00:00It's reported that the UK and the EU will end Brexit red tape on food checks.
00:05Do you support that deal? Do you think that would be good for businesses?
00:08Well, I don't know what the deal is.
00:10In theory, they say they want to end red tape on food checks.
00:14That's a good thing. But is that actually what's going to happen?
00:17Or are they moving the red tape from the border to somewhere else?
00:21The reason why we left the EU was so we could make our own rules.
00:25But if what the government is signing up to is just following EU rules,
00:28then what was the point of leaving?
00:30They are too scared to actually use the Brexit freedoms that we have.
00:34The free trade agreement that we have with the EU, like many others,
00:38is one that needs constant negotiating.
00:39So I want to see Labour negotiating and improving on deals with all countries.
00:45That's what you do when you have your own trade policy.
00:48That's what it means. It's a never-ending process.
00:51What worries me is that Andy Burnham has already gone out
00:54and told the EU all the things that he wants.
00:56He doesn't know how to negotiate.
00:57I say this as a former trade secretary.
01:00I'm very worried that what he is saying he's going to do
01:03is actually going to make things worse, not better.
