00:00It's election day in California. There are some races that will be decided very early, perhaps within an hour or
00:05two after the polls close, based on early results.
00:08The governor's race is not particularly close, even though Steve Hilton has run a very good campaign, so that might
00:13be decided early.
00:14But there are going to be some races that are too close to call, especially the race for L.A.
00:18mayor between incumbent Karen Bass and challenger Nitya Raman.
00:21You'll also see some very close races in congressional districts, especially the 6th district, where independent Kevin Kyrie is running
00:29against Democrat Richard Pan.
00:30Proposition 39, the voter ID initiative, will probably be too close to call for a couple of days.
00:36The no votes might seem to have the edge based on early poll results, but we could be in for
00:41a surprise. Voter ID might pass in California.
00:44Proposition 40, the billionaire tax, looked like it was going down to defeat, but some of the polls still show
00:49it too close to call,
00:50so we may not know those results until the weekend at the earliest.
