Senator Jon Ossoff delivers his victory speech after defeating Trump-backed Republican Mike Collins in the Georgia Senate race. The Democratic incumbent campaigned aggressively against President Donald Trump and his political allies, turning the contest into a major political battle. Ossoff’s reported victory marks a significant development in Georgia politics and raises questions about the impact of Trump’s influence on Republican candidates, the future of the Senate, and the balance of power in Washington.

00:00In sweeping and decisive victories, the American people have rebuked the depravity, corruption
00:11and incompetence of the failed lame duck President Donald J. Trump.
00:16Thank you, Georgia!
00:20Georgia, you did it!
00:24And let me be the first to offer public congratulations to the governor-elect of the state of Georgia,
00:33Keisha Lance Bottoms!
00:53To every volunteer who poured your heart and soul into this effort and everyone who chipped
01:02in so we could face down the Dark Money Super PACs, thank you.
01:10To Charlie Bailey and his crew at the strongest Democratic Party of Georgia in a generation,
01:16thank you.
01:21To my staff, to Ellen and Keenan and Ray and Miriam and Chandra and the best team in American
01:27politics, thank you.
01:33To my wonderful wife, Alicia, and my daughters, Eva and Lila, my parents and my entire family,
01:39thank you for your unconditional love and support.
01:45And to the people of the great state of Georgia for the trust you've invested in me to continue
01:51representing you in the United States Senate, thank you, thank you, thank you.
02:04Now, Georgia, thank you.
02:09To the folks, Thank you.
02:17I love you too.
02:19I love you too.
02:20And listen, in sweeping and decisive victories, the American people have rebuked the depravity, corruption, and incompetence of the failed
02:38lame duck President Donald J. Trump.
02:47And if at times these last two years, amidst the ceaseless onslaught of brutality and indecency, you doubted whether our
02:59republic would survive, let tonight's results give you courage that the first light of dawn is on the horizon.
03:14But remember that in living rooms and backyards and at rallies across Georgia these last two years, together we've affirmed
03:23that our task is not just to contain one president's wickedness, but to heal the brokenness beneath.
03:31That this moment is an opening not for restoration, but for reformation.
03:38And so amidst our celebration tonight, we must acknowledge that the underlying crisis gripping our republic remains and that therefore
03:50our most vital work lies ahead.
03:55Because while the wealthy and well-lobbied feast on inside information and official favors, America's forgotten families are treated to
04:06systemic corporate disrespect and official indifference, working harder and harder while the treadmill just gets faster and steeper and the
04:14bills get higher and higher.
04:19Instead of reading your daughter her favorite book, that precious spare hour after work, you're on the phone begging the
04:27insurance company to cover the medicine that prevents her seizures.
04:31You report the black mold to your landlord, who doesn't fix the leak, and the ambulance for your toddler's asthma
04:39attack is followed by a $3,000 bill.
04:43For too many homeownerships of fantasy, family farms face ruin, and while healthcares never cost more, plastics invade our bodies,
04:54blood and breast milk, toxic forever chemicals taint half the country's drinking water, and polluters have been granted fresh license
05:02to poison our air.
05:08Abroad, American credibility and leadership are in decay, and the world is rearming for global conflict.
05:16And at our grave peril, humanity is fast forgetting the terrible lessons of two world wars and the Holocaust.
05:26Meanwhile, the titans of Silicon Valley dig bunkers for themselves and warn that the artificial intelligence they're creating risks human
05:34extinction.
05:36And amidst these challenges of unprecedented consequence and complexity, though we rightly celebrate tonight's historic victory, the fact is we've
05:47been too long mired in a small and selfish politics,
05:51bought by big money, unmoored from fixed moral principles, and resigned to intractable division.
06:00In other words, the United States has been adrift in a gale.
06:07But Georgia, we can and will reclaim control over our own destiny.
06:18Tonight, we've struck a necessary and undeniable blow on behalf of justice and progress.
06:25And tonight in Georgia, we've proven not just that unity is possible, but that we can overcome division without sacrificing
06:34clarity of purpose.
06:36In every corner of Georgia, this campaign urged the necessity of banning corporate and secret money from politics,
06:42of American leadership for peace and human rights around the world, and of guaranteeing health care for every single American.
06:55We committed to continuing the work of bringing big pharma, big insurance, and big tech to heal in the defense
07:02of struggling Georgia families.
07:05And on that basis, we built a new majority that extends far beyond party lines.
07:15And the foundation for that new majority has been trust.
07:21Trust built through years of phone calls to mayors, pastors, and farmers.
07:27And trust measured in problems solved together without concern for ideology or party affiliation.
07:34I thank Republican mayors Matheson, Smith, and Frye of Valdosta, Tifton, and Toccoa,
07:41and the countless other Republican leaders who joined our team.
07:45And I thank the hundreds of thousands of independent and Republican voters who joined our winning coalition.
07:57Never doubt that unity is possible.
08:02Even in his final months, Congressman Lewis always reminded us that we all live in one American house.
08:09Do you remember?
08:10In one world house.
08:14He called it the inevitable truth that we're all members of one human family.
08:21And I know many of you have poured yourselves into this campaign, not for my sake or for the sake
08:26of a Democratic Party,
08:27but because you're so deeply troubled by the pain our fellow human beings are enduring right now.
08:36The terror of a child watching ice take away her mother.
08:41The despair of a cancer patient losing coverage mid-treatment.
08:47But that ache in your heart, that pit in your stomach,
08:53that feeling is what reminds us we're all in this together.
08:56That we're not just one United States, we're one United People.
09:01E pluribus unum.
09:02Out of many, one.
09:09And over centuries, despite our sins and through courageous struggle,
09:14the flame of American freedom has grown brighter and bolder and given hope to the whole world.
09:21We've stumbled.
09:22We've stumbled.
09:24We almost lost our way.
09:28But Georgia, for all our troubles, let me assure you tonight that propelled by this historic and undeniable victory,
09:35I have no doubt we will overcome them.
09:44And now our task is to reawaken that great national spirit that defeated fascism and established social security,
09:53that put men on the moon and passed civil rights laws,
09:55in order to meet the challenges and obligations of our time.
09:59Because I refuse to accept that my two little girls will grow up in a world as dark and dangerous
10:05and cruel as this one threatens to become.
10:09I refuse to accept that Eva and Lila will grow up with artificial friends and teachers
10:15in a society where the sick die, not because there's no cure, but because they have no money.
10:21Where we have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world a thousandfold,
10:25but we refuse to guarantee health care for every citizen.
10:29On a poisoned planet, rearming for world war, where human life is cheap and might makes right.
10:37See, when Eva's old enough to ask why I let this happen,
10:43I'm determined to answer truthfully, but I didn't.
10:51I'll tell her how the same year she turned five, Georgia overcame every doubt and dirty trick,
10:57not just to win, but to set a new course for our state and our country and our world.
11:02That we defended voting rights and civil rights at home.
11:07That we restored American leadership toward peace and human rights around the world.
11:12That we finally acted to ban corporate money and secret money from our politics.
11:17And that we guaranteed health care for every single American.
11:24Thank you, Georgia.
11:26Tonight we celebrate this victory.
11:29And tomorrow we get back to work.
11:32Thank you so much.
11:34Thank you, Georgia.
