00:00Welcome to afternoon update from the Met Office. If you are watching on YouTube, do hit subscribe and then you'll
00:05never miss one of our forecasts.
00:07High pressure is the dominant feature. It has been through the last few days and will continue to be through
00:12this week.
00:12But still some contrasting weathers with the high subars close together across the south of the UK, generating quite a
00:18brisk wind here, quite a chilly wind too.
00:21Particularly with the thicker cloud and the drizzly rain, which is quite prevalent across parts of northern England,
00:26North Yorkshire into Northumberland, extending into parts of southeast Scotland.
00:31The odd light shower elsewhere, maybe with the Midlands getting into East Wales, but they'll be pretty light, few and
00:36far between.
00:36Later on, some thicker cloud might produce one or two light bits of drizzle over the east of Northern Ireland
00:41too.
00:42But for the west of Northern Ireland, much of western Scotland, it's a cracking day.
00:45The winds are light here, close to the area of high pressure and with plenty of sunshine.
00:50Temperatures getting up to 10 or 11 degrees Celsius.
00:5311 or 12 further south, that's what it'll read on the thermometer, but generally feeling a bit colder with the
00:58thicker cloud.
00:58As I mentioned, with that brisk and chilly wind along the south coast and the east coast of England especially.
01:05Should brighten up a little bit across Yorkshire to end the day.
01:07And here we'll have some clear skies for a time through this evening.
01:10But generally we'll keep a lot of cloud as we keep that brisk wind going.
01:13A few more showers just grazing into the south of Devon and Cornwall.
01:17One or two heavy ones possible here too.
01:20Most places though will stay dry, will keep a bit of drizzle over the North Pennines, the hills of southern
01:25parts of Scotland too.
01:27But western Scotland holds on to the clearer skies, keeps the light winds.
01:31And so at this time of year that means tumbling temperatures, pockets of frost likely and maybe even a little
01:36bit of mist and fog.
01:37Same goes for Northern Ireland where it stays cloudy in the east, temperatures holding up.
01:40But in the west, temperatures may not be far off zero to start Thursday.
01:44We are again going to have a mixture of sun and cloud through Thursday.
01:47Perhaps a brighter day for Wales and parts of the Midlands.
01:51And generally the cloud not as thick across the south.
01:53Still a few showers though coming into southernmost parts of Devon and Cornwall.
01:57Later in the day there's the potential for some heavier showers.
02:00Maybe a duller day for eastern Scotland tomorrow with a bit more in the way of those drizzly showers coming
02:05through.
02:05But again western Scotland, that west coast especially and the western hours should do okay for sunny spells.
02:11And the winds remain pretty light here so feeling fairly pleasant for November.
02:16Again though the south temperatures stumbling up to double digits, maybe 12 with a little bit of brightness.
02:21But again feeling cooler on those North Sea coasts if you're exposed to that easterly wind.
02:26Later in the day, as I mentioned, the potential for some heavier showers coming into the far southwest.
02:31So that's something to be aware of if you're heading out for bonfire nights.
02:35Could be some wet weather here through the course of Thursday evening.
02:39Otherwise there are a lot of dry weather around.
02:42Will that last into the weekend?
02:43Well for more on that and indeed a sneaky peek into what might happen next week.
02:48You'll want to watch our 10-day trend.
02:50That'll be available on our YouTube channel Wednesday afternoon.
