00:11Oh nice, something new for Skeletor's Swiss Army Knife.
00:15Here's your look at the brand new Mattel He-Man in the Mass Universe Cartoon Collection 2000X series,
00:20Trap Jaw, Evil and Arm for combat.
00:51Trap Jaw, Evil and Arm for combat.
00:52Universe Cartoon Collection 2000X series, Trap Jaw.
00:54Maybe what we'll do first, as we always really do, is we'll grab the tape measure.
00:58This is the tool that I have.
00:59I don't have, like, imagine if I had, like, Trap Jaw's arm.
01:01I could just pop out a tape measure.
01:05Although I'd like to think I could be a little bit more ingenious with some of the things that could
01:08be on my own arm.
01:09But for this, and at least the purpose of this review, and just because, again,
01:12I don't want anyone calling the police because this guy's wielding a weapon,
01:15for right now, at least, I'm going to be using my trusty tape measure.
01:18Now, I feel already Trap Jaw's way too small.
01:20He gets this guy, actually, I get this guy clocked in around 6 inches in height,
01:24or give or take about 15 centimeters tall.
01:27Now, I know Trap Jaw is nowhere near the height of Beast Man,
01:31but, but, I do feel like maybe he should have been just a little bit taller than him.
01:35Because the moment you start to bring in characters like Skeletor, for starters,
01:39let's just maybe get Skeletor to stand right around here,
01:42we then also maybe bring in Evil Lynn.
01:45Put it over.
01:46Already, a poor Beast Man's been buried.
01:48Here's also what he looks like with Triclops and also Merman.
01:51It becomes ever apparent, like, from what I remember in the cartoon,
01:54Trap Jaw did seem like he was considerably higher,
01:57and he also, of course, had himself the hunch because he had the big giant arm.
02:00I feel like maybe, yeah, the figure could be a little bit tad taller.
02:04I also have freed up some space over here,
02:05not just because I like empty space,
02:07but it's also to fill in that space with, of course, the Origins version of Trap Jaw,
02:11and here's also what the figure looks like with the one from Filmation.
02:14I really wish that Trap Jaw's arm could have
02:17opened up and revealed inside a mini-comic.
02:19Sadly, though, the only thing that was revealed with Trap Jaw
02:21is just the fact the figure does have a paper pamphlet.
02:24Everything that's marked, at least in dark grey,
02:26could be things that could be removed on the figure.
02:28Don't try to yank off the lights, for example.
02:30No, the legend's telling you it's only just the stuff in dark grey.
02:32So you could pop off the arms,
02:33you could swap around the head with other figures if you really want.
02:36For right now, though, I'm going to be folding this up.
02:41Nowhere near the recycling bin.
02:43Somewhat near, though, to Trap Jaw,
02:44the figure does have really one accessory,
02:46and that's a swappable arm piece.
02:48I guess technically it would be the equivalent of a swappable hand.
02:51On the end of his arm right now,
02:53the figure does actually have a pincer.
02:55I do like that the pincer does open and close.
02:57It does have some rotation there as well.
03:00Now, also in the cartoon,
03:02he would have really had a whole lot more arm attachments
03:04than really just like a hook and a grabbing claw.
03:08Could they maybe not have also included like a blaster pistol,
03:11something really on the end of it,
03:12toop, toop, toop, that could shoot things.
03:14I mean, I'm sure he had that in the cartoon.
03:16To twist out and remove the hand,
03:19kind of wiggle, wiggle, wiggle back and forth.
03:21Now, I found this was really tight the first time that I've done this,
03:25and it seems like it's been tight every other time that I've done it as well.
03:29I don't know, maybe just the hole is way too small.
03:32Stop that.
03:33We're also going to then go ahead and put the hook back in.
03:35You know, the hook is okay.
03:37I mean, I feel it falls behind nowhere near as cool, really, as the claw.
03:41The claw.
03:42And again, I just feel like a blaster pistol.
03:44Something really on the end that could shoot lasers
03:46probably would have also been.
03:47Trapjaw, generally, I feel, has the rule of three.
03:50Most trapjaws, I think, tend to have three arm attachments
03:53because, again, normally in previous trapjaws,
03:55the extra ones would only just hang on his belt.
03:58This time around, not only does he not have anything
04:00that really hang on his belt because he doesn't have hooks,
04:02but again, he only has two things for his arm.
04:06And again, like, I think the hook is just okay.
04:08I mean, I think the hook probably,
04:09if I had really a list of things I probably would have wanted to put with the figure,
04:12hook would be pretty low on that list.
04:17We'll keep it on for right now
04:18because that's not really the one thing I'm going to be displaying with the figure,
04:22and I don't, I really don't want to feel like the claw's going to be feeling left out.
04:24But the figure looks good.
04:26If I could get past, really, the fact that I feel, again, he's maybe too small.
04:31Where was, I'm going to just bring in Triclops here for right now.
04:34If I really put the two figures side by side.
04:37Now, we have seen them in episodes together.
04:40Trapjaw is taller, but I don't feel he's as tall as he should be.
04:43If I was to remember, I feel like he'd probably be, like, this much higher.
04:48It's a hard thing, really, to gauge because, again, technically, Beastman is a smaller figure as well.
04:53I mean, like, Beastman, really, in the cartoon, should be a whole lot bigger,
04:55but they can only really do so much with plastic.
04:58The moment you start to make these figures really bigger in scale,
05:00it obviously will also increase the price of the figure
05:02because they're using a lot more plastic.
05:04There's a fair bit of new plastic that also went into Trapjaw here.
05:07For starters, of course, he does have his jaw that does open and close.
05:11It doesn't really necessarily open and close.
05:13It just swings up and down.
05:15Most likely, I would want to have it really like that.
05:18But if you wanted to, you can have him opening up his mouth completely,
05:21say, ah, ah, and, of course, you can only really see the top of his jaw.
05:26The whole bottom part would have been, obviously, replaced with mechanics.
05:30So I like that that opens and closes.
05:32Filmation also really technically had that as well.
05:34The face sculpt looks good, too.
05:36The eyes painted really well,
05:37although it does kind of really look like he's looking up,
05:40or maybe it's just the way that I'm looking at it.
05:42It does kind of look like he's staring up at something.
05:44The face looks good.
05:45Like I said, again, I don't think most people probably will end up
05:48displaying the figure like this, just to bring the jaw back up.
05:51He'd probably even have it like that as well.
05:53For the rest of his body.
05:55Now, like, looking at his body, for example,
05:57his torso does seem like they may have used it probably
06:00from, like, previous 2000X series figures.
06:02Could also maybe say the same for the arm as well.
06:04This arm clearly had to have considerable augmentation done to it.
06:09He has a hose, and actually,
06:11the hose is attaching right here on the back of his arm.
06:14One thing, unfortunately, about that, though,
06:15is any little bit of movement that you end up doing.
06:18It seems to, like, be careful really when you start to twist it.
06:21Luckily, though, it's not securely attached.
06:23So, at any moment,
06:25the worst thing that's really going to only happen
06:27is that the hose is going to come loose.
06:29If it was, like, glued in there, for example,
06:31you would likely go, this would go, and rip,
06:34and then you would just be running up the stairs crying.
06:38So, again, I like the idea that there is at least a fail-safe,
06:41so the hose isn't going to rip necessarily off,
06:43but it's going to be popping off frequently.
06:46I feel like, also, maybe the colors,
06:47if I really was to point out some small problems
06:50with the figure, again, size really being one of them,
06:52is that also his arm doesn't seem like it's this right color.
06:56What we've really been given here in plastic
06:58is kind of more of a bluish gray,
07:00and then, like, a dark,
07:01I don't even really want to say, like, a gunmetal gray,
07:03but it's almost even, like, a dark blue gray, too.
07:06In the cartoons, though,
07:07I feel like it's actually more, like, a medium gray here,
07:10and a really more darker gray here.
07:11So, like, the colors aren't really matching the cartoon,
07:14but I guess in the end it's still pretty close.
07:16Again, he has quite the really long arm as well.
07:19This is also something that's a separate piece, too.
07:22Now, I was trying to find where that connected,
07:24and I thought initially it was going to be right over here.
07:26I think the only way, and I might be wrong,
07:28that to take the armor off,
07:30yeah, I think you probably would have to detach
07:32the top of the torso,
07:33and then be able to slide it off that way.
07:36It is separate from everything else.
07:38You can also see that they put in
07:39a little bit of extra detailing there
07:40on the front of his chest.
07:42Nothing really at all on the arm.
07:43You get, of course, now brand new gloves.
07:45So, that's something a little bit different.
07:47And, of course, brand new legs as well.
07:49The legs are good.
07:50The legs do look good.
07:52Luckily, though, everything is good and tight on the figure.
07:54To the point, really, when I was even bending his knee,
07:57this one knee is still really stubborn.
07:59But, again, I would much rather really having tight joints
08:01to worry about than overly loose joints,
08:03especially for the fact that the figure has so much more weight
08:06on one side of the figure's body.
08:08For trap jaws, articulation.
08:09First of all, I guess we can already establish the fact
08:11that his jaw does open and close.
08:13I mean, you could get really, really silly with things
08:14and have it all the way up.
08:15It kind of looks now like a prey mantis.
08:19Again, the mouth does open and close.
08:21The jaw, that is, I should say, swings up and down.
08:24That, of course, then is also going to be on a ball joint.
08:26So, you can rotate.
08:27If you move, really, the shoulder out of the way,
08:29the shoulder is actually pegged separately.
08:32So, it's attached to the armor here.
08:34So, you can actually rotate that back and forth.
08:36So, if you wanted to, you can move it somewhat out of the way.
08:38And you can then rotate his head.
08:41If you get his jaw just out of the way there,
08:42you can rotate his head all the way around.
08:44Down and up, back and forth.
08:46Make sure, again, you're probably going to be doing this a lot.
08:48As you move the figure, you're going to be banging this in the process
08:51and saying, that ain't right.
08:52That ain't right.
08:53That ain't right.
08:54So, again, you just want to make sure that things do look right.
08:57Anyway, his arm would normally have rotated all the way around.
09:00The problem with that, though, is, again,
09:02like this large shoulder pad is only just beginning in the way.
09:04Even though, despite having really a peg right here,
09:07the peg is only really going to allow that shoulder to do,
09:09well, it does move up and down.
09:11It does technically sway back and forth.
09:13But it really isn't going to help the problem of having the arm.
09:15The arm's not going to be able to really rotate all the way around.
09:18There is no swivel here.
09:20However, there's a swivel right here,
09:22where I guess the start of his elbow would be.
09:24There's an elbow bend as well.
09:26And technically, too, by the way that this attaches,
09:29this could also rotate all the way around.
09:31We went back, though, to the claw.
09:33The claw technically also does have some additional posability there as well.
09:37This arm, just in case you were curious,
09:39does rotate also all the way around.
09:41You can hinge that also out.
09:43Same thing, really, as this one.
09:44It has a hinge there in the elbow.
09:46Forearm rotates.
09:47Hand rotates.
09:48Hand rotates.
09:49I don't know.
09:50As of late, though, I've noticed that with the 2000X series figures
09:52that the grip seems smaller.
09:55Like, it's not as wide or as circular of a grip.
09:57It's a little bit smaller.
09:59Waist does rotate back and forth,
10:01despite really the fact he has this belt in the front of it.
10:04It doesn't seem to impede at all things.
10:06Again, you can also move his legs out.
10:08Ball joins there as well.
10:09Legs go forward and back.
10:11Out.
10:12Swivel.
10:13Swivel.
10:14Swivel.
10:15Bend at the knee.
10:16Lower leg rotates.
10:17Now, this whole section of his foot does also separately rotate, too.
10:21And, of course, his ankle does move up and down.
10:23You can also rock it back and forth as well.
10:25It is a good figure.
10:26And, really, Trapjaw was one that,
10:28as soon as they announced that the 2000X series figures were going to get released,
10:31the one that I was pretty high on my list of wants right away was Trapjaw.
10:36I like the look of the character.
10:37I like that he got such a larger arm in the cartoon.
10:40I think he translated pretty well to plastic.
10:42The only one thing about it, though, and I can't say necessarily, well, it's the fault
10:47of Mattel.
10:48Because, again, like in the end, Mattel wants to produce toys at a fairly affordable budget.
10:53The moment then you start to make these figures more scaled in the way that they looked in
10:57the cartoon, I think then you start to have to worry about how much more are we going to
11:00start to charge these figures.
11:01Like Trapjaw, I think, is essentially really the same price as like the Mermans, the Triclops,
11:06for example.
11:07Had they maybe, they could have maybe put them at the price point of, you know, like Beastman.
11:11And then if they had made him a little bit taller to compensate for the fact that the
11:15price was going to be a little bit more than your standard figures, what they could have
11:19then also done too, again, just to kind of compensate for that, is thrown in some extra
11:23arm attachments.
11:25So, I mean, is that something that anybody would really have been interested in?
11:28Charging more for the price of this guy, make him a little bit taller?
11:32Maybe not that tall, maybe a little bit taller, and then give him some extra arm attachments
11:35just to throw in there, just to say that Mattel, yeah, acknowledges the fact that this
11:39guy's going to be a little bit more than these guys.
11:41But he's not going to be maybe as much as this guy, or even if he was going to be
11:44the
11:44same price as this guy, we're at least going to be throwing things in there as well to
11:48justify the price.
11:49Am I ever lucky that that hose comes loose from the side of his arm?
11:52Because bringing his arm up like that, surely that hose, and don't call me Shirley, would
11:56have ripped easily out, and I probably would have broken it.
11:59Unfortunately, though, by certain poses, that hose is just going to dangle there.
12:03They could have really also made the hose a little bit longer, but then you really wouldn't
12:06want to have it too excessively long, so it looked baggy on the side.
12:09I guess it is, for all intents and purposes, the right size of hose, but it just isn't
12:14going to work it and isn't going to cut every single pose that you want to put the figure
12:17in.
12:18I do like the arm being out like this.
12:20What I don't like, though, is that hook attachment that goes onto the end of the forearm.
12:24It's really uninteresting.
12:26I mean, I could see most people probably just going back to having the claw attachment and
12:30using that instead.
12:31At least the claw does have some poseability.
12:33You can open and close the pincers.
12:34This hook just sticks around.
12:37That's all it really is going to do.
12:39It's just doing what it's doing right now with no expectations at all that it's going
12:43to be doing any more than that.
12:44The figure, for what it is, does deliver, I think, a decent-looking trap jaw.
12:48I mean, again, if you were to look at the details on this, if you are somebody that looks
12:52to the cartoon, looks to the figure, looks back to the cartoon, says, wait a minute, wait
12:55a minute.
12:56The colors for his thigh aren't really right.
12:58The colors of his arm, which I would agree with you, isn't quite right either.
13:01And yes, he is notably shorter.
13:04Well, I can at least agree with you for the last two things.
13:06The color for his arm probably could have been a little bit more cartoon accurate.
13:09And yes, for the sizing, trap jaw really should have been a little bit taller than what he
13:13is.
13:13He shouldn't be the same size, I feel, as Merman.
13:16And yet he shouldn't be really the same size as Beastman either.
13:18He should be meeting somewhere in the middle.
13:20Not too hot, not too cold, but baby bear just right.
13:24Is this baby bear just right?
13:26Let me know down below in the comment section down below.
13:28What do you guys think of the 2000X series trap jaw?
13:31A good figure?
13:32Could have maybe used a few extra improvements, a few extra augmentations like he's had with
13:37his augmented arm.
13:38If you guys also did enjoy this video, please, of course, do this all and hit it with a like.
13:42You guys want to stick around and also follow me on socials.
13:45You can find also all those links down below in the video description.
13:48And again, if you also need a fix for more video content coming your way, of course, there's
13:53always going to be a spot for that.
13:54Yeah, it's right here inside the videos.
