00:00With a love started by Pokemon, I can almost always find something to enjoy in an RPG that lets me
00:06loose on a world full of fun monsters to befriend.
00:09And I can confidently say that after an hour with Honkai Nexus Anima, these are some of my favorite creature
00:15designs I've ever encountered.
00:17I only wish its battle style didn't leave me with so many reservations.
00:21I'll admit that I'm easily charmed when it comes to this genre.
00:24I see a cute animal design, I click, and I was constantly delighted by almost every creature I encountered during
00:30my preview session.
00:31As for battles, the game has dedicated frontline and backline anima, each with traits that offer different benefits.
00:38Protectors, for example, take enemy aggro and regenerate energy when they're hit.
00:43Dispositions, meanwhile, give anima unique additional abilities even among the same species, making each one you capture slightly different.
00:50Combat works on a real-time auto-battling system.
00:54Your team of anima is thrown into a top-down battle arena and immediately start charging towards their foes, autonomously
01:00using their abilities.
01:01While you do have some involvement, things generally take care of themselves.
01:05So you have a number of cards at the bottom of your screen representing different human characters known as Eidos,
01:11who have various skills you can deploy when you like, cooldowns pending.
01:15Auto-battler fans may feel differently here, but I can't deny I'm currently unconvinced that Honkai Nexus anima will stick
01:22the landing for me at launch.
01:23I'm left uncertain that there's enough going on here to keep me hooked, as much as I want to befriend
01:28those cute anima.
