Wall Street suffered its worst day in 18 months on Thursday, wiping out the entire post-election rally in a single session as AI and chip stocks plunged.

The Nasdaq fell 5.52% into correction territory, the Dow tumbled 1,833 points, and the S&P 500 sank 4.36%, its worst day since April 2025. The semiconductor index crashed 12.25% as investors worried new Democratic majorities could slow the artificial intelligence data centre boom, with Nvidia down 9% and Micron down 17%. Futures steadied overnight as bargain hunters stepped in, while India's Sensex bucked the rout, jumping 1,600 points.
