02:04dynamic filled with tons of playful banter and inside jokes the pair ultimately exuded best friend
02:11vibes on screen rather than strictly parental not only did viewers fall in love with the two gilmore
02:17girls and their unique personalities amy had also created the fictional town of stars hollow that
02:24audiences adored as well paladino filled the close-knit community with a variety of unique supporting

02:56they came together to produce an endless amount of humorous moments for the show
03:02amy would also do an excellent job with adding in more serious undertones when needed
03:07she was able to showcase the very damaged relationship with lorelei's overbearing parents
03:12without totally villainizing them often giving the viewers glimpses of major underlying issues
03:18and constantly dangling the carrot of a resolution aside from writing several pages of good family drama
03:26the paladinos also took the viewers on quite the roller coaster when it came to exploring the love
03:31lives of the mother-daughter duo lorelei had her fair share of eligible bachelors
03:38but most notably had a persistent will they won't they saga going on with luke who occupied the friend
03:43zone rory even had her very own teenage love triangle that showcased bad boys versus nice guys
03:50it all made for fun television that kept the audience fully engaged while amy initially made
03:58the supporting characters well balanced and deeply layered over the course of a few seasons
04:03many fans became annoyed with the writing that randomly changed characters in order to create drama
04:10luke in particular became extremely more grumpy more negative and far less intelligent his character
04:17was no longer very appealing when the long-awaited ship finally set sail with lorelei rory also became
04:24quite the unlikable character as she shredded the good girl image almost overnight but despite the
04:30frustrations the show still remained a top rated series for the wb however things would take a turn for
04:37the worst during the sixth season with the wb and upn merging to become the cw new contract negotiations
04:45began behind the scenes the meetings between the new leaders of the network and paladino weren't exactly
04:52going so well amy wanted a contract for more guaranteed seasons while the new leadership wasn't so
04:59keen on committing long term as there was no shortage of new tv show pitches they received
05:04the negotiations would continue while season six was actively being written and filmed
05:10in this new season the storylines just seemed to get rather outrageous to say the least the series
05:17would jump the shark in the eyes of most fans during this time midway through this negotiation
05:23season a new character was introduced named april the 12 year old would pop up out of the blue claiming
05:31to be luke's long lost daughter from a past relationship which was never mentioned prior
05:36the random storyline seemed to come at the worst possible time luke and lorelei had just gotten
05:42engaged and with him continuously being written to be unlikable he only seemed to get worse with the
05:49new plot thrusted on screen straying much further away from the version of the character that fans once
05:55rooted for he foolishly decided to keep april a secret from his soon-to-be wife for over two months
06:03luke also became quite the angry downer throughout the entire april saga viewers kept wondering what
06:10exactly happened to this character all of a sudden however the very attractive lorelei gilmore wouldn't
06:17be left without an orbiter in her vicinity that was ready to pick up the pieces christopher was rory's
06:23estranged father who would appear sporadically over the years paladino decided to make him much more
06:30prominent in season six while the scripts routinely painted him as a deadbeat dad for the bulk of the
06:36series his character would see a dramatic shift in portrayal christopher became what luke used to
06:43be for the most part which was quite the ironic turn but the unusual character changes didn't stop with
06:49luke or christopher rory gilmore too had quite the regression during this period as well stars hollow's
06:57favorite daughter was no longer the sensible bookworm that was once championed by the town
07:03she had dropped out of college on a whim moved in with her rich grandparents and took on the identity
07:09of a spoiled brat it was far from what the fans thought rory would turn into she was always portrayed

07:17a determined and driven person for most of the series it really became quite hard for viewers to
07:23root for anyone at this stage of the show almost everyone seemed to have changed on a dime for the
07:29worst aside from a few luke was an inconsiderate liar rory had become a privileged brat and even lorelei
07:36made many head-scratching decisions as well she instructed me to bring a man today i just wanted

08:01near the end of the sixth season it was announced that paladino would not be returning instead she was
08:08going to be replaced with a new team of writers and showrunners the season would conclude with another
08:14curveball that came out of nowhere for most of the series just having a healthy relationship seemed
08:21like enough for lorelei gilmore but that all would abruptly change over the course of amy's final season
08:27penning the show lorelei had become quite obsessed with the idea of getting married as if her life
08:34depended on it and despite the fact she was currently engaged to luke all of a sudden she assumed the
08:41wedding would never happen i wanted to say a few words about our girl i have known lane forever and

09:52conclude with her going to luke's diner in an anxiety-driven meltdown she gave him an ultimatum of
09:59eloping that very night which understandably he declined in favor of thinking it over as she was
10:05visibly in a manic state however thinking wasn't an option and lorelei proceeded to end their
10:11relationship on the spot minutes later she appeared at christopher's apartment seemingly
10:17wanting to feel good this would be the final episode for palladino now that her contract had expired
10:24a new team would be assigned to pen the show for the next season the new writers had a very
10:30important
10:31choice to make going forward would they try to clean up the mess that palladino may have created
10:36purposely or double down the new writers opted to dig the hole a bit more deeper the christopher and
10:44lorelei relationship started and it progressed rather quickly the old childhood flames promptly got married
10:51within the first few episodes on screen the new relationship was portrayed to be going extremely
10:57smooth for the pair christopher had brought a ton of positives to the table in comparison to luke
11:04he had better communication skills better attitude and also had a burning desire to create a happy
11:10family life the new writing team also chose to improve the character development of rory
11:17changing her back to being grounded and determined to succeed once again
11:22however doing the midpoint of the season it was announced the show would be cancelled
11:27the two lead actresses weren't able to reach a deal with the network to do an eighth season
11:33the new writers had to wrap things up quickly and end the story how they felt was appropriate
11:39ironically it was correcting amy's past artistic decisions which they decided not to do at the start
11:46much of the back half of the season was seen as rushed by the fans of the show
11:51christopher who was being portrayed as a real winner on screen
11:55he would suddenly become quite insecure out of the blue
11:59and he proceeded to sabotage his happy marriage with lorelei
12:03his demise was sparked over a non-romantic letter written for a judge
12:08the character testimony that lorelei had wrote describing luke
12:11was to be used in a custody hearing to help luke with his daughter
12:16christopher was so shaken up by the custody letter he failed to show up during a family emergency
12:22meanwhile luke came to the rescue despite not being prompted to
12:27it seemed in order to fulfill early fans service expectations
12:31the new writing team felt they had to put the former toxic couple back together again
12:36to close things out properly even though they were shown to be rather incompatible as romantic partners
12:42those last two seasons the very end of the final episode would conclude with rory going off to pursue
12:49a life of journalism lorelei and luke would officially get back together because he managed to throw a going
12:55away party for rory despite rainy weather most dedicated fans were split on how well the series ended
13:03gilmore girls would become a distant memory for the years that followed
13:08however as netflix began to emerge and take over home entertainment with their revolutionary streaming
13:13service the gilmore girls would be introduced to a brand new audience it was considered to be quite
13:21binge worthy for the new fans it became one of the most popular licensed television shows featured on
13:27netflix for a period eventually the streaming giant decided to pursue a reboot making it a new netflix
13:34original mini series amy would be brought back to pen and direct the revival and most of the cast
13:41agreed to return as well unfortunately after nine years removed from the show amy ironically had
13:49seemed to lose her touch when it came to writing for the characters she created
13:53most of the characters were frozen in time and hadn't progressed much in nearly 10 years
13:59lane was still doing music along with the band from her time as a teenager
14:05luke and lorelei never had kids and weren't even married despite marriage being such a deal breaker
14:10in the past even rory was still romantically involved with an old college flame from 10 years ago
14:18overall many fans were disappointed with the revival aside from the stalled characters and storylines
14:24there wasn't much of a plot either many scenes were said to be too long and dragged out for the
14:30sake of runtime netflix would not renew gilmore girls for a new season after the backlash it received
14:37once it aired as the years went on some of the cast has shared interest in another reboot or special
14:44however after the revival failed to satisfy its fans the support for a new entry has been minimal
14:51most former fans have been quite vocal in choosing to treat the netflix miniseries as non-canon
