00:00You know who's not boring? Jonathan Taylor. You know who's not boring? Derrick Henry. You know what's not boring? Winning.
00:07Winning is fun. The Giants are fun. Malik Neighbors is fun. J.J. McCarthy is fun. A John Harbaugh coach
00:17team. Fun!
00:25It wasn't good enough. We got to be better. They were the better team. Same story. Yeah, it wasn't good
00:31enough. Got to be better. How frustrating is it when it's the same story? I mean, we lost four times.
00:37It's frustrating. So, got to be better. Watch the film. Get better from it.
00:42Derrick, how did you find a way to get something? Go back to work. Go back to practice. Got eight
00:47games left. Got to go back to work.
00:48That's all I can tell you. I mean, I don't know. I don't have the magical answers. We got to
00:54go back to work.
00:54Do you believe that this team can turn it around? We have to. That's the only thing we can do.
00:58Let's go back to work and try to get it going.
01:01Derrick, do you feel like the way that the season has gone changes? Maybe you plan to still be with
01:07this team?
01:08I have not mentioned me going anywhere else. I'm saying let's go back to work. Let's try to get better
01:12and turn this around.
01:14Derrick, there have been a lot of reports that you guys are finalizing a trade for Jacobi Prezett.
01:17Do you feel like a veteran quarterback could help?
01:20You know, we need our hands on deck and I feel like he can come in here and help us.
01:25And I'm excited to have him and see where it goes.
01:29Well, the Ravens, as we predicted, got spanked last night.
01:35Almost hit the exact final score from Shine's Lions yesterday.
01:38I said 33-3. That was the score when I went to bed. It was 33-10.
01:43And Derrick Henry is frustrated.
01:46And Derrick Henry should be frustrated.
01:48And Derrick Henry talked to the press yesterday about whether or not he was going to stay with the Baltimore
01:56Ravens
01:57after the trade deadline, after another loss for Baltimore.
02:02You remember who his coach used to be?
02:05John Harbaugh.
02:07A Golden Giants opportunity for the New York Football Giants.
02:13And let me tell you something.
02:15I think the Giants are absolutely going to strike here.
02:18I believe either Jonathan Taylor or Derrick Henry will be a member of the New York Football Giants,
02:26should be a member of the New York Football Giants,
02:28by 4 o'clock Eastern time on Tuesday when it's time for the NFL trade deadline.
02:34This is a giant opportunity.
02:37Look at the back page of the New York Post today.
02:42Oh, yeah.
02:44Taylor made.
02:46This is it.
02:47This is it.
02:48It's all there for the New York Football Giants.
02:52The Giants need to go into Philly and win in Philadelphia for the first time since 2013.
03:00And that's an important deal here.
03:02Because if you lose the game, maybe you're not as inclined to go out and make a monster move.
03:08You beat Philly.
03:09You bury Philly.
03:11And we said all week this was going to be the case.
03:14They're going to beat Philly, bury Philly, have the ability to stake the claim
03:19as the team that will win the division.
03:23I think that Dallas is going to win this week against Indianapolis.
03:27I think that Washington is going to lose at home against the Rams.
03:32I think that the Eagles are cooked.
03:35And I think the Giants are going to improve to 5-2-1.
03:39And then they have Washington coming up on Thursday.
03:42So that means they need to make a trade sooner than later, like on Monday morning,
03:49to get Jonathan Taylor or Derrick Henry ready for Thursday going up against Washington.
03:57Jonathan Taylor is the guy.
03:59Let's start there.
04:00I would absolutely give the Indianapolis Colts what they want, what they need,
04:05the Christian McCaffrey package, a 2-3-4-5 for Jonathan Taylor.
04:11Jonathan Taylor is a Hall of Fame running back.
04:14He is a smart guy, bright guy, face of a franchise, grew up in New Jersey.
04:20He would be everything that John Harbaugh would want for this season,
04:24next season when the Giants could be truly great.
04:27He could help the Giants make the playoffs and host a playoff game at MetLife Stadium,
04:33win the division.
04:34This is perfect.
04:36He is a great guy in the community.
04:38This would be everything for the New York football Giants.
04:42Now, look at their rushing rankings when you take a look at what New York has done this year.
04:47The Giants, when you look at it, are not a great rushing team.
04:52They are exactly what the numbers say.
04:56A subpar, below average running team.
05:01Running in place.
05:03Absolutely.
05:04Cam Scadaboo, I know he was great against Houston.
05:06He's not a guy I rely on.
05:08Clearly, we've said it.
05:10We're right, and they're going to make a trade.
05:12I'm telling you.
05:13You know, he's not, based upon, you know, his lack of availability, his knucklehead behavior,
05:18the fumble against Washington.
05:20He's not a John Harbaugh guy.
05:22They already cut Najee Harris who wasn't a Harbaugh guy who's complaining about carries
05:25and reps, and then you factor in the Tracy injury.
05:28I like Motor Singletary, but he's not a stud.
05:31The Giants need a difference maker.
05:33And I want you to look at the compare and contrast of the stats here with Jonathan Taylor and
05:38Derrick Henry.
05:39And I think this board is fantastic on a lot of different levels because you have to look
05:45at a few different things here.
05:47Look at the age.
05:48Look at the contract.
05:51Look at the money.
05:52So, the fact that the Ravens lost last night, I think they're more likely now to trade Derrick
06:01Henry.
06:02And not only that they lost, but they got killed.
06:04The score matters.
06:05Because even though they have the Chargers coming up and they've got some winnable games,
06:10they're not making the playoffs even with Jacoby Brissett.
06:13So, Jonathan Taylor is available because everyone's available in Indianapolis.
06:17Derrick Henry now on the heels of yesterday becomes even more available.
06:22And look at the contract.
06:23It's not guaranteed, so he would probably want a new deal.
06:26I'm sure John Harbaugh would love to give it to him.
06:29I think Derrick Henry has another year or two playing at the King Henry Hall of Fame level
06:35left in the tank.
06:36And he can absolutely still rock and roll and still be the ultimate plan.
06:40You see it right here of power and speed.
06:42And the All-22 tape doesn't lie when you take a look at the genius of Derrick Henry.
06:47And no one knows that better than John Harbaugh, his former head coach with the Baltimore Ravens
06:54now running the New York Football Giants.
06:56Listen, I think Jonathan Taylor is better.
06:59I think Jonathan Taylor is younger.
07:02I think Jonathan Taylor's contract, while it's pricier, is actually team-friendly for 2027,
07:092028, and it's also a window here to ultimately, not just for this year, but be in position to win.
07:18And I'm not talking about win a division.
07:21Win big, which should be the stated goal for the New York Football Giants.
07:25That's Harbaugh's goal.
07:26He understands what, he understands the assignment or what he's here for.
07:30So I think Jonathan Taylor can absolutely help with that.
07:33And look, you know, oftentimes we just say, all right, Giants, you know, maybe they'll win the division.
07:39It's one of the worst divisions in the NFL.
07:41Giants are a good team.
07:42They deserve credit for that.
07:44And if they can, I want you to just, if you're a Giants fan for a second, think about this
07:49vision.
07:50Tell me when I say something crazy.
07:53Giants beat Philly, bury Philly.
07:56Giants trade on Monday or Tuesday for Jonathan Taylor or Derrick Henry.
08:01Giants become a team that can be a factor in the postseason in the NFC.
08:08Giants beat Washington on Thursday.
08:11I mean, that is a chronological order of events in terms of beat Philly, make a monster trade, beat Washington,
08:19bury Washington.
08:20That would be amazing for the Giants and their long-suffering fans.
08:24Giants have not only been bad for a long time, they've been boring.
08:29You know who's not boring?
08:30Jonathan Taylor.
08:31You know who's not boring?
08:33Derrick Henry.
08:34You know what's not boring?
08:36Winning.
08:36Winning is fun.
08:38The Giants are fun.
08:40Malik Nabors is fun.
08:42J.J.
08:42McCarthy is fun.
08:44A John Harbaugh coach team.
08:47Fun!
08:48It's all there for the Giants.
08:50This generation of Giants fans, they haven't seen the team win in Philly.
08:55It hasn't happened since 2013.
08:58I'm getting all fired up because I'm so happy for the Giants and their long-suffering fans.
09:04Listen, I love that John Harbaugh picked up the phone and called the Titans' owner.
09:09He's being smart.
09:10He's being aggressive.
09:12He wants to win.
09:13He wants to win more than the Giants fans.
09:16Let's go.
09:17This is a giant opportunity.
09:20Giants need to pull the trigger, get a running back after a win against Philly.
09:24And I'm telling you, big blue skies.
09:28To the flip side of Thursday Night Football, Jags are legit.
09:31And it's time to start recognizing the vibes in Liam Cohen's locker room.
09:42Hey, I asked you guys this week to be great teammates, to be mentally and physically tough.
09:50Great job, guys.
09:52But that's it.
09:53What Liam Cohen said right there.
09:55Mentally, physically tough.
09:56The Jags are 6-2.
09:57And the Jacksonville Jaguars deserve all sorts of credit for being 6-2.
10:03It's not their fault.
10:05The Baltimore Ravens are inept.
10:07And Figano is playing quarterback last night.
10:10We're not going to knock Jacksonville or take them down a peg because who they played this past Sunday, the
10:16Colts.
10:16They're giving up on the season.
10:18By the way, they have Tennessee coming up.
10:20So, I don't want to hear, well, they're a function of their schedule.
10:24The Jags are great.
10:24I think Buffalo's winning the AFC.
10:26We're on record saying that.
10:28But Jacksonville can absolutely win any style of fight.
10:31And look at these teams, right?
10:33And again, Buffalo's the one seed and Buffalo's my pick.
10:37And Josh Allen carries the Buffalo Bills.
10:40Steelers are really good in every phase.
10:42They certainly have some issues at the wide receiver position.
10:45Kansas City has the championship experience and pedigree.
10:49Denver has the defense and Sean Payton.
10:51Joe Burrow, T. Higgins, Jamar Chase, they're on fire.
10:55Drake Mays on a heater.
10:57The most complete team when you look at the AFC, it's clearly the Jacksonville Jaguars.
11:05Offense, defense, special teams.
11:07Trevor Lawrence is a stud.
11:08Receivers are great.
11:09Tootin is a terrific back.
11:11The defense is excellent.
11:13Liam Cohen is fantastic.
11:15The Jacksonville Jaguars showed it once again.
11:18They deserve and demand more respect.
11:21To the weekend slate.
11:23Huge matchup between the Packers and the Patriots.
11:25So one thing's for sure.
11:26If Jordan Love isn't getting the calls he's looking for from the refs, he should know why.
11:40You made Jordan dress up as a blind ref for Halloween to get you to the playoffs.
11:47I don't know how to answer this one.
11:48You didn't prepare me for this question.
11:52He did send me the clip and I thought it was pretty hilarious.
11:58But I probably should refrain from giving my two cents on that.
12:05Smarts by Matt LaFleur.
12:08Really smarts.
12:09This game on Fox is an absolute banger.
12:14This, you can make the case, between the Packers and the Patriots, is as significant a game
12:20as we've had all year long in the NFL.
12:23Because you have two 5-3 teams.
12:26You have two 5-3 teams that have won four of their last five.
12:31Both are currently the seventh seed in their respective conferences.
12:35Both quarterbacks, as you see right there, are playing brilliantly.
12:40Jordan Love leads the NFL in passing yards through Week 8.
12:42And Drake May has five straight games with three or more total touchdowns.
12:47And that is unbelievable.
12:49And you look at the location for this game, I think it matters.
12:54I think New England and Drake May and a Mike Vrabel coach team at home,
12:57they always do a heck of a job when you look at their ability to win at home.
13:02I do think it is a bigger game without question for Green Bay.
13:07Because the NFC North is unreal.
13:12Everyone is right now in the playoffs if the season ended today.
13:16Plus, the Packers not only have to worry about the Vikings and the Bears and the Detroit Lions,
13:22they have to worry about the Rams and the Seahawks catching them in the standings for the wild card.
13:28Patriots, I don't think anyone's going to catch them.
13:30We went through that this week here on Shine Time.
13:33And I don't think that's Cleveland.
13:36I don't think that Vegas.
13:38Certainly not Baltimore.
13:40Outside shot if Houston gets hot.
13:42But New England should be able, when it's all said and done,
13:45to take care of business.
13:47And get that seventh spot.
13:49And make the playoffs.
13:50I do think that Drake May is certainly a better quarterback than Jordan Love.
13:56Love is playing his best football of his entire career.
14:00Most consistent football of his career.
14:02Watson and Golden have been terrific.
14:05This is going to be a loaded game on so many different levels.
14:08One thing I'm not going to do is bet against Drake May when he's playing like this,
14:15playing at home against Green Bay.
14:23I hope it's so loud when we're on defense that it really doesn't matter
14:29what Coach Ash is telling the green dot.
14:31Like, I hope it's that loud.
14:33And it's a challenge to our fans to be loud because it impacts the game.
14:38Oh, baby, Marcus Freeman giving me the chills.
14:41That atmosphere in South Bend is going to be unbelievable this week
14:45for Notre Dame and Miami.
14:46And this is the best college football Saturday ever.
14:52Hyperbole?
14:53Take a look at this.
14:54We have seven, seven, seven games that featured teams that are ranked.
15:03Teams that are in the top 25.
15:06We have games that are loaded, loaded with playoff implications.
15:12I mean, look at this.
15:13And here's the beauty.
15:14You have Utah and BYU getting the party started in Salt Lake City.
15:18And that, by the way, is 9 o'clock local in Salt Lake City.
15:23And BYU beat Notre Dame.
15:25And obviously, you saw them lose in overtime to UCF.
15:29I think BYU is going to win that game.
15:32Texas, Missouri.
15:33I think Arch will carry Texas to a victory.
15:37Alabama, LSU.
15:39I still can't believe how high Alabama was rated in the college football playoffs,
15:44especially compare and contrast to Tennessee when Tennessee absolutely destroyed them.
15:48I think LSU is going to win this game.
15:50Lane Kiffin, Sam Leavitt.
15:52The game's at LSU.
15:54I have LSU winning that game.
15:56Oregon, Ohio State.
15:58I mean, Fahey back at quarterback for Ohio State.
16:01He can't complete the forward pass.
16:02Ohio State's defense was terrible against USC.
16:06Oregon had a big-time win, a comeback against a great Northwestern team.
16:10I think Oregon could go into Ohio State's because they don't have a quarterback and win this game.
16:16Kentucky, Tennessee should be amazing.
16:19I like Kentucky.
16:21Obviously, Georgia and Ole Miss, this is going to be a banger.
16:24And I think that that Chambliss matchup, a quarterback taking on Kirby Smart's defense,
16:30that's why you love sports.
16:32I'm going to take Georgia and Stockton to win this game.
16:35And of course, Miami and Notre Dame.
16:37Miami is a 7.5-point dog because of the Tony injury.
16:41Even if Tony was healthy, I would still take Notre Dame to win.
16:45Every time I see that 11 next to Notre Dame's name, I shake.
16:50Because at the end of the day, it's embarrassing.
16:52They're on a top-six team in the college football playoff rankings.
16:55And this puts all the onus and emphasis on Notre Dame and makes this an elimination game.
17:02If they lose this game, especially with Miami not having Tony, they're out.
17:06They're toast.
17:07It's over.
17:08Here's the beauty.
17:09And I'm taking Notre Dame to win.
17:10And I give you picks on every single game.
17:11I could be wrong on every single game on Saturday because this is the nature of college football this season.
17:19This is the nature of these games.
17:20This is what's hanging in the balance this weekend.
17:23So I think that the ambiance of these schools for the home crowd, it's going to be amazing.
17:30So give me BYU to win.
17:32Give me Texas to win.
17:33Give me LSU to win.
17:35Give me Oregon to win.
17:37Give me Kentucky to win.
17:38Give me Notre Dame to destroy Miami.
17:42I know people love Mensah.
17:43I love Mensah.
17:44This is personal for Notre Dame.
17:46What happened last year with the college football playoff committee, they left them out because of the whole Miami situation.
17:51Then obviously what happened, you know, the regular season last year.
17:54Then what happened this week with the college football playoffs, I think Notre Dame is going to take out all
17:58their frustration with the Miami Hurricanes.
18:00And I like Georgia at Ole Miss to take care of business.
18:04This is the best college football Saturday ever.
18:11Last week, our worst week of the year.
18:14Six and eight.
18:15Oh, bad picks, bad beats with the Chiefs and the Patriots.
18:19But still, as you see on the screen right there, having a great season, picking every game against the spread.
18:24Now, our guest picker this week needs no introduction, but he demands we give him one.
18:30He is the critically acclaimed host of You Better, You Bets on Westward One.
18:35He hosts on WFAN every Sunday morning.
18:38He has a sensational NFL picks column on The Athletic.
18:42And he was one of John Madden's all-time favorite co-workers, my guy, the great Nick Costas.
18:50Nick, how are you?
18:51Good, buddy.
18:52You left out the most important thing.
18:53You're a former producer on radio for a long time.
18:56So, you and I go way back, and I got something else that we share in addition to a radio
19:00past.
19:01I also laid the points with the Patriots last Sunday in Miami.
19:04I did not appreciate that late drive by Malik Willis, Kevin Coleman, and the Miami Dolphins.
19:09That was not so much fun.
19:10No, not fun in any way, shape, or form.
19:13Let's get into it.
19:14You're New York football Giants, and Nick is as diehard a Giants fan as I have ever met.
19:20Laying three and a half.
19:21It's a rare moment their favorite, Nick, as you know, in Philadelphia.
19:25Take your pick.
19:26Well, this is like Freaky Friday, right, Adam?
19:28Normally, it's the other way around.
19:29Giants season over by early November.
19:31Eagles with the chance to bury them.
19:33So, as a Giants fan, I'm relishing this.
19:35And I want to take this in a different direction, right?
19:37Because I actually have no interest, Adam.
19:40In the regular point spread of the game.
19:41With Joe Milton starting at quarterback for the Eagles in place of Tanner McKee, I think
19:46this game becomes way more volatile.
19:48He is like the quarterback equivalent of Ricky Wild Thing Vaughn from Major League.
19:52Charlie Sheen's character.
19:53No, like, he might have the strongest arm in the league.
19:57He has like a howitzer attached to his right shoulder.
19:59But every time he throws the ball, you have no idea where it's going.
20:0380 yards to Hollywood Brown, right to Arvel Reese.
20:05So, I don't know how this game's going to play out.
20:07If Tanner McKee were starting, we have an idea of how this is going to go, right?
20:11So, I think this becomes a game, Adam, where we look at alternates.
20:14If you like the Eagles, I wouldn't take the points.
20:16I'd bet them to win by 10.
20:18And if you like the Giants, which I do, I'll take the Giants minus 13.5.
20:22Where I don't know that McKee will have a game, Adam, where he throws four picks.
20:26Milton can absolutely do that.
20:28So, if I had to bet the game, I'd lay the Giants.
20:30But I want better juice.
20:31I'll lay 9.5, 13.5, 16.5 with the G, man.
20:35I love that.
20:36And listen, John Madden used to always talk to you about your Giants windbreaker.
20:39And you had a mustard stain on it.
20:41And he couldn't get enough.
20:43He still have it.
20:44I love that.
20:45I can't get enough.
20:46Listen, I mean, mustard stain, that just tells you all you need to know.
20:50Nick, I love the Giants.
20:52I think they're one of the best bets of the week.
20:53You nailed it on Milton.
20:55I think he, you know, Rick Vaughn is a great line.
20:58I said he's like the human, literal Hail Mary.
21:00You have no idea what's going to happen.
21:02I mean, he could throw for four touchdowns.
21:05He could throw four balls into the upper deck.
21:07You have no idea what's going to happen.
21:09But I love J.J. McCarthy.
21:12Malik Nabors is on a heater.
21:14Clearly, John Harbaugh is the best coach in the division.
21:17I love the Giants laying the 3.5.
21:20And, Nick, I really believe in your Giants here moving forward.
21:24You know, we'll do the Commanders-Rams game in a little bit.
21:28It might sound crazy.
21:30I think the team that scares me the most as a Giants fan in the NFC East, Adam,
21:34is actually the Commanders.
21:35But just from a Giants perspective, if the Giants want to show they're for real,
21:39no excuse not to beat Joe Milton and the Eagles,
21:41and then you beat the Commanders next Thursday night at home,
21:45and you really put some distance in between you and those teams in the division,
21:49then I will believe the Giants are for real
21:51and can actually do this and win the NFC East.
21:54I love that.
21:54All right, we'll get to that game in a second,
21:56but let's get into the Kansas City Chiefs.
21:58They are at home.
21:59Minus 10.
22:00They're hosting the Jets.
22:01Take your pick.
22:02Oh, this is never a fun sentence.
22:04I love the Jets.
22:05To cover the spread.
22:07To win the game, absolutely not.
22:08But to cover the spread, definitely.
22:10And, Adam, it's tough to envision the Chiefs basically blowing out anyone at this point
22:15with the state of their offense.
22:17They have to make a move before Tuesday's trade deadline.
22:20I think they have to acquire an outside receiver that can stretch the field.
22:22Now, can they run the ball on the Jets?
22:24Absolutely, with Kenneth Walker.
22:26But does that lead to a game state where the Chiefs win this game by 14 points,
22:30by 17 points, by 20 points?
22:32I'm not so sure.
22:33Now, I wish Garrett Wilson were playing in the game.
22:35I think best guess is he's not right with the concussion.
22:37But even if he doesn't, the Jets do have weapons on offense, just like the coaching is inept,
22:42right?
22:42If Omar Cooper's going to play, and A.D. Mitchell, and Sadiq, and Taylor, and Brees Hall comes
22:46back maybe with Braylon Allen, they're going to be able to run the ball and move the ball
22:49on this Chiefs defense.
22:51Do I think the Jets will win, Adam?
22:53No.
22:53Do I think they will cover a big spread at Arrowhead?
22:56I do.
22:56So, this is the kind of game, historically, this year, I would grab the points with the
23:01Jets, and I would go against Kansas City, and I foolishly, you know, took the Chargers
23:06a few weeks ago against the Chiefs.
23:08I just look at the coaches.
23:10It's, you know, like Albert Einstein going up against, you know, Fat Albert.
23:13Like, that's what we're talking about here.
23:15I mean, it's not even apples and oranges, it's apples and Oldsmobiles.
23:20Andy Reid is Mount Rushmore.
23:21Aaron Glenn should have been fired weeks ago.
23:24So, I'm just going to look at the coaching, as you eloquently said, the educated guests
23:29with the injury report, I'll lay the 10 here with Kansas City.
23:33Nick, how about the Bears?
23:34Sunday Night Football, they're laying six, hosting the Buccaneers.
23:38I'm so excited for this game, and so I'm going to take Tampa to cover the spread, but
23:44that does not, should not mute at all the excitement for this Bears team.
23:49Adam, I actually think they're the second best team in the league right now, behind only
23:52the 49ers.
23:53I would take them on a neutral field against anyone right now, except San Francisco.
23:57But I think the Bucs, despite the 3-5 record, actually probably a little underrated right
24:03now.
24:03And I think people at them will point to Baker Mayfield, zero passing yards last week, 64
24:08the week before, and will say, well, can they throw the ball?
24:10Of course they can, especially if Emeka Igbuka's back.
24:13Who cares about throwing the ball when you have an offensive line that's blocking out the
24:17sun?
24:17Bucky Irving's playing like Barry Sanders.
24:20And for what it's worth, Ben Johnson's the better head coach in the game, obviously.
24:24Todd Bowles has this defense playing tremendous football right now.
24:27The defense has been great for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
24:30Now, it's not a bet that I would make with confidence, because I do think the Bears are
24:34the second best team in the league, and Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams and Jeffrey Simmons.
24:37But if the point spread's going to be six or six and a half, Adam, load them up, fire the
24:41cannons.
24:41I'll take the Bucs to keep the game close.
24:43Yeah, my problem is, I think you're making great points, because I love the Bears.
24:48I just can't, at this stage, bet against Chicago.
24:51Everything you said, I think, is spot on.
24:53The offensive line for Tampa, the way the defense is flying around.
24:57I just think, for Chicago right now, Jeffrey Simmons changes everything.
25:02There's this pretty ridiculous believability with this team.
25:05Caleb Williams is a superstar.
25:07He's in the MVP conversation.
25:10Ben Johnson is a genius, and I don't think there's any shot that they overlook anyone.
25:16Because of those reasons, you just rattled it off for us.
25:19I'm going to take the Bears and lay the six.
25:22Texans, minus four and a half, Nick, at the Chargers.
25:25Take your pick.
25:26Okay, yeah, well, whoever's playing the Chargers, I'll take the other team.
25:29Now, so, like, the point spread of the game would never be 14, like, ever.
25:34But also, like, shouldn't it be?
25:37Yeah.
25:38Is Justin Herbert currently the worst quarterback in the NFL that started the season as the starter?
25:44It's him or Daniel Jones.
25:46Like, those are the options.
25:47He makes these plays every week, Adam, where you're, like, what's he seeing?
25:51And we've seen him be great.
25:53His brain's broken.
25:54And I don't know what Jim Harbaugh and Mike McDaniel are doing or what they're thinking,
25:57but the idea that they're all of a sudden going to snap out of it here against the Texans defense
26:01coming off the bye that obviously got hurt pretty bad by J.J.
26:05McCarthy and the Giants before they went into the bye.
26:07I just, I would never, ever, ever, ever bet the Chargers.
26:11I think the point spread's 10 points too short.
26:13I love the Texans to win and cover on Sunday.
26:16I think you make a great point.
26:17Like, what would the number have to be to ultimately take the Chargers here?
26:21Yeah, I love the Texans.
26:23Quietly, C.J. Stroud has been pretty good.
26:25The Chargers, Herbert's broken.
26:28Harbaugh's broken.
26:29Harbaugh talks in word salads and has no answers.
26:33I mean, think about what this guy was at every other stop in his career,
26:36even the prior years with the Chargers.
26:38Think about Michigan and the 49ers and Stanford and even San Diego in the collegiate level.
26:43And he always has answers.
26:46He's got nothing.
26:47They are the biggest underachiever based upon expectations with the starting quarterback being healthy in the history of the NFL.
26:56I agree with that.
26:56They're winless.
26:58They're rudderless.
26:59I love the Houston Texans.
27:01And, Nick, you mentioned it.
27:02The Rams are favored by five and a half points in D.C.
27:06Taking on the Commanders.
27:08I'll take Washington to win the game.
27:10Wow.
27:10I'll take the Commanders to win.
27:11Yeah.
27:12So, Matthew Stafford very quietly on the injury report earlier this week, the elbow.
27:18There's been talk about dead arm potentially.
27:21Now, Christian McCaffrey said he had dead leg and then played really well coming back into a game.
27:24So, it's not that Stafford can't or won't play well.
27:27I just – I don't think he's looked right this year physically.
27:31I don't think that.
27:32And, Adam, I know you talked about this, right?
27:34At the end of last season, in the playoffs, the whole thing with the Rams was these corners stink.
27:38And then they addressed the problem.
27:40Sign Jalen Watson.
27:41Trade for Trent McDuffie.
27:43Jalen Watson's out for the year.
27:44And Trent McDuffie's banged up.
27:46And I think the Commanders are percolating a little bit here.
27:49Now, I know the record doesn't show that.
27:51And Dan Quinn doesn't know what day it is.
27:52And Jaden Daniels doesn't know what down it is.
27:55But – and I know you know this, right?
27:56Because you pay as close attention to the NFL as anybody.
27:59If you go through their results week by week, they are, I think, way better than the record indicates.
28:06Now, maybe Quinn's just a terrible coach and they'll lose to Sean McVay and the Rams.
28:09At the very least, I think the Commanders keep this game close.
28:13Adam, I wouldn't be shocked if they won.
28:15In fact, I'll go – I'll go there.
28:17Upset special, to use your term.
28:19Give me the Commanders to beat the Rams on Sunday.
28:21I love your guts on this.
28:23And I think your point on Stafford is a solid one.
28:26It's kind of not talked about.
28:28I do think the Rams are back.
28:30I'm going to lay the five and a half.
28:31I also think – and I always remember this – everyone who was ever on Mike Shanahan's Washington staff hates
28:38Washington.
28:39They just absolutely – and I know it's a different owner, but Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, that whole group.
28:46I mean, going back to Washington, they hate everyone.
28:50I also think that with that offensive line and Kyron Williams and with Blake Corum,
28:55they could run the ball brilliantly against Washington.
28:59Puka Nakua right now is unstoppable.
29:01So, I love your take.
29:03I'm just not going to go there.
29:05I'll lay the five and a half with the Rams.
29:08Here are the rest of the picks for Week 9 in the NFL.
29:11I think this Cincinnati-Atlanta game is a tough one to pick, but I'm not going to mess around and
29:17find out.
29:18I'm going to take Joe Burrow and T. Higgins and Jamar Chase in Spain.
29:22We're going to lay the four and a half with the Dallas Cowboys.
29:26I think that you're going to see the Denver Broncos take care of business.
29:30I am going to roll with the New Orleans Saints.
29:33I'm not feeling Shador Sanders here.
29:36So, I think that that is going to be a really interesting spot.
29:39Looking forward to that one this weekend.
29:41So, I think that's going to be a really interesting game.
29:45I think when you take a look at the rest of the games coming up for Week 9 in the
29:49NFL,
29:49I am absolutely going to go with the New England Patriots and lay the three.
29:55And I think that San Francisco is going to be able to take care of business.
30:01We'll lay the ten with the 49ers.
30:09At the Knicks games, I would say it's very performative because, like, they just want to be seen at the
30:15game.
30:15They're not necessarily fans.
30:17Maybe Taylor Swift.
30:18I would agree.
30:19I don't know if I've seen her at any of the games.
30:21Yeah.
30:22Swifties not going like that, is she?
30:23Yeah, no.
30:24Swifties, I'm going to get some hate from Swifties.
30:25Everybody else is usually solid, like, you know, like Ben Stiller, Tracy, like, those are, those are.
30:30I guess she's got a lot going on, so she can't come all the time, but he kind of saved
30:35his ass.
30:36It's a little performative.
30:40See, I don't want to be the guy who's ripping Tyler Colick, but come on, Tyler.
30:46And everyone loves Tyler Colick, and Tyler Colick is having a really strong season.
30:50I'm a big Tyler Colick fan.
30:53First of all, don't rip Taylor Swift.
30:55That should be a life motto.
30:56Second of all, she's a New Yorker.
30:58She's been coming to Knicks game since you were playing at Marquette.
31:02Just take a breath, and whatever you do, just, it's not worth it.
31:08I know you're trying to, you know, shoot up in terms of be mad online.
31:14Just, why would you take a shot at Taylor Swift?
31:18Nixon 5, baby.
31:20That's the show.
31:21If it was any portion of the show, just do what I do.
31:22Watch it over and over again.
