00:00So LSU versus Alabama, 6-2, 14th-ranked LSU, 6-2, 5th-ranked Alabama.
00:10You know, it's really funny.
00:11But again, when that mess of a show was going on,
00:14I was annoyed at some of the other things that by the time,
00:19like I was kind of out before I ever even really saw the Bama ranking.
00:24You know what I mean?
00:25Like, it was a while before I realized what they had necessarily done.
00:30And guys, it's not that I don't think Alabama are a really good team
00:34who belong in the college football playoff.
00:36The South Carolina win has obviously aged very well.
00:40The win at Kentucky has obviously aged really well.
00:46I do think it's interesting that they have not beaten a team ranked
00:51at time of playing them.
00:52It's just funny to me that that's how it's gone.
00:55The home loss to Georgia got rolled up at Tennessee
00:59in what I think we can officially call the worst number of the season.
01:03It's 7.5 in that game.
01:04They didn't cover for a single, I didn't lead for a second,
01:08but nevertheless, when we head into this game here
01:13with a six-point number total, maybe a little bit on the climb back up,
01:1652.5, now maybe 53.5 here.
01:19Dave, what stands out to you when you line these teams up?
01:23And I'll freely admit, Kevin, that of all the games on the board this week,
01:26this one gave me the most anxiety,
01:29because this was the one that I just couldn't say definitively what I was.
01:33So, through full transparency, it is a no-pick for me.
01:36I'm not on this game.
01:37It's not going to be on my card.
01:39I can see either side happening.
01:41Like, Alabama is good enough,
01:42and in a position where we have to prove that we're number five in the country,
01:47and they can beat LSU.
01:47But you and I have discussed this for weeks now.
01:50LSU is probably the most talented team in the country.
01:52It can absolutely beat Alabama.
01:54I think the points are too much.
01:56So, if forced to pick it, which I am in some pools,
01:59I took Alabama plus the points.
02:01You're talking about two of the top 15 scoring offenses in the country,
02:04LSU averaging 40 points a game, Alabama 38 a game.
02:08If you want to take the over, because they average 78 points combined,
02:11but 52.5 is a big number,
02:13because these teams can play defense as well.
02:15The Tigers, one of the best defenses in the country,
02:17only allowing 16 points per game.
02:19So, my lean is to the over and Alabama,
02:23but it's not a strong lean.
02:24I could see either team doing whatever in this game.
02:27What's remarkable to me is,
02:30and we're not going to beat a dead horse here,
02:31is the rankings of these two teams.
02:34I couldn't believe LSU wasn't in the top 12,
02:36and I couldn't believe Alabama was high as five.
02:38And anybody who watched that show, like, where's Alabama?
02:42And the fact, yes, their losses have aged well,
02:45but how do you have a two-loss team number five in the country right off the bat?
02:52Right off the bat, because this is the same Alabama team,
02:55and it's controversial with the rankings,
02:57whether there's 12 teams or whether there's four teams,
03:00it's always Alabama.
03:02They can't seem to get themselves out of being on the bubble.
03:04And when they're on the bubble, the bubble does land their way.
03:07And I think Alabama's a good football team,
03:09but in no scenario do I put them number five to start this.
03:13And I don't have – I have this more of, like, Alabama 7-LSU 10,
03:18a 7-10 game instead of a 5-14 game.
03:22I also don't think LSU should be a touchdown favorite either.
03:26So this is where I knew – so, okay, here's what I want to say this.
03:34There are some early season games – you and I agree on this –
03:37where when you're putting together, like, college football futures
03:40and things like that, like, you have picks, right?
03:42Like, a week three, you're like, this is important.
03:44It's a swing game.
03:45I kind of need to know who I like, right?
03:49LSU-Alabama is a November game where that's true for me.
03:52Like, I know in August who I like going into the game.
03:57You might think that's impossible, dude.
04:00That's – like, or that's probably a bad process.
04:03I disagree.
04:05I've –
04:07If I were to say a coach off a bye week who dominates,
04:13the first name everyone would say is Andy Reid.
04:16Well, at some point in this lifetime, they should probably say Kalen DeBoer.
04:20He doesn't lose off bye.
04:22Doesn't.
04:23Doesn't happen.
04:25Kalen DeBoer plays Kirby smart twice a year.
04:30And when he plays him off a bye, he beats him.
04:34And when he's not, he loses.
04:36You know what didn't work out for DeBoer this year?
04:40The bye week wasn't before the Georgia game.
04:43You say limited the byes because they've added the conference games.
04:47And, you know, that's just how it goes sometimes.
04:51But Kalen DeBoer – and this has been going back to Washington.
04:56And these, by the way, guys, it's not even just, like, an in-season bye.
05:04It's how he went into a Pac-12 title game, right, and knocked off Oregon.
05:10Or how there was a, you know, time in between last year,
05:14college football playoff round one game against Oklahoma.
05:18That Alabama team that made the playoff last year was a corpse.
05:22Corpse.
05:23They were losing them in the regular season.
05:25They got drilled in the SEC championship game.
05:28I mean, drilled by Georgia.
05:30They got pumped by Indiana in round two
05:34and didn't play for the first half against Oklahoma
05:36and still won that game.
05:38This is what Kalen DeBoer does.
05:41It just is.
