00:00Somewhere like New York, we've gotten more than a quarter of an inch of rain, so it's something, but it's
00:06not where we're seeing the problems.
00:08That's more along the coast where we have some of these top rainfall totals, which certainly we're going to see
00:13higher totals than this.
00:14This is just some early reports that have come in.
00:17Virginia and New Jersey hit the hardest.
00:19Notice the bottom report here, the fifth top report, I guess you could say.
00:24Toms River, New Jersey, 2.75 inches of rain, and I point that out because if we go over to
00:31radar and look at our storm reports, who is on here?
00:36Toms River, New Jersey.
00:37My pen was not on here, so I moved to the box instead of underlining.
00:40There we go.
00:40Toms River, 166 flooded in spots coming just during the morning commutes.
00:47That's exactly what you want, right?
00:50Not.
00:51Plenty more flash flooding as we head further north.
00:53A lot of this is just roads closed.
00:55I want to zoom out a little bit.
00:56Let's take you to Long Island where lightning report.
00:59Yeah, I mentioned there could be some thunderstorms with this, mostly just rain, but even just a little bit of
01:05lightning, it causes problems.
01:08A home struck by lightning.
01:09Multiple windows blown out in Bayshore, New York, so Suffolk County, and this also led to a house fire around
01:16730 this morning.
01:18Very dangerous situation there.
01:20If we go a little further north, more flash flood reports.
01:23And I want to, let's see if I click on the right one, a gas station with several inches of
01:28flooding while some water was also entering the police department.
01:31This is actually a new one that I hadn't seen yet because they're clustered together here.
01:35Sometimes it's hard to click on the right one.
01:37This was around 1230 p.m.
01:40In this same area, we had a car stalled, so no surprise that we're seeing this level of storm reports
01:45close together here.
01:46We saw some really heavy rainfall at times here.
01:51Let's go ahead and talk about what is to come as we continue on here, taking another look at radar.
01:58We're done with the flash flood warnings, at least for now.
02:00Can't rule out some additional ones, but we're seeing more isolated downpours overall, and that's kind of been the trend.
02:07The modeling a little overdone, especially what I'm about to show you on future radar with how widespread the downpours
02:12are at once.
02:14But there's enough of the downpours that we're seeing the flash flooding, just like I've been warning you about.
02:18We're seeing the rainfall totals tick up.
02:22Now, as the day goes on, our forecasting team has been able to look at things and say, okay, for
02:26some of you that were on this map previously,
02:29the worst of the rainfall, the heaviest rain is over.
02:32You don't have to be as concerned about flash flooding anymore, but everybody else still highlighted on this map, including
02:37Boston,
02:38through tomorrow morning, we're still going to see problems.
02:41And I point out Boston specifically, because if we look at New England, you are going to see the rain
02:45longer than anybody else,
02:46even by 10 p.m. tonight.
02:48And remember, the widespread downpour is a little overdone on the model, but we're out of the mid-Atlantic really
02:54at this point.
02:54It's just New England, and you continue overnight to get rounds of rain, and then a little piece of moisture
03:00breaks off from the main line
03:01as it starts to depart tomorrow morning, and we see more rain in New England.
03:06Not as heavy, but still, it's going to linger.
03:09Then we have our area of low pressure moving across the region throughout the weekend.
03:13That brings some more rain and some downpours at times.
03:17Not going to completely rule out some very isolated flash flooding, but it's going to be nothing compared to what
03:21we've seen on the East Coast today.
03:23Now, as tends to be the trend, Maine, you get stuck with the rain.
03:26I know Jeff was just mentioning, a lot of you need the rain in Maine,
03:29but I'm sure you don't want your whole weekend a little bit of a rainier time for the rest of
03:34the Northeast.
03:35Sunday is going to be your better day to get out and about.
03:38Monday, we do have a little disturbance that's going to move through, so we're not completely dry.
03:44But, you know, it's not as high impact at least.
03:47Now, when all is said and done tomorrow morning, we likely will see some areas that get closer to that.
03:52Actually, the local storm, max six inches of rain, considering our top report as of now is closer to four
03:58inches.
03:58Of course, it's going to be New England that we're watching very closely tonight and through tomorrow morning.
