00:00:17In the world of hip-hop, beefs have escalated to unfathomable heights.
00:00:22The biggest artists in the music industry square off with each other while records sell
00:00:27soar. Even with the knowledge of how violent some of these beefs can become, artists sensitive
00:00:32to the criticism and aware of how that criticism can affect their bottom line strike out on
00:00:38record or by other means. Regional artists in the South and Midwest who have had to fight
00:00:44especially hard for their respect have created their own style of beef. While artists contend
00:00:50with the pressures of fame, they now have the added strain. In a volatile, brave new
00:00:55world are trying to ensure their personal safety and that of the people around them.
00:01:01There's always, always going to be somebody to come over you and overstep your boundaries.
00:01:05A lot of people are going to be whatever it takes in order to make it. If that's how you
00:01:08feel homeboy, then come out and say that to me. Don't shit on another nigga, man. Don't
00:01:14shit on him unless you're ready to go to fucking war. If I didn't know that I could beat the
00:01:18shit out of nigga when I saw him, I ain't going to pull my pistol out of his not a
00:01:21real legitimate
00:01:22street beef, then I wouldn't even engage in it. When you have beef, it's a problem.
00:01:27There's certain people that you can't even have a record beef with because it's going
00:01:32to turn into a street beef just because of the kind of person that they are.
00:01:35That's all it is, is fucking music, bruh. That's what's so fucking sittin' in about
00:01:39this shit, is music. Real beef's not going to be on wax. All that other shit, all that
00:01:44talking back and forth, that's just a gimmick. Niggas trying to sell records and they need to
00:01:48leave that shit alone before they get somebody hurt. That's beef. It don't let up. It ain't
00:01:53no sleep. It ain't no resting with that shit. Fuck you now and fuck you later. It's beef
00:01:59three. Beef three. Oh boy.
00:02:18beef three. Oh boy.
00:02:32beef three.
00:02:35Beef three.
00:03:37See, I shot it.
00:03:38This is his grandma's house and whatnot, coming up towards your right.
00:03:45This is the house to your right, right here.
00:03:50It's not a music beef.
00:03:53This is what people have confused.
00:03:54They think, oh, it's publicity.
00:03:56These niggas in magazines talking about, oh, no, it's not that.
00:03:59One of the most volatile neighborhoods in America, Jamaica, Queens, is known for its ruthless streets.
00:04:06But alliances made in the street game can become beef when those that make it out distance themselves with those
00:04:13they leave behind.
00:04:15With a street reputation, Bangor Smurf, whose son's godfather was 50, said acted as 50's friend and confidant.
00:04:24The beef started with my homie Bangor Smurf.
00:04:27As you know, he's incarcerated.
00:04:28Smurf was 50's everything.
00:04:30His shooter, his protection, his standby guy.
00:04:33He opened doors for him.
00:04:35Everything.
00:04:35That was his heart.
00:04:37While 50 was becoming a superstar, Bangor Smurf was arrested for reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.
00:04:45So when he got locked up, his bail was $75,000.
00:04:48Now at this point, get rich or die trying, did like $8 million.
00:04:52So, you know, 50 had that money to wipe his ass with.
00:04:55So we just keep calling him, keep calling him, man.
00:04:57We just getting the same answer.
00:04:59So we like, hold on, this nigga went and did things for you, behind you getting shot.
00:05:03My man was the one that retaliated, you know.
00:05:06You didn't go out and grab your gun.
00:05:08You didn't go and say, oh, these niggas shot me.
00:05:10I'm about to go find them niggas.
00:05:11My nigga was in the car, riding around.
00:05:14You know what I'm saying?
00:05:15A lot of niggas from the hood was riding around to take care of that beef for him.
00:05:18He wasn't grabbing no pistol.
00:05:20I feel he a bitch behind that because how you not going to send money to somebody that did, you
00:05:27know what I'm saying, took care of your business.
00:05:28That's your business.
00:05:29You got shot twice.
00:05:30Smurf didn't get shot.
00:05:31So finally, we get a Bill Barnes person that says they'll take the house.
00:05:36Smurf's mother's house had to be put up in order to get him out.
00:05:40And 7,500 from his hood niggas.
00:05:43This nigga, I called this nigga when I came out of the pen.
00:05:45I'm like, yo, 50, what's good?
00:05:47I'm like, yo, son, what's good?
00:05:48Why y'all niggas ain't come get me?
00:05:50This nigga, he can't even tell me why.
00:05:53He just started beefing.
00:05:54I'm like, what, nigga?
00:05:55You running around in town, I'll send you back to the hood to get your mind right.
00:05:58This nigga left me in there for four months, nigga.
00:06:00How you gonna send a nigga back to the hood to get his mind right?
00:06:03You know what getting your mind right in the hood is?
00:06:05Getting high and tearing shit up.
00:06:0650 now.
00:06:07This 50 multimillion dollar character that everybody's thinking he's fame, taking his shirt off, thinking he's cute.
00:06:13It's not loyal.
00:06:15So all that money you got, if you don't got loyalty, who's gonna respect you?
00:06:19There's certain people you don't trust, and then there's certain people you do trust.
00:06:23A nigga like Smurf, like, he knew Smurf was loyal to him, you know?
00:06:27Smurf would've laid down his life for 50, for 50 cents.
00:06:33Wow.
00:06:36Smurf would've went against me for 50, and not, you know, saying it's a bad thing, because it turned out
00:06:46to be a bad thing, but Smurf is a loyal person.
00:06:48That's how loyal he is, you know?
00:06:51That's just him, you know?
00:06:53He's too kind-hearted and whatnot.
00:06:55Even when Smurf came out on bail, he still wasn't going at 50's head.
00:07:01He still wasn't, yo, fuck 50, da, da.
00:07:03He was just hurt behind it.
00:07:04He was really hurt.
00:07:05He done slept in 50's house to protect him, laying his life down for this man, who can't, in return,
00:07:14at least bail him out.
00:07:15You owe your life to Smurf, actually, you know?
00:07:18So we still wasn't going to say nothing, all right, whatever, 50, da, da, da.
00:07:22He got on the mixtape.
00:07:24Hey, Smurf, don't think I don't hear you out there talking about me, you little dirtbag.
00:07:28Brush your teeth before you talk about me.
00:07:30I'm like God to you niggas.
00:07:32I'm like God to you niggas.
00:07:34I'm like God to you niggas.
00:07:36I'm like God to you niggas.
00:07:37I'm like God to you niggas.
00:07:39You ain't God, nigga.
00:07:40That's why I dropped What's Big.
00:07:41I ain't going to fuck about anything else he said, but that What's God shit really touched my heart.
00:07:45Smurf is heated now.
00:07:46It went from being hurt to being made, and that's when it all flipped.
00:07:53Acting at Smurf's mouthpiece, up-and-coming rap artist Domination shot back with Can't Teach Me How to Stunt.
00:08:01You ain't letting no cats pill, 50, lay off the steroids and Prozac pills.
00:08:05J-j-j-bastit, that shit is overdozer.
00:08:08Y'all sons ain't no motherfucking G-unit soldier.
00:08:10You're called bulletproof.
00:08:11At Summer Jam 2004, 50 played in his hometown of New York.
00:08:16Bangham Smurf and Domination were in attendance.
00:08:19We went to Summer Jam, 20-D.
00:08:21We went there to just make a statement.
00:08:23We're here.
00:08:24Anywhere you go, you can't escape us.
00:08:25I came up all with your wife tomorrow.
00:08:28You're stupid to call your homies.
00:08:30When he came out on the stage, we was already here.
00:08:33Fuck G-unit.
00:08:34I know you gon' let me in from this line.
00:08:37I know you gon' let me in.
00:08:38We were on the left side.
00:08:40And 50 stayed on the right side the whole time.
00:08:42He was like trying to ignore us and whatnot.
00:08:43But it just got to him.
00:08:45You know, 50 has an ego.
00:08:46So once something really touches his nerve, he wants to do something to touch your nerve.
00:08:57He comes over with a bottle of water.
00:08:59Now I'm thinking he gonna throw the whole bottle of water at us and cause some damage.
00:09:03This bitch nigga opens the bottle and throws the water out on us.
00:09:07So Smurf jumps over the barricade.
00:09:10When Smurf jumped over the barricade, security rustin'.
00:09:12My homie True that's locked up right now, grabbed a chair and flung it at it.
00:09:16Boom.
00:09:17So once one chair flowed, you know, 20 chairs flew behind him.
00:09:28Now we threw chairs at the niggas.
00:09:30They ain't throw them back.
00:09:31Nothing.
00:09:32Nothing.
00:09:33Their security guard tried to throw one back, but...
00:09:48We all wish that it could end, but you know, once somebody does something that is so crazy,
00:09:58crazy, like, your killer instinct kicks in.
00:10:0350, fuck you.
00:10:04And he know why, man, cause you not real, dude.
00:10:08You not at all, man.
00:10:09For real.
00:10:10It's loyalty and it's betrayal and there's nothing in between.
00:10:13And we loved you, man, real talk.
00:10:15Niggas loved you.
00:10:17Niggas loved you.
00:10:25One day I took my guy to the phone booth.
00:10:28He used the phone, right?
00:10:29We was in the old Lincoln and shit.
00:10:31I had some jewelry on and shit.
00:10:32And we pulled over.
00:10:34You know, I'm sipping a little something.
00:10:35So he was in the phone.
00:10:37I'm noticing he talking to one of his homies now as I pull up a part.
00:10:40So he come back.
00:10:41And he come to the car.
00:10:43He was like, yeah, man.
00:10:44And I'm thinking he finna introduce me to his guy or something.
00:10:46So he like, yeah, T-Man, just go and give it to him, man.
00:10:50Give him something.
00:10:50I'm like, man, what are you talking about?
00:10:51So I look.
00:10:53The nigga got a big ass.
00:10:55I don't know what the fuck it was.
00:10:56Four-five.
00:10:57Some type of big ass strap, man.
00:10:59Big ass police looking pistol.
00:11:00You know what I'm saying?
00:11:02Look at him with a straight evil look in his face.
00:11:05Like, man, give me that shit.
00:11:06He's like, what the fuck you got, nigga?
00:11:08Woo-woo.
00:11:08Then my guy said, man, Twister, just give it to him.
00:11:10Then he said, Twister?
00:11:11He was like, Twister?
00:11:13Man, my fault, man.
00:11:14Twister for real.
00:11:15He was like, man, I just got out the county, man.
00:11:18Woo-woo-woo.
00:11:18Man, my name Capone, man.
00:11:20My fault.
00:11:20But man, Red, I had you, Red, man.
00:11:22Man, I can't even do that to you, Twister, man.
00:11:24Put the strap in his pocket.
00:11:25Broke down to his knees.
00:11:27Started kicking his rhymes for me and everything.
00:11:29Gave me his number.
00:11:29He told me he was going to call the studio and everything.
00:11:32He's like, man, I can't do that to you, man.
00:11:33I got too much respect, man.
00:11:34Spit for me.
00:11:35He was like, I'll holler at you.
00:11:36Laugh.
00:11:42LA and New York may have had a head start in hip-hop,
00:11:45but by the late 90s, the whole country was getting into the act.
00:11:49Without the support of the music industry,
00:11:51many of these artists became entrepreneurs,
00:11:54creating their own style and sound.
00:11:56With a unique, super-fast delivery style that the Midwest could call its own,
00:12:02tension mounted between Twister and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
00:12:06over who originated the style.
00:12:09Twister was the first nigga, you know what I'm saying,
00:12:12that made it be known in the game,
00:12:13that rap fast, flat out.
00:12:15But when he did it first, you know what I'm saying,
00:12:18it was like niggas wasn't picking up on him.
00:12:21So Bone came out with it.
00:12:23Everybody loved him.
00:12:24So Bone really put it on the map.
00:12:26Honest to God, man,
00:12:27I really, really couldn't tell you where the shit came from.
00:12:30It was just like, boom, we came up out of nowhere.
00:12:32And I guess since we was the new niggas on the scene,
00:12:36you know what I mean,
00:12:36everybody wanted to pick a bone with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
00:12:42I never really understood it,
00:12:47because our styles really, to me,
00:12:49wasn't like how Twister was doing it.
00:12:51He was rapping fast and doing his thing and all that,
00:12:53but he wasn't flipping it with the Harmony
00:12:55and all that type of shit, you know what I mean?
00:12:57Want to give me full of wood,
00:12:58better get the whole motherfucking hood to come and use them back up.
00:13:01We can get into it if you want to do it.
00:13:02I'm leaking the fluid out of the bodies that want to come with this.
00:13:04Like, for some reason, that style,
00:13:06you know, everybody want to claim their style or whatever,
00:13:08but, you know, we all from the Midwest.
00:13:10I wouldn't say it was a Midwest thing,
00:13:12because we from 99th and St. Clair, Cleveland, Ohio.
00:13:15We was always trying to do us.
00:13:17We was always into us.
00:13:18Five niggas always stayed to theyself.
00:13:21I never bought Twister shit.
00:13:23I never heard none of my friends,
00:13:25never brought it to me, like,
00:13:26listen to this or none of that shit.
00:13:28In the beginning, it was a couple of dudes
00:13:30who said we had, you know,
00:13:32we supposedly had been their style, you know what I'm saying?
00:13:35But niggas ain't knowing, you know what I'm saying?
00:13:36We had never been outside of Cleveland.
00:13:38Maybe somebody got into his ear and said,
00:13:40oh, you know, they trying to do you or,
00:13:42you know what I mean?
00:13:43Because that's how it came to me.
00:13:44These motherfuckers got in our ear, like,
00:13:46yeah, you know these motherfuckers said
00:13:47y'all stole they style,
00:13:48and that's where it came from.
00:13:50After I heard about niggas had beef with us,
00:13:53that's when I started paying attention.
00:14:07If you look at the game from 1994 on,
00:14:12Bone Thugs-N-Harmony came with that staccato rapid fire,
00:14:17you know what I'm saying?
00:14:17From what I know, from what I heard,
00:14:19Twister was just going straight down the line.
00:14:21He wasn't pausing,
00:14:23boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
00:14:24You know what I'm saying?
00:14:25He wasn't flipping it.
00:14:25We wasn't flipping it the same.
00:14:36It never got personal with me and Twister,
00:14:39you know what I'm saying?
00:14:39Because like I said,
00:14:40when me and him met,
00:14:41it was love,
00:14:42and we kicked it like that.
00:14:44Shit, I drove out to his homeboy city,
00:14:47you know what I mean?
00:14:47Me and my wife drove out there,
00:14:50kicked it,
00:14:51me and her by ourselves,
00:14:52you know what I mean?
00:14:53So I was thinking like,
00:14:54I ain't know if it was going to be beef
00:14:56if these niggas were setting me up or what.
00:14:57We had a mutual friend.
00:14:59It's like,
00:15:00you know,
00:15:00niggas all mad at each other,
00:15:02and then somebody come up and say,
00:15:03man,
00:15:03I'm kicking it with Lazy,
00:15:05woo, woo, woo,
00:15:05and this your boy too,
00:15:06and he got money,
00:15:07and he like shit.
00:15:08Okay, fuck this.
00:15:09I want y'all to do a song together.
00:15:11I'm going to pay both of y'all to get on this song.
00:15:12Y'all going to do it.
00:15:13It's like,
00:15:14man,
00:15:14you know what I'm saying?
00:15:14We had a mutual homie
00:15:15that was so down
00:15:17that we had no choice
00:15:18but to get cool,
00:15:19like as far as me and Lazy,
00:15:20you know,
00:15:21and that's what kind of
00:15:22diffused the whole beef situation.
00:15:24He came to me like a man,
00:15:25I came to him like a man.
00:15:27We talked about it,
00:15:28figured out that it was all bullshit
00:15:30that was in the air,
00:15:31and shit,
00:15:32we dropped the motherfucking jewel,
00:15:33Midwest Invasion.
00:15:34Midwest Invasion
00:15:35we bringing a new millennial tone now.
00:15:37No, we didn't just
00:15:38we got better
00:15:38but you didn't take it over.
00:15:40We need to make a money
00:15:41and it's like we're getting children.
00:15:42Do that fake people care.
00:15:44For the world,
00:15:44motherfucking to me.
00:15:45The Midwest Invasion
00:15:46squashed the beef
00:15:47and became an instant classic.
00:15:49I love that nigga
00:15:50like I love my own brother,
00:15:52you know what I'm saying?
00:15:53And of course,
00:15:53we can do some music all day long.
00:15:55That's what we here for.
00:15:57When you get older,
00:15:58you always look back
00:15:59and be like,
00:16:00man,
00:16:00we were some stupid motherfuckers,
00:16:01man,
00:16:02fighting over that dumb shit
00:16:03who can rap better,
00:16:04who can rap faster.
00:16:06That shit young-minded people
00:16:08think about,
00:16:09you know what I'm saying?
00:16:10But once you're older,
00:16:11if you make it to get that old,
00:16:13if you get that chance
00:16:13to really reflect black
00:16:15and be like,
00:16:15man,
00:16:16that shit was dumb as fuck.
00:16:17That's all you can do.
00:16:18You live and learn.
00:16:19You make a mistake,
00:16:20don't make the same mistake twice,
00:16:22especially if it don't kill you.
00:16:46Chink!
00:16:48Chink!
00:16:50Fuck them all, nigga.
00:16:52You know what you can do,
00:16:53suck a nigga dick.
00:16:54Any motherfucker got a problem with them,
00:16:56they got a problem with me.
00:16:57They don't know motherfuckers
00:16:58gonna see me and my comrades
00:16:59in these streets.
00:17:07few artists have single-handedly lifted a city from obscurity to prominence but if one artist
00:17:13is recognized for doing so it's nelly his name is almost synonymous with st louis maybe it's
00:17:20because of his album nellyville which sold an amazing 9 million copies becoming the second
00:17:25most successful album of 2003 nelly introduced a brand new flavor of countrified midwest slang to
00:17:33hip-hop nelly's fame also gave him the ability to control the tightly knit scene of st louis and
00:17:39help out other artists by providing financing studio time and opening slots for his tours but
00:17:46the long line of other artists ahead of him and a lack of recognition caused one of nelly's emerging
00:17:51artists singing to become disenchanted we first took duke back out on on tour um back before he
00:17:59had a deal so we doing these shows we rocking these shows and and you know i mean it's like
00:18:05they're
00:18:05seeing us but at the same time they're not seeing you know what i'm saying he felt like if we
00:18:10took
00:18:10him on tour and they don't even come watch us perform you know part of the reason why we took
00:18:16you on tour out there before that so if the show started eight o'clock and y'all going to
00:18:20eight we
00:18:21going on 9 30 so we ain't got to come to nine o'clock or 8 45 so they're touching
00:18:26them we got
00:18:27to stay the fans who they want to come and get autographs from us yeah and you know so we
00:18:31give
00:18:32autographs and they shut that down like nope uh-uh ain't nobody gave us shit like that ain't nobody in
00:18:38the motherfucking house bought a ticket to see no chingy instead of waiting for a deal with nelly
00:18:42chingy got his own deal with ludicrous dtp label releasing the multi-platinum selling album jackpot
00:18:50dude didn't want to wait dude but now he got his own deal still was low i gotta find out
00:18:56you got a
00:18:56deal from somebody else on the radio i guess i was getting too big i guess my status was growing
00:19:01you
00:19:01know what i'm saying and i i don't know if it felt like a threat to him i don't know
00:19:05what type of nigga
00:19:06um with millions of dollars would be tripping off another man coming up trying to make some money too
00:19:12we just saw it as people coming into st louis trying to take advantage of shit that we built
00:19:17the people outside of st louis you know what i'm saying trying to come in steal bits and pieces
00:19:21just because it's hot right now they're not really giving a fuck about the artist or the person that's
00:19:25in it they just coming in just trying to steal bits and pieces it's just him being him and not
00:19:30to want to see nobody do good see nobody come up nelly also felt disrespected by chingy in the press
00:19:36for him to say that nelly and the st lunatics didn't have no part in him getting a deal
00:19:42it's like saying run dmc and them ain't got no bearing on me getting a deal everybody that come
00:19:47out help the next motherfucker you know what i'm saying and that's all we was trying to say like
00:19:51oh we don't sit up here and open up magazines and say well these niggas ain't having to do with
00:19:55me getting no deal nigga he was on tour with us we got you on tape with your jersey on
00:19:59backwards
00:19:59standing on the side of the stage like you want to be a lunatic i wasn't just an average guy
00:20:03just out there walking around just want to be like him want to be like him want to be like
00:20:08him
00:20:08and follow i'm not a follower when i was out of town on the road doing our lunatic thing where
00:20:13you

00:20:18my food
00:20:19i'm sitting at home my wife giving you a hundred dollars and sending y'all go out of town sending
00:20:23y'all money and helping y'all ali really want to be where he at and he's not he sucks
00:20:29so he feed a
00:20:30lot of bull crap and put it in his mind and have him thinking different things the beef began to
00:20:35escalate with nelly on his 2004 album sweat released the track another one a backhanded
00:20:42form of flattery which was meant to remind the younger artists who came first everybody telling
00:20:47me like you hear nelly dish you on the song and people was telling me about it before the song
00:20:51even
00:20:51came out i tried to listen to it to get something different from it to be like well and i
00:20:56know it's
00:20:56probably to other people saying like just a couple lines that they may have said but listen to the
00:21:00song song called ain't another one i listened to it a couple times saying if i can get something

00:22:29came out with the diss record kiss my ass with that bullshit
00:22:35at the radio music awards in las vegas chingy approached nelly to squash the beat
00:22:44i'm at the gambling table the nigga comes up in vegas and he's sitting like yo man i just want
00:22:50to talk i said okay talk we didn't get nowhere in vegas we when we was talking we didn't get

00:25:03and now we
00:25:04seeing the damn i'm man i'm fucked up right now man let's just end this shit face
00:25:08he also challenged nelly's claim of originating dirty he didn't start the word dirty he think he
00:25:14started the word dirty being started the word dirty shit my i got cousins and me and everybody
00:25:1910 years ago used to say dirty that's any rap that's any rap in st louis right now on current
00:25:24and any tracing anybody back from when the st louis first came out saying the word dirty
00:25:29trace them i bet you don't hurt dirty and nobody rap nobody none he came out first and um put
00:25:38the
00:25:38on the map we respect him for that okay you did that you know i'm saying but you not finna

00:25:43try to take off credit like you just started everything and you this big fucking king of
00:25:47st louis it's not you're not i came up with the word dirty st louis is repping dirty first
00:25:53as tension began to heat up on the streets of st louis between the chingy camp and nelly's
00:25:59dirty ent camp chingy knew there was one man who could reason with both artists
00:26:04like my people's is his people like he got a cousin that's like my cousin that be with him
00:26:09all the time chingy mentioned him jay and boo i raised a little dude since he was six
00:26:14and i talked to him and you know what i'm saying and he be like the h i'm gonna talk
00:26:18to little
00:26:19cuz man all the cousins a grown man and he a thinking man he just ain't no i'm saying no
00:26:23guy that's out here he a thinking man you know something i'm saying yeah he'll talk to this
00:26:27man now we gotta sit down and make it up we men it's over i'll give you my word it's
00:26:31over it's
00:26:31over it's over bam you want to sit down and have a kumbaya although nelly is resistant to having
00:26:37and sit down with chingy he did call for an end to the beef if it gets squashed today whether
00:26:41it gets squashed tomorrow it'll be squashed it's squashed don't nobody do nothing dirty

00:26:52us right now it's all we good we should everybody chill we chill we go this way we go our
00:26:57way
00:27:08what's beef beef is when a nigga like you can't sleep wake up with no appetite and you can't eat
00:27:14better look both ways before you walk in the streets nigga that's beef what's beef beef is
00:27:32down south you know we don't have all the record labels the depth jams the sony's the universals
00:27:38you know people in new york artists that are from the east coast i mean shit you can just wake
00:27:42up and
00:27:42walk down the street and see depth jam down here shit you gotta catch a flight already we got people
00:27:48and the north feel that they're you know superior they're intelligent people on the side are dumb
00:27:53and slow and don't know anything so you know definitely i mean people on the side work harder
00:27:58leaving the club drunk i'm three cars behind and i don't need no help when i handle my biz
00:28:03damn you rap niggas be on my dick more than my bitch i'm not a cupcake nigga i'm hard as
00:28:08a rock
00:28:09i'm like pock i got shot then i checked myself out the doc told me to get rest but i
00:28:13went to the lab
00:28:14i'm hitting you with a uppercut you shouldn't have went for that jab now my whole state pissed
00:28:19because you don't know who you diss you diss me then you diss the whole screw up click bitch
00:28:24those artists go through so much down there and most people don't see it unless you're down there
00:28:28and they can't break a record on the radio they have to go to the club and get that record
00:28:33popping
00:28:34in a club and that's almost impossible just imagine going to new york and every club you have to get
00:28:39that record spot i don't think the forefathers of the south definitely don't they don't get the
00:28:44credit they deserve you know what i'm saying for for what they do period you know and that's just
00:28:49that's life
00:28:54we don't get the same opportunities that other places get but it ends up being a blessing
00:29:02because we know our business we know retail because most of the rappers that own record stores
00:29:08you know what i'm saying we know i'm all producer not because i wanted to be a producer
00:29:13but because i couldn't get no beats from nobody else as much as they have to work harder to get
00:29:18their spins or you know get their record broken they have so much they get so much more of the
00:29:24returns because they're independent while people up north were saying please listen to my demo
00:29:29niggas down here was saying i'll go on the corner on boulevard open a trunk and blast my shit and
00:29:34sell 10 000 units
00:29:36ain't the nigga to start trouble but i know how to end it and i don't play by the rules
00:29:41dog i know how to bend it
00:29:42real niggas respect me they know i ain't no hoe but it ain't take me phone videos to go go
00:29:49all the different things that you know what i guess will be looked at as things that are connected
00:29:57with that adversity they're actually a blessing and make us stronger
00:30:00you can't eat better look both ways before you walk in the streets
00:30:04nigga that's beef what's beef beef is when a nigga like you can't sleep wake up with no appetite and
00:30:11you
00:30:11can't eat better look both ways before you walk in the streets cause you don't want to bump heads with
00:30:17a nigga like me
00:30:20violence has often been a consequence to settling differences among artists involved with beef
00:30:26artists now have to employ measures to secure their safety some choose to surround themselves with large
00:30:32entourages others choose professional security sometime employing off-duty and retired police
00:30:39others feel it's necessary to carry a weapon and protective armor and some artists have decided to
00:30:45forego these security measures and travel solo leaving their destiny to a higher power
00:30:51so i walk around the way i do now i don't be worrying about none of these motherfuckers man word
00:30:55up man
00:30:56god is my motherfucking bodyguard word the mother
00:30:59for superstar artists engaged in beef homes become fortress with sentries on the lookout
00:31:07leaving the house means traveling with armed guards in black suits and cars becoming armored vehicles
00:31:13capable of withstanding attacks from gunfire and explosives history has proved that record sales increased
00:31:20with artists engaged in beef but with so much that can be lost so quickly is it worth it
00:31:26i could have a whole army y'all could surround me out here with tanks
00:31:30and one motherfucker walk right across that tightrope
00:31:35black's down he's down what the fuck what was all your protection for what did it do what
00:31:43a nigga still walk past that tightrope and hit me in the head five times
00:31:48any nigga that walk around talking about i don't need no bodyguard blah blah blah blah blah this blah blah
00:31:53that
00:31:53nigga you a fool and that's why they can get killed every goddamn day because they stupid
00:31:57i'll be arming up that stuff all that shit you dig and yeah you might see me in a couple
00:32:03places
00:32:03with a blacked out vehicle and a nigga with a badge or something yeah
00:32:07i'm the first one to see someone like look at this nigga's nigga got three bios this nigga's pussy
00:32:13you gotta play it smart sometimes you dig but the goons is always with me my niggas is always with
00:32:18me
00:32:18i ain't hard to find and i ain't hard to touch you smell me i'm not the prisoner of this
00:32:23shit
00:32:23but at the end of the day some crazy shit happened and yeah and you'd be happy like oh thank
00:32:30god
00:32:30because if this wouldn't happen this could happen i think if most guys really thought of that
00:32:35if they didn't think they would be be surrounded by bodyguards and you know 20 homies and so on and
00:32:43so forth
00:32:44a lot of these guys probably wouldn't say the things that they say they would be a little more mindful
00:32:49if they knew that it'd be a one-on-one situation most of the time
00:32:54i run my shit like them all like i'm the boss straight up clover g boss you see it five
00:33:01it's five under bosses
00:33:0350 niggas with foley clover chains in america spread it out so i'ma leave it at that
00:33:09if you're supposed to be so gangsta and all this you don't need no police
00:33:13you don't need no police
00:33:15you don't need them uh the cannons
00:33:18but you know but the cops ain't gonna do nothing for real they're gonna let you get hurt too
00:33:23you know cause the cops the cops aren't gonna allow to do a certain thing
00:33:25the bodyguard has actually caused problems where they're too violent pushing people out of the way
00:33:34not being respectful to others and have actually uh shall we say heated a situation
00:33:39there could have been nothing more than just a simple walk by of an individual
00:33:43if you got if you got some cancer juices down for the team you ain't got to worry about no
00:33:47police
00:33:48i don't
00:33:49ever since nwa's fuck the police and ice t's cop killer hip-hop artists have expressed their frustrations with police
00:33:57today hip-hop artists sometimes have to protect themselves even from those empowered to protect
00:34:04you don't put your fucking hand on me you feel what i'm saying
00:34:11in orlando florida recording artist little scrappy performed at a benefit show helping to raise money for dr phillips high
00:34:19school
00:34:19police were on hand to provide security and little scrappy would soon learn that no good deed goes unpunished
00:34:32the event was to give back to the kids you know what i'm saying
00:34:35it was in the school auditorium and when i was doing it i was crunk i got them amped up
00:34:42when nobody on the floor at first
00:34:44when i came up that's when everybody rushed to the floor and it was it got packed like suicidally packed
00:34:50like i couldn't even see you know what i'm saying like i'm like damn
00:34:56i'm up there just doing my shit you know what i'm saying
00:35:03jump out in the crowd
00:35:08what's a show if they can't touch you then you just uh
00:35:11up in the ass motherfuckers
00:35:20the crowd was so amped up they cut the music off the cop took the mic was talking to the
00:35:27kids
00:35:27one of my managers came up they was like instead of you trying to be a superstar honestly jump down
00:35:32there and help them kids down there
00:35:35you know what i'm saying
00:35:35throws me back to mike turns around and just bumped up to my manager you know what i'm saying
00:35:42so we were like hold on that's some nigga shit that's like some street fighting shit
00:35:48that's when it all started like a hundred cops got on stage man
00:35:52he grabbed one of my producers
00:35:54and hold on you can't push him like that
00:35:57you can't do that that ain't right you know what i said that ain't right
00:35:59you know what i'm saying he let him go and he broke through the whole crowd just pushed me out
00:36:03the stage
00:36:08and when he did that i lost it you know what i'm saying i lost it i was ready to
00:36:13fight one of them
00:36:14you know i was like i was on some real let's fight the police type shit
00:36:21i was like you know what fuck the police if i don't get no goddamn justice around this bitch
00:36:27y'all motherfuckers gonna learn goddamn
00:36:31they didn't want to handle the situation
00:36:33they wanted to handle the situation
00:36:36like they wanted to fight us
00:36:37they took out their tasers
00:36:39their guns doing me like this
00:36:41shut the fuck up and shit
00:36:42and i told them what you gonna do to me
00:36:44you gonna shoot me in front of all these kids
00:36:46and they see and everybody see i ain't this
00:36:49shit do you that's what you gonna do
00:36:51you gonna fuck yourself up
00:36:52and that's what they did
00:37:02the orlando police department claimed that little scrappy was warned not to use profanity
00:37:07and was not allowed to remove his shirt
00:37:09officer richard bailey jr claimed that the men on the stage were attempting to invoke a riot response from the
00:37:16crowd
00:37:17it was so humiliating
00:37:18the way it went down
00:37:20lil scrappy is now engaged in a lawsuit with the orlando police department
00:37:24and arresting officer richard bailey jr
00:37:27and is seeking 250 million dollars of compensation
00:37:31nigga my back hurt me
00:37:32i hope so
00:37:35mixtape djs have been around almost as long as hip hop itself
00:37:39but recently mixtape djs have taken this underground art to mainstream popularity
00:37:46mixtapes
00:37:47usually a blend of different artists and producers mixed together with a variety of different beats
00:37:53mixtape djs have elevated the art by incorporating audio bits and sound design
00:37:59the arrangement of the mixtape speaks to the personality of the dj
00:38:03as hip hop comes full circle
00:38:06today's mixtape djs
00:38:07have the power to break new artists
00:38:09as never before
00:38:11but along with this new found power

00:38:29and we give it to the people and we give it to the streets
00:38:31and we bang out
00:38:32you know the artists bring the music to the dj

00:38:55but at the same time i am a medium to get it out
00:38:58this is one dj game it's called uh
00:39:00i'm gonna play the middleman between artists
00:39:02you know what i'm saying i'm gonna get your disc record
00:39:04then i'm gonna let the next nigga hear what you said about him
00:39:06and then he gonna get a disc record
00:39:08and i'm gonna make money off of both you motherfuckers
00:39:10that's what djs play that's the dj game of the day
00:39:13and it's not a lot of them doing that
00:39:14it's the ones that's the new djs
00:39:16uh who really don't know what the fuck they doing
00:39:19and really don't know about the respect level in hip hop
00:39:21and uh those the djs that uh
00:39:24they go get record shoved
00:39:25all in the asshole when we catch them
00:39:27and they know who they are man so i don't even gotta
00:39:29you know i'll catch you at the after party
00:39:31you know doing your little thing ever ever
00:39:33and punch you in your fucking mouth
00:39:34everybody in most of the mixtapes play street politics
00:39:37so and that's definitely something you don't do
00:39:39in a mixtape game you know what i mean
00:39:40that's just something that's a no no
00:39:42there's been lots of instances throughout you know time
00:39:45where it's like you know the artist is kind of taking
00:39:47matters into his own hands
00:39:48you know when beat down a dj
00:39:50you know so it's definitely you know
00:39:52you're definitely worried
00:39:55you know when you're putting out some
00:39:57that you know you're not supposed to be putting out
00:40:00an example of playing one side against the other
00:40:03happened when young buck
00:40:04asked t.i and ludicrous who were beefing at the time
00:40:07to appear on the straight out of cassville record
00:40:10on the track stomp
00:40:11most people got in touch with my people
00:40:14and yeah and i did it
00:40:15that's your nieces and your nephews who the shit
00:40:18real nigga see the difference between you and this
00:40:21me getting beat down that's ludicrous
00:40:24you know ludicrous heard the song
00:40:25asked to get on it
00:40:27we would have went in there at the same time
00:40:29and we had intentions on going at each other on the record
00:40:32then you'd have heard a different record
00:40:34it was a little unfair because
00:40:37ludicrous got on the song after the ti verse was already laid down
00:40:41so pimpin' me easy quit catchin' feelings
00:40:44cause you worth a couple hundred grand and i'm worth millions
00:40:47nobody's thinkin' bout you plus your beef ain't legit
00:40:49so please stay off the t-i-p-o my dear
00:40:53that was some real foul shit
00:40:55you know it was like okay i got this man on track
00:40:59i'm gonna go to this man and say look look how he talking
00:41:01he didn't give me
00:41:01in other words it wasn't no fair situation
00:41:04that man didn't have enough time to respond to that man
00:41:07the public doesn't know this
00:41:09but you know the reason why
00:41:10there's no response to the stomp record
00:41:13or ti's not on the album version
00:41:16is because Chris, Shaka, Jason and ti sat down
00:41:21and squashed all that shit
00:41:22before that shit even hit the public
00:41:24MC's have always boasted about their prowess on the mic
00:41:28LL Cool J once proclaimed himself as the greatest MC ever
00:41:32creating tension with Ice-T who took that pronouns personally
00:41:36fortunately that beef was squashed by Africa Babada and the Zulu nation
00:41:41recently one of Atlanta's premier MC's
00:41:44T.I. has proclaimed himself king of the south
00:41:47in a region known for its self-made millionaire MC's
00:41:51some have taken issue
00:41:52a lot of people have had objections to this whole king of the south thing
00:41:57and most of this shit all stems from that
00:41:59most people and most artists is going to rate they self just what they is
00:42:03and how they feeling and they heart
00:42:04T.I. understand that he done did a bunch of work
00:42:08in his music industry in his streets
00:42:10and in the game period
00:42:12and clearly he done paid this dude
00:42:14and you got to respect that
00:42:15you got to be a worthy king
00:42:17you got to be a humble king
00:42:18you got to be
00:42:19you know what I'm saying
00:42:20I'm willing to sit down and holler at anybody with some sense
00:42:23LL say he's the greatest rapper
00:42:26and niggas win at his head
00:42:27nobody win at T.I.
00:42:29so he is the king of the south
00:42:31I don't feel like I'm better than nobody else
00:42:33but at the same time
00:42:34I feel like
00:42:37I feel like I have a lot more talent
00:42:39and a lot more
00:42:41a lot more of a
00:42:43a lot more of a solid background
00:42:45than a lot of other people
00:42:47who give credit for a lot of shit that they ain't really do
00:42:50you let me know
00:42:51what movie you watched
00:42:53in the beginning of the movie
00:42:54you seen the king
00:42:54and at the end of the movie he wasn't dead
00:43:02I met the dude
00:43:03we had a source photo shoot backstage
00:43:06and I see Flip in New York
00:43:08when we were shooting the cover for the source
00:43:09I was late
00:43:10cause I was getting my hair braided or whatever
00:43:12you know what I mean?
00:43:13so they let people come in my trailer
00:43:15I don't let no motherfuckers come in my trailer
00:43:16it's mighty hoish of him
00:43:20to let somebody just basically like
00:43:22take your space
00:43:24cause I spent way more time
00:43:25we were smoking, drinking, kicking and chilling on the trail
00:43:27with me and my party
00:43:28producer Nick Fury asked T.I. to do a verse
00:43:31on Little Flip's Game Over remix
00:43:33while at the photo shoot
00:43:35T.I. discussed doing his verse
00:43:37I had spoke to Flip
00:43:39I had spoke to Columbia
00:43:41just after this man's merit
00:43:43because I know him and we cool
00:43:44he produced a song
00:43:46and he asked me to do a verse for him
00:43:48for the remix
00:43:49so I did it
00:43:51I appreciate you know
00:43:52you did a verse
00:43:53but hey
00:43:53I didn't know I already did it
00:43:54so
00:43:54I told him he couldn't be on the remix
00:43:56and after that
00:43:57he went to jail
00:43:58we shot the cover over
00:44:00got out of jail
00:44:01and I was on the cover
00:44:02and
00:44:03it was jealousy man
00:44:04soon after the store's photo shoot
00:44:06T.I. was arrested for a parole violation
00:44:09for crack cocaine possession
00:44:11and was spending the next nine months
00:44:13in Fulton County prison
00:44:14T.I. was locked up
00:44:16you know earlier
00:44:17earlier on in the year
00:44:18he was locked up
00:44:18so Flip was getting it
00:44:20you know
00:44:20Flip really was shining
00:44:21why T.I. did some time
00:44:23the story goes

00:44:46Flip was talking some shit
00:44:47you know what I'm saying

00:50:24the whole sound in the stadium just shut off
00:50:27we was go get out and go up there
00:50:28and they like man you know if something go go down
00:50:30Now, security, police, all these motherfuckers are like, hey, man, listen, they just shut
00:50:36this shit down.
00:50:37Now, if I'm at home and I diss a nigga, they ain't gonna cut the music off on me.
00:50:41When he was at home and right after he dissed me, they cut the show.
00:50:46He sent his father to call me, like his father called me before they came to the birthday
00:50:52bash and was like, hey, man, can we squash this?
00:50:55And, you know, yada, yada, yada, trying to, you know, just trying to, trying to mediate.
00:51:01So I was like, honestly, man, you didn't get him in this situation and I don't see how
00:51:06very well how you could get him out.
00:51:08You weren't on the stage with this man when he was, when he was talking down.
00:51:13I mean, you definitely aren't aware of his every action and his every statement.
00:51:20So, I mean, that man need to stand up on his own, too.
00:51:24When I heard him in interviews, like, yeah, I wouldn't send my daddy to go handle my
00:51:27business.
00:51:28I didn't send him the, I didn't tell you, hey, Kyle, yeah, Kyle, this nigga.
00:51:31He did that shit on his own because he my daddy and he from the streets and he my daddy.
00:51:36You dig what I'm saying?
00:51:37So, ain't no nigga gonna give a fuck about you more than a motherfucker that had you.
00:51:41You see what I'm saying?
00:51:43So, when he put his name in there, like, I sent him to go handle that shit, that's when
00:51:47I'm like, okay, you go disrespect my dad like it's a, all right, well, cool.
00:51:51Now, it's serious.
00:51:51Then he went and he did a show, I think, the next night or the night after, and I think
00:51:57he digitally imposed my head on top of a, on top of an Ethiopian's body.
00:52:03Okay, that's cool.
00:52:04But, like, that's, that's fictional.
00:52:09This is, this is make-believe what you're doing here.
00:52:11What I came with was facts.
00:52:14This is the truth.
00:52:16You dig what I'm saying?
00:52:17I think that's when Flip went to London and did the Tim Westwood and, you know, it was
00:52:23pop saying, you know, he's 500,000, I'm a platinum artist and you're a gold artist and all that
00:52:29type shit.
00:52:29He went way over to the UK, way over the UK on a radio station, did an interview and a
00:52:37little

00:54:30What the fuck?
00:54:31Scarface.
00:54:47I didn't spit with the best of them and held my own.

00:55:17Come on, gangster.
00:55:18I mean, come on, man.
00:55:20What is it, what is that to contest?
00:55:22Like the man ain't from Cloverland.
00:55:24I am from Cloverland.
00:55:25He ain't from Bankhead.
00:55:26He from Riverdale.
00:55:27All that $22 million man shit, man, that's false.
00:55:31If you mad about one thing, you go talk about one thing and that's it.
00:55:34You know what I'm saying?
00:55:35What the fuck my deal got to do with the beef?
00:55:36If you don't like me, why you go get a grill like me?
00:55:39If you don't like me, why you do a song with Destiny Child like me?
00:55:42The name of my album is Underground Legend.
00:55:44Your name, Urban Lady.
00:55:47Come on, man.
00:55:48That's some girl shit, dog.
00:55:50It wasn't my business to say that you ain't really from this hood that you been claiming.
00:55:55It wasn't my business to say, okay, you really can't rap for real and you had people writing
00:55:58your raps.
00:55:59It wasn't my business to say that you claiming you got this much money and really you don't
00:56:04even, you not even receiving residuals from your own project.
00:56:07That wasn't my business to say that.
00:56:09But now you're going to speak on me, all right, cool.
00:56:12Now I'm going to hold a mirror up.
00:56:13I'm going to show you who you are.
00:56:15There's nothing to talk about a nigga, man.
00:56:17That's what we used to do in high school.
00:56:18Sit back and rank on a nigga, talk about a nigga's clothes and teeth or whatever.
00:56:22That's easy.
00:56:23Next time you speak on my kids, next time you holler about him, I'm going to snitch and
00:56:26all that other shit, I'm going to see you.
00:56:28In March 2005, T.I. was on tour promoting his album, Urban Legend.
00:56:34While in Houston, doing a radio promo and shooting a DVD.
00:56:39T.I. decided to head to Cloverland in hopes of exposing Flip as a non-Cloverland resident.
00:56:46As T.I. pulled into this notoriously dangerous section of Houston, right behind was Lil Flip.
00:56:53Clover G. Underboss, Black Al Capone, punched T.I.
00:56:57A fight ensued which was broken up when someone fired off a round from a handgun.
00:57:02You looking at a nigga who didn't took a bullet and wised up and learned how you treat motherfuckers.
00:57:06And you looking at a nigga who never took a bullet, been to jail, didn't learn how to
00:57:09treat motherfuckers from keep going to jail and still go be ignorant.
00:57:12Soon after, Rapalot CEO and power broker Jay Prince initiated a sit-down where both sides
00:57:20squash the beef.
00:57:22When you get older, you mature, man.
00:57:24And I'm trying to sell records and enjoy my money, be around, not be looking for niggas
00:57:28trying to do this and all that.
00:57:29And whether I like it or he likes it or not, even though we have an issue with one another,
00:57:36we're still working toward the same common goal.
00:57:38That's to put the South on top.
00:57:40And that's that.
00:57:44So, do you guys, I mean, gang, you know, made it big and everything.
00:57:48Do you guys ever see him back here?
00:57:50What?
00:57:51See, gang, over here?
00:57:52What?
00:57:53Fuck, nah.

00:57:54Have you heard that he moved out?
00:57:55I mean, where is he hanging out?
00:57:57Do you know?
00:57:57Hey, shit, probably in the sunset somewhere.
00:57:59Tell him how niggas do when they go four times platinum.
00:58:01They lead the hood, move the riverside.
00:58:03He went four times platinum.
00:58:04Look what he gives me.
00:58:05Fuck, gang.
00:58:05Game?
00:58:06Over here?
00:58:07What would happen if you ran into the gang?
00:58:08Oh, what?
00:58:09Should we gonna fuck his ass up, probably?
00:58:10Shit, you know how we...
00:58:12Oh, my fucking God.
00:58:14Man, fam.
00:58:15That's fucked up.
00:58:17That's my nigga running.
00:58:18Wall Street.
00:58:20With a pedigree of numerous industry shakers,
00:58:23by 2000, hip-hop in the West had fallen on hard times.
00:58:28As record companies looked elsewhere for artists,
00:58:31it would take the top East Coast rapper
00:58:33to anoint an underground mixtape king
00:58:35to resurrect the West Coast.
00:58:38However, the relationship with 50 Cent
00:58:40and the gang would get off to a rocky start.
00:58:48Get a call, I look at my next tail,
00:58:50and it's 50.
00:58:5250 call, like,

01:05:45If we're going to do it, I do it.
01:05:46Boom.
01:05:46I lay my part and I'm bigging him up.
01:05:49What's beef?
01:05:50Beavis for real niggas to squash it and come through in twin SL coops that's topless.
01:05:54Yuck got the bay like game got Compton.
01:05:57Detox like Doc Trey and Pup Cronin.
01:05:59But perhaps taking cue from what happened with DJ Clue and Joe Button, the game,
01:06:05getting the track after Yuck Mouth recorded his verse, decided to fire more shots.
01:06:10Yuck Mouth learned a lesson in the art of war.
01:06:13So he get the verse.
01:06:15You know what I mean?
01:06:16He get on there and diss the nigga.
01:06:18Nigga, I don't squash beef for nothing.
01:06:20I squash the beef because Speedy, my homeboy cousin.
01:06:22It ain't about bloodin'.
01:06:24It ain't about Crips.
01:06:25It's about Gonzo riding up my dick.
01:06:27I don't know what to do with this little guy, man.
01:06:29You got a little guy and he got some cute little braids and I like the braids.
01:06:34The braids is, you know, my bitches, they got braids just like them.
01:06:36So I'm familiar with the little extension braids and it's cute.
01:06:39He set me up.
01:06:40You know what I mean?
01:06:40A nigga set a nigga up on some bitch shit.
01:06:42You feel me?
01:06:42I was trying to be a real nigga.
01:06:44You know what I mean?
01:06:45Out of everything because it's deeper than me and the gang.
01:06:47On some real shit.
01:06:48You know what I mean?
01:06:49It's deeper.
01:06:50It could be the bay against LA.
01:06:52I back to Yuck Mouth.
01:06:53We cool for now.
01:06:54You can come outside.
01:06:55Ain't nobody gonna shoot you down.
01:06:57Go ahead and live your life.
01:06:58Won't be no gunplay.
01:07:00I'll see you in the streets.
01:07:01You gonna have to fight me one day.
01:07:02So I'm like, okay, man.
01:07:03What the fuck can I do?
01:07:05We gonna do a video for it.
01:07:07You know what I mean?
01:07:07This nigga wanna do the little radio shit.
01:07:09We gonna do a video.
01:07:10And we gonna post that shit up on the forum.
01:07:13Niggas get real offended by the video because I got the nigga.
01:07:16I got a lookalike of the game in there.
01:07:18You know what I mean?
01:07:19With a pink bandana.
01:07:20The pink tight ass gay ass G-Unit shirt.
01:07:23Pink G-Unit tennis shoes.
01:07:25Gettin' chased through the hood, mangled, kidnapped, thrown in the trunks.
01:07:29All types of shit.
01:07:30Crack your back when I'm blastin' the gang.
01:07:32Your lungs collapse like a asthma attack.
01:07:35Nigga, I make it hard to.
01:07:36Faggot rap.
01:07:37Your backbone is D-Mack.
01:07:38And your brother, you still got clapped.
01:07:40Lay on your back and try to.
01:07:42Nigga, ain't from the hood.
01:07:43Your first album went good.
01:07:45And every week you get slapped.
01:07:46I should.
01:07:47Bitch, nigga.
01:07:47Come to the bay.
01:07:49Make them texts go straight.
01:07:50It's like you're boxing with pepper spray.
01:07:52Nigga, I make it hard to.
01:07:53And dope phones.
01:07:54You dead wrong.
01:07:55Nigga, saying yuck ain't safe.
01:07:57From E1 folder to Sean, it's the price on your face.
01:08:00Bitch, bitch.
01:08:01That's real hilarious.
01:08:02You know what I mean?
01:08:03But niggas in this hood, you know what I mean?
01:08:05Was like, yo, nigga, I'm gonna kill this nigga.
01:08:08You feel me?
01:08:08And it's like, come on, man.
01:08:09You don't want no problem, so stop running around talking that shit
01:08:13because you a fucking bitch, nigga.
01:08:14And that's straight out my mouth, nigga.
01:08:16I'm the motherfucking game, nigga.
01:08:17And you got it right.
01:08:18Nigga, I'm on Black Wall Street in Compton.
01:08:20Anytime you want to find me, nigga.
01:08:21There's real hood shit going on, nigga.
01:08:23I got a motherfucking hole in my heart, nigga.
01:08:25I ain't no motherfucking, no pussy-ass punk, nigga.
01:08:28I will break your motherfucking neck.
01:08:29What the fuck am I supposed to do?
01:08:31Just chill like, oh, man, that's the game, man.
01:08:33He a blood and he got this kid up.
01:08:35I don't give a fuck.
01:08:36I try to keep it cool.
01:08:37I try to be cool, but, nigga, it's all over, nigga.
01:08:40Young Mouth on the motherfucking internet talking some crazy shit.
01:08:44But I just seen you in a club, nigga.
01:08:45And you was all smiles and hard mark cards, nigga.
01:08:48Now you're talking greasy on the motherfucking internet, nigga.
01:08:51But when I see you, I'm gonna beat the shit out of you.
01:08:53Now, like, a lot of y'all shit, yeah what I mean?
01:08:55It'll be like little hip-hop shit, you know what I mean?
01:08:57Cool Mo D and that's hip-hop shit, yeah what I mean?
01:09:00And it don't come to no street shit.
01:09:02But we playing in each other back, y'all.
01:09:04You feel me?
01:09:04You in my sandbox.
01:09:05I'm on your swing.
01:09:07Everybody want to hate on the game, man.
01:09:09I came into this shit with love for everybody, you know what I'm saying?
01:09:13Everybody.
01:09:14From the motherfucking legends to nigga Underground, Mr. Underground.
01:09:18Nigga, I got love for everybody.
01:09:19I don't know why niggas want to hate on me.
01:09:21I ain't done nothing to none of you niggas.
01:09:23Whatever they little beefs is, man, I don't feel, man, they should be able to come to it and be
01:09:27men.
01:09:28Fuck going on wax.
01:09:29Come see me man the man.
01:09:31Come talk to me.
01:09:32Don't go spread my shit on some wax or go do a little interview and downplay a motherfucker.
01:09:38Come talk to me like a man.
01:09:39We got to end all the beef, you know what I mean?
01:09:42The whole Rapalot G unit, the whole beef.
01:09:46You feel me?
01:09:4650 going to have to holler at Jay.
01:09:48I'm going to have to holler at Game.
01:09:50You know what I mean?
01:09:50His brother going to have to holler at my people's, my mob bosses, how we rock.
01:09:55And that's how it's going to have to rock, man, on some real street shit and industry shit.
01:09:59I mean, a lot of niggas got to holler.
01:10:0250 Cent's protege, The Game, released the documentary, which became an instant platinum seller.
01:10:08However, as reckless sales were soaring, rumors circulated that these two artists, known for their beef with others, were now
01:10:15pointing their aim at each other.
01:10:2250 talking real greasy, you know?
01:10:24Somebody asked if we're a game still with G unit.
01:10:27He's head across the street around the block.
01:10:29He said, next album, he ain't doing nothing for you.
01:10:32You're going to sell like 500,000 copies.
01:10:35That's what he said?
01:10:36That's what he said.
01:10:37The first three records he put out, I'm on them.
01:10:40What's Our Story, How We Do, Hate It or Love It.
01:10:43Those are just three singles to date.
01:10:45So every record that he's selling is based on me being on his record with him.
01:10:48I'm not going to say that he didn't help with the project because he played a small part in the
01:10:54success of the documentary.
01:10:56But, you know, he did the things that he was supposed to do.
01:10:58We were all at camp.
01:10:59The things that Eminem did for him.
01:11:02You know what I'm saying?
01:11:03The things that Dre did for him.
01:11:04But you didn't hear Dre on the radio or Em on the radio talking about they helped 50 with this
01:11:09or Dre gave him in the club.
01:11:11You know what I'm saying?
01:11:12It's not about that.
01:11:13It's about us all making money and keeping it under one roof and everybody being successful.
01:11:18On the Flump Master Flex show, 50 Cent and G-Unit stated that the game was no longer part of
01:11:24G-Unit.
01:11:25That night at a concert in Long Beach, game dissed all the members of G-Unit.
01:11:35Do you think game has a problem with the relationship that you have with the rest of the team?
01:11:39I think he has a problem with my position.
01:11:43I think he'd like to be 50 Cent.
01:11:45Like, the head.
01:11:46You know how sometimes you're in a situation where anything could spark something to happen.
01:11:53And it was there.
01:11:54It been there.
01:11:55Kiss has been one of my homeboys from, you know, the early stages of my career on the underground mixtape
01:12:00level.
01:12:00In fact, Joe is a dude who I got love for in the streets.
01:12:03And I guess the spark was when game said he didn't have no problem with Nas or them other guys.
01:12:11That was that spark that I guess that 50 felt was the last draw and it was time to execute.
01:12:19I felt like what he was saying was disrespectful on the radio because everybody that I would have differences with
01:12:24at this point is cool with him.
01:12:26While game was overseas, he was hearing things that 50 was saying and then the Vibe magazine came out.
01:12:33I ain't been able to conjure up all the things that's been said and what's going on on these radio
01:12:38stations.
01:12:38But I guarantee you when I find out, man, I'm going to make my decision on, you know, what's my
01:12:43next move.
01:12:44G-Unit is here. 50's here. And game can be anywhere in between that and probably even bigger than that.
01:12:52And you can't suppress that. You can't suppress that with just G-Unit.
01:12:56I wanted to be on Dre's level, on Eminem's level. And I wanted to be respected as that.
01:13:01I don't think 50 respected me in that aspect. I think he wanted me to be a G-Unit soldier,
01:13:06which I'm not.
01:13:07He got a whole coast that he represent. So it ain't the same thing.
01:13:11These ain't no guys out of your neighborhood in Queens.
01:13:15This is a guy who has a whole coast that didn't have anything for 10 years.
01:13:19I don't even know how this whole beef came about with me and him because we're all under the same
01:13:24roof.
01:13:25But he started it and, you know, I was ready to finish it.
01:13:30Have you two tried to sit down or talk about it?
01:13:32I haven't even had a conversation with him. But there's no need for communication after he's been that disrespectful.
01:13:37So this is unsensical.
01:13:38This is it. This is it. This is it.
01:13:39Many industry figures felt the beef was nothing more than a way to promote record sales.
01:13:45However, on a cold day in March, those industry figures would be proven wrong.
01:13:50Well, a member of 50 Cent's entourage is recovering today from a gunshot wound.
01:13:55The 24-year-old Los Angeles man was reportedly shot in the leg last night while in the lobby of
01:14:01a Manhattan radio station.
01:14:02We were in New York. We didn't have cars. We just hopped out of cabs and we went up there
01:14:07trying to, you know, defuse something and talk to a guy that didn't want to talk.
01:14:11You know, he remained upstairs in the radio station and sent security down.
01:14:15Police say a group was exiting the building.
01:14:17They were leaving and they started to argue and someone pulled a gun.
01:14:2150 was not injured during the incident. Victim is in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
01:14:27When the security came down and they seen, you know, 30 Black Wall Street guys outside and they start shooting
01:14:32at the ground.
01:14:33Some shots skidded up, skidded up off the ground and hit my man in his leg a couple of times.
01:14:37Most news reports got the story wrong. When the dust had settled, it was discovered that it was actually the
01:14:44game's friend who had been shot, not one of 50's entourage.
01:14:47People say, you know, they like to say, well, 50 Cent, you know, shot one of the game's, you know,
01:14:53cohorts or whatever, but that's not what happened.
01:14:5550 Cent went out the back door of the radio station and his security, armed security, which were more than
01:15:01likely NYPD came out and were, you know, they felt they were scared.
01:15:07So they pulled out guns and dude got to shooting at the ground, skidded up, hit Kevin. He was bleeding
01:15:11in the snow and I feel embarrassed by what happened.
01:15:13And I felt like I let all my guys down and leading them in that, you know, in that situation
01:15:18where we had to retreat because we were, you know, we were out. Outgunned.
01:15:23My whole thing to game was, if we do this, if you do this, we fuck hip hop up.
01:15:31And it's hard for me to say that because I come from the streets too. And for me to look
01:15:35at game and say, dude, he shot your friend, but don't do anything.
01:15:41When we come from a culture of you shoot me, I shoot you back.
01:15:47You kill one of my friends, I kill two of your friends. You kill three of my friends.
01:15:52That's how we understand the resolution of beef.
01:15:56And that's why I have to commend game because we talked them out of going that route.
01:16:04With the situation rapidly deteriorating and another showdown bound to take place, 50 Cent reached out to the game to
01:16:11squash the beef.
01:16:12On the anniversary of Biggie Small's death, the two met up at Harlem's famed Schauburg Center for Research in Black
01:16:19Culture to donate over $250,000 to youth charities.
01:16:24I just want to apologize on behalf of myself, 50 Cent, and to the fans.
01:16:31The radio stations are labels, and I'm almost ashamed to have participated in the things that went on the last
01:16:41couple of weeks.
01:16:42In the shadow of the untimely death of Biggie, today marks the anniversary of his death.
01:16:47We're here today to show that people can rise above even the most difficult circumstances, and together we can put
01:16:54negativity behind us.
01:16:56I feel like this is an opportunity for people to see us make peace.
01:17:05For them guys to say, you know what, I got a choice.
01:17:11I can do what I've been doing when something like this happened, or I can not mess up a game
01:17:18that is getting us paid.
01:17:19And it ain't only for the money.
01:17:21We're talking about a whole generation that if a retaliation would have happened, especially if it was a casualty, that
01:17:28would have been like how Pac and Biggie was, the whole game would have been crushed.
01:17:34We're making a statement that is a lot louder than the sound of just two voices, and we're showing that
01:17:43you can control your destiny, not only your destiny, but your future.
01:17:47I feel like that I'm out of a situation where I was muffled, you know what I'm saying, like muffled
01:17:53like a killer dog, or muffled like they do, you know, horses, man.
01:17:57I feel like now that I'm out of that situation, I can breathe a little bit, and I'm able to
01:18:01do the things that I want to do as far as my company and my career is concerned, because, you
01:18:06know, being over there, I guess it just wasn't a thing for me.
01:18:09So now, do we call Game a fake gangster rapper only because he didn't retaliate when 50 or whoever did
01:18:21something to one of his friends?
01:18:23Or do we commend him for being a man to standing up and saying, you know what, this is bigger
01:18:29than me, for an understanding history of hip-hop, and saying, you know what, I'm not going to take that
01:18:37route, but I'm going to go ahead to a press conference, and I'm going to take these pictures, and I'm
01:18:44going to give a speech from my heart.
01:18:46Does that make him less of a gangster rapper?
01:18:49You know what I'm saying?
01:18:50And that's our responsibility.
01:18:53Do we encourage the bull crap and then criticize it later?
01:18:58Or do we encourage, hey, and commend and say, yo, you did the right thing by doing what you did?
01:19:04Because it was really in Game's hand.
01:19:06It could have went either way.
01:19:08Trust me, it could have went, it could have been terrible.
01:19:14Some critics question whether the truth was sincere, but as for now, only time will tell.
01:19:21You know, I got the teardrop on some, you know, on some fucked up shit in the streets.
01:19:27You know what, you know how the teardrop comes about, man.
01:19:29And I kind of felt like with me having, you know, a new company and me having my guys and
01:19:35just new life.
01:19:36My son's almost two years old.
01:19:37You know, my mom is happy.
01:19:39You know, my grandmother's looking down on me, and I'm finally doing something positive.
01:19:43I just donated, you know, a little bit under half a million dollars to the Confident Unified School District.
01:19:49So it's all about new life.
01:19:50You know what I'm saying?
01:19:51The butterfly is just a representation of new life.
01:19:53That's what it is.
01:19:54I did research on it, and, you know, I looked up something that meant or kind of defined new life,
01:20:00and it was a butterfly.
01:20:02Shit could have been a lion, but it was a fucking butterfly, man.
01:20:05So I got a butterfly tattooed on my face, but that don't mean that I won't run up and punch
01:20:10your fucking teeth out if you say something slick.
01:20:12It just means that I'm trying not to punch your teeth out, so watch your words.
01:20:16With beef on the West Coast spiraling out of control, many of the biggest names on the West Coast were
01:20:21summoned by Snoop Dogg, who put together the Protect the West Conference.
01:20:26Snoop wanted to squash beefs.
01:20:28Game got up there talking about he didn't want any beefs with anybody.
01:20:31He's out there doing his thing, and the talk was that we got to support Game because he's the one
01:20:35out there representing the West Coast.
01:20:36Tell me every time you hear me say bloods, you don't hear me say crap.
01:20:39Or you hear me say power, you don't hear me say cuss.
01:20:42Snoop know what it is.
01:20:43The other reason I'm here is because I wanted to see dads and corrupt behind each other again.
01:20:48Compton is me.
01:20:49It's the West Coast.
01:20:50It's how I live, man.
01:20:52Four fingers up, two twisted in the middle.
01:20:55The West Coast is big in this game, and it's time for this voice to be heard again.
01:21:01In a nutshell, what happened today was it was an organization of all of the West Coast rappers, you know,
01:21:08past and present, coming together, trying to get on one accord, on one page, trying to work out our differences,
01:21:13trying to squash all our beefs.
01:21:14It just, it looks successful.
01:21:16I'm proud that I was in attendance, and I'm proud to have seen all of those West Coast rappers in
01:21:22there aligned, man.
01:21:23And like I said, at this point, you know what I'm saying, in hip-hop, I feel like the West
01:21:27Coast is aligned, and we're more unified than ever.
01:21:30If I ended my beats with everybody who I had a beat with, you know what I'm saying, me having
01:21:34a problem with somebody wasn't making me no money, and them having a problem with me definitely wasn't making them
01:21:39no money.
01:21:40As West Coast artists, we never taught each other how to do business.
01:21:43We just teach each other how to bang.
01:21:44It's just like gangbanging.
01:21:46You bang the hardest.
01:21:48You know, us against them.
01:21:49Fuck y'all if y'all ain't with us.
01:21:51We gotta learn how to get out of that mentality and say we all together.
01:21:54Why can't be Doghouse, Death Row, this label, that label, we all on the same page.
01:21:58We respect each other.
01:22:00We out here doing what we do.
01:22:01Because Dre and Snoop ain't the only ones out here making dope music.
01:22:04I know it's the 100,000 rappers out here that got it.
01:22:06West Coast right now, we finna take over, so all you suckers out there that's been stealing our little moves
01:22:11and taking our little bras and shooting y'all little videos and all.
01:22:14community and borrowing our little lowriders and all that.
01:22:17I'm here to tell you, we're here to take that shit back.
01:22:19We need that back, homie.
01:22:21With entrance.
01:22:23Fuck out my face.
01:22:44Fuck out my face.
01:23:04I'm your girl.
01:23:13Fuck out your face.
