00:00 Starting August, motorcycles seeking shelter in underpasses or footbridges during heavy rain will face a fine of 500 pesos.
00:08 Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Acting Chairperson Don Artes says this may, quote, "endanger the riders who may be hit by other vehicles and also cause traffic congestion."
00:18 MMDA has also tapped the help of major gas stations in Metro Manila, where the agency will set up tents where motorcycle riders could wear raincoats.
00:26 Artes says the gas stations are open to the idea but will still have to iron out the guidelines.
00:32 MMDA also has emergency laybys along EDSA where motorcycle riders could temporarily seek shelter during heavy rain.
