00:02 - But the biggest story in Major League Baseball
00:06 is the Angels here and the tear they've been on
00:09 for about the past two weeks.
00:10 Ohtani stated, "I just wanna win here.
00:12 "That's what I really want to do."
00:14 And it turns out the Angels are winning.
00:16 Are there any foreseeable moves here, Craig,
00:18 on the horizon, meaning today,
00:20 that the Angels possibly still could be in on?
00:22 - Well, I think that every team could use a relief pitcher
00:26 and a starting pitcher as well.
00:29 And I'm not sure that like Kansas City has done trading
00:33 or Detroit has done trading or even the Mets.
00:35 And what you have with these relievers, Donnie,
00:37 is you have basically a chip that you can wait
00:40 right up until six o'clock Eastern to trade.
00:43 I mean, there's really no rush on those kind of players
00:45 'cause a lot of them are under control for years to come.
00:48 So they understand the value of a reliever right now
00:51 is probably more, a losing team,
00:52 is probably more to a winning team.
00:54 So they wait until 5.55 Eastern.
00:56 They call all the other teams and say,
00:57 give me your best and final offer.
00:59 They take a look at it and say,
01:01 is this good enough to trade the player?
01:03 Yes, okay, go, no, all right, fine.
01:05 We'll bring you back again next year.
01:06 I think that is what you're gonna see very late,
01:09 some relief pitching gone.
01:10 The hard part about this trade deadline,
01:13 at least for me, from my perspective,
01:14 because again, I'm covering it
01:15 from a lot of different angles
01:16 and also looking at it from Miami's as well,
01:18 is we just don't see the offensive firepower out there.
01:23 Now, it doesn't mean you can't create a trade.
01:25 Look, Juan Soto, we didn't think he'd get traded last year.
01:27 He got dealt.
01:28 So something like that could be out there
01:30 and you could have a Verlander as an example,
01:33 but I personally, as of now,
01:35 don't see that mega offensive trade out there
01:38 that's going to, let's say, bat in the middle of the order
01:42 for a winning team right now.
01:44 Some losing team trades into a winning team.
01:46 So either some teams are gonna have to get creative
01:48 and figure out a way to get that done,
01:50 or there is a chance.
01:51 Candelario was the best bat traded at the deadline.
01:54 I know it sounds crazy to say,
01:56 but as of right now, it appears to be that way.
