00:00 Around two o'clock yesterday afternoon,
00:02 we had a pretty rare failure
00:04 on one of the pieces of equipment in the substation
00:07 that feeds the Wavefield and Churchill roads,
00:09 and which pretty much reduced a spike in voltage
00:15 for around 400 homes.
00:17 We managed to restore about 130 of those yesterday,
00:21 and that leaves us with just under 300 right now
00:25 that we're busy working with.
00:27 With a fault on the network such as this,
00:30 it's called a neutral fault.
00:31 With a neutral fault, it causes these high voltage sparks,
00:34 which sometimes can cause damage to equipment
00:37 in people's homes like TVs and boilers,
00:40 and on a rare occasion can actually cause a damage
00:42 on the customer's home supply,
00:45 so the wires in the customer's house.
00:46 And that's why these faults are a bit more complex
00:49 than most to be able to get the power restored.
00:53 These incidents, as I said, are very challenging
00:56 because it's not just about fixing our network.
00:58 It's actually going into all those 300 homes,
01:01 and having access to those homes is an absolute paramount.
01:04 So if you are without power out there
01:06 and you haven't had a contact,
01:08 please do call 105 and let us know.
01:11 We need to get access to make sure your home is safe
01:14 before we can energize the network.
