00:00 After being named as the head coach of the GILAS Pilipinas,
00:05 who will replace him for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games?
00:09 That's what Rafael Bandayrel is talking about.
00:12 The PBA and the Philippine Basketball Association announced
00:19 that Tim Cohn of Barangay Hinebra, San Miguel will serve as the new head coach of the GILAS Pilipinas
00:24 for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.
00:27 This is what SBP President Al Panlilio announced
00:31 in a press conference with PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial,
00:35 PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas,
00:37 Barangay Hinebra Governor Al Francis Chua,
00:39 and of course, the center of attention, Coach Cohn.
00:43 Officials of the Sumahang Basketball of the Philippines and the Philippine Basketball Association met last Monday.
00:49 The Diamond Makati Residences to discuss GILAS Pilipinas' participation in the quadrennial league.
00:57 Mindful that time is of the essence for competitive teams to be assembled,
01:02 no minute was wasted to persuade the PBA's winningest coach,
01:08 with the intervention of San Miguel Corporation President CEO Ramon S. Ang,
01:12 to reconsider his early position and handle the national team.
01:17 It is worth noting that Cohn first refused this position after Reyes retired from his position.
01:22 So the question is, how did Cohn convince himself to back down from his first decision?
01:27 I was the one I was most embarrassed for because I didn't want to follow Chud.
01:31 But he gave me his blessing. He told me that he felt I was the best guy for the job.
01:37 So that's given me confidence to step up and do it.
01:40 These guys have been behind me all the way.
01:43 Of course, Boss RSA and MVP, they have also said really nice things.
01:50 So I just really feel everybody has my back on this.
01:55 Cohn is really the number one choice of SBP in place of Reyes.
02:00 Those two, when they arrived, they haven't sat down yet.
02:06 Sorry, but I have to...
02:08 They're walking too.
02:10 They haven't sat down yet.
02:12 They're still sitting.
02:13 Team Cohn, Team Cohn, Team Cohn.
02:15 We want Team Cohn.
02:16 Meanwhile, Richard Del Rosario, Jongwe Chico, Josh Reyes, and LA Tenorio
02:23 are Cohn's coaching staff.
02:25 Because of the tight schedule, Cohn is hoping to start his component's practice on Monday.
02:32 the Lunes. Rafael Bandayrel PTV Sports.
