00:00 Accuweather's Bill Waddell is live in
00:02 central Pennsylvania this morning and
00:03 build drivers in that region need to
00:05 be ready for some huge changes.
00:07 Lots of snow on the ground,
00:09 but just imagine within.
00:12 48 hours it will all be gone.
00:15 Yeah, we're in for quite another
00:18 bumpy ride here, at least in
00:20 central Pennsylvania all across
00:22 the Northeast guys here in Belfont,
00:24 PA. When you check the Accuweather app,
00:26 we're expecting another one to three
00:28 inches of fresh snow to fall on
00:30 this snow pack tomorrow morning.
00:32 Then the potential for a wintry mix,
00:34 followed up by very heavy rain,
00:36 and that's our big concern is that
00:38 all of this snow could melt rapidly
00:40 and send a lot of water rushing into
00:43 our rivers, creeks and streams.
00:45 Now over the weekend in the Northeast,
00:47 it was a tough go for drivers.
00:49 Dozens of crashes and spinouts
00:51 were reported all over the place.
00:53 This one was caught on camera by
00:55 Brandon Clement in Boston.
00:57 Drivers losing control in
00:58 the slush and the snow.
01:00 It was a tough go for some
01:02 truck drivers as well.
01:03 This truck jackknifed in Boston yesterday.
01:06 Some places actually ban empty
01:08 tractor trailers from driving down
01:09 highways through winter storms
01:11 because those empty tractors they
01:13 can slide and lose control easier
01:15 with less weight and traction in the back.
01:18 Now in Northeast Pennsylvania we
01:20 saw some wrecks as well,
01:22 including this one near Wilkes
01:24 Berry that packs snow and slush
01:26 on the highways.
01:27 You can lose control on that,
01:29 and that's not this SUV into the
01:31 barrier and bouncing right off.
01:33 Now is an important reminder.
01:35 No matter what time of year you
01:37 really want to avoid flooded roads.
01:39 Guys, the big concern we've seen in
01:41 recent months a lot of swift water rescues.
01:44 Those emergency crews having to go
01:46 in the water to get people out of
01:48 their cars that were swept away.
01:50 Just think about it with all of
01:52 this snow that's going to be melting.
01:54 Those waters are going to be ice cold,
01:56 and if we don't have swift rescues this week,
01:59 it could be an incredibly dangerous situation,
02:01 something we hope we do not see.
