Temperatures will tumble to the lowest level so far this season across part of the West as a blast of bitterly cold air pours southward from Canada.

00:00 And here we are continuing that wet and stormy pattern into the Pacific Northwest.
00:06 And on the infrared satellite you can see not just the storm that's moving into the
00:10 Northwest right now, but there's more waiting in the wings.
00:13 But let's dig into the here and now.
00:15 Satellite and radar showing you the soaking rain moving across I-5 and into the Cascade
00:19 Mountains of not just Washington but Oregon as well.
00:21 And even as you're getting into the Siskiyou's, we are seeing some snowflakes coming down.
00:26 And this, my friends, is just the beginning.
00:28 We do have a lot of winter weather watches, warnings, advisories out.
00:31 You can see blizzard warnings through the Cascade Mountains into the Blue Mountains
00:35 of Washington and Oregon.
00:36 And even as you're getting into parts of southern Idaho as well, please make sure you're staying
00:41 off the roads in those areas as visibility will drop very quickly and being on the roads
00:45 will be just downright dangerous.
00:47 Also looking at a lot of winter weather watches, warnings, advisories back towards cities like
00:51 Spokane out toward Boise into Salt Lake City into the Wasatch as well as this storm comes
00:56 ashore.
00:57 Not only is it more powerful than the last one we saw, but it's also colder and it's
01:01 going to open the door for some Arctic air.
01:03 More on that in a second.
01:04 But let's talk about today.
01:06 Seattle and Eugene all the way down to Portland, you're going to get soaked.
01:09 Looking at Boise, it's more in the way of clouds for now, but there's more winter weather
01:12 on the way.
01:13 Temperatures in the mid-30s today.
01:15 And Spokane, I left you for last because you're going to get some flakes by the time today
01:18 is done.
01:19 Let's take a look at your AccuWeather exclusive winter cast here.
01:21 Great tool of the AccuWeather app and AccuWeather.com and even here on the AccuWeather network.
01:26 We'll show this to you as well.
01:27 One to three inches in Spokane, Washington between 3 p.m. on Monday today and 5 a.m.
01:32 tomorrow morning.
01:33 This is something we're going to be watching closely, of course, not just for Spokane,
01:37 but even as we look through other lowland areas of the Northwest.
01:41 Not just the mountain ranges that are going to see those pretty decent accumulations here,
01:45 but even as you're getting back toward areas of the Umatilla Valley, even as you're getting
01:48 back into parts of southeastern Oregon, back toward LaGrange, for example, we are looking
01:52 at more in the way of accumulating snow.
01:54 Now the highest accumulations are back into the Bitterroot Range, into the Lewis Range,
01:59 and as you're getting into the Cascade Mountains as well.
02:01 That's where we could see in a more widespread area at least a foot to a foot and a half
02:05 of snow, but I want to point something out.
02:07 Your AccuWeather local storm max is six feet of snow.
02:11 That's pretty impressive and it just represents those areas where we could see localized reports,
02:16 especially in the highest elevations of the mountains where the snow will really accumulate.
02:21 But here comes the cold there afterwards.
02:23 See all this magenta and purple coming in from our friends in the Great White North?
02:27 Well that is a delivery system of some Arctic air that's going to drop temperatures like
02:32 a rock as we get later into the week.
02:34 The storm leaves, we see a few wet days in Seattle and we go from wet to frigid.
02:39 Friday back to 28 degrees, Saturday more of the same, and Sunday, yeah, sunnier and technically
02:44 warmer, but we're just getting back to freezing.
