PKR's efficacy and success depends on what it delivers to the people as opposed to the number of Cabinet positions held by its members, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Speaking at the PKR 25th convention on Sunday (April 21), the party secretary-general said that it would be deemed successful in implementing its reform agenda by way of government policies introduced to benefit the people.

Saifuddin, who is also Home Minister, said it was also of utmost importance to take good care of the nation's coffers even if some unpopular short-term decisions were needed, and reminded all PKR members to always remember the challenges the party faced in the past.

00:00 Symbolic, perfecting the launch of the Fellow to Justice program
00:03 In the count of three, two, one
00:07 [Music]
00:15 Recently, the Prime Minister always reminds us
00:20 To learn from history, not a little
00:25 The struggle for reformation that is driven by many countries
00:31 All over the world
00:33 Whether in Africa or in Europe
00:37 Which before taking a step, get leadership trust
00:43 The promise is reformation and change
00:46 But when it has held that mandate
00:51 In the midst of such high expectations or expectations of the people
00:55 Not a little struggle that raises the theme of this reformation
00:59 Failed
01:02 One, meeting high expectations of the people
01:06 Can't be fulfilled, then fell
01:11 The second is because of the level of competency
01:17 The level of effort to fill the meaning of the struggle
01:22 Not reached
01:24 Because what we talk about is ideal, idealism
01:27 Ideal that is derived from an idealism
01:30 But when we get the mandate of that struggle
01:33 It turns out that our capacity, which is called competency
01:37 In the matter of administration, in the matter of governance
01:40 In the matter of political will to correct the deviation
01:44 Not reached
01:46 Not reached that level
01:48 Then the third factor, failure is
01:54 Failed
01:56 Then forgot
01:58 Before that, be a defender of life full of suffering
02:01 Then tested with the blessing of the government and leadership
02:05 At that time, all the foundations of struggle were forgotten
02:11 What wants to be done is to build
02:15 Gather and accumulate wealth
02:19 That is among the characteristics that do not lead to the victory of a struggle
02:25 Reformation
02:27 Taking an example from the struggle of Lampau
02:30 I believe this is a very relevant advice to us today
02:38 The third
02:41 What I want to say is
02:43 Success in reform
02:45 Either in our eyes or in the eyes of the people
02:48 Will be measured as long as we succeed in translating it
02:55 To the foundation and program so that the people can enjoy
03:00 That is the size
03:02 The size is not how many ministers from the block of justice
03:06 How many countries are the biggest ministers of justice?
03:09 How many ex-court representatives are represented by justice?
03:12 How many parliamentarians?
03:14 How many members of the House of Representatives?
03:17 That is not the size
03:19 The real size is when we hold the power
03:23 We managed to translate
03:26 Understand the reform in the form of the foundation of the government
03:30 Which then we implement the people to benefit
03:34 From the economic point of view, more
03:36 The responsibility is heavy, my friend, my brother, Fizi
03:40 The country's revenue is very limited
03:42 The country's commitment continues to increase
03:45 The management of the country's finances in a macro way
03:48 Must be managed with full wisdom
03:51 We may have to do something bitter
03:56 In the short term
03:58 But we know that is the right action
04:01 That is the right step
04:05 That's why we start talking about targeted subsidies
04:11 And we want to do things properly
04:14 That's why we collect credible data
04:16 Then a unified birth
04:18 This is an example of how we want to do the right thing
04:22 And it must start with a clean and systematic work basis
04:26 That's why we talk about this matter
04:29 That's an example of a reform idea
04:32 Do the right thing for the benefit of the people in the long term
04:35 As an example
04:37 I am also in the domestic government, for example
04:41 Reform does not necessarily talk about institutional changes
04:45 We should look at it straight
04:47 Don't let it aside
04:49 But I am very impressed with small things
04:53 Even just now, I was sitting there
04:55 How many things have reached me
04:58 Already in the bag
05:01 Dato'
05:03 The request of the adopted child
05:06 I have been taking care of it for three years
05:08 Please reject
05:11 I told him where to take it
05:12 Someone put it in front of my house door, Dato'
05:16 How about the future of this child?
05:19 This is a civil government
05:21 A government that must show sincerity
05:24 Because that's what we really want
05:27 To correct this situation
05:29 So that those who need it are worthy of their place
05:33 And this is a country for everyone
05:37 You have a place in this country as long as the civil government
05:41 Fulfills its responsibilities
05:44 I believe
05:45 Brother Nick, brother Likang, brother Fadina, more
05:48 Education, Adam too
05:51 There must be confidence and awareness
05:54 This is actually the task that the people are waiting for us
05:58 That's all we can do as long as
06:01 This party as a safe vehicle
06:07 We must continue to strengthen this party
