00:00We were very privileged to get this number firstly, it just happens by luck.
00:28Every upcoming course has a number added to it, so when we joined IIMA, we got 101 numbers.
00:58Kargil operations, the war with Pakistan in 1999, and to have close to 28 Sena medals,
01:05a Kirti Chakra and three Shoret Chakras, I mean speaks for itself.
01:11We were all on leave when we got recalled.
01:14We learnt about the war-like situation developing in the Kargil sector.
01:28The next morning I was in my op area and I was given a very important task of
01:33defending a very important road coming in from Pakistan into India.
01:42Vikram Batra was a very good friend. In the academy we were in the same company
01:47and most of the second term we were neighbours, we used to live in cabins next to each other.
01:51We had developed a special bond between us for the one year that we spent together at IIMA.
01:59So to learn about him having passed away, of course, was a jolt.
02:03I mean, not a day goes without thinking about it these days.
02:24Many lives were lost.
02:26We will forever remember the sacrifices of these great men who have sacrificed their lives for our nation.
