00:01Back in Cleveland, Ohio for the third and final preseason game.
00:05Before we get to the action, let's send it down to the third member of our team, Aditi Kinkabwala, standing by with head coach Kevin Stefanski.
00:12You obviously can't unleash everything today, but you do finally have a starting quarterback in Joe Flacco.
00:18What should Browns fans be most excited about with him?
00:21You know, Joe has been through so much as a player, been in the starter, been the backup, been the Super Bowl MVP.
00:27We lean on that experience.
00:28I know his teammates do, so what he brings to our offense, what he brings to our team is a wealth of experience, and he earned that job.
00:35He's played really well, so I'm excited for Joe.
00:37And at this point, you definitely have a good sense of your entire team.
00:41What is the personality of this team?
00:43What do you know about this team right now?
00:45They work.
00:46They really work, and they play hard.
00:48You know, the results are the results in the preseason.
00:50Listen, if they're keeping score, we want to win, but I look at how we play.
00:53I look at how high the effort is on offense, defense, and special teams.
00:57That's what matters to me and our football team going into this game as well.
01:01As always, we've appreciated the time this preseason.
01:03Have fun.
01:04Thanks, Aditi.
01:04See you guys.
01:06Thank you, Coach.
01:07Thank you, Aditi.
01:07And there is Joe Flacco.
01:09What does he want to get out of this?
01:10I mean, he has seen it all, as Kevin just mentioned, at age 40.
01:13As strange as it seems, but he's going to want to be able to just go through the regular process of getting ready for a game.
01:20And you've got to get your mind ready so that when this comes in two weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals are in town, you're walking into this stadium with confidence.
01:28Nothing is throwing you off your game.
01:29Like, oh, I thought I was supposed to park over here.
01:31I don't know how to get there.
01:32And then I'm stressed.
01:33And then it just throws that whole routine off.
01:35So for him, he just wants that routine and that process of going through the motions and playing a home game and throwing to his guys.
01:41And hopefully against mostly backups here for the L.A. Rams, he's going to have an opportunity to go right down the field a couple times and score in a very clean operation on offense.
01:54Well, he'll have to wait.
01:55So, Joe, just keep that seat right there.
01:57L.A. has won the coin toss, and they have elected to receive.
02:01If you're a Browns fan and you know all about the Rams who've made the playoffs the last couple years, in fact, six times in Sean McVay's eight seasons,
02:10you will not be seeing Matthew Stafford and many of the starters that will open up their regular season against the Houston Texans.
02:16It's a lot of backups.
02:17It's a lot of guys vying for maybe the final six to eight spots on the team.
02:22But that doesn't matter because the Cleveland Browns are playing a lot of their starters today.
02:26A lot of the guys you're going to see two weeks from tomorrow against the Cincinnati Bengals right here at home.
02:32There's a good look at Sean McVay, who a couple years ago became the youngest head coach to ever win the Super Bowl when he led them to a Super Bowl 56 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
02:41Hard to believe he's already in his ninth season coaching, huh?
02:44He doesn't look any different than he did when he broke into the league at what felt like 23 years old,
02:49and he's still got that trademark energy, one of the great young minds in our game still, even after nine seasons.
02:56Dustin Hopkins getting all set to boot it away.
02:59Brennan Presley, number 81 for the Rams.
03:01Cody Schrader back there, number 32 as well.
03:08One last chance for the Browns to have a dress rehearsal before the curtain comes up.
03:13Two weeks from tomorrow, we are underway in Cleveland.
03:16Rams will take a knee and start out at the 35-yard line, and they are under the leadership this afternoon of their fourth-string quarterback,
03:27Dresser Wynn, first-year man out of Tennessee, Martin, who made 32 collegiate starts.
03:32The Browns, you're going to see a lot of starters out there, including the number five overall pick, Mason Graham.
03:38And he's played great thus far in preseason.
03:42Browns have been very happy with his progress, and sticking him next to Miles Garrett.
03:46He's got an opportunity to be extremely disruptive for this Browns very, very talented defensive line.
03:52Not going to see Miles Garrett or the two starting corners, Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, both those guys nursing shoulder injuries.
03:58They should be good to go, though, in week one.
04:01Rams are going to keep it on the ground.
04:05Jarquez Hunter, their fourth-round pick out of Auburn.
04:10Today's defensive position battle brought to you by Big Fig, the mattress made for more crafted in Cleveland, just like our Browns.
04:16Linebacker situation got a little tough this past week.
04:21Nathaniel Watson had a great preseason loss for the year with a biceps injury.
04:25Winston Reed dinged up as well, so this depth will be tested, but you see Carson Swezinger, first pick of the second round.
04:31He's going to be right in the middle of that Browns defense.
04:36It's Hunter again up the gut, and about a yard shy of the first down.
04:44First two plays there for the Rams are running what we call duo, which is basically power blocking without pulling anybody.
04:51Just getting double teams at the point of attack, letting the running back find a little bit of a hole and push the Browns defensive line a little bit,
04:59but an opportunity here at third down to step up and get off the field.
05:03Getting a good look at Malik Collins, one of the free agent signings, a 10-year vet on that defensive line.
05:09Third and one.
05:11Whistles and a flag.
05:14First one of the afternoon, and here's our referee, Brad Allen.
05:16False start.
05:19Offense.
05:20Everyone but the snapper.
05:22Five-yard penalty.
05:22One of my favorites.
05:24Do you guys all look at each other when that happens?
05:27Well, I'm glad you look at the center, and you go, well, I'm glad they didn't call my number.
05:31Because I've had a few times when Alex Mack didn't snap it when he was supposed to,
05:35and so I move, and then they give me the penalty, and then now I'm answering the questions in the media after.
05:40Why'd you have two penalties in the game?
05:42And then you're left with this conundrum.
05:43Do I throw Alex Mack under the bus, or do I just take it?
05:47Calling him out.
05:48Wasn't he like a seven-time pro bowler?
05:49He was all right.
05:52Third and six.
05:53Oh.
05:54Blitz by the Browns, and wind gets destroyed.
05:58It was Carson Sweessinger getting right in there on the linebacker blitz.
06:02You see what sort of quickness he brings.
06:05Yeah, that was really good by the Browns, but this is what sometimes is going to happen
06:08when you've got Jim Schwartz, who's not afraid to go into his bag of tricks,
06:11even though it's some of the backups here for the Rams.
06:14He's going to blitz.
06:15It's third down.
06:15He's going to call his call, and nobody there.
06:18And Carson Sweessinger, who just runs right through the A-gap and smokes the Rams quarterback.
06:22Ethan Evans on to boot it away for the Rams.
06:26DeAndre Carter.
06:26First time we get a look at him in the preseason.
06:31The veteran return man takes it at the 13.
06:34Up close to the 25, and now we will get a chance to see the Browns' number one offense,
06:40led by 40-year-old Joe Flacco now in his 18th season.
06:44Your Huntington Bank quarterback profile is proud to be the official bank of the Cleveland Browns.
06:50Flacco wowed this organization by going 4-1 down the stretch, coming off the couch to start and lead this team to the playoffs two years ago.
07:00The man can still spin it.
07:0440 years old.
07:05I'm happy when I can get out of my chair every morning, and Flacco's out there still spinning and running around like he's almost 30.
07:12Aiden Huntington, one of the defensive linemen, the fullback in motion, paving the way for the rookie, Dylan Sampson.
07:19Yeah, we just saw number 66 line up as an extra tight end and bring it.
07:23I love that play.
07:25They're running like a wham play.
07:26So Aiden Huntington, he lines up in the fullback position, goes in short motion, and comes down and whams the defensive tackle.
07:32They run a zone-blocking concept up front, just kind of a physical in-your-face.
07:37Let them know what the day is going to be all about for the Browns' O-line.
07:40Flacco in shotgun with the fourth-round pick, Sampson, in the backfield.
07:45First throw of the day.
07:46Looks left, throws, connects.
07:49Incomplete, a little too low, actually, for the pro bowler, Jerry Judy,
07:52who had an outstanding first season with the Browns a year ago.
07:55Yeah, the Browns picked up Jerry Judy last year.
07:57I think there was some wonderment about what you were going to get out of the guy,
08:01but he's been incredible.
08:02He's been a pro bowler, having his best season as an NFL player,
08:06and him and Joe Flacco have had a special connection thus far in training camp.
08:10And 90 catches a year ago, that's the most of any Browns player in team history.
08:16Third and six.
08:17Flacco to throw again.
08:23Looks, reads, connects with David Njoku.
08:26He's going to be tackled shy of the first down.
08:29That's our old buddy Tony Fields wrapping him up on his return to Cleveland.
08:33Of course, spent the first four years of his career, and he's fired up.
08:37Browns go three and out.
08:38Not as excited.
08:39Yeah, not as excited for the Browns, but if you're a former Brown and you're out there,
08:44you're going to be excited about making a play against your former team, even in the preseason,
08:48and he let them know about it a little bit there.
08:50Remember me?
08:51Corey Bohorquez, who's had an outstanding preseason, on to kick it away to Drake Stoops.
08:57Yeah, that's the son of former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.
09:00This one boomed inside the ten.
09:03Stoops is going to let it hop.
09:04Takes a friendly Cleveland roll and gets down inside the five.
09:09So, Corey Bohorquez, yeah, package him up.
09:12He is ready for opening Sunday after another boot of 52 yards.
09:18Rams go three and out.
09:20Browns return the favor.
09:21We're scoreless in Cleveland.

09:34Both teams three and out in the early going,
09:36All right, dude, I see ya.
09:38He's ready.
09:39He's ready for the regular season.
09:44Rams under the leadership of Dresser Wynn.
09:48Jarquez Hunter remains in the backfield.
09:53Rams will keep it on the ground for not much,
09:56right in the middle of that Browns defense.
09:58And one thing we're keeping our eye on, Joe,
10:01the back seven, particularly the cornerbacks,
10:03because after Ward and Newsome,
10:05I think there's a lot of question marks right now.
10:08We have Ward banged up his shoulder,
10:09so he's not out there today.
10:12Those guys are pro bowlers.
10:13We know what we got there,
10:14but with the loss of MJ Emerson,
10:16they've been looking for that nickel slot corner
10:19to be able to step up,
10:20and they think maybe Nick Needham
10:21has moved into that role from safety
10:24and could possibly be that answer this year,
10:26so we'll be watching him today.
10:30Second and eight for the Rams.
10:32Play fake.
10:33Wynn being chased.
10:34Throws.
10:35Ball's going to be out.
10:38It was Miles Harden that would have had
10:40an easy pick six if he could have stayed in bounds,
10:43and Harden is one of those guys
10:45that's vying for that slot corner.
10:48A missed opportunity for him in this Cleveland defense.
10:51Great job here with some pressure right in the face
10:53as the Rams quarterback's trying to boot to his left,
10:56which is challenging because you've got to flip your hips
10:57to be able to get the ball out there,
10:59and you've got to make that catch, though, there by Harden.
11:02He's one of the guys, like Chris mentioned,
11:04that's vying for that nickel slot position,
11:07and you've got to make that,
11:08take that into the zone, baby.
11:10Miles Harden, a seventh-round pick a year ago.
11:15Rams on third down.
11:16Browns blitz in.
11:17They're coming, and their second win
11:19just outside of the end zone, it looks like.
11:23As he's maybe about three inches clear of the goal line,
11:28it was Alex Wright continuing his outstanding camp
11:32at his defensive line.
11:33Coach Jacques Cazaire loves it.
11:35I love it.
11:36They're actually replacing a defensive tackle
11:38who's dropping into coverage,
11:39so it's a sole blitz.
11:41They're bringing their linebacker from the second level.
11:44That's Grant Delpit, actually, from the safety spot there,
11:47and the Rams just have no answer.
11:49It's interesting because the Rams didn't really treat this
11:51too seriously, but I think Jim Schwartz is saying,
11:52I don't care.
11:53We're going to make them pay anyway.
11:57Ethan Evans right up against the end line,
11:59kicks it away.
12:00Carter, and it's a good boot,
12:03takes it at his 46, into Rams territory,
12:07keeps his footing, and gets it inside the 45
12:10before he is leveled.
12:11And the Browns will start their second drive in Rams territory.
12:16Joe Flacco, three and out the first time.
12:19We'll get another crack at it in a scoreless game.
12:24Feeson just around the corner.

12:34Browns with their second possession after a punt return
12:37by DeAndre Carter,
12:38and you're looking at one of the newest Cleveland Browns,
12:40Isaiah Bond,
12:41who signed this week after a Texas grand jury
12:44no-billed a sexual assault charge
12:46stemming from an April arrest.
12:48Andrew Berry, who will join us a little bit later,
12:50said they spent much of the last calendar year
12:52getting to know him.
12:53They are comfortable with him,
12:55and he is now officially a part of the team
12:57after signing a three-year deal.
12:59Joe Flacco swings it out to Ford.
13:02Gets about three, down close to the 40.
13:05Aditi Kikawala joining us this afternoon from the sidelines.
13:09Hi, Aditi.
13:09Hi, Chris.
13:10Joe Flacco is the father of four boys
13:13and a brilliant little girl,
13:15and his two older sons have very famously
13:17been on the record saying they're not impressed with their dad.
13:20In fact, one of them went to a game
13:22that their dad was starting in Miami
13:24wearing a Tyree Kill jersey.
13:25So this week, Flacco tells us
13:27that he called his oldest son, Steven.
13:29He said that I won the starting job.
13:32Steven told his second brother, Daniel,
13:33and Daniel said,
13:34Nuh-uh.
13:35Flacco told us he didn't even believe it
13:37until he actually saw the news headline.
13:40Tough audience.
13:41It is a tough audience.
13:42There's a run by Ford who bounces outside,
13:45gets the Browns' initial first down,
13:47delivers some punishment,
13:49and gets it down close to the 30.
13:51By the way, that sideline report from Aditi
13:53was presented by Sugardale,
13:54the official bacon of the Cleveland Browns.
13:57So this is a duo, just like we were talking,
13:59but Joe Ford does a great job,
14:01initially running right at the line of scrimmage
14:03and draws the linebackers down
14:04to that line of scrimmage,
14:06and then he bounces to the outside to his left
14:08using his speed to run around the defense
14:09and make a nice run with a great finish there,
14:12lowering his shoulder,
14:13and the boom on the sideline.
14:14Browns with four of their five
14:16starting offensive linemen in the game.
14:18The Pro Bowler, Joel Batonio,
14:20getting the veteran's day off.
14:23First and ten, it's Ford.
14:26Gets wrapped up after a game of maybe one.
14:31All right, time right now for the offensive line.
14:36The position group to watch
14:37presented to you by Big Fig.
14:39And yeah, we're watching all these dudes right here.
14:43The interesting thing about it
14:44is that four of the five guys,
14:46when you're talking about Batonio,
14:47Posick, Teller, and Conklin,
14:49they're all in their 30s,
14:50they're all in the last years of their deal.
14:53You know, I don't usually like to talk offensive line,
14:55but we got four really veteran,
14:57excellent players here,
14:58and that's why the Browns want to lean
14:59on their run game this season.
15:02That's Gage Larvidan on the quick hitter.
15:05No game, maybe even a loss of one.
15:07Not sure exactly what was supposed to happen there.
15:12Kate Davis was blocking for that ball to go outside,
15:16and Larvidan actually tried to cut it up inside
15:19and ended up cutting up right into the Rams' defender,
15:21and that's why the play didn't work.
15:22So those two guys, not on the same page.
15:25The operation is really what we're looking for here,
15:27making sure everybody's clean with their technique
15:29because he's not clean on that one.
15:31Third and nine for the Browns,
15:33midway through this opening quarter.
15:36Flacco, time, swings it,
15:39Sampson, Spindler,
15:40face down inside the 20.
15:43Nice job by the rookie out of Tennessee.
15:48And there's bad news.
15:49The Browns' starting center,
15:51Ethan Posick, is down in the backfield.
15:54Well, this is something we've seen too much of
16:05in recent years.
16:08As they look at his lower leg,
16:10we will take a break and get an update
16:12with the Browns moving.
16:14Due by Toyota.
16:21For all Toyota offers,
16:22go to toyota.com.
16:23Toyota, let's go places.
16:25And unfortunately,
16:26the place where Ethan Posick went
16:28was the blue tent.
16:29He did walk off under his own power.
16:32And we will get you an update momentarily.
16:34In the meantime, Luke Whipler,
16:36the third-year center out of Ohio State,
16:38has taken his place.
16:39Browns are in the red zone.
16:41It's presented by Milkbone.
16:42Milkbone bringing Wardog to the dog pound.
16:46Rams bringing a blitz on that,
16:48stopping Sampson.
16:50Didn't even get back to the line of scrimmage.
16:52So it'll be second and long.
16:55Harold Fennett Jr.,
16:57the Browns' impressive tight end,
16:59I believe is in there,
17:01walking back,
17:02and it looked like he was a little bit confused
17:04about who he was supposed to get there
17:05when the Rams blitzed off their left edge
17:09and just left the guy unblocked
17:11and was able to get in there
17:11into running back and take him to the ground.
17:14Jerome Ford is checked back into the game.
17:17Once again,
17:17the starters expected to play
17:18between 20 and 25 snaps.
17:21Flacco,
17:21another throw,
17:22looks,
17:23it's a fanning,
17:24touchdown!
17:27Maybe he didn't know
17:28who to block on the previous play,
17:30but he knows where to go
17:31to catch the passes.
17:32Some guys,
17:33you don't waste time teaching them out of block
17:35where they can catch like that
17:37and get themselves open,
17:38making themselves available.
17:40Great job on the skinny poster.
17:42Flacco looks off the safety
17:44and then comes right back to Harold Fennett Jr.,
17:46who catches the football
17:47and then takes the hit
17:49all the way into the end zone.
17:51Great job by the young player
17:52hanging on to it.
17:53When you get those quick posts
17:55in the red zone,
17:56you've got to be ready
17:57to secure the football quickly
17:58and take that hit
17:59and go all the way to the ground
18:01with the ball.
18:01Excellent job by the young tight end.
18:03Dustin Hopkins on for the PAT.
18:06He nails it.
18:09Browns take over
18:10in Rams territory.
18:12March 43 yards.
18:15The pride of Canton McKinley
18:16and Bowling Green,
18:18his first NFL touchdown
18:19as Fannin gives the Browns
18:21a 7-0 lead.
18:26Back in Cleveland,
18:27Browns scoring drive
18:28presented by Howard Hanna.
18:29Win big with Howard Hanna,
18:31the official real estate provider
18:32of the Cleveland Browns.
18:33Joe Flacco,
18:34four for four on that drive,
18:36including a 15-yard TD toss
18:38to the rookie,
18:39Harold Fannin.
18:41Aditi?
18:43Chris,
18:44Ethan Posick walked
18:45into the locker room
18:46of his own accord.
18:47I'm watching Dylan Gabriel
18:48warm up right now.
18:50It looks like Joe Flacco's
18:51day may be done.
18:52All right.
18:53So Kevin Stefanski
18:54told us 20-25 plays.
18:56Looks like it's going to be
18:57a little less than that.
18:58The third rounder
18:59out of Oregon
19:00will be up next.
19:02Hopkins' kit
19:03taken by Presley.
19:04trying to get across field.
19:07He's got nowhere to go
19:08as he gets swallowed up
19:09by Christopher Edmonds
19:10at the 16-yard line.
19:12Today's Browns trivia
19:13is brought to you
19:14by Franklin University.
19:15Franklin makes it possible
19:16for you to earn
19:17an affordable degree
19:18that fits your life.
19:20Hey,
19:20who was the youngest
19:21Browns player
19:21to make a Pro Bowl appearance?
19:23Miles Garrett,
19:24David Njoku,
19:25Joel Batonio,
19:27Denzel Ward.
19:28We'll have the answer
19:29coming up in a bit.
19:30You feel pretty confident
19:32about that one?
19:33You didn't look it up, right?
19:34I did not look it up.
19:36How old were you
19:37when you first made
19:38the Pro Bowl, Rudd?
19:38I think it would have been
19:3923?
19:4122, sounds about right.
19:42Okay.
19:43But I think those guys
19:44were significantly younger.
19:45Miles, I think it was 20.
19:47Well, don't let's not give it away.
19:49No, no, when they came
19:49in the NFL.
19:50I got it.
19:51Just give it some, you know, tips.
19:53Whistle and a flag.
19:55And it looks like delay a game.
19:58Prior to the expiration
20:00of the play clock
20:00is a charged timeout.
20:02Oh.
20:03Los Angeles,
20:04their first.
20:05It will be 30 seconds.
20:07We talked about operation, right?
20:09Which is always the boring thing
20:10to talk about in preseason,
20:12but it's really what the coaches
20:12want to get out of this game.
20:14If you're looking at
20:14the Browns starters,
20:15and what you just saw there
20:17is what Kevin Stavancey
20:19does not want to see
20:20from his starters
20:21and from any of his guys
20:22because you're coming out
20:23of a timeout
20:24and you almost go through
20:25the whole play clock
20:26and have to waste a timeout.
20:28That is a bad ball.
20:30I'm guessing Sean McVay
20:30didn't love it either.
20:31Sean McVay is going,
20:33come on, guys.
20:34I know that I didn't bring
20:35all my dudes,
20:35but let's get the play in.
20:37You guys have had it
20:37for 40 seconds.
20:38The pride of Miami University,
20:40by the way.
20:41Born in Dayton, Ohio.
20:43His formative years
20:44down in Georgia
20:45where he actually won
20:45Football Player of the Year
20:47over Calvin Johnson
20:48down there.
20:50That's Hunter
20:51with some bruising running
20:53up near the 20.
20:56Defensively,
20:57you just saw Jim Schwartz
20:58now in his third year
20:59as the D.C.
21:00and two years ago,
21:01this was the number one
21:02defense in the NFL.
21:03Fell to about the middle
21:04of the pack a season ago,
21:06but based on what
21:07we've seen in camp
21:07and especially those
21:08two joint practices
21:09with the Super Bowl
21:10champion Eagles,
21:11they could be back
21:12to the 20-23 level.
21:13We're really not sure
21:14how explosive
21:15this offense is going to be.
21:16It's going to be more
21:17the ground and pound
21:18and take shots with Flacco,
21:19but watching that defense
21:21against Carolina
21:22and then specifically
21:22against the Philadelphia
21:23Eagles offense,
21:24I think Gabe Brown
21:25stands a lot of confidence
21:26because they were
21:26completely dominant
21:27from the front
21:28all the way
21:29to the coverage
21:29and the back end.
21:30Well, that's Malik Collins
21:33making the stop.
21:35Ten-year vet
21:36signed in the offseason.
21:38He's formerly a third-round pick
21:40of the Dallas Cowboys.
21:41Wherever he has gone,
21:42whether it's been with Houston
21:44or the Raiders
21:45or Dallas,
21:46the guy has always produced.
21:47Just a pro.
21:48Those are the guys
21:49that you want,
21:50especially on the defensive line
21:51on the inside
21:52that are just reliable.
21:53They're always going
21:54to maintain their gap.
21:55They're always going
21:56to be a problem
21:56for the offense.
21:58Third and six
21:59for the Rams,
22:00still looking
22:00for their initial
22:01first out of the game.
22:08Keeping it on the ground
22:09and getting nowhere
22:10close to the sticks
22:12because Isaiah McGuire
22:13continues his remarkable run
22:16this preseason.
22:17Guess who?
22:18Isaiah McGuire,
22:19he already had two pressures
22:20on the Rams' quarterbacks,
22:21but there is a play.
22:24Let's see what this one is.
22:25Don't call Tawny.
22:28After the play was over,
22:29unsportsmanlike conduct.
22:31Defense number 57.
22:3315-yard penalty.
22:34Automatic.
22:34Goes down.
22:38Okay, well,
22:38that's one of those
22:39that the league
22:40has started to tighten
22:42the screws on
22:43in recent years.
22:45I suppose celebrating
22:47is one thing.
22:48They're drawing the line
22:49pretty early here
22:50in the preseason.
22:51Make sure the guys know
22:52during the regular season
22:53that's going to be a no-go.
22:54Preseason is a lot of time
22:56for the officials
22:56to emphasize
22:57and maybe call
22:58a little bit more
22:59than they normally would
23:00on some of the points
23:01that they've been talked to
23:02by the NFL
23:03that they really want
23:04to make sure
23:04that they tighten things up.
23:05So I think
23:06that's something
23:06that maybe doesn't get called
23:07in the regular season.
23:08So first down
23:12and that ball is incomplete
23:13as Devin Bush
23:14knocked it out
23:15of the hands of Stoops.
23:21Devin Bush doing a great job here
23:23recognizing the route coverage,
23:25seeing the eyes
23:26of the quarterback,
23:27breaking on the play
23:28and sticking his hand out there
23:29to disrupt the opportunity
23:30for the receiver
23:31to catch the ball,
23:32bring it all the way
23:33into his chest.
23:34Excellent reaction there
23:35by Devin Bush
23:36with his eyes on the quarterback
23:36first and then finding
23:38where that ball is going
23:39and disrupting the play.
23:40It's going to be
23:40a fast linebacking crew
23:42with Bush,
23:43Swechinger
23:43and Diabonte this year.
23:47Rams again on the ground
23:49and again it's Devin Bush
23:51wrapping up Hunter
23:53and a loss of a yard.
23:56Jim Schwartz doesn't care
23:58that this is a preseason game.
23:59He's blitzing,
24:00he's treating this game plan
24:01just like he would
24:02in the regular season.
24:03You see Devin Bush there
24:04from his linebacker spot
24:05to the offense
24:06is right running
24:07right through the middle
24:07of that defense again.
24:09It's that quick
24:09that's our time out.
24:11Cleveland,
24:12their first.
24:13It will be 30 seconds.
24:14Quick recognition.
24:15Thanks Brad.
24:15I appreciate
24:16cutting me off there.
24:17Quick recognition
24:18by Devin Bush
24:18understanding
24:19what the play is,
24:20seeing the ball
24:21and then blasting
24:22right through the A-gaps
24:23of the Los Angeles Rams
24:25for a big play.
24:27All right,
24:27we will pause now
24:28for a word
24:28from Sarshan Auto Group.
24:31I'm Al Gare
24:32of the Cleveland Browns.
24:34Proud to be a member
24:34of Team Sarshan.
24:35Go on.
24:53I'll come out of the league
24:53of these live four
24:54divided teams
24:55because when we come together
24:56on and off the field,
24:57we can accomplish anything.
24:58Community, teamwork,
25:00strength.
25:00It's what we're all about.
25:01Well, that's the most
25:03airtime Miles Garrett
25:04has gotten here
25:04in the preseason.
25:05Right there.
25:06Good job.
25:07Hope he's not tired
25:08after that long commercial there.
25:10You saw him warming up
25:11today a little bit.
25:12Yes, in pads.
25:13They're in pads.
25:14And actually,
25:14he was the last Browns
25:15to leave the field
25:16during pregame
25:17to a thunderous ovation
25:19for sign that
25:20four-year extension.
25:21third and 11
25:26for the Rams.
25:29Win.
25:30Plenty of time.
25:31Good protection.
25:32Leaks out.
25:34He's going to run it.
25:36End up about six yards
25:37shy of the first down.
25:39First time the Rams
25:40offensive line
25:41has been sound
25:42in their protection.
25:43Browns are running
25:43some stunts there.
25:45ETs,
25:45TEs
25:46trying to get their guys free.
25:48Just rushing four
25:48for one of the few times
25:50here we've seen today.
25:51And great job by the Rams.
25:53But the secondary
25:53for the Browns
25:54holds up in coverage
25:55and forces the punt.
25:56That's really the way
25:57you draw it up.
25:58When you're only going
25:58to set four
25:59on a third long,
26:00you've got to have
26:00that good tight coverage
26:01in the back end
26:02and expect a throwaway
26:04or quarterback
26:04just scrambling
26:05and getting out of bounds.
26:06Looks like Joe Flacco
26:07is going to get
26:08a third bite at the apple.
26:09He's got his helmet back on.
26:11First Carter
26:12from the 10.
26:15Gets it up to the 20.
26:18And here comes
26:18Joe Flacco
26:19for a third
26:20and perhaps final series.
26:24Five for six today.
26:25The lone misfire,
26:26his first attempt
26:27of the day
26:28to Jerry Judy.
26:30Which was really a ball
26:31that Judy should have caught.
26:33Flacco threw it low
26:34and away.
26:35Not an easy catch.
26:36I mean,
26:36I couldn't have made it,
26:37but that's one
26:38that you'd like to see caught.
26:39So for Flacco,
26:40a very efficient outing thus far.
26:45Jack Conklin,
26:46the right tackle
26:47has been removed
26:47from the game.
26:49So Jackson Barton,
26:50number 68,
26:51is checked in.
26:54Teller
26:54and Jones,
26:57the two opening day
26:58starters,
26:58remain in.
27:01Once again,
27:01if we hear anything
27:02about Ethan Posick,
27:03we will pass it along.
27:04Flacco on a play fake.
27:06Dumps it out to Ford.
27:07Nice adjustment
27:07on the catch.
27:09Gains about a yard
27:10or so before being
27:11brought down
27:12by Cam Lampkin.
27:15Jerome Ford does a great job
27:17finishing with the ball
27:18in his hand
27:19a couple times
27:19down the sideline already.
27:20We've seen him lower
27:21his shoulder,
27:22gain a couple extra yards
27:23there,
27:24running after the catch,
27:25giving a nice little move
27:26near the sideline,
27:27but just not going down
27:28easy, right?
27:29That's that mentality
27:30that as a running back
27:31you want to build
27:31even in preseason,
27:33even in training camp,
27:34so it carries over
27:35during the regular games.
27:36Second and nine
27:41for the Browns.
27:45That's Pierre Strong
27:46for the first time.
27:48Dragged down
27:49after a minimal game.
27:50Strong was great
27:51last week in the win
27:52in Philadelphia.
27:54Ran 13 times
27:55for 89 yards.
27:57Has a real burst
27:58about him.
27:58Averages five yards
27:59per carry.
28:00He's a guy I'd like
28:00to see get in
28:01on the action
28:01a little bit more.
28:03Yeah, with
28:03Quinshawn Judkins' status
28:04with the Browns
28:05still a little bit
28:06in question
28:07who are going to be
28:08the workhorse backs
28:10for the Browns
28:11this season.
28:11Drone Ford's done
28:12a great job.
28:13They've had some
28:14really nice play
28:15from Dylan Sampson
28:16and Pierre Strong
28:17and had the right tackle.
28:18Not missed his block
28:19on that one.
28:20He may have some space
28:21there for a man to run.
28:22Third and eight.
28:24Screen set up.
28:25Plenty of space.
28:25It's going to be strong.
28:26Gets the first down.
28:27Pass the 35
28:28and the 40.
28:31Browns with a perfect
28:32play call
28:33against the Rams.
28:34Really nice timing
28:36on the screen.
28:37You'll see here
28:38the Browns do a great job
28:39of starting the protection
28:40and then getting out
28:41in time.
28:42You saw a great block
28:43there by number 56
28:45Luke Whibler
28:45the center
28:46who's in for the
28:47Ethan Posick injury
28:48and great job there
28:49with the finish
28:50on this run again.
28:52Not going down easy.
28:53Getting those extra yards.
28:55Converting that thing
28:55to a first down
28:56and keeping the chains moving.
28:58Minute and a half to go
28:59here in the opening quarter.
29:01Flacco is connected
29:02on seven of his first
29:03eight for 55 yards.
29:09Flacco to throw again.
29:12Connects with Njoku
29:13and a first down
29:14into Rams territory
29:15down at the 45.
29:19Boy, David Njoku
29:20became a different player
29:21when Joe Flacco
29:22signed on
29:23at the end
29:23of the 2023 season.
29:25These guys have
29:25tremendous chemistry.
29:27Those guys have
29:27such a special connection.
29:29Flacco feels so comfortable
29:30with the way
29:31Njoku finds
29:32the little open space
29:34those windows.
29:34Kind of like
29:35if you remember
29:35Patrick Mahomes
29:36and Travis Kelsey
29:37it's like they're just
29:38playing basketball out there.
29:39They're going to an open spot.
29:41Nothing that's written
29:42in the playbook
29:42but they just have
29:43that great feel
29:44between the two of them.
29:45Called him a beautiful
29:46human being.
29:49Classic Njoku
29:50comments there.
29:53Flacco again.
29:55Fannin.
29:56He's got nowhere to go.
29:58Well read by the red.
29:58But look at this.
29:59The spin move.
30:02He was not finished.
30:05That's about a good
30:07two yard reception
30:08as you'll see
30:09at this level.
30:11That was a fun one
30:11for being a play
30:12that really was
30:13sniffed out early
30:14by the Rams.
30:16It was supposed
30:16to be a tight end screen.
30:17They were kind of
30:18all over that.
30:19But you know
30:20what I really like
30:20is that Browns
30:22have had a physical
30:23training camp this year.
30:24You're seeing the results
30:26on the field here
30:27with that physicality.
30:29Well the Browns
30:30starters have played
30:31the balance
30:31of the first quarter
30:32and it has shown
30:33a little sparky.
30:35That's right.
30:36Harold Vannon Jr.
30:38connecting with Joe
30:39and a 7-0 lead.
30:42Brought to you
30:43by Park Place Technologies.
30:45Park Place Technologies
30:46supporting 100,000
30:47data centers
30:48in 180 countries
30:49and your Cleveland Browns.
30:50And aren't they glad
30:51that they did?
30:52Browns with another
30:53dominant quarter.
30:54In fact the Rams
30:55lone first down
30:56came courtesy
30:56of a taunting penalty.
30:59Joe Flacco
31:00spinning it.
31:02Nine straight completions.
31:03Six different receivers
31:04have caught passes.
31:06It's got to go in here.
31:08As do the Browns
31:10opening play
31:10of the second quarter.
31:12Flacco.
31:13Pressured.
31:14Dropped.
31:20Elias Neal
31:22with the sack.
31:22In the meantime
31:26the Browns
31:26last drive
31:27resulted in the
31:28touchdown
31:29for the first string
31:30offense.
31:30Jerome Ford
31:31laying the wood
31:32and then Dylan Sampson
31:33with the spin move
31:34to eventually set up
31:35the rookie tight end.
31:37Harold Vannon Jr.
31:38running the post
31:38doing a great job
31:39securing the football
31:40taking the hit
31:41and getting that
31:42touchdown in the NFL
31:43for a guy that's
31:45playing college ball
31:46down the street
31:47that's got to be
31:47a big moment
31:48even in the preseason.
31:50Third and 18
31:51Browns will keep it
31:51on the ground.
31:53Strong gets back
31:54a few
31:55and so let's see
31:56if it'll be punt time.
31:58It will be
31:58as Corey Pajorquez
32:00trots onto the field
32:01for the second time today.
32:03So the Browns
32:04were moving yet again
32:05but the sack
32:06did him in.
32:07It's an area
32:07they're definitely
32:08going to have to clean up.
32:10Only Caleb Williams
32:12was sacked more times
32:13a season ago
32:13than the Cleveland
32:14Browns quarterbacks.
32:15And a lot of those
32:16were just getting
32:16on the same page
32:17with your protection schemes
32:19between your tight ends
32:20your running backs
32:21your offensive line
32:22and then a quarterback
32:22knowing where he's protected.
32:24That one that
32:24we had a Sacavante Marshall
32:26did use great technique
32:27and block inside out
32:29on that linebacker
32:30who was able to slip him
32:31to the inside.
32:32Offense number 22
32:35five yard penalty
32:36fourth down.
32:40So false start
32:42will launch it
32:42five yards back
32:43for the Browns.
32:45Give our punter
32:46a little bit more space there.
32:48We saw Corey Pajorquez
32:49on his last punt
32:50standing on his 20 yard line.
32:52Booth the ball
32:52landed on the one yard line
32:54bounces back.
32:55So he's got plenty of leg
32:56and probably actually
32:57is not upset
32:58about backing up
32:59a little bit.
32:59Well you could keep
33:00it going for him.
33:01Last year
33:01he booted an 84 yarder
33:03against the Raiders.
33:05That was the longest
33:05in Browns history.
33:08Stoops to return
33:09it calls for the fair catch
33:10at his own 11.
33:12All right.
33:15Time right now
33:16for your trivia answer.
33:17It is brought to you
33:18by Franklin University.
33:19Franklin makes it possible
33:20for you to earn
33:20an affordable degree
33:21that fits your life.
33:23The question was
33:23who is the youngest
33:24Browns player
33:24to make a Pro Bowl appearance?
33:25You want to guess?
33:26I would guess Miles Garrett.
33:27I think that's a safe bet.
33:30Oh, Denzel Ward.
33:31Close.
33:3221 years old.
33:33The first of four
33:34Pro Bowl appearances
33:35and coming off
33:36his best season
33:37by the way
33:37a year ago.
33:38It was tough for the team.
33:40He was outstanding.
33:41Greg Newsome.
33:42Called him
33:42the best cornerback
33:43in the league
33:44this offseason
33:44and he's really played
33:45like that thus far
33:46in the preseason
33:47training camp.
33:49Cody Schrader
33:50in the backfield
33:51for the Rams.
33:52His dresser win
33:52remains in the game.
33:53Looks deep.
33:54Looks left.
33:56Overthrows Terrence Ferguson.
33:57The second round pick
33:59out of Oregon
33:59who caught an awful lot
34:00of passes from the Browns
34:02third round selection.
34:03Dylan Gabriel.
34:05Rayshon Jenkins there
34:06doing a nice job.
34:07He's got man coverage.
34:08They're trying to run.
34:08We used to call it
34:09like a stop route.
34:10Basically, it's just
34:10an inside fade there
34:11where when you have
34:12inside leverage
34:13by the defender,
34:15you've got some space
34:16on the sideline
34:16as long as you don't get
34:17any hook curl player
34:19that's sliding out there.
34:20But good job
34:21Rayshon Jenkins
34:22squeezing the receiver
34:23to the sideline
34:23giving the quarterback
34:24nowhere to fill the football.
34:25For a guy that played
34:26offensive line
34:26you know a lot
34:27about catching the ball.
34:28I can look at spaces.
34:29I can't catch it
34:30but I can tell you
34:30what you should have done.
34:31Not true.
34:32Not true.
34:33End around.
34:35That's Presley
34:35getting up toward the 20.
34:37Good spin move.
34:39Dom Jones finally wraps him up
34:40but not before
34:41a Rams first down.
34:45Up to the 28 yard line.
34:47Dom Jones in there
34:48on the tackle.
34:49He's going to be
34:49one of the guys
34:50that they're taking
34:51a good look at here
34:51and trying to figure out
34:52what type of a role
34:53can he have
34:54in the secondary this year
34:55with like I mentioned earlier
34:57the injury to MJ Emerson
34:58trying to figure out
34:58what that depth
34:59is going to look like
35:00behind Newsom and Ward.
35:03Yeah it's possible
35:04the Browns are going to be
35:04doing a little
35:05cornerback shopping
35:06on cut down Tuesday.
35:07Four o'clock
35:08Cleveland time.
35:10Trader right up the middle.
35:13There's a lot of the Browns
35:14second team defense
35:15is in there now.
35:17Gain of almost eight.
35:18We talked about
35:22Jim Schwartz's defense
35:23being really impressive
35:24all preseason
35:26pretty much unblockable
35:27from that defensive line
35:28and one of their marquees
35:30is the way that they run
35:31to the football
35:31the way they hit
35:32the way they play physical
35:33you know
35:33kind of reflection
35:34of the defensive coordinator's
35:36attitude
35:37and the type of person
35:37he is there
35:38so a little soft
35:39on that direct run
35:40from the Rams
35:41you'd like to see him
35:41tighten it up here
35:42maybe send a pressure
35:43right here
35:44from every linebacker core
35:45Presley in motion
35:47he's going to get it
35:48and he spins
35:50out of a tackle
35:51does a nice job
35:52to get the ball back
35:53maybe a yard gain
35:56Devin Bush
35:59had him wrapped up
36:00for just a second
36:01actually it was
36:02Trojan Shoyinka
36:03who had him initially
36:04and then Bush
36:06to clean it up
36:07nice athletic play
36:08there by Trojan Shoyinka
36:10seeing the jet sweep
36:11and being able
36:12to just run upfield
36:13get his hand
36:14on that receiver
36:14it's a tough angle
36:15for him
36:16you've got a guy
36:17who's already faster
36:17than you
36:18running towards
36:19the sideline
36:19and you've got to
36:20be able to make
36:21that play
36:21otherwise that guy
36:22runs a long way
36:23down your sideline
36:24third and two
36:25Rams on the ground
36:26Traynor tripped up
36:29behind the line
36:30of scrimmage
36:30and he'll lose one
36:32and they'll bring
36:35the punt unit
36:36back on
36:37so the Browns
36:37defense tightens
36:39Browns sent
36:41secondary pressure
36:42there
36:42great job
36:43by number 28
36:45Rayshon Jenkins
36:46getting in there
36:46getting physical
36:47clouding up
36:49those gaps
36:49to the inside
36:50where the Rams
36:50are trying to run
36:51giving them
36:52an opportunity
36:52to get off the field
36:53here forcing the Rams
36:54to punt
36:5512 year veteran
36:57Shelby Harris
36:57in on the action
36:58there
36:59now in his third
37:00year with the Browns
37:01what a great career
37:03he's had
37:03as a
37:04originally a
37:05seventh round pick
37:06Evans
37:08for the fourth
37:09time
37:09and Carter's
37:10going to watch
37:10it sail
37:11out of bounds
37:12well Joe
37:16Flacco's day
37:17appears to be
37:18done
37:19up next
37:20the third round
37:21pick
37:21Dylan Gabriel
37:22makes his
37:23home debut
37:23for the Browns
37:25with a seven
37:26nothing lead
37:27bank is proud to be
37:36the official bank
37:37of the Cleveland
37:37Browns
37:38speaking of which
37:39our quarterback profile
37:40is also brought to you
37:41by Huntington Bank
37:42as they've made a change
37:44it's the third round pick
37:45Dylan Gabriel
37:46who went 13th from 18
37:47in a starters role
37:48last week
37:49the win over the Eagles
37:50however a couple of turnovers
37:52he's going to look to improve
37:53on that
37:54looked great
37:55except for those two turnovers
37:57which is hard to say
37:57but when you're a rookie
37:58in your first start
37:59you've got to take
38:00the win of
38:01operation
38:02decision making
38:03and just try to clean up
38:05those two mistakes here
38:05in this second opportunity
38:07Pierre Strong
38:08spins forward
38:10for about three
38:11so with Gabriel
38:14and then we'll see
38:14Shadur Sanders
38:15the big question is
38:16does this organization
38:18feel comfortable
38:19with them being
38:20one snap away
38:21yeah
38:22the plan all along
38:24was going to have
38:25Joe Flacco
38:26and Kenny Pickett
38:27competing for that
38:27number one spot
38:29Flacco
38:29wins it
38:30almost a little bit
38:31by default
38:31because Kenny Pickett
38:32has a long hamstring injury
38:33and the speculation now
38:35is hey
38:36these young guys
38:36have looked good enough
38:37in their first two
38:38opportunities
38:39that hey
38:40maybe they can be
38:41one snap away
38:41and make them
38:42really the backup quarterback
38:43when the season starts
38:44Gabriel to throw
38:45across the middle
38:46connects
38:47that's Jamari Thrash
38:48for a first down
38:49past the 35
38:50those two had a
38:51great connection
38:52last week in Philly
38:53Gabriel showing
38:55a veteran
38:56like ability
38:57to look off
38:58the defense
38:59look at that
38:59he's looking to his left
39:00first
39:00and then he comes back
39:01all the way across
39:02the middle
39:03to Jamari Thrash
39:04in the second window
39:05on the dig route
39:05over the middle
39:06great job
39:07manipulating the defense
39:08with your eyes
39:09something that
39:09a lot of times
39:10you just see with
39:11veteran quarterbacks
39:11gain of 15
39:14gets the ball
39:14up to the 38
39:16strong remains
39:21in the game
39:22he'll get the ball
39:27big hole
39:29and he takes
39:29a big hit
39:30Tanner Engel
39:34delivered the shot
39:35but
39:35a gain of 8
39:37a really nice shot
39:38by the left side
39:39of the Browns
39:40offensive line
39:40they recognized
39:41that the Rams
39:42were bringing pressure
39:43from over there
39:43they were able
39:44to slide out
39:45pass off
39:46the little slant
39:47game that
39:48the Rams
39:48were trying to make
39:49and actually
39:50stunt
39:51what the Rams
39:51were trying to do
39:52open up that
39:52huge lane
39:53for Pierre Strong
39:54and just run straight
39:55and if you're
39:55running back
39:55and grab the ball
39:56and just run
39:56straight up the field
39:58for 8 yards
39:58that's what we call
39:59a good run
40:00for the offensive line
40:01Imani Marshall
40:02who's been really
40:03impressive as an
40:04undrafted rookie
40:05free agent
40:06out of Appalachian
40:06State
40:07checks into the
40:07backfield
40:08Gabriel
40:09pressured
40:10spins
40:11rolls left
40:12and just wisely
40:13throws it away
40:14that's the type of
40:16play that
40:17the fans are not
40:18super pumped about
40:19but the Browns
40:20coaching staff
40:20is really happy
40:21because it's
40:22decision making
40:22as a rookie
40:23quarterback
40:24it's deciding
40:25when to try to
40:26make that play
40:26and take that
40:27chance
40:27and then
40:28sometimes
40:28just go live
40:29to play another
40:30down
40:30throw the ball
40:31out of bounds
40:32try to get out
40:32of the pocket
40:33but understand
40:33you don't have
40:34to win the game
40:35on every single
40:36throw
40:36particularly when
40:37you gain 8 yards
40:38on first down
40:38exactly
40:39it's 3rd and 2
40:40you're still in a
40:41very manageable
40:41situation to be able
40:42to pick this up
40:43so good job
40:44knowing the situation
40:44as well
40:45good job by my
40:46man over here
40:46Chris Rose
40:47identifying that
40:48as well
40:48well
40:48unfortunately
40:49I'm not the age
40:50of a rookie
40:50Marshall
40:51is going to get
40:53the first down
40:53and get it close
40:54to midfield
40:55as the drive
40:55continues
40:56so big picture
40:57here
40:57what do you think
40:58the Browns are
40:59thinking with their
41:00two rookies
41:01at this point
41:01obviously a lot
41:02of it depends
41:03on the health
41:03of Kenny Pickett
41:04he's a guy
41:05they loved
41:05it's why they
41:06traded for him
41:07in the spring
41:07they thought
41:08he'd have a
41:08legit shot
41:09to battle
41:10whomever
41:10they would bring
41:11into that
41:12quarterback room
41:12it ended up
41:13being Joe Flacco
41:14yet again
41:14and it's going
41:16to be an
41:16interesting mindset
41:17for the next
41:1872 hours
41:19a lot of speculation
41:19with Kenny Pickett
41:21missing most of
41:22training camp
41:23are they going
41:23to be able
41:23to keep him
41:24around
41:24keep four
41:25quarterbacks
41:25which is
41:26unorthodox
41:27because then
41:27you've got to
41:27make harder
41:28decisions
41:28at some
41:29of the other
41:29positions
41:30and cut
41:30somebody
41:30maybe
41:31that
41:31you'd want
41:31to keep
41:32but I think
41:33they realize
41:33that Kenny Pickett
41:34even though he's
41:34not your starter
41:35he still has
41:36good value
41:36right
41:36there's a lot
41:37of teams
41:37that value
41:38him at some
41:38point in their
41:39roster
41:39maybe if
41:40there's injuries
41:41across the league
41:42at the quarterback
41:43position that
41:44somebody might
41:44come calling
41:45so possibly
41:46keeping him
41:46around
41:47to maybe
41:48have him
41:49be the backup
41:49if you don't
41:50feel great
41:50about Dylan
41:51or Shadour
41:51or as an
41:52opportunity
41:57have been
41:57steadfast
41:58in their
41:58analysis
41:59of their
41:59rookies
41:59that these
42:00are both
42:01developmental
42:01guys
42:02they have
42:04treated it
42:05as such
42:05strong again
42:07burst for
42:08another first
42:09down
42:09I like his
42:12explosiveness
42:13by the way
42:13yeah he's
42:14seeing the
42:14blocking schemes
42:15in front of
42:16him really
42:16really well
42:17Kevin Jenkins
42:17the right guard
42:18does a great
42:19job getting
42:19hip to hip
42:20with his
42:20center on the
42:21double team
42:21creating a little
42:22bit of vertical
42:23displacement
42:24putting that
42:25defensive tackle
42:26into the lap
42:26of the linebacker
42:27and then allowing
42:28Pierre Strong
42:29to pick his
42:29play
42:30pick his hole
42:31in the middle
42:32he's going
42:32a gap
42:32and all of a
42:33sudden boom
42:33he jumps out
42:34as soon as
42:34that linebacker
42:35comes downhill
42:35picks up that
42:36first down
42:36I don't know
42:37if you salivate
42:37more talking
42:38about offensive
42:39line play
42:39or your
42:39wagyu beef
42:40yeah
42:40but it's
42:42definitely a tie
42:43at this point
42:43though I'm
42:44not hungry
42:44I'm just
42:44hungry for
42:45some more
42:45line play
42:46baby let's
42:47go
42:47Gabriel
42:48rolls
42:48hits
42:49Marshall
42:49wide open
42:50inside the
42:5130
42:51inside the
42:5225
42:52and another
42:53easy
42:54Browns
42:54first down
42:55doing Gabriel
42:56booting to his
42:57left to his
42:58strong throwing
42:59arm
42:59doing a great
43:00job just
43:01making the
43:02routine plays
43:02look easy
43:03and that's so
43:04important for a
43:04young quarterback
43:05because you're
43:06going to get
43:06very few layups
43:07in the NFL
43:08and you've got
43:08to be able to
43:09deliver when you
43:10have those
43:10opportunities to
43:11give your guy
43:12not only just
43:12a catch but
43:13a catchable ball
43:15where he can run
43:15and make some
43:16yards after catch
43:17just like he did
43:17there
43:17Browns offense
43:20moving well
43:20backups in
43:23for both
43:24sides
43:24the Rams
43:25obviously
43:25started their
43:26backups
43:26Gabriel
43:27turns
43:28throws
43:29overshoots
43:30Caden Davis
43:31time right now
43:33for another
43:33sideline report
43:34presented by
43:35Sugardale
43:35the official
43:36bacon of the
43:36Cleveland Browns
43:37Aditi has more
43:38on the quarterback
43:38situation
43:39Chris one more
43:40point to add to
43:41what you and Joe
43:42are saying about
43:42Kenny Pickett
43:43Kevin Stefanski
43:44has repeatedly
43:45said you cannot
43:46say enough good
43:47things about him
43:48and he has
43:49repeatedly called
43:50him a good
43:50teammate
43:50tonight I can
43:51tell you through
43:52three games of
43:53standing here on
43:54the sideline
43:54whenever whatever
43:56quarterback comes
43:57over to the
43:57sideline it's
43:58Kenny Pickett
43:59who immediately
43:59sits down next
44:00to him who has
44:01the tablet with
44:02him we saw it
44:02all last week
44:03with Dylan
44:04Gabriel when
44:04Tommy Reese was
44:05up in the box
44:05there's Kenny
44:06Pickett trying to
44:07coach him up
44:07thank you
44:09Aditi
44:09Gabriel trying to
44:11squeeze it into
44:12thrash in the
44:13window gets
44:14knocked away
44:15and it'll be
44:17third long
44:17for the
44:18Browns
44:18yeah Kenny
44:19Pickett is
44:20about as
44:20disappointed as
44:21anybody that in
44:22late July he
44:22pulled up lame
44:23and just was
44:24never a true
44:25part of this
44:25competition from
44:26that point forward
44:27yeah I think
44:28when the Browns
44:29signed him this
44:30offseason there
44:31was every intent
44:32to make him the
44:32starter and then
44:33you bring in
44:34Flacco and then
44:35you say okay
44:35well let's have
44:36them compete but
44:37we feel really good
44:37about whoever wins
44:38that job but like
44:39you mentioned bad
44:40hamstring injury
44:41earlier in camp
44:41but never really
44:42had that opportunity
44:43third and ten for
44:45the Browns
44:46Gabriel across
44:48the middle
44:48connects
44:49Whiteheart gets
44:50flipped head over
44:51heels but it's
44:52another first down
44:53good toughness by
44:56one of the guys
44:57that's vying for
44:58that third tight end
44:59roll if there is
45:00one on this team
45:01and he's gonna walk
45:02off with a little
45:03bit of a limp
45:03and with that the
45:04Browns are in the
45:05red zone presented
45:06by Milkbone
45:07Milkbone bringing
45:08more dog to the
45:09dog pound
45:09great job by
45:10Gabriel bouncing
45:11back there to
45:12two misfires
45:13at the beginning
45:14of that first
45:15down series and
45:17comes back on
45:17third down when
45:18you have to be
45:19big you want to
45:19be a big time
45:20quarterback in the
45:21NFL you gotta make
45:21those plays on
45:23third down finding
45:23the window delivering
45:25a catchable ball
45:25Marshall picks his
45:29way forward to
45:30about the ten not
45:31much there so how
45:33would you assess the
45:34play of the two
45:35rookie quarterbacks
45:35so far they've
45:37both been very
45:38impressive I would
45:39say it has not
45:40looked like the
45:41moment was too
45:41big for them which
45:42so many times I
45:43mean having a
45:43billion rookie
45:44quarterbacks you
45:45see them in
45:46practice they're
45:47doing good stuff you
45:48feel like they're
45:48making progress all
45:49of a sudden they go
45:50out there in the
45:50game and they lock
45:52up because it is a
45:53big deal when you're
45:54playing in the NFL I
45:55don't care what
45:55program you came from
45:56this is a different
45:57level of pressure this
45:58is a different level of
45:59reading the defense and
46:00decision making both
46:02those guys have shown
46:03very cool calm poise
46:05when they're back there
46:06at quarterback
46:06Gabriel looking in and
46:08out of the hands of
46:09Gage Larvidan who's
46:11had an outstanding
46:11camp but I had it at
46:14about the five instead
46:16it'll be third and
46:16eight rounds running
46:18just short passing
46:19concepts here a bunch
46:20of stick routes which
46:21like quick out here by
46:22Larvidan he uses the
46:24speed cut so instead of
46:26making a hard 90 degree
46:27angle he's just kind of
46:28bending that with speed
46:29giving the quarterback
46:30great opportunity to
46:32throw the ball and I
46:32like Dylan Gabriel just
46:33being decisive on that
46:34concept just get the ball
46:36out of his hands quick
46:36get it to your playmaker
46:37unfortunately Jamari
46:39or sorry that was
46:40Gage Larvidan lets the
46:42ball slip right through
46:42his fingers third and
46:43eight Gabriel retreats
46:46rolls left he's got some
46:47space he throws
46:48incomplete he was
46:50looking for thrash in the
46:51corner of the end zone
46:52and couldn't quite get it
46:54done so the Browns
46:57have to settle for a
46:58field goal attempt
46:59Browns get a little bit
47:01of pressure there from
47:02the right tackle getting
47:03pushed into the
47:04quarterback but Dylan
47:05Gabriel does a great job
47:06recognizing it escaping the
47:08pocket but I don't love
47:09the decision to throw the
47:10ball that was not really
47:12a much of a window to be
47:13able to throw it towards
47:15the sideline I would love
47:15to see Dylan Gabriel use
47:17those wheels and try to get
47:18himself into the end zone
47:19well let's remember he was
47:20nursing a hamstring earlier
47:22this camp just got cleared
47:24last week to return to team
47:25and then the game
47:27the field goal is good by Dustin
47:32Hopkins and the Browns have
47:34yet another scoring drive this
47:36one courtesy of their third
47:38round rookie Dylan Gabriel it's
47:4010-0
47:40good morning with News 5's good
47:45morning Cleveland Tiffany
47:47Tarpley Mike Brookbank and
47:49meteorologist Trent McGill have
47:50more of everything you need more
47:51local news consumer news traffic
47:53and power of five weather so
47:54you're all set for the day ahead
47:56Browns get a short field goal from
47:59Dustin Hopkins to take a 10-0
48:01lead that scoring drive is
48:02presented by Howard Hanna win big
48:04with Howard Hanna the official real
48:06estate provider of the Cleveland
48:07Browns mixed bag for Dylan Gabriel
48:10and his first drive just three of
48:11eight for 43 yards Hopkins to boot
48:15it away Schrader will take it
48:17there's a flag down it's going to
48:20get past the 30 to 35 and wrapped
48:22up there DeMonte Casey Christopher
48:25Edmonds in on the stop
48:27not a ton of flags here in the first
48:36half illegal formation receiving team
48:42number forty five at five yard
48:44penalty is assessed from the end of
48:46the play it's first down all right
48:49time right now to check in with a
48:50DD King Cabala with a man who's
48:52started the game and is done for
48:54the day we are indeed here with
48:55Joe Flacco who's done for the day
48:57but for the first time in seven
48:59months live action how did it feel
49:01yeah it's I can say like it's good
49:05that we did that because you get you
49:07get through some of the little stuff
49:09that you just you know you have to get
49:11through when you go back out on the
49:13field for the first time with live
49:14action so I'm glad that we were able
49:16to get out there and get some plays
49:17under our belt today nine for ten
49:19incompletions the one incompletion
49:21went to the guy who's supposed to be
49:22your number one receiver to six
49:24different pass catchers what's the
49:26confidence to be gleaned from that
49:27well yeah I don't I don't listen I
49:29don't think it was anything perfect
49:31but you know to just get little
49:32completions get the ball in guys
49:33hands and then just see what they
49:35can do with it I mean you saw a
49:37little bit of that in the third
49:37down that I hit our back out of the
49:39backfield with and he and he made
49:42couple guys miss and you know that's
49:44what this game's all about getting in
49:45your playmakers hands and letting
49:47them go win the game for you we see
49:49the way that you're walking around
49:51talking to the offensive linemen now
49:53that it's officially your team what's
49:55the difference you know it's going to
49:59be tough for me to admit there's
50:00much of a difference you know I I
50:02think I kind of am who I am and I'm
50:04able to be that you know even without
50:07that title but I think as far as the
50:11team's concerned it's it's always
50:13good to have a guy that you can look
50:14at and know that he's going to be
50:16the guy that's under center for you
50:17and I think it's just a good way to
50:18give everybody confidence going into
50:20the season like I said I'm going to
50:22be that same person no matter what but
50:25yeah it feels good to be able to
50:27look at the guys in the eye now
50:28knowing that I'm going to be out of
50:29bounds at the 34 yard line and I'm
50:30going to be on Sunday the conversation
50:31surrounding this team of course is the
50:33makeup of the quarterback room and
50:35how deep it will actually go this many
50:38years in how much do you think about
50:40what sort of support you'd like in that
50:42room um you know it's funny I I think
50:44I probably take for granted what's in
50:46that what you know what that room is
50:47all about because I've been part of a
50:49QB room for so long but it's a
50:51special place you know it's one of the
50:53toughest positions to play in sports
50:55so to have a room that you can kind of
50:56all go in and feel good about and you
50:59know kind of bounce things off of each
51:00other and and also just have good
51:02laughs and have good relationships with
51:03is important and I probably do take
51:06that for granted a little bit listen
51:07we got a good room you know we've got
51:08a lot of guys that like to have fun and
51:10a lot of guys that are learning
51:11football you know they're young and
51:13they're anxious to learn and it makes
51:15for a good environment and it keeps me
51:17you know on my toes and you know I'm
51:20loving every bit of it keeps you young
51:21too of course you know hanging around
51:24these guys at least gives me the
51:25illusion that I'm still a young guy
51:27so last one do you think that your
51:30children enjoyed this performance
51:35I'll be interested to see how much of
51:36it they watched or if they're
51:38swimming or doing something like
51:39that they they enjoyed it I don't
51:41know if they're gonna tell me that
51:42but they enjoyed it they they're
51:43enjoying every bit of this and not
51:45honestly like they're a big them
51:47enjoying it the way they are is one
51:50of the big reasons why I'm still
51:51able to do this and and have so much
51:53fun with it they make it that much
51:56more special so hopefully Daniel
51:58believes you are indeed the starter
52:00that's right we appreciate it thanks
52:02so much best of luck this appreciate
52:04it Joe you're allowed to run home and
52:06tell your kids you are indeed the
52:07starter whether they believe you or
52:08don't want to believe you you are the
52:10week one starter sounds like they're
52:12gonna have to find him at the
52:12swimming pool though yeah they're not
52:14gonna be glued to the TV apparently a
52:17couple of big pass plays to their
52:18second-round pick Terrence Ferguson
52:20have gotten the Rams in the red zone
52:22for the first time today in fact they
52:24hadn't run a play in Cleveland
52:26territory until this drive dresser
52:30win looking plenty of time he's got
52:34space along the left side rolls
52:36rolls completes that is a nice catch
52:41there by Drake Stoops gets it down
52:43close to the goal line inside the two
52:47Browns and man coverage in the back
52:49end forcing Rams quarterback to have
52:52to scramble around because he's got a
52:54good protection but nobody to go to and
52:56then with a great toe tap down the
52:58sideline Stoops is able to catch that
53:01ball with Tony Brown just too much time
53:02and coverage for those guys to have to
53:04hang on got to get some pressure from
53:06your defensive line good job by Damonte
53:08KZ to submarine Schrader before he can
53:10get in for the score Rams are on the
53:13move down 10-0 at the two-minute
53:15warning
53:16work and play in Northeast Ohio and
53:24there of course the ownership Jimmy
53:26Haslam sure Dee is around here as well
53:29executive vice president of the
53:30Cleveland Browns JW Johnson checking
53:32out the Browns defense trying to stiffen
53:36here on second and goal Schrader in the
53:39backfield play fake to him win throws
53:42touchdown Stoops
53:46and somewhere Papa Bob the former
53:50Oklahoma Sooners coach is celebrating
53:52his son's touchdown Rams do a good job
53:56they're faking the jet sweep in one
53:58direction all the blocking goes in the
54:01same direction and then you boot out and
54:03a lot of times on the backside you get
54:05Stoops you get those backside receivers
54:07acting like they're walking down
