00:00we have with us top tier terp of course uh justin turpin who writes for wei.com twitch chat says
00:05terp looking angelic and white today oh i like that it's a white little scotty schefflerish yeah
00:11he is you think so i've gotten that before that's what you are potty scheffler yes um okay so
00:19obviously drake may you know it's been fun watching him and aj brown and and you know the
00:24connection the two of them have seemed to have already my question is and i believe that this
00:28is going to be a storyline the entire season long is he going to be able to stay standing
00:34this offensive line has a bunch of question marks and i don't know how deep it is uh like what
00:40do
00:40what do you believe do you believe it's going to be as big as an issue as i'm making it
00:44right now
00:44it just to me seems like that might be one of the most problematic things to watch this season with
00:49this team i feel like that's always been kind of the default issue that we've been going back to
00:53for the patriots for the last couple years is how the offensive line is going to look and against a
00:57really strong defensive front with the eagles they've looked really good i think they're
01:01some of the one-on-one stuff isn't as great and ted and i were just talking that's not real
01:06football
01:06the one-on-one it eliminates any nuance i always feel bad for guys that get you know beat up
01:11on
01:12one-on-ones because it's not real football it's not how it's played i love watching that though
01:15it's fun to watch but it doesn't teach you it doesn't that's real a pass rusher and a tackle that
01:20happens one-on-one during every game right but it's you got no no you have you have there's so
01:25much
01:25more you have a guy next to you you have the quarterback that's holding the ball back there
01:28you know you didn't play the game like i did you're right what am i what are you talking about
01:32what am i but on the 11 11s like they've been great i had yesterday one sack elijah baratucker
01:37missed a stunt and got drake may got sacked and then today caleb lomu came in for morgan moses towards
01:43the end of practice they kind of gave moses the second half of the practice off and he got beat
01:47for one
01:47but that's a rookie like these guys the plays that for the most part when you're watching these joint
01:51practices it will be apparent if the offensive line is struggling if the offensive line the story
01:56is the story that would be apparent and i haven't felt that once and i feel like uh terp that
02:01the
02:01offensive line has been the story for the last three training right that's what i was saying at the
02:05beginning like it's been kind of the default everyone goes back to the offensive line well last year it's
02:09like you have two rookies on the offensive line how does that pan out this year i feel like we're
02:13not
02:13talking a ton about it maybe that's because they've brought in more talent this year than really in
02:17recent memory they have the best you know pass catcher slash skill player since rob gronkowski
02:22and aj brown drake may coming off the season he had last year obviously have the running backs like
02:27and that's another thing when you're looking at the skill positions on this team there's really not
02:31one group that you're really shaky on like when you're looking around on the starting lineup it's
02:35like there is not one weak link on tight end i feel good about hunter henry and clearly they do
02:40if
02:40they're willing to give it a good job he looked great he actually got a ton of reps today with
02:45the one
02:45ones and he's shown flashes as both a pass blocker a run blocker and a pass catcher like he's a
02:51really
02:51athletic guy he's not the biggest guy in the world but he he's a very capable blocker um what would
02:57you
02:57what would you call this off is it is it weaponized is this this going to be a a a
03:02a high powered
03:04offense would you say does it have the ability to be called those types of things i think it certainly
03:09does when you're looking at the receiving threats that they brought in this year obviously with
03:13romeo dobbs and aj brown you got ramondre stevenson stevenson i think people are kind of sleeping on
03:18a little bit he was their best offensive player not named drake may for the entire second half of
03:23the year really when he came back from the injury he was one of their best offensive players and he
03:27looks great in camp this year it's very clear that the patriots view him as the starter he's been
03:33first up every time he's been getting a majority of the reps it's probably about like 65 35 somewhere
03:38in there with him and travion henderson but i think people are kind of sleeping on ramondre stevenson and what
03:43he's capable of like this is a really really deep offense and the quarterback who obviously
03:48had an unbelievable season last year was the runner up for mvp real quick rich i just want to ask
03:52this one last question for uh for me um what have you seen from the quarterback as i feel like
03:58they
03:58need to weaponize the quarterback and since like boots rollouts waggles get him on the run outside the
04:03pocket uh play actions more play actions there's been a lot of play are you seeing that and what is
04:08that
04:08part of his game look like yeah i think the play action has been very prominent in the offense
04:12same with the bootlegs they've been doing a lot of those i don't think you're going to see a ton
04:15of design runs just because it is training camp you're obviously not going to put the quarterback
04:18in that position certainly not in joint practices so i'm sure there will be more design runs as the
04:23season goes on but we haven't seen a ton of those yet but there has certainly been an emphasis on
04:28the
04:28play action as well as the bootlegs and bootlegs have looked good i mean the tight ends have found
04:31space in those eli rairdon i mean we it wasn't drake may but we saw that in the preseason it
04:36got wiped
04:36out by a penalty but that was one of the ones that we've seen yep 20 something yard gainer an
04:40ex-play
04:41there that he gets wide open on a bootleg so the offense has looked very very good and you know
04:45it should it's for the first time there's continuity for the first time in a long time
04:49there's continuity with the offensive coordinator with the quarterback you're bringing in more
04:53weapons around him like this is kind of what you've been looking for how many offensive coordinators
04:58like the first what four year five four the last five years have been different offensive
05:02coordinators like there's finally continuity so yeah this is kind of to be expected so terp i've been
05:08rooting for cash on booty to make this roster but it looks like there was an injury today that might
05:14actually write of just telegraphed where he's going to end up getting traded and that is jaden higgins
05:19suffered a torn acl during a joint practice with the raiders he's with the texans and that's casario
05:24running the the factory down there right that's right yeah yeah so doesn't doesn't that almost seem
05:30like the answers right now are being given to us like that's where cash on booty is going to end
05:35up
05:35is going to the texans it certainly makes a ton of sense but what are they willing to give like
05:40if
05:40i'm the patriots if they're offering you just a sixth round pick unless your intention is doing
05:44right by him for being a good soldier for you know coming here showing up and being a productive
05:48player and wanting him to be able to spread his wings and make the most of his contract year here
05:53if that's their intention then that's one thing but if you feel like you can find ways to him be
05:58on
05:59the field and be productive why would you trade him for like a six round pick i agree at this
06:02point i don't
06:02think you're necessarily getting a player i mean it had to be at least a fourth that's probably
06:06i mean look how good he was for them last year there's a very obvious connection with drake may
06:11he's proven that he can be very productive productive and i think the additions of dobbs
06:16and brown if you can have him on the field with them they stretch the field for him to get
06:20behind
06:20defenses and make more deep plays so yeah i wouldn't really just be rushing him out and i get it
06:25like
06:25if your intention is to do right by him that's one thing but they should probably be putting themselves
06:29first because every move they made this offseason was with the now in mind winning now going out and
06:35trading for aj brown sure that's a multi-year thing he's also that is a now move he's in his
06:40prime now
06:41you're trying to win now case john booty can help you win now all right keep him around i gotta
06:45know
06:46terp just tell me about aj brown just tell me about what you've been seeing and just like how things
06:51are
06:51fitting in down there it certainly looks like this is the number one wide receiver they expected him to
06:55come out and be and awesome you know he just he's making plays in the deep ball game or the
07:00short
07:00game that that slant concept with him is unstoppable and especially in the red zone there's just no
07:06slowing that that's a carryover from the eagles right he was great with right so i think this is
07:10exactly what they envisioned when they went out and traded the two first round picks and i think a lot
07:14of people are looking at that price i'm like oh aj brown at this age with this knee injury he
07:18looks
07:18totally fine and he looks like the type of player that they were envisioning when they went out and made
07:22that move does that make you feel all nice and tingly inside there ted i mean i gotta be honest
07:27i i can't wait there's the little the small little videos terp that are being put up right now
07:32of uh drake to aj brown i mean it's this is going to be this this is going to be
07:37fun to see this guy
07:38in person he's enormous he's he's he's got muscles on top of muscles on it's outrageous yeah he does
07:43he's like an action figure i didn't even realize that yeah he is can i ask do you think there'll
07:49be
07:49any issues with aj brown as far as if he starts feeling he's not getting as many targets as he
07:54should it's funny because it's been like a hot topic and a lot of conversation around that and
07:58obviously aj brown's past welcomes that conversation but didn't we do this all last
08:02year with stefan diggs nothing happened at least on the field nothing really came out of that
08:07it's a court cases did this happen i said on the field i said on the field at the end
08:13there was stuff off the field isn't it right when he first got here on the boat the court case
08:17at the
08:17end but on the field he was a leader they got way more out of him than they originally bargained
08:22for last year true is that is that variable yeah i think that's what i'm kind of getting at it's
08:27like was think about aj brown's career was this ever a conversation when he was in tennessee
08:31granted he was a younger player but he respects rapes he respects these guys these players respect
08:35them and they come in here they don't want to you know and you know what they respect i think
08:38the patriots and what the this program has done for the last 25 years as well so that
08:43factor that in i just want to real highlight uh there's might be people in their cars going
08:47really slant routes you're getting excited about slant routes when turt brings up the slant route
08:52with aj brown yeah because it's such a high success rate if you can get it uh figured out with
09:00that
09:00player key fourth downs key red zone uh uh possessions the slant can be a killer and you know
09:08you can and aj is the kind of guy that can take a slant route to the house so a
09:13slant route
09:14being you know having that timed up and being that being a successful part of this offense
09:18uh is to me is a great great sign because of it's a chain mover it's it's you can put
09:24points on the
09:24board uh it can be a a play in which you can go to the house uh with the right
09:29timing so i i like
09:30hearing that uh from you terp that that is a that's something that you've seen in the arsenal that's
09:34working and to that point i know a lot obviously yesterday drake made in the
09:38offense were the big talker how efficient they were how easily they moved the chains against
09:43a really strong eagles defense today wasn't necessarily the same but it's also red zone
09:48periods right that's to be expected when you move things into the red zone there's not as much space
09:52also the eagles go back to their team hotel yesterday watch the film again this is a really
09:56talented defensive team like they're going to figure things out you don't really you don't see
10:01teams back to back the nfl that doesn't happen so it is a little bit different but on one of
10:06drake
10:06may's interceptions both were targeted towards aj brown the first one that he threw that was right
10:11on like the it was kind of like an outright on the pole on the near the pylon the end
10:14zone
10:15it was fourth and five like he's looking to aj brown on fourth down and it was a forced throw
10:20yes
10:20but why don't you force that throw in practice on a fourth and five what he's going to eat it
10:25like
10:25make the throw see what you can do so good to not give up a touchdown that would be yeah
10:29well
10:29the picks it was all red zone period so they weren't like chasing him down you know it was picked
10:33off at the one yard line they're not going to chase him now the whistle blow right away
10:36on that pick six on the one oh they would have caught him the pass was thrown like they the
10:42ball was probably in like the eight the pass was intercepted right next to the pylon on the one
10:46like they're not going to waste their energy chasing this guy down the whistle was already blown
10:50by the way aj hates jalen hurts huh they actually they did talk today really they met oh they did
10:59yeah there's a video on the yeah there's a video on our instagram of that yeah they very brief dap
11:04up in conversation in the backfield you know who else was down there after practice was christian
11:08gonzalez oh is that right oh really after practice yeah so he was at the facility did you did you
11:12was
11:12he doing anything on the side fields it's kind of tough because they have a building in the way now
11:16like when they rebuild things there's a new building separates the practice field from those
11:20yes fields so i haven't seen him down there but he was down he came up after practice so he
11:26was at
11:26the facility today i like that that actually is encouraging that christian gonzalez isn't just
11:31like missing right now that i i like it should i read anything into that i mean i'm sure he's
11:36been
11:37present throughout this like if if not i think that the tone from his teammates from mike frable would be
11:44different hasn't he also kind of earned the benefit of doubt throughout this right like i know it's
11:49obviously the timing's interesting because he misses the practice his first practice he missed was
11:54the colts the joint practice hasn't been active since but the first 13 days of training camp he was
11:59a full participant out there and was you know there was no questions about this not to be mr
12:03negative but we had matthew judon present and sitting on a cooler and being disruptive you know
12:07so just being there doesn't always mean that it's a good thing right i mean but he he practiced he
12:11was a full participant christian's always was i think that judon never was like that's why i think
12:15he does deserve for a week a little bit of benefit of the doubt he 13 straight practices he was
12:19a full
12:19participant i know the timing's fishy and people are going to look into that but for now until we
12:25have reason to think otherwise i think you can it's totally okay to believe that this is injury related
