00:00Hello and welcome. I'm Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor. This is 5 Live.
00:03On the program today, a couple of stories that demand your attention.
00:07We begin with the protest that is now undergoing.
00:09Rahul Gandhi in a protest and dharna version for the second time,
00:13this time for the victims of the pellet guns.
00:17He is now sitting in protest outside the Parliament Street police station.
00:22It's been a couple of hours and he says he wants an FIR
00:26against those who fired pellet guns at the students in Jantar Madar.
00:32He's got a couple of victims with him and he's got support of other Congress leaders as well.
00:37Which way is this going? We don't know.
00:38Like I said, it's been about over an hour that he's been there.
00:42Let's see which way this really progresses.
00:44Then the other one, while talking about students,
00:48this time a clash between the CJP school checks and some locals.
00:54Were they locals? We don't know.
00:56Were they political party workers? We don't know just yet.
00:58But what we do know is that Ashutosh Ranka and part of his school,
01:03Theek Karo, a bhiyaan that has been going on by the Kokru Janata Party ever since the 15th of August,
01:08they were trying to reach a school in the outskirts of Jaipur
01:10where they met with some people who were protesting against their coming there.
01:14And those visuals are now viral.
01:16We'll tell you what exactly happened minute by minute,
01:19the entire sequence of events there.
01:20And then the child that went to learn but never came back home.
01:26This story is so horrific.
01:29It just shakes you up to the core that how a kid in nursery had gone to school
01:37and the teacher, while the child is crying,
01:42it just continues to scold him, slaps him,
01:45is trying to unbutton his shirt and take off his clothes
01:48and he ends up collapsing there.
01:52It's a story that has shaken up the internet definitely
01:57and every mother who's watched this story.
01:59So we'll bring you the details on that as well.
02:01But first up, as always, let me take you through the headlines at this hour.
02:10Fresh Congress protest in Delhi over the alleged use of pellet guns
02:13during the CJP's third.
02:15Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has staged Radharna
02:17outside the Parliament Street police station
02:19accompanied by pellet gun victim Sahil.
02:22And also Rahul has alleged that police refused to register an FIR
02:26despite repeated attempts.
02:27Priyanka Gandhi and several other Congress leaders
02:29have also joined in the protest.
02:32Delhi police sources now say that Sahil's complaint has been accepted
02:36with officials informing him that the matter is already before the court.
02:39The BJP has hit back at Rahul Gandhi's protest.
02:42BJP and BJP Nadda has described the dharna as a political drama
02:46alleging it is aimed at politics rather than students.
02:49Nadda also accused Rahul of trying to divert the attention
02:52from Congress' anti-national agenda
02:54and accused Rahul of running away from a discussion in Parliament.
03:00Meanwhile, the CJP team was attacked by villagers in Jaipur's Rampura,
03:05Kanwarpura village during a visit to inspect the government's school.
03:08The officials showed that workers being shoved and pushed,
03:11stones being pelted at vehicles and car windows being smashed as well.

03:20and has demanded arrests and action against those responsible.
03:23The Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar's resignation as well over this matter.

03:31and claim that Rs. 12,50,000 has already been sanctioned for the school.
03:43Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore has backed the rendition of the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram.
03:49Sharmila said that references to Vande Kali and Vande Durga may be difficult
03:54for people who believe in one God.
03:57Actor in BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has responded,
04:00calling Sharmila's views on art limiting and contrived.
04:04Kangana said that references to deities in the song are metaphorical
04:09and should be understood in the context of the freedom struggle.
04:1526-year-old woman was killed after a speeding Aston Martin
04:19hit her outside a mall in Hyderabad.
04:21The victim, Bharti Mukhi, was a saleswoman at the mall.
04:26Police say she was crossing the road on the 16th of August when a car struck her.
04:30The Madhapur police has now registered a case against Sanju,
04:36a son of Jan Sena Party Rajasabha MP, Mr. Ramesh.
04:42Police say evidence indicates that Sanju was driving.
04:46He has not been arrested yet as the offence is bailable
04:51and a notice has been served to him.
04:55A six-year-old LKG student in Andhra Pradesh has died
05:00after an alleged assault by a teacher.
05:04The child, Pranay Tej, is seen in the camera crying
05:07and repeatedly pleading that the teacher pulls him and slaps him further.
05:13Pranay's parents have demanded action against the teacher and the school.
05:17Police have registered a case,
05:18while Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has assured legal action against those responsible.
05:25Meanwhile, DMK leader Udinadi Stalin has challenged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay
05:30to release the files and evidence behind his allegations against the DMK.
05:34Udinadi said that the DMK would not be intimidated by threats.
05:39Vijay has said he had three department files containing evidence
05:44that would release them at the appropriate time.
05:47Separately, the DMK has also rejected new cars provided to the MLAs.
05:54Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister Revan Threddy has cancelled his planned US visit
05:58after the centre did not grant permission for the trip,
06:01according to the Telangana government.
06:04Threddy will return from London to Hyderabad on the 23rd of August
06:07instead of travelling to Boston and New York.
06:10He has directed officials to continue with the planned US engagements
06:13and pursue MOUs with institutions including the Harvard, MIT,
06:17Northeastern University and Virginia Tech.
06:23Meanwhile, Delhi has recorded 159 fresh influenza cases on the 20th of August,
06:28including 114 H1N1 cases.
06:30The cumulative H1N1 tally in the capital has reached over 1,700,
06:35while the total influenza cases in 2026 stand at over 2,600.
06:40Union Health Ministry and the Minister there, J.P. Nada,
06:43has called a meeting of Delhi's health minister and senior health officials
06:46to review the rising cases.
06:48Authorities have advised masks in crowded places,
06:51hand hygiene and avoiding self-medication.
06:56India's women's hockey team have secured their place in the second round of the ongoing World Cup
07:02after holding England to a draw.
07:04It was a tense contest, right till the final whistle,
07:08with England repeatedly threatening the India goal.
07:10The biggest scare came in the final minute when the Indian goalkeeper produced a diving save
07:17to keep the ball out.
07:19The draw was enough to take India through.
07:21The challenge now gets tougher as India faces host Netherlands
07:24in their first, second round game before taking on Australia on Sunday.
07:39All right, it has now been four hours.
07:42Four hours since Rahul Gandhi has been on Dharna,
07:45outside the Parliament Street police station here in the national capital.
07:49Congress is now releasing video of what happened inside the police station as well.
07:53Rahul has demanded FIR in the alleged use of pellet gun case.
07:58And this video has just come out.
08:00So let's look into it.
08:28No complaint itself,
08:28let's take about all the offices like English and Englishes there.
08:30Denver basketball team has also claimed
08:30the same complaint,
08:31he told you the HRN jersey.
08:34You crack policy team has asked
08:41other pharmacies like the national Av Rainbow
09:00no no no he is requesting an individual for this bullet for the bullet engine okay very simple
09:09you are not doing it okay i'm telling you what's going to happen i will go outside i will sit
09:17there
09:17i will sit there one day two days three days five days ten days twenty days
09:38five days
10:01All right, so let's cut across straight to what's been happening on the ground.
10:04Like we said, four hours and counting in Rahul's Dharna 2.0 is playing out outside the Parliament Street police
10:10station.
10:11Let me cut across to my colleague Rahul Gautam, Aishwarya Paliwal and Srishti Oja as well.
10:17Rahul, if I can come to you first.
10:20Help us understand what was the latest trigger.
10:23How suddenly today Rahul Gandhi ended up at the police station.
10:28Was it a surprise protest like last time around?
10:38Absolutely, it was a surprise protest and it seemed that Rahul Gandhi and Congress had realized that, you know, we
10:45should stop news leakage and that's only created hype in media as well.
10:50And that's why we saw this morning Rahul Gandhi coming along with Sahil Lochap, who claims to be a pellet
10:57gun victim, all the way to the Parliament Street police station.
11:01Initially, first they went to Mandir Mark police station, but there they were turned away saying that the concerned DCP
11:06will take the call.
11:07They came here, met DCP and Rahul Gandhi insisted that an FIR should be filed on the complaint of Sahil
11:14Lochap.
11:14Now, given the fact that Delhi police had said or they have argued that there is already an SIT, you
11:21know, which has been constituted by the directions of Supreme Court, which there are multiple FIRs which are still pending.
11:27Therefore, this matter is subjured, yes, we cannot really register an FIR or separate FIR on our own.
11:33However, Rahul Gandhi said that, you know, that there is a medical legal certificate from Lady Harding Hospital on 14th
11:42of August also, this person, Sahil Lochap, had gone to police station to file the complaint.
11:46But again, he was turned away.
11:49So, therefore, he was left with no other option but to take, you know, political support.
11:53And that's why, and Sahil Lochap, remember, was the same person with which Rahul Gandhi also held a press conference
11:58at his presidency in Janpal.
12:00And, in fact, on that day, he showed injury, alleged injuries from the pallet gun.
12:05So, clearly, it seems that Rahul Gandhi is only increasing the heat and also bringing the whole narrative back on
12:12students' protest.
12:13Remember, for past few days, we've been hearing a controversy that we're brewing around Vande Mantra.
12:20It seems that Rahul Gandhi's Congress party is bringing the political narrative back on students' protest.
12:25And that's why, you see, this dharna is still continuing and they're saying that they'll not budge until an FIR
12:30is registered in this regard.
12:32All right.
12:33Aishwarya Paleywal is also with us.
12:34So, it's Srishti Oja.
12:36I'll come to Srishti in just a bit.
12:37But, Aishwarya, this is Rahul Gandhi's street fighter avatar, is it?
12:42I'm seeing off late more and more of these surprise protests come out.
12:46But, unlike the last time around where he landed up at the doorstep of the prime minister and you immediately
12:51had, you know, the senior ministers like J.P. Anadda, like Jitendra Singh, come to him and say that, you
12:57know, this is not the way, let's, like, talk about it.
12:59The issue is the same, right?
13:02The issue is the same, that he wants the government to take accountability on why action and the alleged pallet
13:09guns were used on students.
13:10That issue had first taken, been taken to the parliament, now it's landed up at the police station.
13:17How is the BJP responding to this?
13:20Well, you know, Sonal, you rightly pointed out, we are seeing a more aggressive, a street fighter avatar of Rahul
13:25Gandhi.
13:26And it seems like, Sonal, you know, he's quite starting to enjoy this because we are seeing how calm he
13:31is and he was all set, all ready to, in fact, sit on the floor.
13:34And let me also tell you, there are pictures coming out where one can very clearly see Rahul Gandhi with
13:38folded hands speaking with the constable who, in fact, had come out to speak with him.
13:43The Bhakti Janata Party, however, Sonal, let me tell you, says that this is all Canberra GV Rahul Gandhi.
13:48They are saying that when there is an investigation which is already taking place with regards to what had happened
13:54on the 20th of July, what is the need for Rahul Gandhi to do all this drama?
13:58Drama is the word, let me tell you, Sonal, that is now being used by the BJP to categorically say
14:04that this is being done by Rahul Gandhi because he only wants his pictures to be clicked.
14:08He is not doing it for the students. He, in fact, is not doing it for justice.
14:11So this is what the Bhakti Janata Party and the top leadership at the moment believes in.
14:15All right. Let me cut across to Srishti Ojai as well.
14:17Srishti, give me a sense of who all are there.
14:20Again, I'm trying to draw a parallel from the last time around the protests happened.
14:23We saw chief ministers there. We saw senior leaders of the Congress Party all turn up.
14:28Today, in the visuals at least, that we see Rahul Gandhi, we see Priyanka Gandhi-Wadra, we see a couple
14:33of lawyers who are trying to sort of talk to the police to get the FIA registered.
14:37Who else is there? Is it just purely a Congress protest or you see more galvanization happen?
14:48Well, Sonam, it's been almost five hours that Rahul Gandhi has been here outside the DCP office at the Parliament
14:55Street police station.
14:56Even now, in the morning, it started off with Rahul Gandhi coming here with the alleged pellet gun victim, Sahil,
15:03his mother, his lawyer.
15:06And eventually after that, once he decided to sit outside in a dharna after an FIA wasn't registered in this
15:13case,
15:13we saw senior Congress leaders also join in this particular, you know, dharna protest outside the DCP office.
15:21We saw many Congress workers raising slogans outside the police station in the morning after Rahul Gandhi was here.
15:31We eventually also saw them push through the gate, enter the police station.
15:35Right behind me, you can see the visuals, the crowd.
15:37They're still here chanting, raising slogans, etc.
15:41Now, coming back to the senior Congress leaders, we saw senior Congress leaders.
15:45Help me understand, what kind of slogans are you hearing?
15:49He's also sitting with Rahul Gandhi at the sit-in.
15:57Well, the Congress workers have been raising slogans all day, firstly saying that they're with Rahul Gandhi on this particular
16:06issue,
16:06that Rahul Gandhi should move forward with this particular, you know, complaint, with this particular thing,
16:12and they will support him as their leader.
16:15There are also slogans being raised against the central government, for the inaction, for the violence used against protesters.
16:21Now, these are the Congress workers who have come in to support their leader.
16:25When we spoke to senior leader Salman Khushi today morning, when he entered here at the police station,
16:31we asked him that an HPC has already been constituted by the Supreme Court in this case.
16:35Why this demand right now, one day after the order has come in, could this not have waited?
16:40This demand for an FIR, could it not have waited, because the Supreme Court thought it fit,
16:44instead of directing registration of an FIR straight up, the Supreme Court thought it fit for an expert committee,
16:50for a high-powered committee to probe into all the allegations first.
16:53Why not wait?
16:54He gave a very simple reply that as citizens, a person has a right to demand registration of an FIR,
16:59as long as there is a cognizable offence, an FIR should be registered.
17:02Their demands right now are very clear.
17:05Rahul Gandhi and the other Congress leaders will not leave unless and until an FIR in this case.
17:09This is registered.
17:10Delhi Police, as per our sources, has clearly told them that it's the crime branch which is,
17:16you know, handling or probing into the FIRs related to the protests.
17:20They have received the complaint filed by Sahil.
17:23They will transfer it to the crime branch.
17:26And also, they've told Rahul Gandhi that an HPC has been constituted which will be probing into the allegation.
17:31Now, he'll have to wait and watch to see how long would these Congress leaders continue to sit here.
17:36But, according to them, they will not get up unless and until an FIR is registered.
17:40All right.
17:41This is a really interesting scenario because, and I want viewers to understand this,
17:45this is right outside the Parliament Street police station.
17:48There is an entire battery of policemen inside.
17:53There are enough and more policemen to evacuate them if required.
17:57But they're choosing not to do that just yet.
18:00Rahul Gandhi, four hours and counting, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra,
18:05along with the victims of the pellet gun injuries,
18:07and a couple of lawyers are insisting that an FIR be registered.
18:12You're now getting live visuals.
18:14What you see right there in the center are live visuals.
18:16Rahul Gandhi comfortable in his chair and saying,
18:19I'm not going anywhere.
18:20I want this FIR registered.
18:22And what you see on the other side of your screen over there
18:26is on the right side of the screen really for you.
18:28Those are visuals from earlier when he was inside the police station.
18:32Remember, this is not the first stop for him.
18:33He first went to Mandir Mark where he was told that he has to go to a higher officer, DCP.
18:37The area DCP sits at the Parliament Street police station,
18:41and that's where Rahul Gandhi is at the moment.
18:44talking to people, talking to his consultants,
18:47talking to a couple of Gen Z also,
18:49from what I can see in those live visuals over there.
18:52So interesting to see which way this goes.
18:54Like I said, four hours and counting,
18:56Rahul Gandhi right at the doorstep of Delhi police, DCP.
19:01What happens next will be interesting to watch out for.
19:13And it's a trend now, right?
19:14Instant justice.
19:15You want something, you go there, you demand, you ask for it,
19:19you raise a dharna, you make a couple of reels, and there you go.
19:22And that is not how it started.
19:24At least the senior leaders now are taking a cue from it.
19:27It all started with the CJP, if you'll recall.
19:29And this time, it has got to do with CJP's,
19:32the Kokrojanta Party's School Thikaro campaign.
19:35We told you about this campaign that the Kokrojanta Party has started
19:38on the 15th of August,
19:40saying that they will be going to every school,
19:42inspecting on different counts,
19:44on what is the condition of that school,
19:47and then preparing a report card of sorts of what is exactly required.
19:51But once Ashutosh Ranka,
19:54one of the spokesperson and key members of the Kokrojanta Party,
19:57ended up in Jaipur, in fact, on the outskirts of Jaipur,
20:00at the Rampura, Kavarpura village,
20:03it turned out to be a very different story.
20:05So far, every school they had gone to,
20:07they were received with open arms,
20:09students were telling them about their complaints,
20:11teachers were talking to them as well.
20:12But in this particular school,
20:14as you see, as Ashutosh is walking in,
20:18you see protesters on the other side as well.
20:21Now, who are these protesters?
20:23That's the big story over here.
20:24Are they locals? Are they villagers?
20:27Are they BJP people?
20:28As CJP is now saying,
20:30we do not know,
20:31we do not have an independent, you know,
20:34clarification on that just yet.
20:36But what we do know is that there were clashes,
20:39clashes that included stone pelting.
20:41That means car shields were broken down.
20:45You saw those visuals over there,
20:46that car going away without the back,
20:49you know, glass over there.
20:51So the entire story took a very, very ugly turn.
20:54You see stones being pelted at the CJP delegation,
20:58which had reached there from the locals.
21:00I'm again highlighting who are these locals.
21:03We do not know.
21:04Their identity is not known just yet.
21:06The CJP is alleging that they are from the BJP.
21:10Now, this has meant that there was a series of exchange,
21:14and the video obviously went viral online.
21:16The sequence, if I can just remind that to you,
21:18began around 8 a.m.
21:19when CJP workers arrived at the Rampola village.
21:22At 8.30, villagers had gathered outside the government school,
21:25and a scuffle of sorts broke out between the two sides.
21:28It looked like everybody knew what was happening,
21:30because CJP was walking in with their cameras on.
21:32On the other side,
21:33you had the locals having their cameras on as well.
21:36So it was a situation that was waiting to happen.
21:40Then at around 10 a.m.,
21:41we have CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka arriving there,
21:44and the confrontation escalates with Ranka
21:47and his team now alleging that they were assaulted.
21:49The CJP team says that it had come to inspect
21:52the government primary school,
21:53like I told you about that campaign,
21:55and the school building is reportedly in a dilapidated condition.
21:59Children have been shifted out to the main structure,
22:01with classes being conducted in a buffalo shed.
22:04Again, not authenticated by us.
22:07This is something that the CJP is saying.
22:09Cutting back to CJP,
22:11CJP says that the inspection was aimed at documenting the condition
22:14and raising questions over the safety and infrastructure availability of the students.
22:19And then, that is where the political battle begins.
22:23BJP accusing that CJP,
22:26in fact, the CJP accusing that BJP workers were orchestrating the assault.
22:30It alleges that its volunteers were attacked.
22:33Ashutosh Ranka was roughed up,
22:34and that violence had a political motive.
22:37Ranka has also alleged that the attack happened
22:39at the behest of Rajasthan Education Minister,
22:42and questioned why the police allowed the confrontation to even unfold.
22:47Now, these are serious allegations,
22:49and the responsibility for establishing the facts
22:52lies with the investigators in this case.
22:55At the moment, there stands to be,
22:58this is the only information that one can say at this point.
23:02What we do know at this point is that their stand is blunt.
23:09They do not want outsiders entering the village.
23:12That's coming in from the villagers and disrupting local atmosphere.
23:15They also say that the school issue will be resolved locally,
23:18and they claim about 12 lakh 50,000 rupees
23:21has already been sanctioned by the village to maintain that place.
23:39All right.
23:40For the moment, let's take a break from what's happening right now
23:42and cut across to my colleague, Gaurav Sawant,
23:44who's got a special guest for you.
23:52Sir Rahul Gandhi has taken a pellet gun victim
23:55to the Parliament Street Police Station,
23:57demanding an FIR be registered.
24:00We're waiting for an FIR to be registered.
24:03This is now politics between the government and the opposition.
24:07And joining me now is Smriti Irani,
24:10National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party,
24:13also former Union Cabinet Minister,
24:16former Minister for Education, Smriti Rani.
24:18Welcome.
24:19Rahul Gandhi is at the police station.
24:22He's demanding an FIR.
24:23Leader of opposition demanding an FIR
24:25because the pellet gun victim says
24:27twice he went, FIR wasn't registered.
24:31An FIR is a right.
24:32Why is that not being registered, ma'am?
24:34The Congress asks.
24:36Gaurav, you're a seasoned journalist
24:37and you know that an investigation is already underway.
24:40You're a seasoned journalist
24:41and you know that the police has already received
24:44and accepted the complaint.
24:45You're a seasoned journalist
24:46who knows that the Supreme Court
24:48has opined on the issue
24:49and ordered a probe.
24:51Now, in the absence of a political shield
24:56that will stem the outrage
24:58that erupted from the Vande Matram controversy,
25:01Rahul Gandhi thought that this is the definite moment
25:04where he could use this political stunt
25:06because if he truly believed
25:08in the pursuit of justice, Mr. Savan,
25:10he would not be chucking toffees
25:11as he sat outside the police station
25:13at people who have surrounded him.
25:16He would not be giggling, heckling.
25:18He would be absolutely serious
25:20to demand justice not only for citizens
25:22but also paramilitary personnel
25:24and police force personnel
25:26who were beaten and injured.
25:28Have you heard the leader of opposition once
25:30asked for an investigation
25:33into the attack on uniformed personnel?
25:35But the pursuit of justice in this case
25:38cannot be complete
25:39if we don't stand up for uniformed personnel as well.
25:42Has the leader of opposition
25:44spoken once
25:47about men and women in uniform
25:49who were attacked?
25:52Okay, I'll come to men and women in uniform
25:55who were attacked
25:55because this is something
25:56that those who say
25:58that the security forces
26:00or the police targeted protesters,
26:02they do not even seem to acknowledge
26:04this aspect
26:05and that's a very important point to raise.
26:07But the point Rahul Gandhi is raising
26:10or the opposition is raising
26:11is that the government
26:13is not even serious
26:14about addressing the concerns
26:16they have raised.
26:16The government is not serious
26:17to get an investigation be underway?
26:19The home minister hasn't responded
26:21Rahul Gandhi asked
26:22neither in parliament nor out of it.
26:25No, the home minister
26:26that is wrong.
26:26The home minister
26:27has very vehemently
26:28stood in parliament from ISIS
26:31said he's ready for a discussion.
26:32It is a congress
26:33that did not accept that
26:35stand of the home minister.
26:37The home minister in fact
26:39appealed publicly
26:40that the congress party
26:42come and speak to him
26:43on the floor of the house.
26:44That he's willing to hear
26:45every statement
26:46every position taken by the opposition
26:48so that he can give
26:50the facts with regards
26:51to this particular issue.
26:52It is the congress party
26:54that did not want
26:55to have a conversation
26:56or a dialogue
26:57or a debate
26:58or a deliberation
26:59on this issue
27:00in the Indian parliament.
27:01The home minister
27:02never shied away.
27:03The government
27:04never shied away.
27:05The government repeatedly
27:06during the parliamentary session
27:08that was underway
27:10just a few days ago
27:12emphatically stated
27:13that let the congress
27:14have a discussion
27:15on the floor of the house
27:16on any issue
27:16that it deems fit.
27:17It did not want
27:19a discussion.
27:19It wanted a disruption.
27:21Okay.
27:22Today what Rawan Gandhi
27:23is doing
27:26is deviating attention
27:27from the Vande Matram row.
27:29I will come to
27:30the Vande Matram controversy
27:31and that's a very serious
27:33point once again.
27:34You know,
27:35the congress says
27:35they will sing
27:36only two stanzas.
27:37The government insists...
27:38Who is the congress
27:39to decide
27:40when the parliament
27:41has opined on the issue?
27:44Who is the congress
27:45to decide
27:45when in the
27:46constituent assembly
27:47in 1950
27:48Rajendra Palsarji
27:49says
27:49that Vande Matram
27:50is to be given
27:51the same respect
27:52as Jana Gana Mana?
27:55But then
27:56if there is a perception...
27:57Are you telling me
27:58that once the parliament
27:59of India
28:00opines on a particular issue
28:01and legislates on it,
28:02Sonia Gandhi
28:03has the unique right
28:04in this country
28:05to throw that legislation
28:07in the dustbin of time?
28:10And what did they
28:12dissuade people
28:13from singing
28:13in the congress headquarters?
28:15What are those stanzas
28:16pertaining to Mr. Saman?
28:18Those stanzas say
28:20we look at Mahabharti
28:21as a source of knowledge.
28:23Does Sonia Gandhi deny that?
28:25We look at Mahabharti
28:26as something
28:27that we keep
28:28devotedly in our hearts.
28:30We look at Mahabharti
28:32as a manifestation
28:33of our Rashtradharm.
28:35We look at Mahabharti
28:37as a source of strength.
28:38We look at Mahabharti
28:40as a nourisher
28:40of our children.
28:42We look at Mahabharti
28:44as we look upon
28:45Mahabhagwati
28:46bearing
28:47ten arms
28:48in her ten hands.
28:49We look at Mahabhagwati
28:51as a source
28:52of Samridhi
28:53like Mahalakshmi.
28:54So what is it
28:55that Mrs. Gandhi
28:56has a problem with
28:57Mahabharti
28:58or Goddess Durga?
29:00What is it
29:00that the Congress Party
29:01has a problem with
29:02Mahabharti
29:03or Goddess Lakshmi?
29:04What is it
29:05that the Congress Party
29:06has a problem with
29:06Mahabharti
29:08or Goddess Saraswati?
29:09What is it
29:09that the Congress Party
29:10has a problem with
29:11Mahabharti
29:12being a source
29:12of knowledge
29:13or power?
29:14Or that it may be
29:15in conflict
29:16with religion
29:17perhaps of some
29:19Indians,
29:20some people.
29:21How is it
29:22that the first
29:22two stanzas
29:23are not in conflict
29:24with anybody?
29:26When we say
29:26Vande Mataram,
29:28salutations to the mother.
29:31Those who were
29:32against Vande Mataram
29:33and wanted to walk
29:34the path of Jinnah
29:35left and created
29:36Pakistan.
29:37Those who stayed
29:38back knew
29:39Vande Mataram
29:39is a war cry
29:41for independence
29:42by Indians
29:43who did not all
29:44belong to the
29:44Congress Party.
29:45Even the Gandhi
29:46family did not
29:47belong to the
29:47Congress Party.
29:48They usurped the
29:49Congress Party
29:50under their
29:51titleage.
29:53So how can they
29:54claim today that
29:55they have the
29:55rights to our
29:56national song?
29:57So if a decision
29:58was taken in
29:591937, the
30:00Congress asks
30:00to sing only
30:01two stanzas.
30:02You know how
30:03many decisions
30:03the Congress
30:04Party took
30:04under Nehru's
30:06leadership?
30:07Muhammad Ali
30:07Jinnah put
30:09forth 14 points
30:10for Nehru to
30:10consider.
30:11There is a
30:11communication
30:11correspondence
30:12between Nehru
30:13and Jinnah
30:13which I think
30:15if you can look
30:15at the records
30:16from the Nehru
30:16archives between
30:171937 and 1939
30:19in 1938,
30:20Nehru writes
30:21to Jinnah
30:21saying in
30:22point number
30:22seven, you
30:23want cow
30:24slaughter.
30:24As a response
30:25to it, Nehru
30:26accedes to that
30:27demand.
30:28Is Sonia Gandhi
30:29today of the
30:29opinion that
30:30cow slaughter
30:30should be
30:31legitimized in
30:32this country?
30:33Can she say
30:33this from the
30:34Congress
30:34headquarters?
30:36Can she?
30:38That's Nehru's
30:39stand.
30:41In 1923 in
30:42Kakinala, there
30:43was a session
30:44where Siddhar
30:45Patel was in
30:45the session
30:46where Jinnah
30:46called for
30:47Vande Matram
30:48not to be
30:48sand.
30:50A Marathi
30:51singer got
30:51up and spoke
30:54up against
30:54Jinnah and
30:54said this is
30:55a national
30:56platform, not
30:57a platform of
30:58a particular
30:58religion.
30:59And Vande
31:00Matram shall
31:00be sung.
31:01Is Congress
31:01of the opinion
31:02that that
31:03one Marathi
31:04soul singer
31:04had the
31:05courage that
31:05Nehru did
31:06not to
31:07stand up
31:07against
31:08Jinnah?
31:08Who
31:09had to go
31:09with Jinnah
31:09to Pakistan.
31:12What will
31:18what will
31:18the government
31:19do if
31:20the Congress
31:20continues to
31:21stick to
31:22that CWC
31:22decision and
31:23say we'll
31:24only sing
31:24two stanzas?
31:25Is that in
31:26violation of the
31:26law?
31:27has shown
31:28two things
31:28Mrs.
31:29Avanth.
31:29One, a
31:30complete
31:30disregard for
31:31national
31:32sentiment.
31:33Two, a
31:33complete
31:34disregard for
31:36the sentiments
31:36of Hindus.
31:37Has the
31:38Congress
31:38Party ever
31:39insulted any
31:40other religion
31:41except
31:42Hinduism?
31:44in the
31:44national
31:45headquarters of
31:45the Congress
31:46Party.
31:47Those people
31:47who are
31:48calling the
31:48Bhagavati
31:49and the
31:50laxmi
31:50and the
31:52saraswati
31:52and the
31:53saraswati
31:54name.
31:56Okay.
31:57Ma'am, even
31:58as we speak
31:59the Delhi
31:59police, they
32:00have registered
32:01an FIR.
32:02But if you
32:03see 14th when
32:04that victim
32:05went, FIR
32:06was not
32:06registered.
32:0717th it
32:07was not
32:08registered.
32:09Now when
32:09leader of
32:10opposition goes
32:10with the
32:11victim to the
32:11police station,
32:13the Delhi
32:13police have
32:14registered an
32:15FIR.
32:16The point
32:17that is being
32:18raised is
32:18street forces
32:20the government
32:22to act
32:23I have no
32:24access to
32:24the FIR.
32:26But the
32:27one thing you
32:27can confirm
32:28Mr. Savant
32:29for me is
32:29this.
32:30Has Rahul
32:31Gandhi filed
32:32a separate
32:32FIR to
32:33investigate who
32:35beat up
32:35paramilitary and
32:36Delhi police?
32:38Can you
32:38please confirm
32:39to me whether
32:40Rahul Gandhi
32:41since he
32:41seated there
32:42at that
32:42very police
32:43station, has
32:44he filed
32:45an FIR as
32:45an individual
32:46citizen to
32:46say I
32:47am outraged
32:48that somebody
32:49at Jantar
32:50Mantar hit
32:51Delhi police,
32:52hit paramilitary
32:53forces?
32:54Has Rahul
32:55Gandhi filed
32:56an FIR separately
32:57to say
32:57investigate such
32:58people and
32:59throw the
33:00book of law
33:00at them?
33:03Can you
33:04confirm for
33:05me Mr.
33:05Savant?
33:06Has Rahul
33:06Gandhi filed
33:07such an
33:07FIR?
33:09That's a
33:10pertinent
33:10point.
33:11If he is
33:13indeed pursuing
33:14justice, can
33:15he pursue
33:16justice
33:16piecemeal?
33:19The BJP is
33:20accusing him,
33:21party leaders
33:22have accused
33:22him of being
33:23a camera TV.
33:24the fact that
33:25before Rahul
33:26Gandhi got
33:27there today,
33:28an investigation
33:29was also
33:30already underway.
33:32Can that be
33:33denied?
33:35Yes, an
33:36investigation was
33:37underway.
33:37Can an
33:38investigation be
33:39underway, Mr.
33:40Savant?
33:40You've been a
33:41journalist long
33:42enough to
33:42today.
33:43Confirm this to
33:44the viewers.
33:44Can an
33:45investigation be
33:46underway if the
33:47government or
33:48agency do not
33:49take cognizance of
33:50complaints?
33:53Can it?
33:54No, a
33:55complaint has to
33:55be filed and
33:57a cognizance
33:57taken.
33:59There is a
34:00cognizance of a
34:01particular complaint,
34:02verbal or written.
34:03Hence, an
34:04investigation is
34:05underway.
34:06So, can Rahul
34:07Gandhi today
34:08politically claim
34:08that he went
34:09and hence
34:10investigation ensued?
34:11No.
34:11Because if the
34:12purpose of an
34:13FIR or a
34:14complaint is
34:14investigation ensues,
34:16is transparently
34:17done and
34:18evidence presented,
34:19then did the
34:20government or
34:21the agency
34:21concerned fulfill
34:22its legal
34:23obligation to
34:23the state and
34:25its citizens?
34:26Yes.
34:28But my
34:29question as a
34:30citizen again of
34:31the leader of
34:31opposition is this.
34:32You want to
34:33pursue justice,
34:34can I please see
34:35your FIR to
34:36investigate who
34:38gave slogans
34:39against the
34:39Indian army?
34:41Can I please
34:42see Rahul
34:43Gandhi's FIR on
34:44who hit Delhi
34:45police personnel?
34:46Can I please
34:47see Rahul Gandhi's
34:48FIR on who hit
34:50paramilitary forces?
34:52But that FIR
34:54already is being
34:55investigated.
34:57That investigation
34:57is already underway.
34:59So, was this
34:59so-called
35:00incident?
35:01Okay, but the
35:03core of this
35:04issue was a
35:06paper leak.
35:07A paper leak.
35:08Ma'am, you've
35:09been a union
35:10minister and you've
35:11been minister for
35:12education and I
35:14know you were
35:15making efforts and
35:16an effort was being
35:17made to have a
35:18structure where paper
35:19leaks would not
35:20happen and yet
35:20paper leaks continue
35:22to happen.
35:23Isn't that a major
35:24issue where the
35:25government...
35:25It is an issue
35:26with the prime
35:26minister's addressed?
35:28Do you accept it?
35:30Yes, he called it
35:31SIN.
35:31It is an issue
35:33addressed not only
35:34by making up the
35:35task force but also
35:36legislatively by
35:37bringing a new bill.
35:38Do you accept?
35:40I've been education
35:41minister from 2014-15.
35:44I've had the
35:45privilege under the
35:46prime minister's
35:46direction of creating
35:47the new education
35:48policy consultation
35:50across the country.
35:52I wrote to every
35:53parliamentarian which
35:54included Rahul Gandhi.
35:56In my two years as
35:57minister of education
35:58Mr. Gandhi never
35:58came up and offered
35:59any productive
36:01suggestions to say
36:02let's sit together
36:03and see how can we
36:04better the system.
36:05Today the prime
36:06minister creates a
36:07task force which
36:08includes somebody who
36:09fought an election
36:10against him in 2014
36:11on a congress ticket
36:12but the congress
36:13party does not
36:14accept that the
36:14prime minister is not
36:15being myopic.
36:16He has assimilated
36:18every point of view
36:19into that task force.
36:20Can we say the same
36:21about the leader of
36:22opposition?
36:23I have had the
36:24privilege of serving
36:25as member of
36:25parliament from
36:26Amiti.
36:27The same place
36:28where Rahul Gandhi
36:28was also an MP
36:29from.
36:30This is a
36:31constituency where
36:32we've had two
36:34prime ministers and
36:35Rahul Gandhi was
36:35the sitting president
36:36of the Indian
36:37National Congress.
36:38In that time when
36:39I got the
36:40responsibility we
36:42had children
36:43sitting on the
36:43floor without a
36:45bench or a
36:46chair in a
36:47constituency where
36:48the Gandhi
36:48Khandan ruled for
36:49over 60 years.
36:51So I can also
36:53point your
36:54attention to a
36:55land taken by
36:57the Gandhi
36:58family saying
36:59we will open up
37:00a medical college
37:01here, land which
37:02belongs to the
37:03people of this
37:03country and
37:05they have also
37:06ensured that
37:07they've built a
37:08private residence
37:09guest house to the
37:11Gandhi family, not
37:12the medical college.
37:13Who's building that
37:13medical college?
37:14The Modi government.
37:16So if I have to
37:17productively evidence
37:18who has contributed
37:20towards making
37:21systems robust, there's
37:22only one person I
37:24can evidence it
37:25with, that is the
37:26Modi government.
37:28Education is an
37:29issue where we
37:30help build the
37:31future of our
37:31country.
37:32Could Mr. Gandhi
37:33have not found the
37:34time or the
37:35inclination to
37:36collaborate on this
37:37issue?
37:38Did you see him
37:39productively give
37:41inputs on the bill
37:42that was discussed
37:43in parliament?
37:44Did you see him
37:45approach the task
37:46force that the
37:47prime minister has
37:48set up to say
37:49this is my
37:49contribution to how
37:50to make the
37:51systems technologically
37:52more robust?
37:54No.
37:56So has the leader
37:57of opposition
37:58conducted himself
37:59responsibly when it
38:00came to issues of
38:01policy and fixing
38:02the system and
38:03making it more
38:04robust?
38:05But you do
38:06concede that the
38:07system needs fixing
38:08and especially the
38:10leaders.
38:10Did you see people
38:11under whose regime
38:13paper leaks took
38:14place sitting next
38:15to those people
38:16in Jantar Mantar?
38:20Did you see Mr.
38:21Gandhi go and
38:22give a dhana outside
38:23the CM Jharkhand's
38:24residence so that
38:25he can be picked up
38:26for a photo op?
38:28Did you see Mr.
38:29Rahul Gandhi take
38:30away support from
38:31the Jharkhand
38:31government?
38:34Did you see Mr.
38:36Gandhi go to
38:37Karnataka?
38:37Did you see Mr.
38:38Gandhi raise the
38:39issue of paper leak
38:40in Kerala?
38:44So for you,
38:45you're saying that
38:45all that he's doing
38:46is for the camera?
38:48I am not saying
38:48it.
38:49He's doing it.
38:52Okay.
38:53Let me for a
38:54moment now switch
38:55focus to Vande
38:57Matram and you
38:58did raise that
38:59issue.
38:59Vande Matram,
39:01why is it important
39:02whether only two
39:03stanzas are sung
39:04or six?
39:05Isn't the more
39:06important issue
39:07that there is
39:08peace in the
39:09country, there is
39:10peace and that
39:10nobody feels that
39:12they are being
39:12discriminated against
39:13is the point that
39:15the opposition has
39:16raised.
39:16My issue is are
39:17you telling me if
39:19I pay salutations
39:21to my motherland
39:22there will be
39:22disturbance?
39:24Are you telling
39:25me there will be
39:26political disturbance
39:27and issues of
39:29law and order if
39:30I say I look
39:31upon my motherland
39:32as a source of
39:33knowledge?
39:35Are you telling
39:36me there will be
39:36a particular
39:38subsection of
39:39the congress
39:39vote bank that
39:40will be very
39:41displeased if I
39:42say I look upon
39:43my motherland as
39:45I would look upon
39:46my bhagwati?
39:47They are saying
39:48it's in direct
39:50it's against their
39:51religion.
39:52In 1937 that is
39:54what the resolution
39:55also seemed to
39:56indicate is the
39:57congress point of
39:58view.
39:58What is the
39:59congress resolution?
40:00There is a
40:02complete written
40:03record of Nehru
40:04saying that the
40:06position taken by
40:07Mohammed Ali
40:07Jinnah is
40:08communal.
40:09There is a
40:10particular statement
40:11of the same kind
40:12given by Subhash
40:13Chandra Bose.
40:15There is the
40:161923 Kaki Nara
40:18session.
40:19But if you are
40:20cherry picking from
40:21your part of
40:22history then is
40:24the congress of
40:25the opinion that
40:26whatever Nehru says
40:27is sacrosigned for
40:28them.
40:29Then Jinnah also
40:30wanted slaughter of
40:31cows.
40:32Will the congress
40:33have the capacity
40:34the audacity to
40:36say that from
40:36their headquarters
40:37today?
40:40Okay.
40:41Are you telling
40:43me if I pray to
40:44my God there will
40:45be a disturbance?
40:47That means in this
40:48country freedom to
40:50profess, preach,
40:52practice your
40:52religion is the
40:54only freedom that
40:54will be denied to
40:55Hindus?
40:57At the state level
40:59I mean you know
40:59if at government
41:01level was the
41:02congress party
41:02headquarter a
41:03state organization?
41:04No, at state
41:06level is the point
41:07that they raise.
41:07But you know
41:08since you were
41:10education minister
41:11and I am sorry
41:11and I am digressing
41:12once again from
41:14the one day
41:15matter of issue
41:15coming back to
41:16the issue of
41:17paper leaks and
41:19unrest that is
41:20taking place in
41:21different parts of
41:22the country.
41:22When you were
41:23education minister
41:24there was unrest
41:25in one part after
41:28a particular suicide.
41:29do you see a
41:31trend that is
41:32building up of
41:34protests on the
41:35street to take on
41:36the government?
41:38No government
41:39has ever been
41:40devoid of a
41:41protest or a
41:41pushback in the
41:43history of
41:43democracy.
41:45The question
41:46before us is do
41:47people in government
41:48respond productively
41:50to outrage?
41:52Did the prime
41:53minister of our
41:54country in a
41:55country where people
41:56say I have a
41:579 to 5 job and
41:58after 5 I would
41:59be available the
42:00next day in such
42:01a country as a
42:02professional, as a
42:03politician, as an
42:04administrator was the
42:05prime minister of our
42:06country available at
42:0812 midnight to
42:09converse with our
42:10citizens?
42:10he was.
42:13Was that panic as the
42:15opposition puts it?
42:17Pay your pardon?
42:18Was that panic as the
42:19opposition puts it?
42:20Panic that Gen Z are
42:22getting angry or they're
42:24not listening?
42:25How old are you Mr.
42:25Savan?
42:25Reach out directly.
42:26How old are you Mr.
42:27Savan?
42:29My apologies for asking
42:30you this.
42:31How old are you?
42:31No I am 52.
42:32I am 50.
42:33Are you telling me that
42:35you and I as citizens are
42:36redundant because we are
42:37not 30 years old?
42:39No.
42:39In this country we've
42:41had divisions which are
42:42layered in the name of
42:43religion, region, caste,
42:45subsections.
42:46Are we dangerously adding
42:48a new ageist silo?
42:50Are we telling people in
42:51this country that if you
42:53are not below the age of
42:5329 and don't form a
42:56bracket which is
42:58internationally proclaimed
42:59then you will not be
43:00relevant as a citizen?
43:0364 crore Indians went to
43:05vote Mr. Savan in 2024.
43:08We all did not vote for the
43:09same party.
43:10We all did not vote for the
43:12same person.
43:12We all do not follow the
43:14same political ideology.
43:15But we all believe in our
43:17institutions and that's why
43:18we come out to vote.
43:20We know that our system is
43:22evolving.
43:23We know we have challenges
43:25but we also know that as a
43:26country we are committed to
43:28following solutions.
43:31today I will quote the CM
43:34Mr. Abdullah who said that
43:37this is a new nomenclature
43:38which basically makes you
43:40remember the old adage that
43:42I don't know who my father is.
43:43Those who screamed at the
43:46crossroads where there was
43:48troop movement to say I am
43:50Gen Z and I am paying taxes.
43:52They should go back and scream
43:53and see what the family of a
43:56fallen soldier says.
43:57That family will say I will
44:00give you the tax and do my
44:02son back.
44:04True.
44:06As Mr. Rahul Gandhi admonished
44:10such a person.
44:13We all have our politics to
44:15fight.
44:16But our politics cannot be
44:18greater than our country.
44:20We all will indulge in
44:22political skirmishes.
44:24We will all indulge in
44:26political battles, debates.
44:28But nothing overrides the
44:30sentiment for our country.
44:32Did the leader of
44:32opposition, Omar Abdullah made
44:35a statement, but did the
44:36leader of opposition step up
44:37and say you cannot shout down
44:41at an armed force personnel
44:43and say my tax burden because
44:45I am Gen Z.
44:47They are Gen Z who serve in
44:48the Indian armed forces.
44:49They are Gen Z's who serve in
44:52the front line as health
44:53workers.
44:53They are Gen Z's who are
44:54engineers.
44:55They are Gen Z's who are
44:56technologists.
44:57They are Gen Z's who are
44:58even in Delhi police who are
45:00getting beaten up.
45:01Yes.
45:02Did Rahul Gandhi speak up for
45:03those Gen Z's?
45:06So let's stop dividing people
45:08now.
45:09Yes.
45:09On the basis of age, every Indian
45:12irrespective of region, religion,
45:14caste and age is relevant.
45:16And every Indian institution
45:18demands and deserves respect,
45:22which includes the parliament
45:23that mandated the full rendition
45:26of Vande Matara.
45:28Spreeti Rani for joining me here on
45:30this India Today special broadcast.
45:32Many thanks.
45:41All right.
45:42Let's cut across to some more
45:43updates coming in from that
45:44Dharna Rahul Gandhi has been
45:45sitting on outside the
45:47Parliament Street Police Station.
45:48Delhi Police is now registered in
45:50FIR regarding the pellet gun
45:52incident.
45:53So after four hours, a little
45:55more than four hours, in fact,
45:57of Rahul Gandhi being there
45:58outside the Parliament Street
45:59Police Station, we now have the
46:00FIR, which has been registered.
46:03Randeep Surjewala, Priyanka Gandhi
46:05currently at the DCP's office,
46:07we are told.
46:08The FIR is based on the
46:09complaint filed by Sahil.
46:10It is registered against an
46:12unknown person at the moment,
46:14while no specific name will
46:16appear in the accused column
46:18just yet.
46:19So FIR against unknown person
46:22filed by the pellet gun
46:24victim, Rahul.
46:26Let's cut across to the other
46:27Rahul in this case, not Gandhi
46:28I'm talking about.
46:29I'm talking about my colleague
46:30Rahul Gautam, who's been
46:32bringing us up to speed with
46:33everything else that's been
46:34happening.
46:35Rahul, I see you outside the
46:36Parliament Street Police Station
46:37now.
46:37Tell us what next?
46:39FIR has been registered.
46:40Where are the leaders now?
46:53Rahul, if you can hear me, now
46:55that the FIR has been registered,
46:57what's happening there?
47:08Well, obviously Congress will now
47:10claim victory and I would go
47:12around to say that they have
47:13bent the government on this
47:15issue.
47:16Remember, you know, it's now
47:18close to five hours since Rahul
47:20Gandhi sitting here at the DCP
47:23office of Parliament Street Police
47:24Station and not just Rahul Gandhi.
47:26In fact, there were Prinka Gandhi
47:28Watra, Jairam Ramesh, Kumali
47:30Shailja, all the other senior leaders
47:32inside the very premise of
47:35Parliament Street Police Station.
47:37And outside there were scores of
47:39Congress workers.
47:40Expect, because of the fact that
47:41Congress Party has been insisting
47:43that an FIR should be filed in this
47:45regard, then only they'll be leaving
47:47the place.
47:48Otherwise, Congress is not going to
47:49budge from their stance.
47:51And that's why I expect that now,
47:53given the fact that an FIR has been
47:55registered against unknown person
47:57on the basis of the complaint of
47:59Sahil Lochab, expect that this is
48:01going to be a breakthrough or some
48:03sort of a truce.
48:04And in all likelihood, Rahul Gandhi
48:06will be vacating this place.
48:09But one thing is very important here
48:10that Congress will now go, you know,
48:13go forward and create a narrative
48:15that they have, in a way, the
48:18government has succumbed to their
48:19pressure.
48:20It was Rahul Gandhi who's leading the
48:21charge at the very forefront as far
48:24as student causes concern.
48:26And remember, you know, it was a
48:29great optics on the part of the
48:30Congress Party.
48:31Many in the party believe.
48:32Why?
48:32Because Rahul Gandhi got Sahil Lochab
48:36earlier also on 14th, you know, on
48:3924th of July.
48:40And in fact, on 14th of August, he
48:41went on to a police station to get
48:44this FIR registered when he is
48:47claiming that he was refused to get
48:49his FIR registered, then only he
48:52tried to get political support from
48:54Rahul Gandhi, which Rahul Gandhi
48:56readily offered and came all the
48:58way to the Parliament Street Police
49:01Station to get this FIR registered.
49:03And now after five hours, since if
49:05Rahul Gandhi would be leaving from
49:07this device, it's not going to be
49:07could you also take us through some
49:09visuals there, just trying to
49:10understand what's happening to the
49:12protest as we speak?
49:14Is Rahul Gandhi still there?
49:15Is he leaving?
49:17What exactly is he going to make a
49:19statement?
49:20What's happening next?
49:31Well, I'll just show you actually what
49:33is happening on the ground zero.
49:34I'll ask my camera person to just
49:36pan the camera around, show you
49:39about the activities that are going
49:41here.
49:42Rahul Gandhi, you can see, is still
49:43waiting here for the copy of FIR.
49:46As we speak, we've been informed that
49:49Brandeep Singh Surjewala and Priyanka
49:52Gandhi Wadra, they are getting this,
49:56you know, the entire process done
49:58because obviously they've been
49:59demanding this for past five hours.
50:02Earlier, the Delhi police refused to
50:04do so, saying that there's already an
50:06SIT which has been constituted at the
50:10directions of Supreme Court and
50:11therefore they can't really do much
50:12and can't really file a separate FIR.
50:15But Rahul Gandhi was, now you just see
50:17the, these are the visuals of the
50:19Parliament Street road and you can see
50:22there are scores of Congress workers
50:23because of the fact that gates are
50:25closed, nobody is allowed to enter into
50:28the premise but still the Congress
50:30workers are holding the ground just
50:32outside the office, DCP office and it
50:36was quite unprecedented given the fact
50:38that LOP Lok Sabha coming all the way to
50:41a DCP office, holding a dharna and
50:44Congress is saying that this also shows
50:46this, how situation is so grim in the
50:49country that LOP had to come only to get
50:51an FIR registered which many of them are
50:54saying has been a norm in the country
50:56like zero FIRs, the very complaint that
51:00you give actually get, you know,
51:03transformed into an FIR but here in this
51:05case they were not able to do so and
51:08that's why Rahul Gandhi himself intervened,
51:10ensured that the FIR get registered and
51:13expect that now Congress would claim
51:15victory and also vindication of their,
51:17their leader that's Rahul Gandhi saying
51:19that he is the one who has now emerged
51:22as, as one of the most popular leaders of
51:25youth and Gen Z and that's why he's
51:26taking up their cause.
51:29All right, that's interesting visuals there
51:31that Rahul Gautam is showing us inside you
51:33have the, you have the Congress leadership and
51:35outside you have Congress workers who have
51:38reached as well. Rahul Gandhi five hours and
51:41counting has managed to get the FIR registered a
51:44very Gen Z style of protest that he has
51:46conducted and at the moment it looks like
51:49he's had his way the Delhi police has given
51:51in to register that FIR.
