00:06in practice and and was not limited in terms of his practice this is this is better than good
00:13news this is great news and hopefully he continues that way um because this is an organization
00:19that when he got hurt and and the question was asked of dan campbell the head coach is it going
00:27to carry into the regular season and he was exasperated i don't know dave because he was
00:34talking to dave burkett and we yeah there were two things about that one was that he thinks it's
00:42possible but then we started speculation maybe he's just had enough of burkett's bs and now that
00:49we see that he's back well before the regular season i think we can conclude that indeed when
00:56dan campbell said that he's had enough of dave's bs that's all this is just put burkett in this
01:05place yeah i understand had enough of you burkett well look that's great news to hear that he was
01:10back at practice uh well i'd love to hear how today's practice went they got another scrimmage
01:14going today uh i can't imagine he's gonna be playing on saturday can't imagine gonna be any
01:21starters really playing on saturday but um it sounds like he's on track to to play in in the
01:28regular season opener that's that's what matters yep um and the other thing is ben barch is back
01:33and he was a concussion protocol and he wasn't limited yesterday in practice either again these
01:38are situations we're going to monitor but bottom line here is you know the the depth on the offensive
01:44line was called into question after the second preseason game and jackson meeks kind of got featured
01:51he got six targets and 26 snaps i think it was um but you know petzing really used a tight
01:58end a lot
01:58in arizona and it might have been because of quarterback limitations or that's all he had
02:02uh and he's got a lot more weapons here but six and three with laporta three and five without him
02:08last
02:08year we all know how good this guy is yeah and jerk off trust him he does he does and
02:14you know
02:15laporta and brock bright i think a pretty good one-two combo of tight ends but if you lose
02:21laporta then that all of a sudden things change and and because brock right is not known as your
02:26prototypical pass catching tight end uh and then you get that you would go to uh conklin as the as
02:33the
02:33other tight end um who's been a veteran this league and has had some nice seasons but not so much
02:40last
02:41year didn't do much last year he's a depth guy and you don't want to have to test the depth
02:45at every
02:46position group no you don't start the season and it feels like here we are again we might be testing
02:51some of that and miles fraser i don't think he practiced yesterday uh hopefully that doesn't it
02:56doesn't sound like it's anything too serious um that's a depth guy that they're really counting on
03:00for that offensive line because he can play four positions on that offensive line everything but
03:05center um we'll see if he if he plays on saturday night as well okay there is a detroit line

03:11dependent as a starter and nobody talks about him at all and he's created no buzz he is in everybody's
03:2453 man projection he's listed as a starter and it's at a position that we do talk about all the
03:32time
03:33that the listeners talk about all the time and yet this is the guy who is looked at as the
03:39as the
03:39starter i don't think we've gotten one call from one listener once ever to even talk about this guy
03:46i don't think we've ever done any deep dive on him i think his name has been mentioned as like

03:52he's a roster spot guy but we've never talked about the attributes of him as a player

04:20him as the starter tyler lacy is projected to be the starter at the opposite end of aiden hudginson
04:27the position everybody talks about who's gonna be the other rush other edge rusher who are they
04:32gonna get well dj want him a defense talk about tj people talk about tj want him talk about we'll
04:39talk about derrick moore about derrick moore second round draft pick okay okay got a lot a lot of buzz
04:43there he had what 10 sacks in michigan last year let's see what he can do let's show it up

04:47well in the preseason game the other day but it's tyler lacy dude he gets less talk than ahmed
04:53hassaneen yes if you listed these guys these four edge rushers opposite a hutch and were to rank them
05:03in order of mentions lacy finishes dead last by a wide margin by a mile what are we missing because
05:13you know what he's got in his career do you know how many career sacks he has i two one
05:19he's got one
05:21career sack half as many as i thought i i i i again what are we missing well here's what
05:31we're
05:31missing i think it's when you talk about starting defensive end yep first down and 10 he's out there
05:38because is he a big end is he a guy that's going to be there to stop the run and
05:42that's what they
05:42look at because tyleek williams and alim mcneil are the other guys in the defensive line uh that that's
05:48what's going to happen then they get to pass situations off comes lacy on comes want them or
05:53or more i mean it's it's a rotational thing with that defensive line and specifically with that other
05:58uh defensive end position opposite hutch he was claimed off waivers after two years in jacksonville
06:07and you know it and the other thing is run support like that's a big part of it too
06:13setting the edge it's not all about rushing the passer that is the marquee job of the edge rusher
06:19but there's a lot more that goes into it but when it comes to his particular size yeah he's he's
06:26the
06:26biggest one they've got so with with no fanfare whatsoever none it my the conclusion that i draw
06:35as someone who sees this like well this is the guy who's allegedly going to start at the other
06:40defensive end position with no fanfare i'm led to draw the conclusion that he must be just solid
06:49as a rock yep like quiet knows his assignments he doesn't fall for the banana in the tailpipe trick
06:55he just sets that edge he knows exactly what he's supposed to do and he's a compliment to everybody
07:01on that team and it's like that good first step guy and okay we need that let's hand it off
07:06the
07:06baton to somebody else here but he's going to start things off and when trying to figure out
07:10what they're thinking i've heard them talk about the big edge having a big edge and he's six four
07:16three hundred that's the big edge i'm at hasten he is six two one seventy five not one derrick moore
07:22or two seventy five excuse me yes derrick moore is six three two sixty dj want i'm six five two

07:29two he's by far their biggest edge he's the big edge and it's it's about the unit as a whole

07:36able to execute the defense the way they want which probably doesn't call for a smaller edge rusher as
07:43much as it calls for a big set the set the edge kind of guy it feels like you've got
07:49like the starting
07:51unit depends or the unit on the field depends on the down and distance first and ten yeah big end
07:56let's go with lacy if it's second and eight you're gonna just want them you know if it's third and
08:03ten
08:03derrick moore you know everybody i think everybody's got their their down and distance that they're
08:08supposed to play in and that's that's a true rotation just kind of interesting yeah no talk whatsoever
