Discover the traditional taste and aroma of Goan Patoli, also known as Patoleo — a delicious steamed sweet prepared inside fresh turmeric leaves. 🌿

In this video, we prepare Patoli using a soft wheat flour batter, freshly grated coconut, jaggery and a touch of cardamom. The coconut and jaggery filling is cooked until it reaches the perfect consistency, then wrapped in fragrant turmeric leaves and steamed.

One of the interesting parts of this recipe is the simple steaming method. If you don't have a traditional steamer, you can use an idli cooker with coconut shells and a small plate to create a steaming setup at home.

After 16 minutes of steaming, the turmeric leaves are opened to reveal soft, sweet and beautifully fragrant Patoli inside.

The combination of jaggery, coconut and the natural aroma of turmeric leaves makes this a special traditional Goan sweet and a wonderful example of Goan and Konkan cuisine.
