From Rosie with Love | Finding Strength Through Grief with Janine Ryans | BrwnGrlz Collective

Grief changes us, but it does not have to define us.

In this heartfelt conversation, we sit down with Janine Ryans, founder of Rosie with Love, to explore what it means to navigate loss, honor the people we love, and continue moving forward with purpose. Together, we discuss healing, resilience, the power of community, and why having honest conversations about grief can help others feel less alone.

Whether you’re grieving a loved one, supporting someone through loss, or simply looking for a conversation filled with compassion and hope, this episode reminds us that healing is not about forgetting. It’s about learning how to carry love with us as we move forward.

At BrwnGrlz Collective, we believe that meaningful conversations create meaningful connections, and this episode is a reminder that even in life’s most difficult moments, there is still room for healing, growth, and community.

00:00Welcome to the Brown Girls Collective, where community isn't just a word, it's a practice.
00:05Here we gather to read, to listen, and to tell the stories that shape our culture.
00:10From book club conversations that challenge how we think and feel,
00:13to interviews that spotlight voices, building, healing, and leading in real time.
00:19This is a space for honest dialogue, shared wisdom, and collective growth.
00:23We believe in culture with context, conversations with purpose, and community that shows up.
00:29These are our stories, these are our conversation, and this is the Brown Girls Collective.
00:39Hey everybody, and welcome back to another Brown Girls Collective interview.
00:43Whether you're joining us live or watching the replay, thank you so much for being here.
00:47If this is your first time joining us, welcome.
00:50So to tell you a little bit about Brown Girls Collective, our mission is simple.
00:53It's based on community, culture, and conversations.
00:56Every month, we sit down with leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, creatives, and changemakers
01:01who are making a real impact in our community.
01:04It's either through their work or sharing their stories.
01:08Our August theme is the next chapter begins with you.
01:11So every new chapter starts with a decision, and sometimes that decision is exciting,
01:16and sometimes it's uncomfortable.
01:18But growth begins the moment we decide to move forward.
01:21This month, we're exploring what it means to embrace new beginnings, take ownership of
01:25our future, and recognize that the next chapter of our lives begins with us.
01:29So today's guest has spent more than 25 years serving others through hospitality.
01:34And what began as a vision inspired by her mother became a business rooted in love, service,
01:39and legacy.
01:40Through faith, perseverance, and purpose, she's transformed one of life's most difficult seasons
01:45into an opportunity to honor her mother's memory while creating meaningful experiences
01:49to others.
01:49So please help us welcome Ms. Janine Ryans.
01:55Good afternoon.
01:56Hey, Janine.
01:56Good afternoon.
01:58Hi.
01:58Thank you so much for being here today.
02:01Thank you for having me.
02:04So before we dive into the conversation, I would love our community to get to know you
02:09a little bit.
02:10So can you tell us a little bit about yourself, what you do, and what inspired their journey
02:15from behind, from Rosie with Love?
02:18And just, you know, brief, because we're going to get into it.
02:21I don't want you to give away all the sauce.
02:22Okay.
02:23All right.
02:24Well, I'm Janine Ryans.
02:26I am a super young, 43 years old, and I am the founder of From Rosie with Love.
02:34Like Desiree said, I have been in the hospitality business for over 25 years.
02:39I love to serve.
02:41I'm a natural servant.
02:42So just being able to help people, to give them the service that they need with all the
02:48love that I have is what inspires me.
02:51So yeah, my story is, I think, an amazing one.
02:56Well, I love that.
02:58And I do, again, thank you for coming on today and letting us dig deeper into Janine, right?
03:04Now, before we begin, we do like to have fun, right?
03:10So we have this game called Pick a Category, and I'm going to put the choices up and you
03:15get to tell us which category you want.
03:17All right.
03:18So the categories are Provide, Protect, Evolve, Reset, Realign, Next Chapter, Growth and Leadership,
03:26Legacy, and Finish the Sentence.
03:28So out of those six categories, which one are you choosing and why before you answer the
03:34question?
03:36Next Chapter.
03:38And I am choosing Next Chapter because that's literally what this is for me, Next Chapter,
03:47New Beginnings.
03:49So cool, Bean.
03:50So we're going to find out because I'm nosy.
03:52What does your next chapter look like?
03:56So I'm going to remove this off the screen.
03:59Go ahead.
03:59Tell us, girl.
04:01My next chapter looks like me, me choosing me, me taking everything that I've been through
04:09and not allowing it to have me be stagnant.
04:13We all go through things and we have to use those points to help us evolve, to help us
04:21grow, to be better people.
04:22And also just, let's see, the best way to put it, I have to tie that legacy in with it
04:33too,
04:33because for me, the legacy part is my next chapter and it's my mom's legacy that I'm choosing
04:40to continue.
04:41Thank you for sharing.
04:42I really love that.
04:44And let's see what the next chapter unfolds for our interview.
04:48All right, so it's always interesting to hear how our guests answer these questions.
04:52So we went out into the community and asked some of these very same questions and let's
04:57see what they had to say.
05:03Hi, this is Desiree with the Brown Girls Collective and I'm here in Charleston at the Juneteenth
05:08Festival celebrating culture, community, freedom, and conversation.
05:11What we like to do with Brown Girls is play a little game and the game is called Pick a
05:15Category.
05:15So I'm going to ask you guys to choose a category and the category choices that we have are provide
05:21and protect, provide, protect, evolve, reset, realign, next chapter, growth and leadership
05:27or legacy.
05:28Which one?
05:29You know what?
05:30I'm going to go with growth and leadership.
05:32Okay, growth and leadership.
05:33So how are you growing into the next version of yourself?
05:37I feel like I'm constantly every day taking steps to evolve to the next version of myself.
05:42Every day through different people, I'm learning something new about myself.
05:46Everybody is mirrors.
05:47So I love to learn.
05:50I'm very curious.
05:51And so I'm always being taught things about myself.
05:54And so I pick next chapter.
05:55What is something you've always wanted to do but haven't started yet?
05:59Something I always want to do but haven't started yet?
06:02I would say swimming.
06:04And why is that?
06:05It's hot.
06:05I would love to jump in the pool right now.
06:08I just think historical trauma.
06:09Like, I've been terrified of water.
06:11Like, I've been to the pool, been to beaches.
06:13But actually just going into, like, an open-bodied water, like, obviously, right behind us, like,
06:18something I've been terrified of.
06:19But I do want to experience that.
06:21I'm going to say legacy.
06:23I'm going to say legacy.
06:24What do you want to be remembered for?
06:28Okay.
06:28I want to be remembered for cultural awareness.
06:35That's why my name is, the name of my brand is Naturally Geechee.
06:38I don't know if we said that in the beginning.
06:40Yeah.
06:40But it's Naturally Geechee.
06:42And for me, it's very important to have my name and my brand because I don't want to be ashamed
06:47of who I'm, where I'm from and who I am.
06:50You know what I mean?
06:50And I want people to remember me for being resilient because my brand started because of my lymphatic condition, and
07:03it makes me different.
07:04You know, it makes me look different to the outside world looking in.
07:07You know what I mean?
07:07And I want to be a voice for people who look different.
07:12You know what I mean?
07:13To hold your head high and do your thing and move with dignity.
07:17You know what I mean?
07:18And never let anything discount you or stop you from being the greatest you that you can be.
07:25All righty.
07:25So now before we begin today's conversation, I would like to ask you one more question.
07:30But before you answer, I would actually want you to hear what the community had to say, and I want
07:36to hear your response.
07:37Okay?
07:38Okay.
07:43Hi, and I'm with the Brown Girls Collective here in Charleston at the Juneteenth Festival celebrating culture, community, freedom, and
07:48community.
07:48And conversation over the past few months, we've been asking our community some important questions.
07:52In June, we explore what it means to provide, to protect, and to evolve.
07:56In July, we're asking our community to reset, realign, and to consider what's next.
08:01And as we look ahead for August, we're asking one more question.
08:04What does your next chapter look like?
08:06Because every new beginning starts somewhere, and the next chapter begins with you.
08:09So I'm here speaking with, if I can get your name and your age and where you're from?
08:14Yes.
08:15Stafford, 45.
08:16I am originally from Charleston, but I live in Charlotte.
08:19My name is Doris.
08:20I'm 44.
08:21Originally from Somerville, but I live in Charlotte also.
08:24All righty.
08:25So we got Charlotte and Charleston, two big cities.
08:28All righty.
08:29All right.
08:29Before we begin, I'm going to ask both of you a question, okay?
08:31What role do you think each of us should play in building the next chapter of our community?
08:37Which one wants to go first?
08:40Building the next chapter.
08:42I'll go first.
08:46Communication, information, making sure that we can make informed decisions about things,
08:52especially who advocates for us, who speaks for us, who has our best interest.
08:57They can actually be our voice.
08:58So I think rallying, I guess we can start with the people closest to us to make sure that
09:04they're being as active as possible.
09:07I guess if we start small, it'll grow, right?
09:10So power of network.
09:11Exactly.
09:12Yeah.
09:12So that basically was what I was going to piggyback on.
09:14We have to network.
09:15We have to get together collectively, share our knowledge, don't get keep, vote, complete
09:22the census.
09:23You know, all those things are important because those things add value and dollars back to our
09:27community.
09:27And before we let you go, are you guys on Instagram?
09:30Do you want people to follow?
09:32You have a business or so somebody you want to plug?
09:35Shout out.
09:36Jesus.
09:37Amen.
09:38J-E-S-U-S.
09:40Okay.
09:41But no, seriously, my Instagram, if anybody would like to follow me, I am based out of
09:45Charlotte, but Lavender and Gray Luxe events.
09:47So if you need any events, I will come to Charleston.
09:50Oh, you're an event planner?
09:51Yes, ma'am.
09:52So that's my, that's my, that's my blossoming business, my passion project.
09:57And I would love to service anyone because, hey, that's what we're here for, for our
10:03community and beyond.
10:04So yes, Lavender and Gray Luxe event.
10:07All right.
10:07Yes.
10:08And what about you?
10:08Yes, I'm all things underscore Doris.
10:11I believe that's it on Instagram, Doris Freeman.
10:14I guess I'll share my name because, hey, why not?
10:16And I work professionally in pharmaceuticals.
10:20However, I have the gift of hospitality.
10:22So when you book her for your events, let me know if you need some day of direction.
10:28I'm your girl.
10:28And if you need somebody to pray you out of something.
10:31Call, call, call, call, all righty.
10:36Well, I thank you guys so much.
10:37This has been the Brown Girls Collective here at the Charleston Juneteenth Festival,
10:40highlighting businesses, conversations, perspectives, and the voices shaping our community.
10:44The next chapter begins with you.
10:45So if you'd like to support the work we're doing through our interviews, book club,
10:48community program, and experiences like this, visit the link in our bio to donate support
10:52and to stay connected with the Brown Girls Collective.
10:55And make sure you're following the Brown Girls Collective for more community,
10:58culture, and conversations.
10:59See you next time.
11:02Now, now do you see why I said this was for you, boo-boo?
11:06So whatever you prayed for, whatever you was asking God, he said you needed, this is your
11:11confirmation.
11:12Okay.
11:12Was there anything that stood out to you?
11:16And I'll ask the question again.
11:18What role do you believe each of us should play in building the next chapter of our community?
11:22The first woman was talking about conversations, community.
11:27You know, the second one was talking about voting and census.
11:31And, you know, what do you think?
11:35And I like what both of them said.
11:37And I know she said communication as well.
11:39And it made me think about the fact that leadership is the first thing that I thought of when that
11:45question came about because it's like whether it starts with us, the little people, to get out here, push the
11:51impact, to vote, push the impact, to advocate for others.
11:55Again, no gatekeeping, doing all of that stuff.
11:57Yes, that's active communication.
11:59But it comes to us trickling up, not down, however you want to put it, moving up instead of down,
12:06where it comes to the leadership perspective from those of us like you doing this podcast.
12:12Me advocating for my business, advocating for others, which I'm big at, making sure that people are voting, especially our
12:19young people, getting our younger community involved.
12:22Because the generation is different from when we were brought about, making sure that they're voting for the proper leadership,
12:29know that what we're doing, know that their voice does matter.
12:32So the communication leadership, I feel like all that kind of tied up to each other.
12:36And I love the way both of them said that.
12:40And I appreciate your perspective.
12:41And I think that's the perfect place to begin today's conversation.
12:45So going into our interview component, you spent more than 25 years in the hospitality industry before launching From Rosie
12:54with Love.
12:54What inspired you to turn a vision into a business?
12:57And what has that journey been like for you?
13:01All right.
13:04So I have always wanted to have my own restaurant.
13:09I love to cook.
13:11Crazy thing is, my mom, best cook ever.
13:14Nobody can tell me anything different.
13:16She was the best cook, the best baker.
13:17But she never allowed us in the kitchen with us.
13:20And I'm with her.
13:20And I'm the same way.
13:21So I learned from afar by watching, tasting, that kind of thing.
13:25And that is kind of what made me want to be not a chef.
13:30I don't feel like I'm a chef.
13:32I don't know what to call myself.
13:34I'm going to think about that.
13:35What can I, because I don't feel like I'm a chef.
13:37Huh?
13:38The culinary artist.
13:40Artiste.
13:41I like it.
13:42A culinary artist.
13:43I like that.
13:44Yes, that's me.
13:45Because I don't want to just put myself in a box where it comes to things.
13:49I love to try stuff.
13:50I love different things.
13:51I love people, all that kind of stuff.
13:53So anyway, it's been there.
13:57The thought has been there.
13:58So I'll go back to where the vision really came about.
14:02We were in Atlanta five years ago celebrating my friend's birthday.
14:08And we had, you know, went out to the club, that kind of stuff, wasn't even excited about
14:12it, but got back and, you know, we just started having a good time having conversations.
14:16And I went to sleep at the table, remember vividly, went to sleep at the table, and I had the
14:22most vivid dream of my cafe, of how it should have been set up.
14:28The outside, the name was Rosie's Cafe, everything.
14:33And I snapped, woke up out of my sleep 530 in the morning and called my mom.
14:39And I told her about it.
14:41I said, it wasn't like, you know, it wasn't a dream dream.
14:44It's one of those, you know, this is surreal, almost like a, what do they call it when, deja vu
14:49kind of experience.
14:52And I was like, okay, so we gonna think about this.
14:56And she like, she was always my biggest advocate.
14:58She was like, well, you can do it.
15:01You can do anything.
15:01I've always told you, you're my adventure child.
15:03So whatever you want to do, you know, do it how you need to do it.
15:08And my mom's name was Rosemary, by the way.
15:10So that's how Rosie came about.
15:13So boom, the next morning, we were out in Atlanta looking for brunch places to go.
15:19My friend was like, well, let's just go downtown and see what we can find.
15:22First thing we can find so we can head home.
15:24We rolled up to the place.
15:26It was three places side to side.
15:28She was like, okay, let's go over here because it's a lot of people over there, but it's not a
15:32long line.
15:32Walked in the front, you know the name of the place?
15:36Rosie's Cafe.
15:38And I was like, okay, God, I hear you.
15:44I hear you.
15:45Okay.
15:46And walked in when I say it was almost verbatim of what I envisioned and how I wanted menus, all
15:54of that kind of thing.
15:55And I was like, okay, all right.
15:58So this is, this is, let's keep this in the forefront.
16:01And then, so that was in April.
16:06April, the first week of April, the second week of April is when we found out my mom had colon
16:14cancer.
16:16And so, you know, everything, you know, was still there, her, she and I still talked about it, but she
16:21was, it kind of was shifted to her being my priority and put on the forefront of everything.
16:27Right before my sister got married and everything was a week before my sister's wedding when she found out, but
16:32you know, she was in good spirits.
16:34We talked, you know, talked about everything.
16:36She looked good.
16:36We talked about, you know, all of the great things and we still talked about my business, but you know,
16:42like I said, she was my priority.
16:45So four long years, um, we fought, fought, fought, fought, and she fought a great fight.
16:50She was the strongest person I knew.
16:52And July 14th of last year, um, she did lose her battle.
16:57The last, I would say two weeks before she passed was really, really hard.
17:03Um, it was a lot of, you know, trying to get things in order, but watching the strongest person who,
17:09you know, who was your biggest motivator, like deteriorate in front of, ooh.
17:14In front of your eyes, like not knowing how to handle things.
17:18And this person being the person who was helping you do everything.
17:21Like your person, my mom was legit.
17:23My best friend.
17:25When I say she knew everything about my life, she knew everything.
17:30I didn't keep a secret from her.
17:31She was that person who, if I was feeling a way or I was hurting, I didn't, she, she lived
17:38in Greenwood, by the way, I live in Columbia.
17:40And she would call me and say, what's wrong?
17:45Like, that's the kind of connection that we had.
17:47So she could feel you.
17:49She could feel me, literally feel me.
17:53And I'm going to stop you right here because you're actually leading into our, our second question.
17:58Um, you shared that your business was inspired by a vision you had to honor your mother and not long
18:04after she was diagnosed with cancer.
18:06How do you feel that season of your life shaped both your purpose and the direction of your business?
18:15It shaped my purpose by allowing me to see things differently, if that makes sense.
18:22Um, where instead of just focusing on the business, I decided I needed to focus on the why behind the
18:30business and the bones, you know, the good structure of the business.
18:35It's not just speaking of the, oh, just cooking good food.
18:38No, it's the doing things with love, with strength, watching her as she fought with that strength and still had
18:46that same love and compassion that she had.
18:48And that's the kind of bones and structure and foundation that I decided to put for my business.
18:54So that's how that season helped me where it comes to that and even changing or altering the name a
19:00little bit to from Rosie with love instead of like Rosie's cafe or anything like that.
19:05It just really, it intensified the passion of wanting to do it.
19:10And a little bit after she passed, well, about six months after she passed, I lost my job in March,
19:15um, where I laid off in March.
19:16And even though I was already again in my head, like, yeah, I'm just tired of working for other people.
19:21I'm tired of, you know, that kind of thing.
19:23And when I lost my job, I didn't even think like, I didn't even care.
19:27Didn't care.
19:27I didn't think.
19:30So you didn't care.
19:31And, and I definitely understand that.
19:34Um, especially the biggest shock, you know, the, the biggest person, the, your backbone, everything and how you described her.
19:41She sounded like she was amazing woman and, you know, I'm sorry for your loss.
19:45Um, but I do have to ask this question, um, after losing her so unexpectedly, and like you said, you
19:52also lost your job.
19:53Um, something after that moment, um, there was a decision that you made, um, to move forward with the vision
20:00God had placed on your heart.
20:01What gave you the courage to begin a new chapter during one of the most difficult times in your life?
20:07Um, so it was July when she passed, it was about August or September.
20:16Um, like I was going, I was depressed.
20:18I'm not even going to lie to you.
20:20I was depressed still.
20:21You know, I have my days.
20:22I have my moments.
20:23I take it a second at a time, not a day at a time.
20:25Um, and I had a complete meltdown one day, like whole anxiety attack on the floor in here by myself.
20:33And when I came to, I cut my locks off and didn't even know that I had did it until
20:41I saw the videos the next morning.
20:43That's how out of it I was of me doing it.
20:46And at that moment, I took that as my healing moment.
20:51You know, sometimes people tell you like your strength is in your hair and that kind of thing.
20:54Um, I don't know if it's the strength was in my hair or the pressure it was holding on.
21:01The weight was in my hair and cause my hair had started thinning, you know, coming out in some places
21:07because of the stress, because of the depression, because of anxiety.
21:11And I just couldn't.
21:12And after that moment, I died it.
21:13And I was like, you know what?
21:16It's time to start healing.
21:19Um, it's time to start the healing process.
21:21It's time to figure out what the next step is, because like I said, she was the strongest person I
21:26knew.
21:26And she would have never wanted to see me like that.
21:28Even days that I have now, she still wouldn't want to see me like this.
21:31But I knew after that point that I had to make a difference for her, not for me.
21:38So you often describe your mother as your biggest inspiration, your motivation and the best cook you know.
21:44How do you intentionally honor her legacy through the work you do and the experiences you create for others?
21:53Because for me, where it comes to, again, I'm not a chef.
21:57Like I said, I love culinary artists.
21:59I love people.
22:01And I think I've said that already.
22:03I love to help.
22:04I love to make sure that people are okay.
22:07And a lot of times I do it not making sure I'm okay, but making sure other people are okay.
22:12And I take her because she could not have anything and have everything and make sure that everybody else was
22:19good.
22:20And that's where I am, where it comes to my food.
22:22I am big on, I see a lot of places overcharge people and under portions, that kind of thing.
22:30And I'm like, that's not what I want to be known for because that's not who my mom was.
22:34My mama was an overabundance person.
22:37If she could give you $5, she would give you $10 just to make sure that you didn't have to
22:42come back for $5 more.
22:43And with my food, I try to do that.
22:46I make sure that my portions are hearty.
22:48Everything that I do, I do it with love.
22:51I can't say that any other way.
22:54I make sure that my food speaks the integrity and the values that my mom instilled into me to make
23:02sure that people know that this is not Janine.
23:05This is Janine exuding Rosemary because that's just who she was.
23:11And to make sure that that legacy continues so that my children could see it and see like this is
23:16the person that your grandmother was.
23:19Oh, I love that.
23:20I love that.
23:20And I love the name.
23:21I love the name.
23:24So, every event you create carries your mother's name and the values that she's instilled in you, which are love,
23:31integrity, and excellence.
23:33What do you hope people remember when they experience from Rosie with love?
23:37And what legacy do you hope you're building for future generations?
23:42Well, just that, the love that these things are very important, like for daily life, the love to show people
23:50love.
23:50God loved everybody.
23:51And that's how she was, the integrity, making sure that everything that you do is done with so much integrity
23:59that people look at and be like, man, I remember that potato that I got from her.
24:03I don't know what she did.
24:04You know how people in the South say she put her foot in that.
24:07I don't know what she did.
24:08Like, I want them to, when they think about the name from Rosie with love, yes, they said again, Janine.
24:15Oh, she did that.
24:16But she did that because of her mom.
24:20I want to make sure that everything, like I said, exudes her and who she was and what she instilled
24:26into me.
24:27And the legacy that I want to continue to build and to grow, it's beyond that.
24:32Like, I don't know how we're going to get into more of the conversation, but this is just the catering
24:38and the food is just the foundation.
24:40I am working on a nonprofit like you where it comes to that.
24:45It's going to be Rosie's Fight Club.
24:48And it's going to be a place where advocation, education and all of that for colorectal cancer.
24:54I plan on doing like galas, all that kind of thing where people can come and be a part of
25:03and know the community.
25:05Having my mom was also a person who, again, just quick sidebar.
25:12I had a sister who passed 11 years ago and we took her children.
25:17And when we took her children, which were five of them, my mom, the youngest one my mom had, for
25:23the most part, her name is Jordan.
25:25And she is a fighter as well.
25:28She has had heart surgery twice already, major heart surgery, open heart surgery.
25:33And so my mom, again, was a giver.
25:35And so she always gave to places like St. Jude for research, M-U-S-C, because that's where Jordan
25:45had both of her surgeries, that kind of thing, to make sure that, you know, she was helping continue the
25:51growth of the education for those things as well.
25:55The heart, that kind of thing.
25:56And so I got that from her where it comes to it.
25:58So that's why I want to start my foundation so that I can continue to pour into those kind of
26:05things.
26:05But mine will be centered more towards the colorectal foundations, colorectal research, colorectal education, to make sure that we know
26:12the things that we need to do to take proper precaution.
26:16And the signs we need to see just staying on top of our health, period.
26:21And hopefully it'll be an impact on more than the local.
26:26We're trying to impact the world with this.
26:29So I know we asked you before, you know, and, you know, let me just say, you know, with everything
26:38you shared, again, I believe that this interview was for you today, honestly.
26:43You know, I, you know, from looking on the, from the outside looking in, you do not look like what
26:50you've been through.
26:51And I'm not saying, like, I would expect anyone to look crazy, but I'm just saying that, you know, every
26:57time I see you, you're always smiling, laughing and stuff.
27:00I've never, like, I've never personally seen that.
27:04And so, again, you know, again, I'm sorry for everything that you've gone through, but what I've learned in life
27:11is, you know, we go through things to form us into being who we're supposed to be.
27:17And I know that your mom is definitely, probably most definitely proud of who you have become today.
27:23And so going into our August theme, I know I asked you when we first came in, you know, to
27:29choose a question and you chose that one.
27:32But after, you know, this discussion, what do you think or what does the next chapter begins with you?
27:41Like, how does that phrase or what does that phrase mean to you now personally?
27:48The next chapter beginning with me?
27:50Mm-hmm.
27:52Me being the change that I want to see.
27:56We all know, like we both just said, we all go through things.
28:00Life be life.
28:01But because I changed my life maybe like five years ago and really started, I've always been a Christian.
28:10Let me take that back.
28:11I've always been a Christian, always, you know, been in the church, love God.
28:14But as you get older and the more you start aligning yourself with like-minded people and people who you
28:21see like, man, I love what they're doing and start talking.
28:26Again, having these conversations, building these relationships.
28:29I'm big on relationships.
28:32And that is what made me want to be more of the change, aligning myself with God, not just me.
28:39And yes, I said it is the me season, but that's the season that I feel like God has put
28:44the purpose for me to be.
28:45Not the seasons before where I was doing things on my own and trying to drive that boat that I
28:51kept crashing into the water every time.
28:54Instead, I've been just leaning, like leaning.
28:58You say, I don't look like what I go.
28:59Thank you, girl.
29:00I appreciate it.
29:01Because baby, see the girl be in it over here.
29:06No, you said something that was really on point.
29:09And I was, I was, girl, I'm on social media all the time.
29:12And sometimes it's not healthy as, but you really said something in this confirmation for me is, you know, when
29:20you said about going and trying to, you know, drive the boat and keep crashing in the ocean.
29:24And God was like, yeah, because I didn't teach you how to be a sailor.
29:30Like, I'm the sailor.
29:31Let me sail.
29:32Like, I know where we going.
29:34Can you let me do my job?
29:36And that's how I be feeling.
29:38And so like, you know, as like today in all of all things, everything that go, I'm not even going
29:45to let that bother me.
29:46Like, you know, because in the sense of things worked out and I knew they were going to work out
29:50the way that he wanted to work out, not the way that I wanted it to work out.
29:53Because his plans are always greater than the ones that we have for ourselves.
29:57And he continues to amaze me every day.
30:00I'm never shocked with him.
30:01But I do have our last question of the evening.
30:06To someone's watching, and if they're facing an unexpected ending or wondering whether they're capable of starting over, what encouragement
30:16would you leave with them?
30:25That mustard seed is real.
30:29That mustard seed is real.
30:31Leaning on God.
30:33Like, honestly, leaning on God, but never forgetting, you know, yeah, we might say, oh, I want to give up.
30:40I'm tired.
30:41Lord, I don't want to do this anymore.
30:43Lord, we have to think about who gave up on us.
30:47God never gave up on us.
30:49Most of us, our parents never gave up on us.
30:51So who are we to give up on ourselves?
30:55Again, be the change that you want to see.
30:58Most of us have children.
31:00Some of us don't.
31:00So for those, even the ones who don't have children, think about the people who, nieces, nephews, whoever.
31:07Somebody's always watching you.
31:09Somebody sees you.
31:11They see what you're going through.
31:13They know that, oh, my God, like, she just lost her mom.
31:17Or she just lost, you know, her dog, a child, whatever.
31:21But when they see you, again, like you said with me, what are you exuding?
31:25You have to make sure that it's okay to go through it, but we can't just sit there.
31:31Feel all the feelings.
31:32I'm going to tell you now, feel all of the feelings.
31:36And then give it to God and go to sleep.
31:39Give it to God and go to sleep.
31:41But feel it, honey, scream, yell, punch something.
31:45I found my, you know, I have people who I just call, call and cry if I need to.
31:49I only have two people, but I do have people who I just, sometimes I just have to.
31:54If I'm losing it, I have to.
31:57But you got to be able to lean and know that you don't have to do this stuff alone.
32:03It's always somebody going through what you're going through and probably more.
32:09So find an outlet.
32:11That's another thing.
32:11Find an outlet.
32:14Therapy is real and therapy is great.
32:16So everybody, you know, everybody might not have insurance, might not be, find you a person.
32:22Because I've always been that person for a lot of people.
32:25And that actually, that helps me being able to help other people.
32:27But everybody ain't like that.
32:29So just know that you don't have to do it alone.
32:32Know that you have God, of course.
32:34And anytime you have to talk out loud, just find somebody to let it out with.
32:38You never know how many people would actually be happy that you're doing it instead of, you know, caging it
32:45in.
32:45Pressure bust pipes.
32:47And those things, bad on your health, they can cause aneurysms.
32:52You got people depending on you too, including yourself.
32:55You got a purpose.
32:58And God has you.
33:00And like, you said, you was talking to me and I was like, damn, what you know that I don't,
33:03like, I got, I lost the last bit you said.
33:09Cause I was like, what did you, damn, you ain't had to come from me like that.
33:12All in my business.
33:15But Janine, I do want to thank you so much for spending time with us today.
33:19Before we let you go, can you tell everyone where they can connect with you, learn more about your work,
33:24where they can get some good food and continuing to follow your journey?
33:30Absolutely.
33:31So again, I am on Facebook.
33:33My name is Janine Nicole on Facebook.
33:37I have a Facebook business page and it is from Rosie with love.
33:41It is linked to my personal page.
33:43My personal page, you can, it's completely open.
33:46So please feel free to follow me.
33:48I'm always posting things on there as well for both.
33:51I have Instagram for both.
33:53My Instagram is it's me mocha, M O C H A.
33:57It's me mocha and my Instagram for my business is also from Rosie with love.
34:03But with the love, the O is a zero because the O was already taken.
34:08So it's from Rosie with love, but in zero there.
34:11I also have Tik TOK.
34:13I think my Tik TOK is Ms. Ananaj.
34:15I won't be on there much.
34:17I just scroll on there.
34:18I don't post a lot on there.
34:19I need to do better.
34:20So I can definitely get that out there more, but I'm in the Columbia area.
34:24I do surrounding areas.
34:26I'm working on doing pop-up shops.
34:28I'm working on a lot.
34:30Like when I say stay tuned, it's about to be lit around here.
34:34And I'm saying that because next chapter is a great read.
34:39The reaping season is here and I am here for it all.
