00:01i took a little break from uh new g we had to uh step away for a little while
00:08but we're back praise the lord we're back and i just did my first show in the last
00:13the first show in almost three years was may 31st we uh popped out in indianapolis
00:18dr dillard said it's lilly and it's time baby it's time for us to pop out on i said all
00:24right
00:24let's go where we going because like i tell people all the time you know what goes on in
00:29this house stays in this house and when you when you get emotional and when you're when
00:34you're upset and you jump the gun sometimes you get to talking too fast and i just talked
00:39too fast ricky didn't fire me and i didn't quit we just had a little disagreement and then
00:44we didn't revisit the conversation to see okay now where are we and so when we didn't have
00:49that conversation and and i don't know i mean i've been in this choir for 24 24 years of
00:55my life i've been a connected to this choir so everybody that has any drop of sense that's been
01:04in the choir for more than 10 minutes you know do not bring dr dillard anything the week of a
01:09recording don't talk to this man don't come bringing him no problems don't don't don't tell
01:14him nothing i don't care if you got a hole in your stockings don't tell him about it because it's
01:20going to go all the way to the moon he is just frantic at recording time so those those of
01:26us
01:26that are vets in the choir we know to just stay out of his way every quarter time whatever you
01:31got
01:31to tell him wait until two weeks after the recording is over to tell him when everything goes back to
01:36normal because it's a very stressful time for him because he's not just directing the choir he's
01:41choosing tunes for each album he's teaching parts he's making sure these songs and he might teach a
01:47song get halfway through and say i don't like this let's go to something else get that other
01:50you know you're like okay i don't like this or he may he may teach it and say i like
01:57this but it's
01:58not really for this album now that i'm listening to it i don't think i want to put it on
02:01this record
02:01and he'll you know table it for a different time so there's just a lot that goes into that process
02:08and we just had an unnecessary conversation that day and just it just got got out of control and
02:14neither one of us had ever had that experience with each other and we neither one of us knew what
02:20to do with that and so i assumed that he no longer wanted me in the choir and so i
02:25just told everybody
02:26i wasn't coming to the recording and i didn't go like the thing was i didn't go the night that
02:31i went
02:31live i went live to talk about a personal experience that i was having with the guy i was dating
02:37at the
02:38time had nothing to do with dr dillard so all the pictures and emails i was talking about in the
02:43video that everybody saw that went viral um i wasn't talking about new g i wasn't talking about
02:47ricky at all i was talking about me and my boyfriend and so somebody got in the comments and said
02:52hey
02:53why aren't you in cincinnati are you you good i'll see and then somebody else said hey i'll see you
02:58at the recording tomorrow i said no you won't see me because i won't be there and by that time
03:03i had
03:03said too much and so i was like all right let's just put the cat out of the bag as
03:07of saturday
03:08whatever whatever and so that's when the whole thing went crazy but i took the post down somebody
03:16screen recorded it while i was talking and sent it to larry reed and that's how it got viral
03:23so it was never my intention for that to be my exit from the choir i don't move like that
03:29i when i say i love you i mean that when i say we're family i mean that so but
03:35once the whole choir
03:36finds out via text during rehearsal it's like everybody start getting these messages on their
03:41phone bling bling bling bling bling everybody's song is going off and this message comes through
03:45and they're like um no she didn't dump her you know that's the vibe at that point without knowing
03:52what actually happened and it was just it was really just one big misunderstanding that just went
03:56way too far way too long but the lord allowed us to separate for a time and we both reflected
04:03and
04:04said okay i know the lord called me the pastor and i need to look at that and start moving
04:09toward
04:09it because i told him that that day i said no god you know he's calling me the pastor and
04:13so
04:13can we start a church and i just start telling him a bunch of stuff that i didn't need to
04:16tell him that
04:16day that was not the day to have that discussion with him but um he has always been very supportive
04:23of my ministry especially my preaching ministry he's always been very supportive of that and that was
04:27the main thing when i first joined the choir he said you know little if you keep singing like this
04:31you're going to start getting some speaking engagements out of this too because people can
04:34hear the word when you preach you're full of the word you the word just comes forth out of you
04:39you
04:40all you're doing is preaching to the song you preach into a melody you know you're already preaching so
04:45he's never been he never protested me doing preaching and and stepping out to speak and such so
04:53that he's always been very supportive of that and supportive of my career overall so
04:57all the all the stupid interviewers that were just making up stories and they they couldn't get an
05:04interview from him they could because he's very private he's not going to get on anybody's camera
05:09and talk about our personal lives that's crazy work and i'm not going to either so we it was
05:15just okay she's not going to say anything so we'll just start making up stuff and so they started
05:20saying oh it was about money or she was owed royalties for i'm like i didn't even write the song
05:25how
05:25could i be owed royalties for oh she wants the record label to treat her uh better than they
05:30i said i don't want any of those things because i understand the the music business it's not my album
05:35why would i be expecting special treatment from the label for an album that's not mine only somebody
05:41stupid will be thinking that you're stupid so because you said it so you're stupid i'm not i'm not
05:47i'm not a bird brain i've been in this industry for over 30 years i know how it works and
05:52i know how
05:52it doesn't work and i know it doesn't work like that and also i'm not a malicious person so i
05:58can't
05:58expect i can't expect to be blessed trying to manipulate and control another man's work that's
06:05ricky's ministry that was his vision that's his legacy i can't come in and try to bogart my way and
06:12oh look at me no no no my stages are for that his stage is for me to push and
06:18support his vision
06:19and continue the legacy that was started by his father in the ministry um our our beloved
06:25my papa as i call him um the late uh father charles g hayes and um that was his mentor
06:32that was his
06:33father and we loved him dearly and uh still do miss him a great deal um but just continuing that
06:42continuing that legacy of real gospel music and that's that's always why i'm there and i told him i'm
06:49like it was never about me being a lead singer or trying to be a star on your stage i
06:53was just
06:53happy to be there with you if i'd never lead a song i'm happy being an alto section just singing
06:58with my hero because he has always been that for me so i love that run until that
07:06listen
07:08you
