00:00This rescuer couldn't believe this wild hedgehog was still alive.
00:04Oh my goodness, look at you.
00:06In this heat, we need to get there quickly and get him free.
00:09In the middle of a heat wave, wildlife rescue officer Lewis Porton arrived as fast as he could.
00:16On this side, it's such a narrow gap.
00:19I'll just get there.
00:20I can't even fit my fist in there.
00:24He's breathing.
00:26There's not much room there at all.
00:28God, yeah.
00:28How's he managed that?
00:30They suspected she had been stuck there for nearly three whole days.
00:35What he's doing, he's trying to curl up and he's just like.
00:40But against all odds, this hedgehog was alive.
00:46So Lewis had to improvise and fast.
00:52Look at that.
00:53It's flat as a pancake in there.
00:55Come on.
00:56Oh my god, yeah.
00:58Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
01:00Oh my goodness.
01:02Oh my goodness.
01:04Look at you.
01:05You're still alive, but only just.
01:08Oh my god, look how mischaping it is.
01:11Oh my god, I've never seen one like that before.
01:13Lewis and his team were completely shocked to find that this hedgehog was completely bloated and barely even conscious.
01:21There was literally no time to spare.
01:24Seeing just how critical the hedgehog's condition was, we rushed back to WAF as quickly as we could.
01:31We're going to stick him in here with the aircon.
01:34Got a very poorly hedgehog.
01:37I didn't think he was alive.
01:38At the vet, the experts did absolutely everything they could to save this hedgehog's life.
01:47After a week, Lewis received the best possible update that he could have hoped for.
01:53Right, everyone.
01:53It's a really exciting evening.
01:55Some really great news.
01:56Me and Gabe are really, really pleased with this one.
01:58The hedgehog that we rescued last week, I really didn't think it was going to survive.
02:02They made a full turnaround.
02:04So, we're here a week on.
02:07I'm really pleased.
02:08It's all worked out really well for this little one.
02:10I've already had a little peek.
02:11She looks great.
02:12And we're going to pop her back in right now.
02:14The hedgehog is now living a healthy, happy life in a new garden with a new family.
02:21And the fence that she was once trapped in is now a distant memory.
02:33You
