00:11tiny little puppy outside the neighbor's house. She was so skinny that her legs looked really long
00:15and gangly, and she had these huge point ears that reminded us of a kangaroo. So we started
00:20calling her Roo-Roo, and the name just stuck. Jess had helped street dogs before, so every morning
00:26she'd go check on Roo and bring her breakfast. She was incredibly skinny, but honestly, she was the
00:31happiest little puppy. Always wagging her tail, always excited to see people. But the streets
00:38weren't a safe place for a tiny puppy like Roo. There were bigger dogs nearby, so Jess decided to
00:43move Roo to a safer location.
00:54One morning, I walked her about 30 seconds down the pathway to where we were staying,
00:59because there weren't any aggressive dogs there. And she basically moved in straight away.
01:09From then on, Roo slept every night under the house and followed Jess everywhere.

01:21At this point, Jess started to seriously wonder what she was going to do.
01:25I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen when we left. I've helped lots of street dogs before,
01:30but Roo was different. She was just so young and so fragile. I honestly didn't think she'd survive
01:35very long on her own. By then, leaving Roo behind just didn't really feel like an option. But getting
01:40a rescue dog from Barbados to the UK meant a ton of paperwork, vet care, and additional costs that she
01:48hadn't planned for. Some friends suggested starting a GoFundMe, and the support she got was unbelievable.
01:56I think that is my favorite part about stories like this. One person decides to help, and then
02:02another, and then another. And before you know it, this tiny puppy, who didn't have much, is now
02:09living her best life with people who truly love her.

02:32She was so excited to see us. I couldn't believe how well she'd handled such a long journey.
02:37We'd only got back from Barbados ourselves the night before, so we weren't exactly prepared.
02:41But she spent most of the five-hour drive home to Cornwall asleep on my lap.
02:45Fast forward to today, she's still exactly the same sweet, happy little Roo.
02:49She's just about five times her size now, a whole lot healthier, and every single day
02:54I'm reminded of how lucky we both are that we've found each other.
02:56She's still living right now.
02:57And just like this, we're all very angry.
