00:18who have absolutely broken out big time in the month of august or have been steady throughout
00:23the course of the year including a strong month of august that we're going to get into but we have
00:28to of course begin today's discussion regarding the top prospect of all that's returning back to
00:33the major leagues next week to face off against the miami marlins that being in jonathan we're going
00:38to break down ton why he's getting the call back to this mets rotation how we feel about it as
00:43a fan
00:43base along with all the key details regarding the other respective prospects as to why you mets fans
00:48should be locked in on them to wrap up this season hit that like and subscribe button on your way

01:06discussion our friend here at the post that being mike puma just discussed over the past day or so
01:12reporting the following that yes the mets are leaning towards giving jonathan the call
01:16to return to this mets rotation for next week against the miami marlins now there was a lot of
01:22speculation and clean myself initially under the belief that jonathan would be getting the call as part of
01:27september call-ups as soon as this week contrary to that belief we saw justin haigman get the call
01:33for the new york mets and what you won three strong innings of work there we saw in the mets
01:3710-4 victory
01:38wrapping up their series dub in tampa against one of the best teams in baseball and those rays
01:43haigman was solid but not necessarily someone that's part of the mets future plans for the rotation
01:48and ways that jonathan most certainly is so jonathan who was initially slated to pitch this weekend for
01:53syracuse is instead going to pitch early next week in miami against those fish which now begs the
01:58question why are the mets giving the 23 year old ray hanner a call now and ultimately is it deserving
02:04well let's start with the obvious as to is it deserving absolutely jonathan over his past four starts has
02:10a 0.84 year ray that included a no hitter into the final inning that he pitched a couple days
02:15ago
02:16in allentown against the iron pigs in which he went seven innings of one hit no earn run baseball
02:20eight punchies for the young fiery right-hander who is absolutely putting everything together
02:26with his arsenal jonathan for those are unaware not only himself a strong outing where that was a
02:31complete game shutout what was a short and double header outing for him but over his past eight
02:35collective starts has just over a two-year ray and all this percentiles when looking at strikeout
02:40percentage as well as many others are in the 75th to north of 90th percentile minor league baseball
02:45throughout this eight game stretch meaning he's been one of the better pitchers in all the minor leagues
02:50and this is something that we saw plenty in 2025 for ton which led him to not only leading all
02:55the
02:55minor leagues in baseball with his strikeouts but also warranted the call up to the bigs along with
03:00noah mclean as the mets were still pushing for postseason play down the stretch and what was a
03:05failed 2025 season fast forward a year later it's a failed 2026 season for the new york mets but knowing
03:11that they made their bed for a club that clearly is not making postseason play it is now time to
03:15give
03:15ample runway and opportunity to young players that they believe are going to have a leash for this
03:19club in 2027 which is exactly why you're seeing guys like nick moribido on the outfield get his
03:24own fair share of runway after louise robert was claimed by the baltimore orioles moribido as we
03:29know had a monster game for the mets the past day including a three run double with two outs and
03:34an
03:35electrifying catch that we saw in left field truly adding to the psycho notion himself carson medge and
03:40aj ewing what do they have in common they're all high-flying rookie outfielders for the mets and when we
03:45look at this mets rotation build of noah mclean zach thornton and christian scott they're one more
03:50piece away from truly having a four-headed monster if not a four-headed horseman here that'll be with
03:55jonathan because for the first time in about a decade the mets now have ample opportunity to run
04:01with homegrown talent in which they will have their levels of success right we think of the matt harvey's
04:06the noah center guards the zach wheelers the jacob de groms and the steven matzes of the world that
04:11was the last time the mets truly had a homegrown developed rotation of prospects that developed
04:16and the organization regardless of wheeler of course coming over in the carlos beltron trade with
04:21the giants as a prospect years ago regardless of noah synergard coming along with travis star no and
04:26the ra dickey deal with the toronto blue jays these guys developed here and we saw them blossom naturally
04:31at the major league level how fitting you fast forward essentially a counter literal decade later
04:36and the mets are positioning themselves for similar if not hopefully greater success mclean is currently
04:42on pace to not only get rookie of the year finalist candidacy but he's also someone who very well is
04:46going to be in this scion conversation and for great reason while we look at zach thornton he's
04:51quickly blossoming to becoming potentially the best young southpaw i've ever witnessed that the mets have
04:56had as a homegrown talent potentially trumping the john eases the steven matzes and the most recently
05:01david petersons of the world to christian scott who still has all the makings of being a viable
05:06starter and top two to top three starter in this rotation as we head into 2027 so with jonathan
05:12what has worked better what has worked different for him as we know he's fluctuating he's been right
05:16around a four and a half north of a five-year rate this year it's because of a couple significant
05:21things one the walk rate jonathan has walked everyone and their mother and that is something
05:25that the mets are still trying to nip in the butt to great degree in the minor leagues home run
05:30rate
05:30another big bugaboo for jonathan as he's utilized an arsenal that unlike last year now has a cutter
05:36added to it that he's thrown heavily we've seen a heavy increase in home run per nine at roughly
05:41almost two home run per nine for triple a syracuse jonathan as he has given up over 20 home runs
05:47in
05:47triple a this year for context he only gave up two home runs with the rumble ponies all of last
05:51year
05:51and double a before ultimately getting to the big league level which he obviously got rocked some
05:57outings i remember that outing against the cincinnati reds especially where he gave up like three not four
06:01solo shots we saw him get rocked facing off against jacob de grom last year but can you fault the
06:06get what can you fault the guy facing off against one of the best pitchers we've ever seen in our
06:10lifetime it's not an easy thing especially when you're rushed up as part of a playoff push for
06:14this mets team but nonetheless between tom utilizing his arsenal more properly where you're seeing that
06:19cutter slaughter usage and how it's actually becoming more deceptive to batters he's having a greater grip
06:24and understanding of it than he ever has now that we're seeing with his arsenal furthermore we're seeing a
06:30difference in the release point you know how jonathan looked very tim lincecum-esque of course
06:34the giants legend for a number of years helping them win their championships with the over the
06:38head release point well that arm slot naturally changed to begin the year unintentionally for
06:44jonathan but the mets have nipped that in the butt and that arm slot is more as it was last
06:49year
06:49leading to more swing to miss and ultimately more success and yes that breaking ball is a big thing for
06:54him with the curveball if jonathan has that right that is an absolute weapon as was the case last year
06:59but when you have a fiery fastball still setting mid to high 90s and now inducing the swing to miss
07:04and eliminating the walks a bit more over his past month and a half all this is cultivating as to
07:09why
07:09jonathan is now getting the look back at the major league level so you may say to yourself
07:13warty why will the mets go ahead and do this because if ton gets rocked it's going to hurt his
07:18confidence it's going to hurt his development and the answer to that is this is now more of a
07:23right time than ever before to give jonathan the call and the simple reason for that is
07:28there's a lack of pressure you got a month left on the regular season for the mets right we know
07:32they're not going anywhere they made their bet already they made that bet going all the way back
07:35to april when they thought carl smendoza being skipper beyond a couple weeks was the right idea
07:39for the club among many other shortcomings and roster build cough cough david stearns but when we talk
07:45on the front of jonathan unlike last year thrown into the fire right away as the mets were still pushing
07:50for postseason play until the literal last day of the season this is the opposite we know who they
07:55are now it's time to have a lack of pressure but also just go out and play your game as
08:01the
08:01andy green mets interim manager stated regarding nick moribito over the past day we just want nick to
08:06play his game we don't want the bright lights to get in the way or anything the same applies with
08:10jonathan here and jonathan who said in interview you know that this is going to make him a better
08:14pitcher to come out of this with where he's fallen short in the minor leagues this year this is what
08:18the
08:18minor leagues is about when you're building an arsenal as a young right-hander of course especially
08:22if you're adding a new pitcher to you're going to fluctuate in your success but you rather that
08:26happen months on that in syracuse then at the big league level costing the mets games so whether ton
08:32comes up and he's dominant whether he's mid or whether he's bad either way this is going to further
08:37help his development and give the mets a greater idea as to what jonathan jonathan's value can be
08:42impacting this team either as a starter and or reliever heading into 2027 because also have to
08:49bear in mind that should jonathan if i'm not mistaken have at least two outings for the new york
08:53mets beginning with that outing in miami then his rookie eligibility status changes and then the mets
08:59are going to lose a year of club control on the player are the mets willing to do that for
09:04someone
09:04like ton i believe that they are barring changes so we'll just have to wait and see all that transpires
09:09here but jonathan gained the call some say it's all overdue some say he isn't deserving of it i
09:14believe that now is the ample time to give him this runway for the final couple weeks of the season
09:19see what he can bring for you and then give you a little bit more of a painted picture as
09:22you head
09:22into 2027 whatever that season is going to happen barring that impending lockout so now guys that we
09:29talk about jonathan let's talk about all these other prospects right because separate from ton we got
09:33nine other guys to get into that we're going to rapid fire that if you were not paying attention to
09:38as a mets fan who does care about the farm you better start paying attention now what do all
09:42the players that we're going to deep dive in a second have in common they all have had tremendous
09:46past month or so of baseball in the month of august some of these guys that you know especially
09:50because we have talked about them endlessly since the mets have acquired them via trade of course going
09:55back to this year's trade deadline coverage that we did in studio manhattan for the new york post
09:59here on this youtube channel as well as on mine at wardy nym that many you guys saw make sure

10:04out in case you guys haven't already that was a lot of fun live immediate reaction but
10:08you know it's a rarity that you see trades come off win-win the way that they most certainly have
10:13for what feels like the new york mets and the chicago cubs we think of the clay homes trade
10:17where clay he's been dominant tyron taylor has been heading north to 400 for the cubs they're the
10:23they're the chicago they're the chicago mets as far as i'm concerned with conforto there
10:26pca and everyone else in company david pearson's been doing much better as of late for them let's not
10:32forget pearson was the first domino to fall and that's trades really of significance this year
10:36but nonetheless the mets got one player in return for that clay homes and tyron taylor trade
10:40and that was the top 100 mlb pipeline prospect and is currently the number one prospect the
10:45mets organization a young man by the name of jefferson rojas and jefferson rojas has been
10:50absolutely tremendous for the new york mets and his past 11 or so games he's hit six home runs for
10:55context and throughout the month of august jefferson rojas put up a 255 average
11:00a 308 on base a 553 slug that's good for an 861 ops now let's also bear in mind his
11:07statistics
11:08solely in the mets organization with the rumble ponies that's to with north of a 930 ops so not
11:14only has rojas been awesome but he's gotten better since arriving in the mets organization specifically
11:20which has been great to see that also included the month of august a total of seven home runs so
11:25one of them was prior to being on the mets 25 rbis that we saw throughout this stretch eight walks
11:30and
11:31a total of two stolen bases very solid stuff there that we saw from mr jefferson rojas who's looking
11:38like he will impact the mets as soon as next year that we're going to see potentially the hot corner
11:43depending on what the status will be of one boba check because rojas like some other guys you'll see
11:48in today's discussion our shortstop prospects however aren't necessarily projected to thrive at
11:53shortstop as will be the case rojas who's probably a better profile at the hot corner now staying on
11:59the topic of the rumble ponies we have a lot more than just jefferson to get into here not only
12:04has
12:04he impressed with his tremendous bat to ball skills and all-around play someone who could impact the
12:08mets as soon as the inception of 2027 season whenever that'll be whether it's on time or late
12:14into the year either way rojas is going to make an impact for this club as will be the case
12:19with
12:20mitch voight as many of you guys know mitch voight was drafted a year ago by david sterns the first
12:24draft pick by sterns that year in 2025 in the second round coming out of michigan and mitch voight just
12:30can't stop hitting since moving up to the double a roma ponies in the month of august for mitch voight
12:34he quite literally batted and i'm not even exaggerating as i state this everybody and literally 19 games
12:40a 400 batting average a 489 on base a 600 slug that's good for over a thousand ops mitch voight
12:48throughout this stretch after the round and had himself two home runs 15 rbis that we saw a total
12:54of 10 walks also had four stolen bases to just 16 strikeouts again the man has been a hits machine
13:01mitch voight and another scenario where again whether mitch is playing shortstop or someone out somewhere
13:06else around the along the infield i believe mitch voight's future with the mets will be at second
13:11base if it's not going to be short naturally because of london unless london falls off a cliff even worse
13:16this year than this year defensively you're likely going to have london unless he's somehow traded
13:22starting 2027 as your shortstop with one of mitch voight or someone else at second base because it
13:28sure as hell better not be marcus simi okay but voight has been unbelievably impressive we're waiting for
13:34the kid to stop hitting 400 but he can't stop hitting 400 since landing with the rumble ponies
13:39it's honestly insane how good he's been and because of that it's had a lot of mets fans oohing and
13:45aahing
13:45and saying oh my god could mitch voight could call it up to the bigs this year and the answer
13:48that is
13:49probably not but very exciting very enticing for mitch foight who mind you for context in the month
13:56of june this year batted 305 with a 902 ops for high a brooklyn in july we saw him making
14:03that
14:03transition right 247 average 756 ops then here comes august full stretch only in double a moving
14:12up and he's playing his best baseball of his professional career yet not only has voight
14:17looks so good with the bat but the defensive web gems have reigned supreme as well as has been the
14:22case with jefferson roas both have made some very good plays in the infield that we've seen over the
14:26past couple weeks for the rumble ponies but as we continue on that rumble pony discussion we have to
14:31get into another guy who's really been sticking out and someone who not nearly enough mets fans
14:36have been paying attention to myself included and that's why i want to give a massive shout out to
14:40friend of the platform that we had here not long ago and earnest dove from the dove report show
14:45as earnest said garrett stradden is my guy that we're going to see impacting the mets next season
14:51guys garrett stradden he's a lot of fun okay so garrett stradden guys reliever option closer option for
14:57the rombo ponies this guy just can't stop dominating the month of august and 9.2 innings
15:03mind you as a reliever as a save artist he's five for five and save so pulling a little code
15:09i sang out
15:10here if you know you know he's allowed just four hits no earned runs everybody one walk one single
15:16walk and 15 strikeouts an opponent bad average of a buck 29 and a 0.52 whip okay on this
15:23season for
15:24garrett stradden across multiple levels he has just over a two era and 43 games and roughly 60
15:30innings this this has 80 strikeouts a one whip and this was a mets 20th round draft pick last year
15:38out of nowhere so you know how every single year there's prospects that just kind of find themselves
15:43coming through the woodwork that you didn't really know anything about well garrett stradden is that
15:48guy for me this year and shout out garrett follower of the platform i saw him follow me on x
15:51not too
15:52long ago garrett's killing it and i'm excited to see garrett as a potential reliever option
15:56for the new york mets as we get into 2027 the kid cannot stop right now he has been a
16:02literal
16:02lightning rod and has been such a certainty as your save artist for the rumble ponies here
16:07over the past month plus and this comes after he looked very solid during his tenure
16:12with high a brooklyn this season as we continue on from there we got more guys from double a to
16:18talk
16:19about another guy from double a that we got to talk about is going to be yes cory collins now
16:24cory collins another individual that earnest stuff helped put me more on to collins has dealt with
16:28ailment in his early professional career initially a six-round pick by the mets back in 2024 he's
16:33finally putting it all together collins has 16 home runs 57 rbis and 843 ops on the season but the
16:39first base slash corner outfield profile batting from the left side who may very well be the mets future
16:44option at first base because ryan clifford is not looking like he's going to be that guy right now
16:49it might be someone like billy amick who we're going to talk about here shortly too but in the
16:52month of august for the rumble ponies cory collins batted 224 but 406 on base 500 slugger for a 906
17:00ops
17:01the month prior in july he batted 349 with a 945 ops the month prior in high a brooklyn he
17:08batted 264
17:09with a 81 ops consistently the power has been there for cory coming off of the best month of
17:15his professional career with power with six home runs and 26 games for the rumble ponies that includes
17:20a total of 16 rbis we saw 22 walks to just 26 strikeouts for cory so again he's looking more
17:29schwarber-esque out here a little low on the bank average a little high on the slug and the ops
17:33but
17:34this is a weapon everybody who again some scouts are bullish has one of the best eyes in all the
17:39mets organization we'll see how much that holds true for collins as he continues to develop but
17:43naturally if you have not been paying at all any attention to cory collins i implore you all to do
17:48so now because he's someone as we get into 2027 is going to be in that mix as a potential
17:53future
17:54first base option for the new york mets and listen ryan clifford is a guy that we thought would be
17:59that
17:59guy for the mets this year at some point sadly he struck out a million more times than he has
18:04gotten
18:04contact with baseball and that's why he's not even in syracuse as the mets have deferred him to
18:08essentially their development area so he's not technically demoted but he's not actively with
18:13the syracuse mets playing in games either it's really just to kind of fine-tune his game and see if
18:17they can get him out of the bad rut he's found himself in for the majority of the summer but
18:22cory collins a lot to like about him as is the case with our next guy here we're going to
18:27another
18:28pitcher and rj gordon okay rj gordon broke out for the new york mets last season that we saw in
18:33the
18:33minor leagues and that's why he's in our discussion he's currently ranked as the mets 30th top prospect
18:38per mlb pipeline something that if you asked me a year ago i wouldn't have agreed with because last
18:43season we saw rj gordon pitch to a 3.3 year rate in 128 innings across two different levels this
18:49year
18:49it's fluctuated but he's getting more back in a groove rj began the year with injury unfortunately
18:55and that through wrenching of things but now he's back playing like the guy that we saw
19:00ooh and ah for mets fans in the minor leagues a year ago in the month of august rj gordon
19:05across
19:05five games five starts 29 innings 21 hits allowed 10 runs only seven of them are in a one home
19:13run
19:14allowed throughout this stretch to just 10 walks and a point bad average below the mendoza line a whip
19:18just over one and a 2.17 year rate throughout that stretch for context rj has not looked nearly as
19:25good on the consistency front in previous months this year this is far and away the best
19:29month that rj has had yet and the farm and that's massive because again when you think of the
19:34jonathan santucci's the jack wennegars the jonathan's to the rj gordons to when he finally gets himself more
19:41right because he's been up down this year due to injury the will watsons of the world so on and
19:45so
19:45forth to um the the hurtados of the world who did not look as good as lately in high a
19:52brooklyn the
19:52southpaw but has been dominant all season long the mets have a nice little laundry list of exciting
19:58pitching talent and rj is in that conversation so i would love to hear from you mets fans watching
20:03this your thoughts on rj gordon because i think he's absolutely someone that should he trend like
20:07this we'll get to syracuse sooner than later and then we'll be talking next season as to will he be
20:12deserving of the call at some point now to go back from talking about rj gordon now let's talk about
20:17more
20:18on the front of a first base slash dh profile and if it ain't gonna be cory collins let's talk
20:24billy
20:24amic who billy and the month of august billy barrels william barrels however you want to call
20:29him just can't stop hitting home runs guys billy amic who was acquired in the trade along with uh
20:35benny pardon me benny agbiani's son and bruin who is officially activate after being out with injury
20:39for most of the year and the trade for aj mentor guys billy barrels 35 home runs 104 rbis this
20:47year
20:47across multiple levels a 226 average but at 865 ops guys we have a right-handed heading ryan clifford right
20:54here that potentially has higher upside okay he strikes out a boatload just like ryan clifford
20:58but when he's not striking out he's tearing the literal cover off of baseballs and the month of
21:03august for mr amic across two different levels in double a and triple a 23 games we're looking at 11
21:11home runs for billy 30 rbis eight walks 253 average 330 on base 655 slug gets good for just under
21:20a
21:211 000 ops guys and to begin the month of september he's batting 500 throughout his first couple of
21:26games including a home run because of course you knew he's going to home run hit a home run billy
21:30amic has literally hit if i'm not mistaken 11 if not 12 home runs and that's organization since they
21:36acquired him literally a calendar month ago that's crazy so the home run power has been there and it's
21:42a lot a lot of that stands to say is billy amic could be our first base option next year
21:46my answer to
21:46that is he got to get that strikeout rate below 30 right that's what it comes down to the strikeouts
21:52will be the bugaboo right billy for the home runs he's hit he struck out a lot too he struck
21:58out 35
21:58times 35 times is just eight walks for context in the month of august okay it's it's it's feast for
22:06fam it's all or nothing with billy barrels here but nonetheless awesome stuff i'm excited to see more
22:11of him he's been i think he's looking like the hardest hitter in the mets organization not named ryan
22:15clifford which is good because amic is putting up numbers eerily similar to a prospect the mets
22:20traded a year ago who also has over 30 home runs this year north of 100 rbis and that's jesus
22:25bias
22:25who's in the st louis cardinals organization jesus bias yes the mets traded in the ryan helsley deal
22:31it bothered me then as a fan it bothers me 10 times more now again you win some you lose
22:36some at least
22:36the mets are recouping some assets that they lost after trading away nine plus prospects at what was a
22:41failed 2025 trade deadline as we continue on from billy let's get on to our next player in this
22:47discussion and our next player is also our second to last player and that is another player who's
22:53currently for the syracuse mets after being moved up recently like billy and that's my favorite
22:58prospect on this entire list today and that's emilion petrie emilion petrie was literally just
23:02anointed to the all minor league baseball breakout team for 2026 after what he was just able to do in
23:09case you guys don't know emilion petrie is a hits machine okay and in the month of august for petrie
23:15who i firmly believe will be the mets starting second basement next year i think he's going to
23:19crack this team out of camp and i think that will be the route for the mets to go down
23:22he's such a
23:22hitting savant such a perfect line drive header going gap to gap but petrie who the mets acquired in
23:28the freddie peralta trade as he was the lowest ranked prospect in that deal and now he's the highest
23:32ranked prospect since he's been acquired in the organization he's better than gary gill hill better than
23:36aiden smith this kid it looks like our future second baseman and petrie in 20 games we saw i saw
23:42between double a and triple a 351 average 409 on base 403 slug good for 812 ops that included a
23:51total
23:51of no home runs but we saw nine rbis seven walks to eight strikeouts again guys the guy doesn't strike
23:57out at all two stolen bags but has a bunch of stolen bases on the season as we see our
24:03guy here and mr
24:04million petrie with five total home runs 54 rbis on the year 315 average 867 ops but as a whole
24:11though again petrie knows how to run if we take a look at how many stolen bags he has this
24:16season
24:16alone he has 34 just hasn't done a whole lot in the mets organization yet but the hit tools
24:21have most certainly been there i love a million petrie i think he's absolutely the future of the
24:26mets at second base i think the mets are going to give quite the leash to him when it is
24:30the right
24:30opportunity to do so a former second round pick just a couple years ago from the raise that they
24:34gave up on way too soon and they did that because they messed with his hitting approach last year
24:40and around 120 games petrie struck out 100 times and that really dropped his stock as a prospect
24:46this year he's completely changed the script and he's only struck out what how many times oh yeah guys
24:52a total of 48 and 107 games so why did he get that strikeout rate and basically less than half
24:59or more than half it's because he went back to his initial hitting approach they tried to have petrie
25:03hit for more power last year that's not his game okay and while he did have nine home runs it
25:08doesn't
25:09matter i'm taking a guy that's buying 315 with a consistent 800 and 900 ops every day of the week
25:14over a guy that's buying 270 with a 700 to 750 ops because he's swinging and missing more okay petrie
25:20is
25:20all the profile to be an everyday player at the major league level i think if he was caught up
25:23by
25:23the mets today he would be a more viable option than marcus simian and i'll stand on that every
25:28level he's been at he's been a hitting savant we should expect a little to no different at the
25:31major league level barring changes i love him alien petrie and if you guys haven't been paying
25:35attention to him you better because he's a stud last but not least let's go all the way to high
25:39a brooklyn for aiden robbins mets third round draft pick who was one of the best sluggers in all
25:46this year's draft many people were deeming as one of the biggest steals the mets acquired and
25:50robbins all the way in the third round well talk about making a solid impression for the major
25:55leagues and 17 games in the month of august to begin his professional career after being drafted
25:59just a month or so ago by the mets we saw robbins put up a 262 average at 822 ops
26:04including four home
26:05runs 13 rbis and 10 walks to 18 strikeouts and the month of september now with high a brooklyn just
26:12smacked himself a towering home run dead center that very few guys can do in high a brooklyn
26:16at that cyclone stadium the power is tremendous it is real and aiden robbins again another kid
26:22coming from college i do not think it's going to take him long in the major leagues i think as
26:27a
