00:00Well done as always, Greg. It's the picks and we are back for another season. I won
00:06this by 10 games a year ago. Come on, guys. It was very much like the Tigers. It's a bad
00:12division, so don't celebrate too much. Yeah, I was two games over 500 and one easy. So
00:17I'm looking at you. Step up. Let's do it. AJ Barner did score the first touchdown in
00:22the Super Bowl, by the way. So good pick by Jim. Okay. We're going to start Friday night.
00:27The U national title hopes travel to Leland Stanford Junior University to
00:33take on the Cardinal Miami favored by 24 and a half points. Jim, it's a lot of
00:38points. A top 10 team has lost to an unranked team six straight years in the
00:45opening week. This is cross-country. Two-thirds of the public blindly on the
00:49Hurricanes. Give me the nerds. Oh, two-thirds of the public blindly on the
00:54Hurricanes. Come on. I mean, old friend Davis Warren, we saw how he handles speed
01:00and sophisticated defenses. And no, Hawaii is not a sophisticated defense.
01:05Speed kill. Sorry, Davis. I'm going with Miami. They travel out there and they make
01:10a statement early.
01:11So Stanford doesn't have like an official mascot. Their unofficial mascot is
01:16literally a tree. And did you know that every year the student who wears that
01:20costume has to hand make it? So it always looks different every single year.
01:24So they have to get duct tape and chicken wire and felt, whatever they're going to
01:29use. Stop it. Brawners on the way. Maybe. So yeah, I just can't get behind a school
01:33that relies on a DIY mascot. Give me the Hurricanes. Fun fact about the tree. It is not
01:39the school's mascot. It is the band's mascot. Wow. I did a deep dive on that mascot last
01:44night. Cross-country, sleepy atmosphere. Big programs like the U. They
01:50love the hostile atmosphere going in and showing people what's what. They're not
01:56going to get that. They are going to get that sleepy energy and might return it.
02:00Give me my king, Davis Warren and the Cardinal. I'm going with Greg and Jim
02:05here. Greg has been very passionate about Stanford covering this game because I
02:10remember it came up, I think something last week. Also Stanford 5-1-1 as a home dog
02:15against the spread in their last seven. Oh, it's Avita Pritchard got them rolling.
02:20Saturday primetime. Rematch of last year's game in Death Valley. It's another Death
02:25Valley game. We're just going to Baton Rouge for this one. It's Clemson at, as
02:29Vern Lundquist would call them, Louisiana State. LSU's favored by 10 and a half
02:33points. John? Favored by 10 and a half with a myriad of distractions. And I think LSU
02:40ultimately wins this game. I think Clemson covers it. And Clemson, they've dipped
02:45their toe into the transfer portal, but where they didn't dip their toe is their quarterback,
02:50Christopher Vizinha. He has earned and he has stayed. He has developed. Now his first
02:57start being down there, it's going to be a tough environment, but I think he plays well
03:01enough to keep it within 10 and a half. So give me the Tigers of Clemson.
03:07I am going with LSU. Did you know that before their games, they feed their mascot
03:13tiger like tons of meat, like 10 to 15 pounds of meat in the shape of the
03:18opponent's like logo? Yeah. So he's gassy by halftime? He's literally devouring
03:22them. So they're eating a tiger? The tiger's eating the tiger? Because it's tigers
03:26on tiger slide. I don't think they're eating tiger meat, but sure. Greg? All of this hype
03:35with Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss coming to LSU. Oh, the resources. Oh, Daquan Wright
03:42and company coming back from practice squads. Not so fast. How about a last stand for Davo?
03:49Give me Clemson. I'm going to go with LSU here. I think it's all going to come to fruition
03:53in this game for LSU. And I wouldn't be surprised if they win by three touchdowns. I do wonder
03:57how Clemson is going to score points in this game. Yeah, I've heard Lane Kiffin's actually
04:02bringing Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase back for this game. Oh, okay. So I'm taking the LSU
04:06Tigers. Okay. To Sunday night, Notre Dame traveled to Lambeau Field to take on the Wisconsin
04:14Badgers. Notre Dame's favored by 20 and a half. Heather Park. I'm going to choose Notre
04:21Dame. No reasons. I just, the luck of the Irish, I guess. As good a reason as any. I heard
04:28an adage in gambling once that don't bet a team to cover that you do not believe can
04:35win the game. Wisconsin is baked. They cannot win this game. Give me Notre Dame. I'm going
04:42to go with Wisconsin here. There's just so many points in a first game. Rust, slow starts
04:47in the first half, backdoor cover and play. I'll take the Badgers. Notre Dame famously ugly
04:54early in the season. Since 2022, they are three and five in the first two weeks with losses
04:59to Marshall and NIU. Badgers will play defense. 20's a lot of points. Give me Wisconsin. Will
05:05they? Yeah. I don't. Will they even play defense? Will they? I mean, like, I just, I have no
05:12faith in Wisconsin. Give me CJ Carr. Give me the fighting Irish. And they go in there and
05:19they're focused. They have been preparing for this game since early December. They decided,
05:24eh, we're not going to play in a bowl game. We want to focus on next year. They make a
05:28statement
05:28early. Ole Miss, as six and a half point favorites, play Louisville. This is a neutral site game
05:34being played in Nashville. Possibly the best football game being played in Nashville this season.
05:40You know, a lot of, a lot of talk is about, uh, Trinidad Chambliss coming back for a year.
05:45I don't know, six now. I want to give a spot and a, uh, little highlight to his backfield
05:51mate, Kiwan Lacy, who's also back. Give me Ole Miss. I like Ole Miss here strictly because
05:57I heard, uh, Paul Sarah the other day bragging that he thinks, uh, Chambliss is going to win
06:00the Heisman. Paul's a smart guy. Give me Ole Miss. Neutral site. I think Louisville runs
06:05the ball and surprises people. Give me the cards. I, I think Ole Miss is going to try and
06:11go out there and make a statement. I've said that a couple of times and that's what you do
06:15in, in week one. You set the tone for the year. They wanted, they want everyone to know
06:19that, Hey, we don't miss Lane Kiffin. We don't miss any of those players that left the coaching
06:23staff that left. We are here. Trinidad Chambliss. He, I don't think he ultimately wins the Heisman,
06:28but it's experience, talent, motivation. I think he comes out, lights the world on fire
06:33and I'm excited to see this Ole Miss team play. I'm going with Ole Miss too.
06:39Oh, okay. You basically all said the same things I was going to say. Okay. Exactly. You took the
06:44words out of my mouth. She's a huge Trinidad Chambliss fan. I wrote his name down. He's
06:48local Grand Rapids. Yeah. Yeah. Let's root for him. New feature this year. We've got the Gardner
06:53White sleeper pick. Find your perfect sleep partner at Gardner White. And I'm going to go
06:56with Baylor versus Auburn. Auburn's favored by seven and a half. This is a neutral site game
07:02as well. Mercedes-Benz Stadium down in Georgia. The Baylor quarterback, DJ Lagway returns to his,
07:10what we thought was going to be a five-star quarterback. I don't know if they ultimately
07:14win this game. They very well could because you've got a brand new coaching staff with Alex Golish,
07:19a new roster, neutral site game. I think DJ Lagway, a healthy DJ Lagway, finds a way to overcome the
07:27chaos that they had in Florida, the injuries that he had. He starts the year off with the
07:32big performance. Give me Baylor. And Atlanta as a neutral site is a really good place to watch a
07:38football game. That has a lot of energy to it. I agree. Let's go local here. Central Michigan fire
07:43up chips. They're firing up the jet into Albuquerque to take on New Mexico. Lobo is favored by 10 and
07:48a
07:48half points. Gov. So we're putting this game on the on the board and not Eastern bias. You don't
07:53support your school. Shut up. I know. I don't know much about this game whatsoever. And I did a
07:59little research and apparently the Chippewas have an angel at quarterback. I'll take them.
08:05Both teams are going to play multiple QBs. I think it could be disjointed. I was impressed.
08:08CMU went out West and won in week one last year. Close game. Give me the number. Fire up chips.
08:13Home game. New Mexico. I really couldn't care less about this game. A lot of people think that they
08:19could be a group of six representative in the in the playoffs. Let's start off with a win.
08:25Did you know that Central Michigan's football program was originally called
08:29the Dragons? Yes, I did. Wow. Did you really? I did. I had no idea. That was back in 1925.
08:35Did
08:35you know what mascot came after that? No. The Bearcat? Oh. Lame. Just like the school. Just
08:43like their parties. How dare you? Give me New Mexico. New Mexico is going to be dragging Central
08:48Michigan all over the field. Give me the Lobos. Toledo at Michigan State tonight. The Spartans
08:54favored by 10 and a half points. John is shaking in his boots as the Pat Fitzgerald
09:00era begins in East Lansing gym. Both programs of a first year coach. Major roster turnover. I have
09:05no idea. I'll take the Spartans. I'm going to take the Spartans as well. And I think Mike Jacobs
09:11is a great hire. There's no one that that seems to get a higher right. The research that they've
09:16done. Did you know that that's where Nick Saban, Matt Campbell, Jason Candle all got their their
09:22start. I believe they got it right, but just not yet. Give me Michigan State. Go green.
09:30No faith in Toledo. I think Michigan State's going to come out and play really good, solid
09:33football. Yeah, I'll take the Spartans. You guys all took Michigan State. I'm going to go
09:38on Rocket Island. I think Michigan State will play a conservative even if they do have success
09:43in this game. Aren't the Rockets favored to win the Mac? No, I don't think so. I thought
09:47they were supposed to be one of the better. I think it's our next team. So much for the blue
09:51wall. Defending Mac champs. Green wall, apparently. Go ahead. Finally, Saturday night,
09:58730, Big Ten Saturday night. Western Michigan takes on the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan's
10:05favored by 27 and a half points. Let's go to Mr. Michigan, John. Great warm up for what they're
10:10going to see with John Mateer in Oklahoma. Brock Lowry, dual threat quarterback, ran for nearly a
10:14thousand yards last year, 14 touchdowns. Keep your eye on him. He's a threat. Reigning
10:19Mac Offensive Player of the Year. But I think Michigan is going to come out. They want to show
10:24what all the hype and all the talk about Bryce Underwood, the receivers that have come in.
10:29There's going to be some explosive plays. There's going to be some quick scores. So I do think
10:33that they win. I think that they cover and we move on to Oklahoma. Yeah, I kind of agree
10:38with you, but I'm going to pick Western just because that's where my husband went to college.
10:43Go Broncos. And I'm sure Michigan sucks too, Heather.
10:48Yeah, I'm going to go back to the adage that I said for the Notre Dame-Wisconsin game. I don't
10:52believe Western Michigan can win the game, so I'll pick Michigan to cover. I'm going to go Western
10:56here because Doug Karsh told me he expects to be a slow start to the game for Michigan. Come on
11:01in
11:01the second half. That's a lot of points. I'll take the Broncos. Reigning Mac champs, returning
11:06production, mobile quarterback. Give me not Michigan. Those are the picks. It's 97-1.
