here I talk about if the kamen rider franchise has a chance to get another american adaptation once again
Transcript
00:00Yo, what's going on guys? This is Comrade64.
00:02How guys are doing today? I'm back with another video.
00:06And so for this video right here, I'm going to be talking about
00:11does Comrader has a potential chance to be adopted again?
00:15And like, should it be adopted again?
00:19What are the chances that it has, you know?
00:22And should it be adopted again?
00:25Well, so for those of you that don't know, Comrader is a very popular
00:32popular franchise, you know, from Toy.
00:38You know, it's a Japanese franchise, you know, it's been around since the 70s, basically, you know.
00:44You know, it's been going on for a long time, you know.
00:47It ran from the 70s to the late 80s.
00:51And it took a break during the 90s, and then it got, came back in the early 2000s.
00:56So, uh, start of the century, the new century production to this day.
01:01Um, with Comrade Kuga in the year 2000, and it's been running non-stop since then.
01:10And, you know, you know, we, and it has like a lot of seasons.
01:14Uh, and the re-, the, the recent season, Comrader is this, uh, and it, and then it's run, uh, earlier
01:23this week on Sunday.
01:25And, and, and next up, coming up is Comrader Mice.
01:30Mice.
01:31That's coming up soon.
01:32That's going to be the next installment.
01:35And that's going to be premiering tomorrow, or tonight, you know.
01:39Depending on what time, time, time zone it is.
01:43You know.
01:44So, Comrader has been going on non-stop, you know.
01:47And, and, I am a diehard Comrade fan, you know, and hence that's the name.
01:53That's my name, you know.
01:55Uh, you know, I have some Comrade memorabilia right here.
01:59You know, uh, I'll show you just in a sec.
02:02You know, I can show, I think I'll show you right now.
02:14Alright.
02:15There's my phone right there, see?
02:18Sorry that my camera isn't focusing right now.
02:26I really, I really do apologize.
02:31Oh, actually, this is my brother's camera.
02:39There you are, now you're focusing.
02:41Thank God.
03:01That's what my Comrade memorabilia has so far.
03:04Well, uh, these Zed's capsule things were actually my brother's, but he ended up giving them to me.
03:11He didn't want them anymore.
03:16So, yeah, that's my Comrade memorabilia, uh, so far.
03:19But, I think I have others, but, you know, I think, no, I think this is all I have so
03:24far right now.
03:26I think, double check, I probably might forget any, but if I do, um, sorry.
03:30We don't.
03:31Alright.
03:33So, yeah, um, so that's all the memorabilia I have so far.
03:37Now, I'm going to be talking about what are the chances that the series has, again, another American adaptation.
03:44Now, apparently, there have been two attempts to adapt Comrade over here in the U.S.
03:50Uh, first was Saban's Mass Rider, which aired back in 1995.
03:55Um, you know, it was adapted from Comrade BlackRx.
04:00Now, unfortunately, Saban's Mass Rider, unfortunately, underperformed.
04:05You know, it did terribly, it had low ratings, you know, the toys sold poorly, and apparently, um, it aired
04:13on Fox Kids, and only the first couple episodes aired on Fox Kids, and then, because the ratings were low,
04:20they ended up dumping the remaining episodes on syndication, you know, and, um, so, and then it will continue its
04:29run on syndication with the remaining of those last couple episodes.
04:36And, um, and apparently, uh, apparently syndication, they aired episodes out of order, unfortunately, you know, and certain episodes were
04:43aired differently out of order, out of place, you know.
04:49Saban's Mass Rider, you know, and, you know, Mass Rider first made an appearance in, in the season three opening
04:55three-parter of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, uh, a friend in need, and that was a backdoor pilot to his
05:00series, but the finalized TV series actually has no connection to,
05:05to the friend in need three-parter, because it's totally different from the friend in need three-parter, uh, because,
05:12you know, in the friend in need three-parter,
05:14because, you know, in the friend in need three-parter, Dex, the main character who transforms into Mass Rider, he's
05:17actually related to,
05:19the main, he, in, in the, in the season three three-parter of friend in need, Dex, he's basically, um,
05:27he's basically, he's basically, he has no relation to the main villain at all,
05:31you know, but in the finalized TV series, he, it, he is related to the main villain, the main villain
05:36is his uncle, the main villain, Count Dragon.
05:40So, that is kind of like a, somewhat of a difference right there, you know.
05:45But, despite the fact that Saban's Mass Rider failed, you know, and it was a commercial fail,
05:50so, uh, Comrade, they got a shot in, again, another American adaptation, years later, in 1990, I don't know what
05:58I mean, 2000,
05:59in, in the, late 2000s, you know, with Comrade Dragonite, which was adapted from, uh, Comrade Ryuki.
06:08Comrade Dragonite aired in 2009, well, it had its first episode made up, premiered in late 2008,
06:14and then aired fully throughout 2009, you know.
06:20Unfortunately, Dragonite didn't perform well either, but, uh, you know, it, it too got low ratings.
06:26But, I think Dragonite, the reason why Dragonite failed was because of something different.
06:31Dragonite, unfortunately, you know, was just a victim of just, you know, poor marketing and bad time slot, you know.
06:40It aired on a block that not many people watched, you know, it aired on the CW4Ks,
06:46and CW4Ks kept changing to time slots, and that kept messing things up.
06:51And, unfortunately, the show, the toys for the show came out a little too late, unfortunately, you know.
06:58So, Comrade Dragonite suffered from bad marketing, you know, bad schedule, and also, you know, the toys coming out too
07:12late,
07:12and also, you know, being on a block that wasn't as popular as other blocks aired at the time, you
07:18know.
07:20So, like, cable channels and such.
07:22So, Comrade Dragonite, unfortunately, failed.
07:26But Comrade Dragonite, between the two, was actually pretty good, because Comrade Dragonite was actually a really good show.
07:33Unlike Saban Smash Rider, which was just, Saban Smash Rider was basically just, was more of a comedy, you know.
07:43Saban Smash Rider was more of a comedy show than an action show.
07:45But Dragonite, basically, is a show to what, showed what a Comrade adaptation could be.
07:52But not only a Comrade adaptation, but also an American adaptation, you know, of a toki show.
07:57That, you know, these American toki-zaki adaptations, whether they be, um, Power Rangers, VR Supers, Big Bad Media Borgs,
08:04or any of the Comrade adaptations that I mentioned, you know.
08:07You know, they show that, you know, that these shows don't have to be, can't be cheesy, corny, toned down,
08:15you know.
08:15You know, kids shows, you know, they can be serious at times.
08:20They can have more mature, you know, mature storytelling.
08:24And, and death to them, have more death to them, and stuff like that, you know.
08:28And be, and even be geared towards an older audience, too.
08:32Because these adaptations have mostly been geared towards kids, as well, kids.
08:36You know, but they can be geared towards, like, an older audience, like, teenagers and adults.
08:40And I think that's what Dragonite was going for.
08:43For.
08:43I'll, I also forgot to mention, screw him, he said, my cyber squad.
08:46I forgot to mention that one, that's American, that's not American, that's two adaptations as well.
08:52Yeah, so, Comrade so far has only had two American adaptations.
08:56You know, one good and one, you know, one not so good and one good.
09:00One good and one not so good, you know.
09:02And Comrade Dragonite, surprisingly enough, actually won a daytime Emmy for outstanding stunt quarries.
09:08Stunt quarries and something like that.
09:11It is true.
09:13And Comrade Dragonite was such a really good show.
09:15That show really needs to come back.
09:17And that show is pretty obscure, not how many people know about it, honestly.
09:21I just think that show definitely needs to come back.
09:23It really does.
09:24And needs to have, like, a, a completely serious release, you know.
09:28Maybe Boom Studios can do something with Comrade Dragonite and maybe adapt it into the comics, you know.
09:34Kinda like how they've been adapting Power Rangers and VR Troopers.
09:38Now, I'm going to be talking about what are the chances that Comrade has a chance of being adapted again
09:43for the American,
09:44for the American market, for us Americans.
09:48Or maybe even Canada, you know, something like that.
09:50But, um, chances are, to be honest, chances are, are very slim.
09:56And, to be honest, it's probably never going to happen because Comrade has been, you know,
10:04Comrade has basically been, you know, introduced here in the West in a way, you know.
10:09Comrade has now been marketed as, you know, has kind of been marketed,
10:15and it's kind of, it's been all shown here over in the West.
10:18Unlike how it was back in the day.
10:21They, you know.
10:23Because now, now, since that people can easily just watch Comrade and just get into it, you know.
10:30That does, doesn't feel like a need to, uh, Americanize it nowadays, honestly.
10:37However, I do think, in my opinion, this, this is just me.
10:41And this is probably just something of what I want, but.
10:44I would love to see another Comrade I tasted.
10:46I really would.
10:48Now, sure, you know, there, there, you know, there isn't a need for it anymore.
10:52Because we're getting it locally here.
10:54But I still think it would be cool to see.
10:57And, plus, despite the fact that Comrade is actually being brought over here to the West, you know.
11:04You know, we're actually getting, getting it over here.
11:07Or, but, the truth is guys, I feel like, you know, the franchise itself is still kind of, still kind
11:16of niche in a way.
11:17So, a bit, a bit niche, niche in a way, you know.
11:21I still think the franchise is pretty much just like a, still a niche thing, you know.
11:30Kind of like how anime was kind of niche, like back in the day, like back in the, the early,
11:34the late 90s, early 2000s, you know.
11:37If you, if, if you were to like anime, you'd be like that's kind of a weirdo, weirdo or something.
11:42But now, anime is pretty much almost like a global phenomenon at this point.
11:46Everyone loves anime.
11:47Anime has become, you know, top notch, you know, the, the number one main, you know.
11:52One of the, one of the number one main sources of entertainment now, you know.
11:57It's no longer look as like a niche thing.
12:00And maybe Comrade will probably get there too.
12:04But, you know, there's a part of me that's so like to see another American adaptation.
12:11That's probably just what I, I want, you know, I don't know.
12:13There's, I'm a second for American adaptation, Tokusashi adaptations, you know.
12:17Power Rangers, Big Bad Beatty Borgs, VR Supers, you know.
12:21Superhumans that are established by it.
12:23The Comrade adaptations, you know.
12:26And also, there's also Armorsores, you know.
12:29So, which aired on Disney XD, and which is adapted by not a Japanese Tokusashi series, but a South Korean
12:38Tokusashi series called Armorsores.
12:41Armorsores, you know.
12:45And now, and speaking of Armorsores, that kind of got me thinking that maybe, since that, that is being, that's
12:51being adapted from another, a show from another country, an Asian-themed country.
12:57This kind of gets me thinking that maybe Comrade could possibly have a chance to maybe get adapted again, you
13:07know.
13:07And maybe other Tokusashi shows, you know, from other countries, not just from Japan, but also, you know, from China
13:15as well, you know.
13:17Could we, could we see Xtreme Bataar get adapted maybe?
13:23Any of those? Who knows?
13:27You know, the possibilities seem very endless at this point, honestly, you know.
13:31But that's just me, you know.
13:34You know, I think it would be cool to see another Comrade out of TC, you know.
13:39As for series that I think that could work, I think they'll probably go with any seasons from the real
13:44era, because, you know.
13:46Some of the older seasons, I mean, sure, they still can be adapted, but I do think, you know, they'll
13:52probably want to go with something more modern and recent, you know.
13:55The more modern, the better.
13:57The ones that I could probably see adapted will be, I would say Comrade 01.
14:04I think Comrade 01, you know, Comrade 01, not only being the first star of the railroad era, you know,
14:11but also, I do think Comrade 01 does look like, it could work and be appealing for the West, for
14:21the modern audience, you know.
14:23So, that's what I think, you know.
14:26It's a techno theme and stuff like that.
14:29But that's just what I think, you know.
14:31Another season I think that can definitely work, and will definitely work, I think, will definitely be Comrade Geach.
14:38Comrade Geach, for sure, I do think, because Comrade Geach kind of has a bit of a Fortnite feel to
14:44it.
14:44And Fortnite is, let's be honest, it's arguably widely very popular all around the world.
14:51Excuse me.
14:53You know, Fortnite is pretty much like a global phenomenon, you know.
14:57And Comrade Geach definitely has that feel to it.
15:00I can definitely see Comrade Geach as, you know, being adapted for the West, you know, for sure, you know.
15:09And Comrade Geach does look like it can sell well, you know.
15:14And Comrade Geach has a lot of riders, which is one of the reasons why Comrade Ryuki was chosen to
15:19be adapted.
15:20Adapted when Adnet Entertainment, the company that made Comrade Dragonite were decided to adapt it.
15:26Ryuki was out of four rider series I've considered for an American adaptation.
15:30Ryuki, Faiz, Blade, and Kabuto.
15:32And Ryuki ended up winning because Ryuki had the most amount of riders.
15:37And also, after, they weren't, Adnet Entertainment did say that they were looking at Adeptly Comrade next.
15:43And maybe having, you know, Len from Comrade Dragonite be the main character become Comrade Comrade.
15:50You know.
15:52And maybe Geach was going to be Comrade Attack, maybe, I don't know.
15:56And, you know.
15:58So, yeah.
16:01So, and Geach, so Geach, like Ryuki, has a lot of riders.
16:04So, I can definitely see Comrade Geach as maybe as a possible series to be adapted.
16:11That's just me.
16:12And also, and also another series that I can see adapted, that the series after Comrade Geach.
16:20Uh, Comrade-
16:22Uh, what's it called?
16:26Comrade-
16:27I forgot what it was called.
16:29Comrade-
16:32Hold on.
16:33I need, I need fun.
16:34I'm gonna look it up.
16:35I'm gonna look it up right, right now.
16:36It's the series that came out after Comrade Geach.
16:41Geach.
16:41Just.
16:42I'm looking at it right now.
16:43I'm sorry.
16:44I just said I'm.
16:45Comen Rider.
16:49Yeah.
16:50Comrade Geach.
16:50Yep.
16:51Comen Rider Geach.
16:53Com-
16:53Com-
16:54Com-
16:54Com-
16:55Com-
16:56Comrade Geach.
16:57I can definitely see Comrade Geach.
16:59I can definitely see Comrade Geach as a series that can work well for American United Station.
17:03Geach.
17:03Geach-
17:04Geach-
17:04It looks like it can definitely fit well.
17:06You know.
17:06I think the whole theme around it is really good.
17:09And all.
17:10You know.
17:10The writers, the super designers are really sick.
17:13But to be honest.
17:15I'm not sure.
17:16There is one problem I think that would probably hold Comrade Geach back from maybe
17:20possibly getting adapted.
17:22You know.
17:22Uh, there's Com-
17:24Um, Com-
17:26I think that's that's his name. He's basically resemblant resemblance of
17:31Comrade or Decade and Comrade Decade is basically an anniversary series you
17:38know the show Comrade Decade is obviously mostly an anniversary series so
17:44you know well I guess though if Garchar did got adopted you know if Comrade
17:52Legends were his name is I forgot you know if he was adopted they don't have
17:55to make a reference and transform into past writers or something because like
18:00Comrade Decade if Comrade Decade did it got an American adaptation the only way
18:06it could have worked if the other writers Kuga up to Kiva if they all got
18:09adopted first and then Comrade Decade can be like an anniversary series you know
18:15that's the only way I could see a Decade adaptation working you know but we're
18:19kind of long past you know the Heisei era and even the neo Heisei era you
18:25know so the chances of that happening seems very slim you know Comrade or Zio being the
18:31last of the neo Heisei era you know so yeah you know those are the writer series I can see
18:44possibly getting adapted you know and also now also I think I can I can also see
18:49Comrade Zets get adapted as well because Comrade Zets now Comrade Zets is said to
18:55take a lot of inspiration from American like you know like superheroes and stuff
19:01like that and Comrade Zets is actually one of the first writer series to be
19:05localized for America so that right there is that I think Zets can be the easy
19:11series to just bring over and just adapt you know you know sure Zets now since it does
19:18seem recent but that's fine because you know we can probably maybe I can probably see we
19:23think we can probably see Zets adaptation like you know they can decide to adapt to Zets like
19:27maybe in 2028 or 2029 you know 2027 maybe I don't know but I think you know I think you
19:39know you
19:39know they will want to do something the more recent the better you know and now Hasbro you know
19:47I'll talk with a little bit but if Hasbro if Hasbro has you know owns the rest of the power
19:52as a
19:52franchise and they have there at this point are not doing any Senta adaptations but if they ever do
19:59decide to go back to doing Senta adaptations they'll probably go with any of the more recent ones like
20:04you know I think they'll probably go with either Boom Boom Jer or King Gold Jer uh go or maybe
20:11before that
20:12you know Karen Major maybe I don't see them doing Zen Kaijer and Don Brothers you know because how
20:19different they are and um now Gol Zuzer they could do Gol Zuzer but Gol Zuzer has this is basically
20:31an
20:31anniversary like season so so I don't think you know I don't think Gol Zuzer could probably work
20:39unless if they want to like just like take out the anniversary aspect like transforming in past
20:45heroes you know if they want to just remove that completely and just do something original you know
20:51then I could probably see it work but other than that I'm not really sure you know and like yeah
20:59like they can I guess they can do like Karen Major and Zoo Older but I think their footage are
21:04too old
21:05at this point I don't see them possibly doing Tel Kujer because unfortunately trains aren't really as
21:10hugely popular over here in the west yeah I mean trains are somewhat popular but
21:16trains is kind of like a niece thing you know it's like a small niece thing and that's what I
21:20kind of
21:20feel like with the Comrade for instance you know that's a very small niece thing you know
21:29so yeah but not in like it and like you know if Comrade does get it adapted I do think
21:35this could
21:36make the part open the gateway to other a Tokuzashi shows from Asian themed countries to get it adapted
21:44you know armor swords you know since that has been adapted that got me thinking that you know the
21:50concept of adapting something for another country can still probably come back you know and it's
21:57feel like well I'm sure that feel like that opens the door to it like opens the door to maybe
22:00Comrade
22:00wants to get it adapted again and maybe Hasbro decided to go back to adapting Super Sentai and maybe
22:07Hasbro could like maybe adapt uh Super Space Seraph Gavin Infinity as like maybe like
22:14like a new season uh a sequel series slash continuation or reboot to VR Troopers you know
22:25a Gavin Infinity adaptation could be to VR Troopers like what Cobra Kai is to the Cry Kid movies you
22:31know
22:31like that kind of franchise that series that is a continuation to this other series other projects
22:37adjusting takes place years later and focus on a new cast of characters you know or like Saved by
22:46the Bell next class whatever it's called you know the grassiness class and all these others like C
22:53sequel shows Girl Meets World you know where they focus on a new a new passion of main characters
22:59that are related to the old characters from the old series from the whole thing you know
23:03something like that that's what I can see you know Space Seraph Gavin Infinity I can see is like
23:08uh sequel series to VR Troopers you know or maybe like you know if they have Ryan, Caitlin,
23:15and JB become come back and become these new VR Troopers you know red silver gold and you know
23:23the Jiraiya looking VR Trooper you know that's his last thing but let me know what you think
23:31do you do you guys think that Comrider should get adapted again do you think there's a chances of it
23:36getting adapted chances are kind of slim because since it's been an offer over here but you know
23:40I still think it'll be cool to see and do you want to see other Tokuzashi shows from other countries
23:45Japan, South Korea, China, and other places like get adapted as well imagine if Armor Heroes
23:52if that ever got adapted you know uh I highly doubt that will get adapted now because the footage is
23:58super old at this point you know I think the monster costumes are kind of gone at this point
24:03they're probably still around but who knows so yeah what do you guys think would you guys like to
24:09see Comrider get adapted again feel free to let me know in the comment section below and so that's
24:14going to be it for this video feel free to like share subscribe and all that jazz and I got
24:17more
24:18videos coming out in the future this is Comrider64 and I'm signing out right out of kick
24:24take it take it easy guys
