00:00I yelled about this a couple weeks ago.
00:02It's not all or nothing, guys.
00:04Like, I can be building towards something.
00:06And there's been times where they have absolutely built towards nothing,
00:09and yet there's a lot of stuff here.
00:11But if you would have given up on Watson,
00:15a lot of people would have been happy for the right now.
00:17I think we'd be very nervous about the future
00:18because we're trying to make this a good landing spot for a young QB next year.
00:23And I can enjoy some of this this year, though.
00:26I know that this year is about next year,
00:28but it doesn't mean I can't stop and smell the roses every now and then,
00:31and I think that Sunday's the day that we smell the roses,
00:34which is interesting because, I mean, I got to take aim at somebody else,
00:38and I hate to do it because I like them,
00:39and I think they're entertaining to me.
00:42But when I'm saying five wins and you're saying four wins,
00:45and then we're getting accused of negativity, I'm like,
00:46well, wait a minute, who's the one who's ripping Todd Munkin up and down
00:49and asking people if it's a one-and-done every year or every day
00:52and saying that they don't trust in Todd anymore?
00:56Or it's taking a big hit because of the Watson stuff,
00:58and they can't think anything of redeeming about Deshaun Watson.
01:02But somehow they have eight wins.
01:06Well, the words of them, show your work.
01:09Well, this issue got brought up with Ross Tucker yesterday,
01:12and, well, this is where I think we need some people
01:15from the fine police officers, the police departments around here
01:21to possibly give us a polygraph test to make sure everything's on the up-and-up
01:26because Ross Tucker thinks that something stinks.
01:28I have the Browns at 8-9, and I have the Steelers at 7-10
01:32and finishing last place in this division.
01:34Which one is the hotter take, Ross?
01:36I do not believe in your heart of hearts
01:39that you think the Browns are winning eight games this year.
01:42I don't believe you.
01:43How do you not in my heart?
01:44You know what we should do on the show?
01:45You know what would really get good ratings?
01:47Let's bring in a retired FBI guy or a cop
01:51and have them bring in a polygraph, a lie detector,
01:55and lie, since you guys are on a new video now,
01:58Nick would do a new video.
01:59He'd pass with flying colors.
02:00Post your video to social media so your social media can go viral.
02:04That would go viral.
02:05You saying on the air that you truly believe with all your heart
02:09the Browns are going to win eight games while you're taking a polygraph.
02:13That I will watch.
02:15If you were asked to justify it during it, you couldn't do it.
02:20You couldn't do it.
02:22I mean, who's been nastier towards the Browns here over the last couple of months?
02:26Has it been me or Nick?
02:28I don't think he's been nasty.
02:30So you think Nick has been nastier?
02:32Yeah.
02:33Okay.
02:33How on earth does he have three more wins than me and four more wins than you,
02:37and he's been way meaner spirited towards the Cleveland Browns than either of us?
02:42I think he's been more nasty towards ownership and Deshaun Watson.
02:46Well, I'm sorry, Jimmy Haslam ain't playing quarterback on Sunday,
02:49but guess who is?
02:50And he ain't had anything good to say about that fella now has he.
02:54So where do you get eight wins?
02:56We're going to save ourselves with Shador Sanders, a guy we didn't want to take?
03:01Well, that was the math that Ross obviously ended up walking him through,
03:05which is the same thing that I had put together.
03:07Like, all right, if they start out 0-2, now all of a sudden they're going to roll off.
03:11Now the schedule, we have all said, schedule is supposed to be one of the easiest in football.
03:17If you just look at the teams and base it on last year, which we know is kind of a
03:20fool's errand.
03:21These teams, some of them fluctuate from year to year.
03:24That's a hallmark of the NFL.
03:25But, I do think Nick believes it.
03:28I do.
03:28I agree with Jonathan.
03:29Like, if he actually had to stand up to the test, then I do think he'd pass it.
03:35I do think he really believes they're going to win it.
03:37I think a lot of it has to do with he's become a big believer, thanks to Jonathan.
03:43It's kind of talked him into Shador Sanders.
03:45Problem is, Shador's not starting the year.
03:47So, what does it look like the first two?
03:49That means they've got to get Deshaun out of there in a hurry for them to get to the eight
03:54wins because he believes Shador is that much better.
03:56So, now we have to catch up with our schedule.
03:59And Shador is going to fix things and take us to eight wins.
04:03Okay, are they watching quarterbacks then for next year?
04:05Because if Shador takes you to eight wins with a roster that is incomplete, then forget about any of that
04:10other stuff.
04:10See, that's, again, you just keep running into walls here about the logic of eight wins.
04:17Like, five wins, five wins.
04:18I can find you five wins.
04:20I really can't find you many more.
04:22And I got Jacksonville on Sunday.
04:24So, when I hear Ross say that, I start laughing my ass off because I'm like, yeah, Ross is kind
04:29of saying what we've been wondering here over the last several months.
04:32I've been able to really pin down a number.
04:34I think it's fluctuated between seven and ten.
04:37If you're staying to eight wins, it's hard to find it.
04:40To get to eight, the offensive line, it really has to be one of the great comeback stories.
04:46Yes, it does.
04:46That I can remember for a Browns team and for most offensive lines.
04:49To overhaul the entire thing.
04:51And now, already, because of the injury, you know, you've got a young guy that is going to be thrust
04:56into a situation where, you know, what do you think Jacksonville and their defensive line is thinking right now?
05:02I mean, they think, they probably think they are going to be able to feast in this opener.
05:06But one thing that we know has to be true, the offensive line has to have a big turnaround.
05:12Because regardless of how you feel about Deshaun Watson or Shador and what the gap is between them or how
05:18much better you think Shador is, Shador is not going to succeed if the offensive line stinks.
05:24He's just not happy.
05:24He's not good enough.
05:25He's not good enough.
05:26I mean, we saw over time, Patrick Mahomes struggle with a bad offensive line.
05:32Like, that's how it normally works for quarterbacks in this league.
05:36So, if Patrick Mahomes struggles when the offensive line goes south, what are our quarterbacks going to do?
05:41I think it's going to be a bit of a struggle.
05:43They have to be good.
05:43Yes, I think it's going to be a bit of a struggle.
05:46Like, if we were on Sports Talk Radio in Jacksonville, which is not something I'd want to do.
05:52But if we were hosted on 92-5 in Jacksonville, we'd be going, man, this front four that's been great
05:57against the run, we're going to be able to stop them.
05:59And Deshaun Watson's afraid of his own shadow.
06:01We're going to get after Deshaun Watson.
06:02Like, I think people in Jacksonville would say that my reasoning is probably flawed just based on dumb luck of
06:08week one.
06:09I can admit that.
06:09Oh, we got Nick here.
06:11Oh, Nick!
06:12He's on the Wise Heart Right We Make It Right call Kyle Wright Hotline.
06:15Nick Wilson, good morning.
06:16Top of the morning, boys.
06:18When did 8-9 become 14-3 for the love of Christ?
06:22For the love of God, you guys are acting like 8-9 is some hallmark moment for the Browns this
06:31year.
06:32I mean, the Vikings had the third-worst quarterback play in the NFL last year, and they were 8-9.
06:38The Panthers were in the damn playoffs.
06:40What did you say?
06:41They had a more complete team than we have right now.
06:44And listen, if you want to say the Browns have too many ifs, I can't really fight you on that.
06:48But I just feel like we're – I feel like somehow saying 8-9 is like I'm out here, like
06:55several of my – there are listeners that say, you know, 12-5 and we're going to the playoffs.
07:02I feel like I'm kind of middle of the road here, 8-9 guys.
07:06That's a great point.
07:07You remind me of the year that I said that they would win five games and they won zero coming
07:11off a 1-15.
07:12And our first call was, I think, Scott Mayfield, who said I was the biggest homer in Cleveland history.
07:17I go, how am I a homer for winning five games?
07:18So I know where you're at on this.
07:20I totally do.
07:22But, Nick, when I hear you ripping – and I feel the same way about the quarterback for the most
07:27part that you do.
07:27I feel the same way about the decision even though I support them in the decision because they see things
07:31that I don't.
07:32There's so many things that I have to agree with you on.
07:34And I'm like, I'm sorry, how does Nick see 8 wins?
07:37Because if you do see 8 wins, then we might as well just tear up these conversations about 2027's quarterbacks
07:43because I think that this is such an incomplete team that can still build.
07:48There is some good – there's good players there that are young.
07:51But if Shador comes in and takes you to 8 wins, let's say, hey, forget it.
07:55Because you're going to end the season on a very positive note than where you started off.
08:00I don't think you have to choose between being competitive and getting the quarterback next year.
08:04I mean, the Chiefs were picking in the 20s and traded up to the 10th pick to get Pat Mahomes.
08:10The Bills were picking, I think, in the 20s and traded up to get Josh Allen.
08:14And I understand that the easiest way to think about this is you suck for luck, right?
08:19You end up getting the best quarterback, but even that doesn't work.
08:23Bryce Young was the number one pick in the draft.
08:26And let's ask our Panthers friends how that's working out.
08:29And listen, again, I understand the ifs are there.
08:33I think the ifs that really need to work out are I think you need to be able to run
08:37the ball.
08:37I think the offensive line needs to stay healthy, which I think I know it's five guys instead of four.
08:42The Bears and the Patriots showed you overhauling the offensive line can happen in one offseason.
08:48And then that defense just needs to not take a massive step back.
08:51I think the defense can even afford a little step back because you have the cupcakeist of cupcake cities for
08:58your schedule this year.
08:59Well, I want to see what they do when it comes to zoning, man,
09:01because I don't think you can play nearly as much man without Myles Garrett as you have in the past.
09:06And according to Grant Delvitt yesterday, they still plan on playing plenty of men.
09:10I will see on Sunday.
09:11But let me go back to something here.
09:12What you said is right.
09:13I've used that same argument, too.
09:15I agree with you.
09:16Chiefs didn't have to tank for Patrick Mahomes.
09:18Bills didn't tank for Josh Hahn.
09:19I get that.
09:20Now, they both had older quarterbacks.
09:21So does that mean if this Browns team that, again, will probably be backloaded with wins if Shador Sanders is
09:28coming in?
09:29Are you willing to dig that trench and stand in there and fight Browns fans coming up this winter
09:35if they do finish at 8-9 after a young quarterback has come in and taken them to 8 wins?
09:41Because I don't think – a lot of people don't think that Deshaun Watson is going to get him any
09:44wins.
09:44I do think they're going to get him one win on Sunday.
09:46Okay?
09:47So seven more wins than what I'm saying with Deshaun Watson.
09:50Seven wins in the back half of the year.
09:53Are you willing to fight against those fans that want to give Shador a chance with that bad off,
10:00with that unproven offensive line, the unprovenness of the wide receivers and everything else?
10:04The questions on defense.
10:05Are you willing to fight those fans this winter to take that quarterback out of college?
10:11I think you know, Ken, that at no point am I not willing to fight.
10:15I hope you are.
10:17I hope you are.
10:18Yeah, it'll be a long winter.
10:19It'll be a real kick in the pants that I go from the rallying cry of we can do 8
10:25-9,
10:25we can do 8-9 to, yeah, bleep that quarterback.
10:29Let's keep Shador here and let's go ahead and trade up for Jeremiah Smith.
10:33I'm ready for those wars, even if it's going to come at a great personal cost.
10:39Fancy in the pants.
10:40All right, Nick.
10:40Well, you know what?
10:41The challenge is out there.
10:42You responded to it.
10:43I thank you very much.
10:44I hope you do it this afternoon.
10:45Appreciate you guys.
10:47Appreciate you.
10:48Nick Wilson.
