00:12Yeah, man, it's good to get a W.
00:13I think any time in week one you play a good team and come out with a W,
00:17it feels really good.
00:18Yeah, I think kind of exactly how I thought after the game.
00:22We left a lot out there, a ton out there.
00:25Certainly offensively, that could have really broken the game open,
00:27I thought, when we were up 21-0.
00:30And didn't capitalize on that short, short field possession there.
00:32That kind of, you know, changed the momentum in the game.
00:36If we're able to score there, I think it really does bust wide open.
00:39But, you know, we've got the W and we're happy with it.
00:41As a quarterback, when you see that you've left a lot out there,
00:45I know it's not necessarily a bad thing because it gives you a reason to focus on other things.
00:50But can it be too much of a thing to look at when you have that much?
00:55I mean, the way you describe it, it sounds like there's a lot to look at.
01:00I'm unsure what you're saying, but yeah, there's a few plays we'd like back.
01:05I think that's kind of typical with any game.
01:06But certainly in week one, I think, you know, you're working on some kinks.

01:12And we were able to score enough points to win.
01:14And defense made one more play than they did.
01:16And so it matters.
01:17What was the feeling going into overtime?
01:19What were you guys talking about trying to do?
01:21Because every possession is so critical.
01:24It's almost like you have to score.
01:26So what did you guys talk about before you took the field in overtime?
01:31Nothing special.
01:32No, we didn't do anything different.
01:34Just walked out there, walked down the field and got ourselves a touchdown.
01:37We really didn't change a thing.
01:38And we know we're a good team.
01:40We know we've got good players.
01:41Just have to execute.
01:42Can you talk about the vibe of what it was like walking through the tunnel?

01:47You're the last player to come out there for the offense.

01:52What's that like to start a season?
01:54And just for you yesterday, can you talk about that?
01:58Yeah, man, it's fun.
01:59It really is.
01:59I feel the passion and energy from our fans.
02:02And, you know, I really am so grateful every time I get to run out of that tunnel
02:06and hear that response.
02:08And it really is fun.
02:09It really is pinch me moment every time.
02:11And I enjoy playing for these guys.
02:13And I think they were a big factor in yesterday's win and helped us.
02:17What was your favorite play from the game?
02:19What did you like the most that Jared Goff did?
02:23Good question.
02:23You know, probably at the end, the deep out to JMO.
02:28I think it was probably a game of 20 or so and got us right there inside the five.
02:32And, you know, trying to find our footing there on that drive.
02:36And we're able to, you know, waiting for a second long.
02:38We got that call and made a big play.
02:40I mean, I was up in six.
02:41What were the conversations like during the course of the game between you and Jameis?
02:45And obviously he didn't catch all the passes or thrown to him.
02:49You said afterwards you could have thrown some better passes to him.
02:53You guys both have a very good rapport.
02:55You trust in each other.
02:56But what were the conversations like as the game was going on?
02:59There really wasn't anything abnormal or any conversations that were abnormal.
03:05I mean, it was status quo.
03:07And I trust him.
03:08He trusts me.
03:08I got to put it where he can catch it.
03:09And he's got to make the catches he knows he can.
03:11And I think that's as simple as it is.
03:13A couple of plays in the game from you I wanted to discuss.
03:15One was the play where you had a couple of pump fakes.
03:19You moved around in the pocket and eventually found Laporta for a gain of 19 yards.
03:24Take us through that play.
03:26Were the pump fakes, were you really thinking of throwing it?
03:28Or was that just trying to create more time?
03:30Tell us about that play from your perspective.
03:34Yeah, I had to scramble a little bit there and move around in the pocket.
03:38You know, I've been known to do that.
03:40So I've been really trying to continue that.
03:42And yeah, it felt good.
03:44The other play was a run to Jameer to the right.
03:48He reversed his field and came back towards you.
03:52And it looked for a second like you were getting ready to throw a block on a defensive lineman.
03:57How seriously were you considering that?
03:59And do you wish Jameer would have kept coming so you could have thrown that block?
04:04Yeah, if he would have kept coming, I would have gotten away there.
04:07And again, another thing I'm really known to do is really block these defensive linemen.
04:10And yeah, if he would have came my way, I would have certainly done my best to get in the
04:15way of whoever's trying to get in.
04:17How much time do you actually practice blocking, Jared?
04:22Zero.

04:29Do you ever feel the urge just to go up and hit the sled or hit one of the blocking

05:46We had a little bit of miscommunication in the backfield there, but Panay is so dang
05:51good, and Decker was so good for so long that it was so rare for me to get hit from

05:56But yeah, you know what happens, and you just got to deal with it.
05:59Jameer Gibbs, one of the calls we're getting today from fans is concerned that he can't
06:03have that workload is going to be a lot over 17 games.
06:07As a player, tell us what you think of that concern.
06:11Is he going to be fine, or is it something that you guys would like to alleviate some
06:15pressure on, Jameer?
06:18Yeah, I heard that question last night, too.
06:22I don't really know.
06:22I mean, the guys, as good of a player as there is in this league, we gave him, what, how

06:29It's like, yeah, we're going to try to give him the ball as much as possible.

06:34If his body holds up like it should, great.

06:43But he's one of the best players in the league, and we're going to try to give him the ball

06:48Is there a better security blanket to have than Amon Ross St. Brown?
06:51I mean, you guys just click when you need it most.

06:55He was good yesterday.
06:56He really was.
06:58And he has been, right?
06:59He's a premier player at that position.
07:01But yeah, it's nice to have him as a steady guy who, you know, when winning a pinch or we're
07:06stumbling a little bit offensively, can just find him.
07:09He can make things happen.
07:09He's an igniter.
07:11He's a spark, and he played well yesterday.
07:14You've told us in the past there are examples of on the field where you guys have to be
07:18on the same page.
07:19And was there an example like that in this game where the two of you saw defense the
07:23same way and your experience in playing with them and all the reps paid off?
07:27Is there a play that would fit that category this week?
07:31Yeah, I think we had a third down.
07:34He ran a little five-yard little in-cut.
07:38And he had to kind of tempo himself in there, and I had to kind of throw it on his
07:41back hip
07:41a little bit to keep him from getting hit.
07:43But he also knew, like, I'm trying to slow you down so you can catch it and get upfield
07:47and get the first down.
07:48That's exactly what happened.
07:49So yeah, a little nuanced things like that.
07:51We've thrown it to each other a million times at this point.
07:53I mean, I understand his body language, and he knows when I put it somewhere what I'm
07:56trying to encourage him to do, I guess.
07:59Interesting.
08:00Dan Campbell, after the game, said to me, there's a whole bunch of stuff that needs to get tightened
08:03up.
08:04What would you put at the top of that list for the offense?
08:08Oh, good question.
08:09Consistency, man.
08:10Consistency.
08:11Like, we had a lot of really good plays.
08:12We had a lot of really good moments.
08:15We drove the ball really well at times and then just would stall.
08:18And for whatever reason, it was negative plays.
08:20It was negative runs.
08:22It was, you know, missed throws by me.
08:25You know, it's just consistency.
08:27If we're able to, and that's the whole league.
08:28I'm not saying that's not like a novel concept, but if we're able to be a little bit more consistent
08:33and eliminate some of those negative plays, man, we'll be just fine.
