00:06Today we're here at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and we're going to be meeting our 15
00:10month old tiger cub named Kinley Rose. In 2016 she broke her leg so let's go ahead and take a
00:17look and see how she's doing now. So she broke her leg a little over a year ago but just
00:26take
00:26a look at her now it's as if it never happened. So when we found out that the cub had
00:33an injury we
00:34of course wanted to take her to get the best medical care that she needed so when we first
00:38found her the cub wasn't really wanting to put much weight on and because of our relationship
00:43the keepers with the animals we were able to safely remove mom out of the situation take her off of
00:48exhibit and we ended up taking the cup to a specialist where they did determine that her
00:53femur had been broken. We actually ended up putting in a metal plate into Kinley Rose's leg
00:58which is still there today and she does very well with it and her leg has healed completely
01:03and that plate does not hinder her at all and it helps to keep her leg nice and strong.
01:14We even have such a great relationship with her that we're able to do some training
01:18and as you guys have seen she's able to train just fine she can stand up on that leg and
01:23bear weight
01:24on it and she can even play and rough house with mom. One of the important things about having those
01:31close relationships with our tigers and having them trust us is through our training we're going to be
01:36asking her for different behaviors to get her to cooperate present different body parts that help in
01:41her medical care and then through that she's actually trusting us so she develops that bond with
01:46us that she trusts what we're asking her to do is going to be beneficial for her as well. So
01:52we can
01:52all learn something from Kinley Rose she was faced with a challenge she learned how to overcome it and you
01:57can too.
