In an interview, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju discussed his long-standing professional association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rijiju reflected on first meeting Modi in 1999 when both were handling party organizational responsibilities, highlighting Modi's emphasis on disciplined, time-bound execution with perfection. Rijiju stated, 'Modi Ji has transformed my own working system, my own way of looking at things.' He shared insights into Modi's hands-on governance style since 2014, noting how closely the Prime Minister tracked ministerial performance and follow-ups. Rijiju explained that Modi's electoral success and enduring popularity stem from having a coherent long-term vision, connecting every policy step, and leading a cohesive coalition under the banner of inclusive development.

00:28someone who was serving chai as a young lad at the railway station in vadnagar becomes a pracharak
00:36becomes the organizational bjp general secretary then the chief minister of gujarat longest long
00:44stint there and then prime minister of india in 2014 and continues to serve the nation i quickly
00:52want to cut across and bring into this conversation kiran rijiju union minister for parliamentary
00:58affairs and minority affairs government of india to talk about prime minister narendra modi's journey
01:02sir welcome you've worked extensively uh with the prime minister but you've known him much longer the
01:09two of you uh not many people perhaps would know that were party general secretaries in in the late
01:161990s 98 99 um you know now that he's turned 76 you we're talking about the prime minister's journey
01:23what are your thoughts about him when he was a party general secretary in 98 99
01:30well gaurav it is a momentous occasion for all of us to speak about modiji
01:38when i met him for the first time in 1999 he was the party general secretary in charge of the
01:46organization and i was also looking after the organization in the state of arunachal pradesh
01:53so during the meeting we came across and i found that he is so different he is different from others
02:03now he was different from other people then also modiji was so effective as a general secretary organization
02:12that he in a way transformed the way we function as a party karekarta
02:18initially we used to just work as a normal party karekarta whatever programs and whatever duties are
02:27given we just simply execute but modiji taught us that it is not only execution of the work
02:35it must be execution with perfection on time bound with the target of whatever is to be achieved
02:47must be achieved within a set time and discipline in life everything was so focused that we change
02:56the way we use the function so modiji has transformed my own working system
03:03my own way of looking at things in a way transform my lifestyle so he's transformed your lifestyle but
03:11you've been quite an energetic uh if i may young man uh you know for for over uh you know
03:17two decades
03:18that i've known you sir but how did the prime minister transform your your lifestyle and if i may
03:24he has given you a lot of uh work experience you know from mos home uh to to m to
03:31sports to youth
03:32affairs to food processing to earth science to a cabinet minister uh law and justice uh you know
03:39big big promotion there parliamentary affairs minority affairs a great experience he's given you
03:46yes gaurav it has been as i said a tremendous opportunity provided to me by the party and later
03:54on when we formed the government prime minister modiji has assigned me in different critical portfolios
04:00before that also when he was the chief minister i was the national secretary of the party so as a
04:08national secretary of the bharata janta party we often meet and we always talk about so many things
04:16and we keep learning from him but when modiji became the prime minister it was all together a new life
04:24for
04:24me when i was made first time as minister of state in the home affairs he was uh hands-on
04:33with every
04:34minister's daily you know curricular activities the performance of the ministers he used to come
04:41back and tell us that you have done this you have done that and this could have been done in
04:47this
04:48manner so the way he follows up with the work so i became extremely alert and cautious also so that
04:56i don't
04:56falter so the first time i was in the home ministry for five years that was the
05:04the beginning of my understanding of the administration during vajpai's time i was in the commission but
05:11that was a different era modiji's time you can't make a mistake and remind you and through you to your
05:19audience and the viewers the art of governance has truly changed in india after 2014 but tell me this
05:29the prime minister has now become india's longest serving elected prime minister in terms of
05:36continuous uh you know service and office what has been the biggest factor in your view behind you
05:44know the ability to maintain this political continuity and remain a popular prime minister
05:50uh foremost what comes comes into my mind is uh prime minister has a vision then he has the road
06:00map
06:01of that entire vision he doesn't think in fragmented manner he has a long term plan and each step is
06:11connected if you connect all the dots it's all in a series of planning and series of steps he has
06:18taken
06:19that is why electorally he has been the most successful prime minister because he has not only ensured
06:28the continuous victory of nda and bharata janta party serving as the longest elected prime minister
06:36he has also ensured the victory of the party in the states that means in the state also people vote
06:44in the
06:44ml election in the name of modiji even in the municipal elections also people vote in the name of modiji
06:53so today if marty janta party has become such a colossal political party in india nda is successful
07:01because of the modiji's effort to to run it as a family these are great example of leadership and i
07:11think
07:11the great success of prime minister modiji is to not only show a strong leadership but a cohesive coalition
07:20bring along everybody and to work with the team sabka sat sabka vikas and ek bharat stress bharat to
07:29join everybody together nobody should be left out with a global ambition with the local aspiration
