He added that he might bar other media outlets, as he was sick of seeing “fake news” about him and his government.

00:00To our country today than ever before, we all signed up and they signed up quickly, every one of them.
00:05I don't think we have.
00:06Mr. President, the freedom of the press is enshrined in the First Amendment.
00:10Thank you for telling me.
00:23Two things I want to clarify. You said prosecutions of potential election fraud are going to continue.
00:29I'm also upset about the Supreme Court decision, but the idea that President Trump shouldn't be allowed to communicate to
00:34the American people his frustration, I don't share that.
00:38Just next to you.
00:39And I want to publicly thank Caroline Leavitt for doing this for a long time for President Trump.
00:51Every president takes an oath to uphold the Constitution, which includes the First Amendment.
00:56I do too. Much more so than...
01:00Because they're fake news.
01:03You get so tired of reading and seeing fake news.
01:07When you look at CNN, it's just fake.
01:10That's why their ratings are no good.
01:12When you look at MSNOW, which used to be MSNBC, which some people call MSDNC, Democratic National Committee,
01:23it's fake news, it's fake news, it's fake news.
01:25And, and, excuse me, excuse me, and when you look at P is political, I mean, they got a government,
01:31the government under Biden gave them like $8 million to keep them afloat.
01:36And the stories they wrote are fake.
01:38So there's a lot of news.
01:40And there may be others to join them and maybe they can get better.
01:43And our country has to have honest news.
01:45You know, you don't have a country unless you have, as I say, borders, good voting.
01:50We're straightening them out.
01:51The borders are unbelievable.
01:53Nobody's coming to our country in the last 17 months illegally.
01:56But you need borders and you need fair and free voting.
02:01And you know what you need?
02:02You need a free press.
02:03You need a fair press and an honest press.
02:06And CNN, and you know it, and everybody knows it.
02:08You're intelligent.
02:09I've known you a long time.
02:10You know how fake their reporting is.
02:12It's one-sided.
02:14It's never good.
02:16I've done many, many, look at this story today about favored nations on drugs.
02:21We lowered the drug causes by 50, 60, 70 percent.
02:24They won't even put it, if they put it on, it'll be a legacy.
02:28They will find a reason why that's a negative, okay?
02:31Is there a particular reason?
02:32No, no reason.
02:33No, just because.
02:34Is there a fuel?
02:34No, no, it's really just cumulative stories over the last two years.
02:40You get sick of it.
02:41And they do that because they want to try and diminish the Republicans and a Republican administration.
02:49And honestly, we've done a fantastic job.
02:51Look at the numbers.
02:52Look at the economic numbers.
02:54We have more money coming into our country today than ever before.
02:57Are you trying to intimidate the press from doing its job?
03:00No, no, no, no.
03:01I dislike dishonest press, like you.
03:04I think you're terrible.
03:06But I dislike dishonest.
03:07I like to see honest press.
03:08I don't think somebody should be allowed to come in and write fake stories.
03:12They're fake news.
03:13And that's why they have no credibility.
03:15That's why.
03:16So I had 96 percent negative coverage during the election.
03:21And I won.
03:22Because they have no credibility.
03:24I got 96.
03:25I guess NBC was 93 percent negative.
03:28So 93.
03:29With all of the victories I've had, everything's been a victory.
03:32It's all been a victory.
03:34And I won the election like nobody's ever seen anything like it.
03:39I get no.
03:40They never write a good story.
03:45The fact that he's trying to say as an explanation, well, I can do this because I consider these
03:51outlets to be fake news, is really just another way of saying, I don't like what these reporters
03:57and these outlets are doing and saying, so I want to exclude them.
04:00And that is something that the First Amendment really clearly says you cannot do.
04:04It's essentially a warning that says, if you want this kind of access, if you want to remain
04:10here in this press pool, then you have to do what I say and you have to report the way
04:14that I want you to report it.
04:16So it's not just the exclusion itself that's causing harm, but it's also the chilling effect
04:21on any other journalist or any other press outlet that's currently still included within
04:27that press pool and now expects that their role will have to be removed if they do anything
04:31that the president doesn't like.
04:33Nobody in government, no president, no person, no elected official in government really wants
04:39to deal with the press, especially an effective press, because their job is to find the things
04:46that need to be said that the person, you know, part of their job is to find the things that
04:50need to be said that this person does not want to be said.
04:52Their job is to get the whole story, not just the one that the elected official wants
04:57to put out there.
04:58But most elected officials don't go this far in these disputes with the media because it's
05:05just not something that that benefits anyone.
05:07They don't come off looking good in most instances.
05:10They look like they have something to hide.
05:12And so it's just not something that's been done.
05:14And it's and traditionally and historically, it's not part of our culture.
05:28So it's all about something that's going on evergreen.
05:30Now, with the joint, we're all about pursuing the whole thing about American people.
