00:46Onrush is essentially a hero shooter team centric arcade racing party style game.
00:52Now I know if that kind of sounds bananas to you then stick with me here because it's
00:57an absolute blast to play even if that sounds a bit confusing.
01:00So if the game looks like the classic PS3 MotorStorm games to you that's actually not
01:05a coincidence since Onrush was actually brought to life by some of the developers who worked
01:10on that seminal arcade racing juggernaut.
01:13Onrush is all about teamwork since this isn't a straight win the race and first place lap
01:18to lap experience.
01:19Here you compete as a team for takedowns, points, control zones, and the like all while blazing
01:26through vibrant locales.
01:27You strap into various vehicles kitted out with special passives and an ultimate like
01:32rush power once a gauge is filled up, then you can unleash it should you choose.
01:37And when you get taken out yourself you can switch to another vehicle on the fly.
01:41It's cool stuff honestly and never lets up on the throttle, such an underappreciated gem.

01:55Beetle Adventure Racing
02:03For those who didn't have an N64 back in the day, you missed out on one of the best
02:08arcade racing games around.
02:10One that no one probably expected to be good.
02:12Seriously, a licensed arcade racer all about VW Beetles?
02:17Wild right?
02:18Fortunately, it's a downright blast from the past that still feels great today.
02:22The goal is simple, race through varied tracks adorned with shortcuts, smashable boxes, and
02:27hidden secrets, all while striving for that first place finish.
02:30It's a game that doesn't at all take itself seriously, often feeling more like a kart racer
02:35than a regular racer.
02:36It's zany, it controls well, it's got loads of content, and it's such a worthwhile treat
02:41on the console that's worth seeking out.
02:53Shocks
03:00Our first EA Sports big title on this list, shocks is what you get if you blend together
03:05the off-road, mud-filled fun of rally racing with a vibrant and explosive arcade racer.
03:11Shocks is all about style and panache, linking together successful drifts and racing lines
03:16to score big and smoke your competition out in the wild.
03:20There's a staggering deluge of great rally games from the 2000s for sure, both arcade
03:24and sim-like, so it's kinda no surprise I guess that shocks gets left in the dust.
03:29It's just one of those arcade racers that is super easy to pick up and play, and it constantly
03:35rewards your clean driving lines with bravado.
03:37The speed is blistering, the tracks are lively, and the competition is fierce in this one.
03:51Re-volt
03:59So, does anyone else remember the fun of remote-controlled cars from back in the 90s?
04:05I remember getting one for Christmas one year, so excited to test it out, I was pumped to finally
04:10get outside, and then just quickly ram it into the curb at full speed and break it.
04:15Ah yes, memories, we love them.
04:18Well, 1999's Re-volt kinda feels like an arcade racing version of the remote-controlled
04:23cars you played with your friends back in the day.
04:25Pick your favorite RC car, take to the streets of your neighborhood, a toy store, a museum,
04:31a grocery store, and more, and lay waste to your remote-controlled competition with things
04:35like bottle rockets, oil slips, and electricity galore.
04:38It's honestly a dream game for anyone who is fond of both RC cars and arcade racing games.
04:44Just, you know, be prepared for some slippery and unwieldy controls at times, just like real
04:49RC cars.

05:06Burnout Revenge
05:16Burnout Revenge kind of seems like the black sheep of the Burnout franchise, where the
05:21first and second games were the less bombastic catalyst for what was to come.
05:25Take Down being the absolute pinnacle of the series, in my opinion at least.
05:29Paradise launching things into an engaging and deeply enjoyable open world, and Dominator
05:35kinda being the weird uncle.
05:36Revenge is just there, offering incredible gameplay, but never talked about quite as much
05:41as the others.
05:42Revenge features all the staples you know and love.
05:45Take Downs, crash events, blazing speeds across global tracks, a lengthy career moat, and
05:50stellar music.
05:51Now, it might just be more of the same that we saw on Take Down, but it's the perfect
05:55pick-up-and-play arcade racer that features oodles of over-the-top mayhem to enjoy.
06:08Freak Style
06:17Our second EA Sports big title here on this list, Freak Style is high-octane arcadey
06:24motocross goodness distilled into one radical package.
06:27While yes, of course, racing across dirt and mud adorn tracks is part of the game here,
06:32the real thrills come from pulling off insane death-defying tricks to build boost, and more
06:38importantly, your freak-out meter.
06:39Once ready, you can pause time with the freak-out meter, the camera swirling around you, to then
06:44land with a boom and zoom out ahead of the competition, all with the sense of bombast and heightened
06:49exhilaration you would expect.
06:51It honestly never gets old, not at all.
06:53Plus, the best part is that you don't even need to be a fan of motocross to have a barrel
06:58of fun in this larger-than-life extreme adventure.
07:03Starman
07:12Split Second
07:20Split Second is what you get if you combine high-speed thrilling arcade racing with a big-budget
07:26reality television show that hopes for big explosions and massive crashes over gently earned first-place
07:33podiums.
07:33And weirdly enough, for some reason, this game is published by Disney Interactive.
07:38I don't know.
07:38But gosh darn, it's a fabulously over-the-top and fun game.
07:42You see, this game's unequivocal calling card is what's known as power plays.
07:47By drifting, drafting, and taking jumps, you build up a three-tiered meter underneath your
07:52car.
07:52When a segment or two is filled up, you can create a destructive set-piece moment dotted
07:57around the course that can wreak absolute havoc on your opponent's day, or of course,
08:02your day if you aren't careful.
08:03Or, you could opt to save up to a Tier 3 power play to unleash a complete torrent of destruction
08:09that can alter the track completely, or just wipe out your competition.
08:13It's downright awesome.
08:25Midtown Madness 3
08:30I'm right behind you!
08:34Alright, so let's mix it up a bit and switch lanes over to Midtown Madness 3, a fun-as-heck,
08:40bite-sized open-world racing experience set in both Paris and Washington DC, where completing
08:46missions and various objectives is the aim of the game here, more so than just standard
08:50racing.
08:51Pick up cargo, deliver cargo, take on pizza runs, play as a taxi driver, drive around an
08:57old lady who gets way too excited about your driving, drive criminals to the police station,
09:06drive an ambulance, compete in checkpoint races, and take down various goons and hooligans during
09:11races.
09:12Yes, Midtown Madness 3 really does have it all for open-world arcade racing fans out there.
09:17It's just a fun, laid-back and cartoony game that always keeps you entertained.
09:31Rush 2 Extreme Racing USA
09:39I've mentioned a number of Nintendo 64 games on this channel that I fondly remember playing
09:44with my best friend way back in the day in the 90s during our sleepovers.
09:48Well, another one to add to that memory vault is Rush 2 Extreme Racing USA.
09:53This is a pure, unfiltered arcade racing experience with loads of awesome cars, crazy USA track
10:00locations, boatloads of shortcuts and hidden collectibles, and an addictive stun mode that
10:05tests your car flipping and spinning skills.
10:08Gosh, it's such a blast, we spent so much freaking time in that stun mode.
10:11Yes, it obviously looks dated and blocky by today's standard, but its sense of speed and
10:17momentum is pure catharsis in arcade racing form.
10:20It doesn't matter whether you are racing, stunting, finding shortcuts, or catching some
10:25radical air, it's all just an utter delight.
10:27The game even has car degradation when you crash over and over, nice touch.
10:32And, I gotta say, after all these years, the music in this game is still seared into my
10:37fleshy brain pockets.
10:39Ugh, that was a weird sentence to say out loud.
10:48Blur.
10:57It's still wildly baffling how a game like Blur was made.
11:00I mean, the thought of real world licensed cars getting blown to smithereens via some super
11:05cool power ups and pickups while racing around intense tracks is crazy to say the least.
11:10But gosh, us arcade racing fans are super glad it exists.
11:14This is car racing meets arcade racing.
11:17Hop into your favorite licensed car, take to the tracks, and battle your way to first place with
11:22oodles of awesome over the top item pickups.
11:24The sense of speed and control you have is great, made even better when you are drifting around
11:29corners, narrowly avoiding a takedown, all while blasting your opponents to stop them dead in their
11:34tracks.
11:35Blur is really just one of those rare arcade masterpieces that we'd love to see more of in
11:39today's gaming scene.
11:41It's just one heck of a wild and fun ride.
