00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 32
05:00How blessed is the one whose rebellious acts are forgiven,
05:04whose sin is pardoned.
05:07How blessed is the one whose wrong-knowing the Lord does not punish,
05:11in whose spirit there is no deceit.
05:15When I refused to confess my sin,
05:17my whole body wasted away,
05:19while I groaned in pain,
05:21all day long.
05:23For day and night you tormented me.
05:26You tried to destroy me,
05:27in the intense heat of summer.
05:31Then I confessed my sin.
05:32I no longer covered up my wrongdoing.
05:35I will confess my rebellious acts to the Lord.
05:39And then,
05:41you forgave my sins.
05:43For this reason,
05:45every one of your faithful followers,
05:47should pray to you,
05:48while there is a window of opportunity.
05:51Suddenly,
05:52when the surging water rises,
05:54it will not reach them.
05:57You are my hiding place.
05:59You protect me from distress.
06:02You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance.
06:08I will instruct and teach you about how you should live.
06:12I will advise you as I look you in the eye.
06:16Do not be like an unintelligent horse or mule,
06:20which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a riddle and pit.
06:27An evil person suffers much pain,
06:30but the Lord's faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in him.
06:36Rejoice in the Lord and be happy,
06:38you who are godly.
06:40Shout for joy,
06:42all you who are morally upright.
06:46Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
06:49as it was in the beginning,
06:51is now and ever shall be,
06:54world without end.
06:55Amen.
06:59Psalm 33
07:02You godly ones,
07:04shout for joy because of the Lord.
07:07It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise.
07:12Give thanks to the Lord with the heart.
07:15Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument.
07:19Sing to him a new song.
07:22Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him.
07:26For the Lord's decrees are just,
07:28and everything he does is fair.
07:32He promotes equity and justice.
07:35The Lord's faithfulness extends throughout the earth.
07:39By the Lord's decree the heavens were made,
07:42and by the breath of his mouth fall the starry hosts.
07:46He piles up the water of the sea.
07:49He puts the oceans into storehouses.
07:52Let the whole earth fear the Lord.
07:55Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him.
08:00For he spoke and it came into existence.
08:03He issued a decree and it stood firm.
08:07The Lord frustrates the decisions of the nations.
08:11He nullifies the plans of the peoples.
08:13The Lord's decisions stand forever.
08:17His plans abide throughout the ages.
08:22How blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
08:25the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession.
08:30The Lord watches from heaven.
08:33The Lord watches from heaven.
08:33He sees all people.
08:35From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth's inhabitants.
08:40He is the one who forms every human heart and takes note of all their actions.
08:47No king is delivered by his vast army.
08:50A warrior is not saved by his great might.
08:54A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory.
08:58Despite its great strength it cannot deliver.
09:03Look, the Lord takes notice of his loyal followers.
09:07Those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness by saving their lives from death
09:12and sustaining them during times of famine.
09:16We wait for the Lord.
09:17He is our deliverer and shield.
09:21For our hearts rejoice in him.
09:23For we trust in his holy name.
09:26May we experience your faithfulness, O Lord.
09:30For we wait for you.
09:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
09:37As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
09:41World without end.
09:43Amen.
09:47Psalm 34
09:49I will praise the Lord at all times.
09:52My mouth will continually praise him.
09:56I will boast in the Lord.
09:58Let the oppressed hear and rejoice.
10:01Magnify the Lord with me.
10:03Let's praise his name together.
10:06I sought the Lord's help, and he answered me.
10:09He delivered me from all my fears.
10:13Look to him and be radiant.
10:15Do not let your faces be ashamed.
10:18The oppressed man cried out, and the Lord heard.
10:21He saved him from all his troubles.
10:25The Lord's angel camps around the Lord's loyal followers, and in the Muslim, taste and see that the Lord is
10:33good.
10:34How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him.
10:37Fear the Lord, you chosen people of his.
10:40For those who fear him lack nothing.
10:44Even young lions sometimes lack food and are hungry.
10:48But those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
10:52Come, children, listen to me.
10:54I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord.
10:58Do you want to really live?
11:01Would you love to live a long and happy life?
11:04Then make sure you don't speak evil words or use deceptive speech.
11:10Turn away from evil and do what is right.
11:13Strive for peace and promote it.
11:16The Lord pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help.
11:20But the Lord opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth.
11:27The godly cry out and the Lord hears.
11:30He saves them from all their troubles.
11:33The Lord is near the brokenhearted.
11:36He delivers those who are discouraged.
11:39The godly face many dangers.
11:42But the Lord saves them from each one of them.
11:45He protects all his bones.
11:48And not one of them is broken.
11:50Evil people self-destruct.
11:52Those who hate the godly are punished.
11:55The Lord rescues his servants.
11:58All of those who take shelter in him escape punishment.
12:03Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
12:07As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
12:11World without end.
12:13Amen.
12:19The Book of Jonah, Chapter 4
12:24However, this displeased Jonah exceedingly and he was angry.
12:30He prayed to Yahweh and said,
12:32Please, Yahweh, wasn't this what I said when I was still in my own country?
12:38Therefore, I hurried to flee, Tarshish.
12:41For I knew that you are a gracious God, merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness.
12:49And that you relent of doing harm.
12:53Therefore, now, Yahweh, I beg you, take my life from me.
12:58For it is better for me to die than to live.
13:04Yahweh said, Is it right for you to be angry?
13:10Then Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city.
13:15And there he made himself a booth and sat under it in the shade until he might see what would
13:21become of the city.
13:26The Lord God prepared a vine and made it to come up over Jonah that it might be a shade
13:32over his head to deliver him from his comfort.
13:37And so Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the vine.
13:43But God prepared a worm the following morning and it chewed on the vine so that it withered.
13:51When the sun rose, God prepared a sultry east wind of the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that
14:00he fainted and requested for himself that he might die.
14:03I said, It is better for me to die than to live.
14:11God said to Jonah, Is it right for you to be angry about the vine?
14:18Jonah said, I am right to be angry even to death.
14:24Yahweh said, You have been concerned for the vine for which you have not laboured, neither have you made it
14:31grow.
14:32It came up in a night and perished in a night.
14:38Shouldn't I be concerned for Nineveh, that great city in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand people
14:44who cannot distinguish between their right hand and their left hand and also much livestock.
14:55This is the word of the Lord.
14:58Thanks be to God.
15:11Mary said, My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
15:20because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:26For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:30because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
15:37From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:43He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:46He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:53He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:59He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
16:06He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
16:16descendants for ever.
16:18Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
16:23as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
16:30Amen.
16:36The Gospel according to St. Luke, Chapter 7
16:41When John's messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John.
16:48What did you go out into the wilderness to see?
16:51A reed shaken by the wind.
16:54But what did you go out to see?
16:57A man clothed in soft clothing.
17:00Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed and live delicately,
17:04are in the king's courts.
17:07But what did you go out to see?
17:09A prophet.
17:10Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
17:14This is the one of whom it is written,
17:16Behold, I sent my messenger before your face,
17:20who will prepare your way before you.
17:23I tell you, I tell you, among those who were born of women,
17:25there is not a greater prophet than John the baptiser.
17:29Yet he who is least in God's kingdom is greater than he.
17:36When all the people and the tax collectors heard this,
17:40they declared God to be just,
17:42having been baptised with John's baptism.
17:48But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God,
17:52not being baptised by him themselves.
17:57To what then should I compare the people of this generation?
18:02What are they like?
18:04They are like the children who sit in the marketplace
18:06and call to one another, saying,
18:10We piped to you and you didn't dance.
18:13We mourned and you didn't weep.
18:16For John the baptiser came,
18:18neither eating bread nor drinking wine.
18:20And you say,
18:23He has a demon.
18:24The Son of Man has come eating and drinking.
18:27And you say,
18:29Behold, a glutton and a drunkard,
18:32a friend of tax collectors and sinners.
18:36Wisdom is justified by all the children.
18:42One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him.
18:46And so Jesus entered into the Pharisees' house
18:48and sat at the table.
18:52And behold,
18:53a woman in the city who was a sinner,
18:55when she knew that he was reclining
18:57in the Pharisees' house,
18:59brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
19:03Standing behind at his feet,
19:05weeping,
19:06she began to wet his feet with her tears
19:08and she wiped them with the hair of her head,
19:13kissing his feet
19:14and anointing them with the ointment.
19:19Now when the Pharisee
19:21who had invited Jesus saw this,
19:23he said to himself,
19:26This man,
19:27if he were a prophet,
19:28would have perceived
19:29who and what kind of woman this is
19:32who is touching him
19:33and that she is a sinner.
19:38Jesus turned to him and said,
19:41Simon,
19:41I have something to tell you.
19:43He said,
19:44Teacher,
19:45say on.
19:46A certain lender had two debtors,
19:49the one owed five hundred denarii
19:52and the other fifty.
19:54When they couldn't pay,
19:56he forgave them both.
19:58Which of them,
19:59therefore,
20:00will love him the most?
20:03Simon answered,
20:05He, I suppose,
20:06to whom he forgave the most.
20:09He said to him,
20:11You have judged correctly.
20:14Turning to the woman,
20:15he said to Simon,
20:17Do you see this woman?
20:19I entered into your house
20:20and you gave me no water for my feet,
20:23but she has wet my feet with her tears
20:26and wiped them with the hair of her head.
20:30You gave me no kiss,
20:32but she,
20:33since the time I came in,
20:35has not ceased to kiss my feet.
20:38You did not anoint my head with oil,
20:41but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
20:46Therefore, I tell you,
20:47her sins,
20:48which are many,
20:49are forgiven,
20:51for she loved much.
20:53But to whom little is forgiven,
20:55the same loves little.
20:58He said to her,
21:00Your sins are forgiven.
21:04Those who sat at the table with him
21:07began to say to themselves,
21:09Who is this who even forgives sins?
21:14Jesus said to the woman,
21:16Your faith has saved you.
21:19Go in peace.
21:22This is the word of the Lord.
21:24Thanks be to God.
21:35Now according to your word,
21:38Sovereign Lord,
21:39permit your servant to depart in peace.
21:42For my eyes have seen your salvation,
21:45that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
21:50a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
21:53and for glory to your people Israel.
21:58Glory be to the Father,
22:00and to the Son,
22:01and to the Holy Spirit,
22:02as it was in the beginning,
22:04is now,
22:05and ever shall be,
22:06world without end.
22:09Amen.
22:13I believe in God the Father Almighty,
22:17maker of heaven and earth,
22:19and in Jesus Christ,
22:21his only Son,
22:21our Lord,
22:23who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
22:26born of the Virgin Mary,
22:28suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:31was crucified,
22:33dead,
22:34and buried.
22:35He descended into hell.
22:37On the third day,
22:38he rose again from the dead.
22:40He ascended into heaven,
22:43and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
22:48From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
22:52I believe in the Holy Spirit,
22:54the Holy Catholic Church,
22:56the communion of saints,
22:58the forgiveness of sins,
23:01the resurrection of the body,
23:02and the life everlasting.
23:05Amen.
23:11The Lord be with you,
23:13and with your spirit.
23:17Let us pray.
23:21Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:25Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:29Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:36Our Father, who is in heaven,
23:39holy is your name.
23:42May your kingdom come.
23:44May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
23:49Give us this day our daily bread.
23:51Forgive us our trespasses,
23:53as we forgive those who trespass against us.
23:58Lead us not into temptation,
24:00but deliver us from evil.
24:04For yours is the kingdom,
24:06the power and the glory,
24:08for ever and ever.
24:11Amen.
24:16O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
24:19and grant us your salvation.
24:24Protect and guide those in authority over us,
24:29and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
24:35Endure your ministers with righteousness,
24:38and make your chosen people joyful.
24:43O Lord, save your people,
24:47and bless your inheritance.
24:52Give peace in our time, O Lord,
24:55because there is none other who fights for us,
24:58but only you, O God.
25:02O God, make clean our hearts within us,
25:06and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
25:17Let us pray.
25:20O Lord, we beseech you,
25:22grant your people grace
25:23to withstand the temptations of the world,
25:26the flesh, and the devil,
25:29and with pure hearts and minds,
25:31follow you, the only God.
25:34Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
25:36Amen.
25:44O God, from whom all holy desires,
25:49all good counsels,
25:50and all just works proceed,
25:53give to your servants that peace
25:55which the world cannot give,
25:57that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
26:01and also that, by you,
26:04we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
26:09may pass our time in rest and quietness.
26:12Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
26:16Amen.
26:21Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
26:24and by your great mercy defend us all
26:28from perils and dangers of this night.
26:31For the love of your only Son,
26:34our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
26:36Amen.
26:40Almighty God,
26:41who has given us grace at this time with one accord
26:45to make our common supplications to you,
26:48and promises that when two or three
26:51are gathered together in your name,
26:53you will grant their requests.
26:57Fulfill now, O Lord,
26:59the desires and petitions of your servants,
27:02as may be most beneficial for them,
27:06granting us in this world
27:08knowledge of your truth,
27:10and in the world to come,
27:12life everlasting.
27:14Amen.
27:17With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
27:20and the love of God
27:21and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
27:23be with us all evermore.
27:27Amen.
