00:27say they should cut him. I hope that you didn't say that on the radio and give people the impression
00:31that I actually wrote that. No, I did. That would be a Ken Carman classic. Would you guys, damn it,
00:36would you guys stop it? No. That's a Ken Carman classic. She couldn't have said that. I got to check
00:43deeper into it. That's what I said. That is what I said.

01:09Whoa. What I love is that, you know, there are times when you can take the high road, but there
01:17are times when Mary Kay Cabot will fight down and dirty and she's not going to just allow anybody to
01:23say anything. And so that's what we love about you, Mary Kay, is that you'll face the music and you'll,
01:27you'll counter punch and you'll give it right back.
01:31Well, you guys know most of the time, nine times out of 10, I do take the high road. Uh,
01:36but if I ever wanted to fight back, um, it would be entertaining.

02:00Mary Kay Cabot joining us here on the show. I think Mary Kay should be doing a victory lap. Um,
02:03she was the one that was out in front of Deshaun Watson, having the edge, uh, throughout the quarterback competition.
02:09You were the first to, to basically say, yeah, he's going to win this competition and you expect him to
02:14play well. I know he didn't play well in the opener, but then he fired off maybe his best game
02:19as a Cleveland Brown in week two with all that pressure that this could be his last start. Can he
02:24continue to excel? Can he build on this?
02:29Well, the thing that I have been trying to get the point that I have been trying to get across
02:33for a long, long, long time. And nobody seems to want to listen is I'll say it again. Year one
02:40suspension, year two shoulder from week three on year three shoulder, not ready yet. Weird Ken Dorsey offense, tons of
02:48injuries around him. Those are not excuses. You can't call a ruptured Achilles an excuse.
02:53You cannot call a fractured glenoid bone, a torn labrum and a torn rotator cuff, just flimsy excuses. He's never
03:01had a chance here to have a good play caller that knows how to work with him to be healthy.
03:07And then to have a supporting cast. Now he's got those things now for the most part, but I still
03:12think there are issues. I still think that this is a young and fledgling offense.
03:17I think it's still in its infancy stages. And right now he's got a nice connection with Denzel Boston, but
03:24that's not enough. They need a running game. He needs more timing and chemistry with his other skill players.
03:31But I think Todd is doing a really nice job of drawing it up, helping to feel comfortable and confident,
03:37because that's going to be the key. If he's going to win, he has to have confidence. And people might
03:42want to say, oh, you have to be tougher than that. Well, when you've come off of 22 months of
03:47a layoff, two Achilles surgeries and booing by your hometown fans, then you're going to need your confidence built up
03:54from the ground up again a little bit.

04:02it's still week to week. I take it. If he doesn't play well this week, is it too short of
04:07a turnaround for your door? Would they just give him the Pittsburgh game? Or do we have to talk about
04:12fan interaction and everything like that?
04:16I think you have to give him the Pittsburgh game. I think you do have to give him the Pittsburgh
04:20game, but also you do have to take it week by week, because I think it is going to be
04:25key how he does respond to what happens at the stadium with the fans on Sunday.
04:31And this is important. It doesn't matter in life or anywhere what happens to you. It matters how you respond
04:38to it. So he has to have a toolkit for that game. He has to know this time that it's
04:44coming and he has to have a strategy and the Browns have to have a strategy for it.
04:48And if they can overcome that and he can overcome that, then you move forward. And I do think that
04:55that game, that victory changed their trajectory of the season in terms of where they were going to go. If
05:01he had lost that game and struggled, I wrote it and I don't apologize for it. That was going to
05:07be the end of him starting in a Cleveland Browns uniform.
05:10They were not going to trot him out there at Huntington Bankfield if he had lost that game and struggled
05:16for the second straight week. It was going to be turned over to Shador Sanders and the philosophy was going
05:21to be development, trying to win with your young guys and see where that all goes.
05:26So it's how he responds to it this weekend. And hopefully for all of them, they will have some strategies
05:34for him. I thought Todd Munkin did a great job with his answer yesterday when I asked him if he's
05:39addressed this whole thing with Deshaun.
05:43Mary Kay Cabot with us. He also said that the reason they didn't go deep was not because it was
05:48some gimmicky offense. It was because he didn't think they could block him that long, which is something we speculated
05:53on earlier in the week.
05:54Now, obviously, a new offensive line, they're gelling. Eventually, you can't play the entire season four or five yards away
06:01from the line of scrimmage. That's not going to work in a passing game.
06:04But they already shortened the terminology. Do you think that Todd is going to be able to find more ways
06:10for Deshaun Watson to hurt opposing defenses at different levels of the field?
06:16Well, they have to. They absolutely have to. And like I said, some of it is going to start with
06:23finding a running game somehow, some way.
06:26And I'm going to throw this out there again, too. I still maintain I would find a way to get
06:31Talon Green on that roster to convert a fourth and one or to help you out in short yardage.
06:37I don't know how they would do it. I don't want I don't know what other player they could sacrifice.
06:41I know they don't want to do that with Shador Sanders, but I would have him available as a weapon,
06:46especially because, you know, you've lost Dylan Sampson, who arguably was your most dynamic runner.
06:53And to have somebody who runs a four point three six and a six foot six, I feel like I
06:57would be finding a way to get him out there to contribute.
07:00But they need to find a running game. And then, yes, they are still trying to figure everything out.
07:06The offensive line is finding its way. And so the deep passing game might not necessarily be there yet the
07:14way that you need it to be.
07:15But they've got to find other ways to generate offense except for, you know, whatever, three point four yards attempt
07:22or an attempt or whatever it was.
07:24I still think that there's a lot of meat left on the bone with guys like Harold Fannin Jr.
07:30He doesn't necessarily have great timing yet with Harold. So hopefully that's coming along.
07:36It hasn't even been a month yet since he was named the starter. So for whatever, 27, 28 days, that's
07:44how long he's been working with the first team offense exclusively.
07:47And it's starting to come around. But even Todd admitted this week that Deshaun didn't necessarily benefit from the quarterback
07:54competition.
07:55That tail and green thing you said there was that that was actually fantastic.
07:59I mean, you think about this, they go for it on fourth and one. I thought it was way too
08:02early in the ball game.
08:03I mean, it's a, it's a, it's a six, six game. You're right there at your own 30.
08:07Taylor green probably converts that when you think, well, I think he'd have a chance.
08:12Yeah. Better chance of what they did.
08:15Right. Yeah. And that can, that can cost you a ball game.
08:18And I know that it might be extravagant to have him on the roster just to go out there for
08:25a couple of fourth and ones or some goal line or whatever you would have him doing maybe three, four
08:30plays, but it can make the difference in a football game.
08:34If you convert that fourth and one sometimes. So, so I would try it. I don't know if he's a
08:40hundred percent ready for it. And I don't know who you could sacrifice.
08:43I've also said somehow, some way I would try to have him trying to block a field goal. That might
08:48sound crazy too.
08:50But at six foot six and with his leaping ability, I just think he's some kind of a weapon. And
08:55I'm very curious to see what he can do at some point.
08:57And I also wanted to say real quick that at that game in Tampa, Baker Mayfield got booed. He was
09:04booed in that game. He's lost nine of his last 11 games.
09:08And booing happens when you're playing losing football, even if you were the hero just last year.
09:15Do you want to defend Baker there? Tone doesn't help him.
09:17I just think it's, it's, it's very interesting. Mary Kay feel bad for Chris Godwin.
09:22There were so many Browns fans that were rooting for Baker Mayfield somehow this week. And yet, um, these, uh,
09:28lost so many games and, uh, they paid him the second highest salary of all quarterbacks with this new contract.
09:35Your thoughts.
09:36It's true. And I mean, the Browns are right to move on from him.
09:40The, the vibes are not good there in, in Tampa regarding Baker Mayfield right now. He's coming off of two
09:46bad games, a number of turnovers, three fumbles in his opener.
09:50And again, he's lost nine of the last 11. And I heard those booze for him. There were people shouting
09:55at him about his $55 million a year contract as they were leaving the field.
10:00So, so it happens. Fans are passionate. That's what you want. You want passionate fans. The booze are going to
10:06come and it's how you respond to them.
10:10Mary Kay Cavett joining us on the show, Mason Graham off to a great start. Uh, some people were a
10:15little bit critical of him last year.
10:17I wasn't, I, I think the defensive tackles, it takes a few years. They got to get better with time.
10:22How much better has he been here though, this year than last year from what you've seen?
10:26Well, I think he has his sea legs. I think he has his confidence. And also, I think he's one
10:31of the players that may have been a little bit dwarfed by Miles Garrett and the big effort to make
10:35sure that Miles Garrett was going to get that sack record needs some more edge rush.
10:39Mary Kay, are you alleging there was a grand conspiracy afoot to try to help Miles Garrett take ownership of
10:47every last sack that was on the football field?
10:50Mary Kay, it's the first I'm hearing of these allegations.
10:54No, I wouldn't go that far. I would just say that, uh, guys knew exactly what was happening last year
11:02in regards to him wanting to get that record.
11:05And I think maybe sometimes guys were maybe just a half a millisecond slow, uh, getting to the quarterback, uh,
11:13that maybe this year, they won't be that tentative.
11:15Maybe they will raise their hand and Jacques says there, the defensive line coach even said that, uh, Mason Graham
11:21could have had about six sacks last year.
11:23Uh, but you know, you just have to plant your flag and seize the moment and raise your hand and
11:28make sure that, uh, that you're getting your production.
11:30Are you excited for Taylor Swift's new album or the extra parts of the album coming out and the song
11:35called Cleveland?
11:37Well, yeah, I think it's kind of cool. Anything positive for Cleveland. I'm all about that.
11:42And I was thinking about this, that, you know, maybe it'll be, uh, just one of those things where it's
11:46like a Michael Stanley band song.
11:48Uh, and it'll be a big, huge hit here and no, nobody else will love the song.
11:53Uh, but I'm sure that it will be played early and often here.
11:56People don't realize this. Uh, you, you might be a little embarrassed. I'm taking this somewhere.
12:00Uh, a nice lady named Cindy Savage encouraged me to, uh, go and, uh, text my wife to get together,
12:06to meet and, uh, to, to, you know, date.
12:10Uh, Mary Kay was the one who really encouraged us to have children and she goes, oh, you got to
12:15have the third, have the third.
12:17We had the third. And so Mary Kay is the reason why Jonah is here.
12:21And I want to ask you, Mary Kay is the father, as a mother, excuse me, is the mother of,
12:25uh, three children.
12:26And you've, uh, given me guidance as the father of three boys.
12:32If Axel, how old does Axel have to be before I let him get a sleeve tattoo?
12:38I am not a tattoo person. I'm not none of my three kids. They're in their twenties. Actually, my son
12:44just turned 30.
12:45Oh, he does have one small little tattoo. My son does. I forgot about that. Um, but for the most,
12:51the girls don't have any tattoos yet. And I'm happy about that. Um, I would hope that they wouldn't get
12:58a tattoo until they're at least out of high school.
13:02Okay. And also, and also tattoos, in my opinion, are toxic. I'm, I'm weird that way. Oh, tattoos. The ink
13:11is toxic. And so I would never encourage anybody to get a tattoo.
13:15Okay. Now, what if he's a high school football player and it looks really bad-ass saying, well, it's a
13:23different, it's a different, it's a different world out there right now. Um, so I suppose, uh, if everybody else
13:30is doing it,
13:31and you guys are okay with it, then be open-minded to it. But
