00:01The photographs of ten Negri Sembilan EXCO members have been removed from the official
00:07state government portal.
00:08A check on Friday found that only Mentri Basar Datuk Ismail Laseem's photograph remained
00:14under the State Executive Council section.
00:17Ismail currently holds three portfolios – Islamic Affairs and Security, Finance, Land and
00:24Natural Resources, and Investment, Infrastructure, Utilities, Communications, and Felda.
00:31The development follows the gazetting on Thursday of the cancellation of the appointments of
00:36the ten EXCO members.
00:38The Gazette stated that Yang Di-Pertuan Basar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir
00:44had revoked their appointments with effect from September 20, under Article 38 subsection
00:505 of the Negri Sembilan Constitution, 1959.
00:55According to the Gazette, all ten had taken and signed their oaths and pledges of allegiance
01:00before Tuanku Muhriz on August 7, before assuming their posts.
01:05However, the Gazette stated that they had breached their oaths of office through their actions
01:10on September 15, when they agreed to the removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Di-Pertuan Basar.
01:16Tuanku Muhriz said in the Gazette that, in view of the alleged breach of their pledges
01:22of allegiance, he withdrew his consent and revoked their appointments as members of the
01:27State Executive Council.
01:29The Gazette also stated that, under Article 38 subsection 5 of the State Constitution,
01:35an EXCO member other than the Mentri Basar holds office at the pleasure of the Yang Di-Pertuan
01:41Basar.
01:41On September 20, Istana Negri Sembilan announced that Tuanku Muhriz had revoked the appointments
01:48of all ten EXCO members with immediate effect.
01:52Ismail was later reported as saying that the EXCO members had been barred from entering their
01:57offices at Visma Negri and from carrying out their duties.
02:02The Mentri Basar also maintained that he had not been consulted or advised about the termination
02:07of any EXCO member and that the existing line-up remained valid under Article 38 of the State
02:14Constitution.
