02:36It's always fun playing against linebackers and playing with their eyes, and that's how we perform, how we perform.

03:12Austin Hooper, I felt like played more last night than he has played the first couple of weeks, and he
03:17did a nice job.
03:18I brought up the jumbo tight ends.
03:19I brought up the full, like, everything.
03:22Even Charlie Warner in motion and running, getting a chance to run behind him in the split zone.
03:27I thought they did a phenomenal job.
03:29Not just the offensive line.
03:30I can't even heap it on those guys.
03:31The offensive line played well, but, man, those guys that were blocking out on the edge were just unbelievably good.
03:37How's it going to go when you're doing the film session, and they highlight Pitts blocking Van Ness 101 on
03:44the edge there for that touchdown?
03:46Yeah, I mean, it's unbelievable.

03:49We've talked about on this show the maturation of Kyle Pitts, and that we believe in the maturation of Kyle
03:54Pitts.
03:57His numbers can be better.
03:59I think that that is the one takeaway from last night, where you look at Kyle Pitts' receiving numbers, and

04:04Okay, how do you get him involved next?
04:06I think that's the one kind of thing that, as Grant and I kind of weighed in through the two
04:11-hour postgame,
04:12it's like we got to the Kyle Pitts thing, and we're like, Huh, I don't know where you go from
04:16here.
04:16But it's one of those deals for me where, in the years past, when you're not getting that blocking,
04:23that type of physicality from him, and there's no production in the passing game, it's extremely frustrating.
04:32That's why I'm going over the top and making sure that I mention it every time we talk about blocking
04:36that he was blocking his butt off last night.
04:41I'm telling you, Lucas Van Ness has been their best player.
04:43Right now, he's, through three games, he's on the way to an all-pro season.
04:47And it's actually scary what they might be when they get Micah Parsons back as a defensive front.
04:54And Kyle Pitts manhandled him on the block.
04:59You deserve those flowers, Kyle Pitts, and you're getting them because that is what we're talking about.

05:05Mike said the maturation.
05:06It's awesome to see.
05:08Yeah, I completely agree.
05:09There was a block.
05:11And I think his guy actually even makes the tackle, but that's not even the point.
05:15They were on, like, the 10-yard line.
05:16They run duo, and he's attached off the hip of Austin Hooper, I believe, on the right side of the
05:21formation.
05:22And it's not so much that his guy makes tackle.
05:24He makes it for a 7-yard gain.
05:26And Kyle Pitts just drives this guy as far as he can.
05:30Guy comes off of it, makes the play.
05:32But at the end of the play, Kyle's face is just involved in the entire end of the play.
05:38And that's the willingness.
05:39And that's what I try to convey so many times when we talk about these blocks.
05:42It's like, stop talking about angles and stop talking about, you know, all this other stuff that doesn't matter.
05:47Are you willing to drive your guy throughout the end of the play to the echo of the whistle?
05:52And more times than not, that will lead to good things happening.
05:54Everything we saw last night, the pull on the guard, everything from Penix last night.

06:11No, not really.
06:13My expectation has been, I've always disagreed with people that have been on this roster,
06:21it's not good enough kind of stuff.
06:23I've also, though, said, hey, our goal at the end of the season, no matter what happens,
06:28you've got to find out where you're at in the quarterback position.
06:32Last night was a good step for Mike to prove that he can be the guy, right?
06:39And so I think if Mike can prove that he's the guy, with the defense, and look,
06:48everything comes with kind of an asterisk because health of the team and all that kind of stuff
06:56has to kind of play into it.
06:58But if you have a lot of those guys out there healthy that you had last night,
07:02even without A.J. Terrell, and you get that, you know, you get consistent play.
07:08And, like, every game's not going to be 18 of 25, and Drake London has 200 yards receiving,
07:13and Bajon has 200 yards rushing.
07:15But if you get these type of performances consistent with good performances,
07:19you can be in the hunt for a playoff spot.
07:23And so maybe there's a chance, there is a world you can live in where you accomplish
07:28more than one thing this year at the end of the season as far as getting the quarterback
07:32and maybe breaking a drought.
07:34No, I agree.
07:35I don't think it changes my outlook per se.
07:39I think it makes me feel better about what the possibilities are.
07:42We talked, you know, a month ago kind of about what the Super Bowl,
07:46like what is the highest, and I feel like hosting a playoff game
07:50would be an absolute grand slam for this team this year.
07:53It's not to say they can't go on a Super Bowl run.
07:55I just don't think, I am one of the ones that don't think they're properly constructed
08:00for that just yet.
08:01But I do think the ascension of this team is realistic,
08:05and I do think that moving in the right direction is realistic.
08:07We saw it last year.
08:09Like, this team was, what, they were 4-9 at one point,
08:12coming off getting blown out by the Seahawks,
08:14and then you go and beat, you know, the Rams on Monday Night Football,
08:18you can win any given week.
08:20I'm more excited about what the structure of it is,
08:23like what the process is moving into these wins.
08:26I think you could have told me, Allie,
08:27that they're going to beat the Packers on Thursday Night Football.
08:29I don't think you could have ever told me it was going to look like it did,
08:32and that's one of the reasons for the excitement, I think, for a lot of people.
08:36I know we're all running on low sleep right now,
08:38so I'm not sure how much you guys have gotten a pulse on social media right now,
08:41but do you feel like this game last night should quiet all the noise
08:46that was surrounding Michael Penix leading into this game?
08:49Well, I'm going to tell you this right now.
08:50What it shouldn't do is if you were in the corner,
08:53you were attacking the guy about you thought he wasn't that dude,
08:56or, you know, you thought he was,
08:59I think the word weak has been thrown out there by some people,

09:06We talked on this show about how we understood why he was doing things,
09:12but we still wanted to see him play.
09:13And I thought we were pretty clear.
09:14We just couldn't wait to see him out there.

09:21Don't change now for one game.
09:23You know, let it play out,
09:25because now you're going to look like,
09:27some people's hypocrisy knows no bounds,
09:29and they showed it last night on Twitter,
09:32and they're showing it this morning.
09:33And I think that's kind of what I'm saying.
09:38It's like I don't necessarily think this changes what my outlook for the team is,
09:41because I think it would be disingenuous for me to sit here and go,
09:43oh, but this is a team that's got Super Bowl talent.
09:45I don't believe that, and I haven't believed that,
09:47and I'm not trying to bring the vibes down on that,
09:50because I do think they're building in the right direction.
09:53But I think that the way you dealt with the Packers
09:56is something you just don't always see out of bad teams.
09:58This is not a bad team, right?
10:00This is a good team,
10:01and good teams go in situations like this
10:03when other teams are on a short week dealing with injuries,
10:06and they beat the crap out of them
10:07the way you saw the Falcons beat the crap out of the Packers last night.
10:09Like I said, it's proof of concept.
10:11It feels like, okay, I can start checking things off that I know,
10:15and now we can start building towards other goals that are down the road.
10:19We've come to that moment in the segment or the show
10:21where I butcher a saying,
10:22but don't you got to learn to crawl before you can walk or whatever?
10:29I said all along that I thought the core.
10:34Mike, tell me, if I'm changing what I said,
10:36but I've said the core is good enough to win games and to make the playoffs.

10:43If you're looking at what this season, this team's, their goal, their internal goal,
10:48win the division is always the game, but make the playoffs.
10:51Worry about a Super Bowl run when you make the playoffs, okay?
