00:00Falcons defensive back Sidney Brown joins us from Madrid
00:04ahead of their matchup with Cincinnati on Sunday morning.
00:07Sidney, how are you?
00:07What up, Sid?
00:09What's going on, guys?
00:10I want to know, though.
00:11Are we getting billed by this?
00:13I think so.
00:13Are we getting billed by this?
00:14Okay.
00:14It's worth it.
00:15I'll send you guys a bill after.
00:17No, no, I'm saying, Sidney, are you using somebody else's phone?
00:19You ain't using your phone, right?
00:22What's that?
00:22No.
00:22No, no, no.
00:23Okay.
00:23All right.
00:23No, no, no.
00:24Okay.
00:24We know how to roll with you.
00:25We'll figure it out.
00:26How to roll with you.
00:27A little write-off or something.
00:27Are you old enough, Sidney?
00:29Because when me and Randy were in college, you had to have a long-distance card, and you'd
00:35have to punch in a number and stuff to call long-distance.
00:38Are you old enough to know anything about that or no?
00:42I mean, I was born in 2000.
00:45No, I had a flip phone.
00:46Okay.
00:47I had a flip phone.
00:48So, I mean, I've experienced the long-distance, the minutes.
00:52You had to add minutes.
00:53Yeah.
00:53Was it like the minutes thing?
00:54Okay.
00:54Yeah, yeah.
00:54I remember minutes.
00:55I remember minutes.
00:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:57How's Madrid so far?
00:58How's the trip been thus far?
01:00It's been great, man.
01:03I'm excited to be here.
01:05It's definitely hard to adjust to the time change.
01:08I think we're seven hours ahead.
01:10Yeah.
01:11Seven hours ahead.
01:12So, it's been whatever it is.
01:15It's been tough to adjust to that.
01:16So, just kind of getting into a routine out here, getting a feel for the land, and just
01:21experiencing the culture as is.
01:23How are you trying, how are they, is there something that Kevin, Coach Stefanski, and
01:28the other, the trainers or whatever, tried to get y'all on some kind of schedule, like
01:31going to bed at this time, getting up at this time, or is it just y'all, as players, just
01:35try to get a feel for yourself?
01:37No, they're doing a great job of, like, kind of informing us of what we need to do.
01:40It actually just started with the flight on Tuesday.
01:44On Tuesday, so, you know, getting, getting to sleep early, and then obviously waking
01:49up and going straight into it, you know, treating it like our, treating it like our, like our
01:54regular Wednesday routine.
01:56So, just going through that, man.
01:58And, no, they've done a great job adapting us, but, you know, the jet lag, the jet lag
02:03is real.
02:04Falcons defensive back Sidney Brown joining us here on the Midday Show with Andy and Randy
02:08ahead of the Falcons matchup with the Bengals.
02:10Uh, early Sunday morning here in Atlanta, 9.30 kickoff here, local time.
02:14Um, I wonder, you know, we talk about this sometimes, coming off of a loss like last
02:19week's was for you guys against Tampa.
02:21Is it beneficial to have a week like this where it's, all right, we got to fly across
02:26the ocean on Tuesday and get back to work and we're all together.
02:29Like, is there, is there anything to that?
02:32Yeah, I think, I think when you can, you know, travel to your teammates and get time with
02:36them, um, because I feel like when you're, when you're in Atlanta,
02:40you know, you, you practice, you go to meetings and then everybody goes home and they go back
02:44to their families.
02:44They have obligations like that.
02:46You know, when you're here, they're all in the hotel, um, and you know, we're able to
02:50bond.
02:51And I think it's, I think it's a special moment where, you know, guys can really connect.
02:54And, um, yeah, I think it's amazing.
02:58Uh, have you got a chance to get out in Madrid?
03:01I mean, because the thing about it, this is a business trip.
03:03I know you're in a different country and all those different things, but have they given
03:06y'all some downtime to be able to see how it is?
03:08And have you ever been over there, uh, to Madrid?
03:11No, it's actually my first time in Europe.
03:12Okay.
03:13Oh, cool.
03:13It's my first time in Europe.
03:14And yeah, you know, I think I'll go grab a bite after meetings and stuff.
03:17But again, like it's got to keep the main thing, the main thing.
03:20Right.
03:20And, uh, you know, we gotta, you know, we need to prepare for Sunday.
03:24Um, and that's what matters.
03:26Fun story that, that maybe not everybody knows about, but your, your twin brothers running
03:30back for the Cincinnati Bengals.
03:31And I, I don't know if you guys have had a chance to play against one another professionally
03:37before or not, but, uh, either way still has to be really fun to know that he's going
03:41to be on the other side.
03:42You obviously want to get the win, but what's that like to play against your brother in a,
03:46in a professional football game?
03:49It's, uh, it's unreal.
03:50I think, um, you know, it goes all the way back to the two of us being in Canada and
03:54then,
03:54you know, obviously playing together in college and competing there.
03:57But I think it's, I think it's awesome.
03:59Um, you know, obviously, obviously I think at the end of the day, it's just the Atlanta
04:03Falcons versus Cincinnati Bengals, but it's, it's cool, you know, to see him doing his
04:07thing and, you know, really being able to study and break them down.
04:10I actually had an opportunity to play him when I was in Philly.
04:12Um, so it's, it's, it's, it's cool to, it's cool to do it here though.
04:16Um, uh, in my role.
04:18Did you get them?
04:18Did you get them down?
04:20I got them down.
04:21Oh yeah.
04:22Okay.
04:22I got them down.
04:23I got them down.
04:24A little video of it actually.
04:26There's a little video.
04:27Oh, well, describe the play.
04:28Like what, what, uh, what, what happened on the play?
04:31I was just putting in like a quarters fit and, um, I just kind of caught him before
04:35he could get going.
04:36You know, he's a strong ball carrier, but it was good.
04:38That's all, that's all, that sounds awesome, man.
04:40Well, your brother plays on a, on a more high powered offenses.
04:44You're going to be out there in the field with your brother.
04:45So you might get an opportunity to hit him again.
04:47But what is it about this office that the Falcons is you guys, defense needs to, uh,
04:52needs to tighten up before you, before this matchup against Joe Burrell in that
04:55offense?
04:57Yeah, I think it was just playing our style of defense.
04:59I think, I think last week was, um, last week wasn't, wasn't, wasn't our style.
05:06And I think it's just getting, about getting back on track.
05:09You know, I think we, we did a great job of addressing it.
05:12Um, obviously the, there was, it wasn't, wasn't the Falcon brand of football, but we moved
05:19on from it.
05:19We addressed it.
05:20Um, we looked at the bad, but I think for this week, man, we just gotta, we gotta, we
05:24gotta get back on track.
05:25Um, you know, really, I mean, they've got a talented offense with obviously Burrell leading
05:29it, but you got guys like T Higgins are really, uh, stepping up and, you know, taking,
05:34taking a lead in targets.
05:35And then obviously Jamar, you know, being a special athlete, he is, and then a couple
05:39guys in the slot that can, can make it happen.
05:41And then just like, you know, kind of being that, that, uh, that tight end that is like
05:45a flex, you know, you, you, you don't really count him as a tight end.
05:47He's a receiver, but, um, yeah.
05:50Yeah.
05:50You know, I, I think, I think, I think we got to, I think we got a great matchup ahead
05:54of us.
05:55We just, we just got to get back on track and play our style Falcons defensive back, Sidney
05:58Brown, joining us here on the midday show with Andy and Randy Falcons taking on the Bengals
06:02in Spain on Sunday morning and, uh, going to have back, uh, an important member of the
06:07defense on Sunday as well.
06:08What's it going to be like for you guys to have James Pierce jr.
06:11Back out there.
06:13Um, from my, I mean, I think, I think when you have a premier wrestler like him, uh, it always
06:18helps.
06:19I can set the edge.
06:20I can get the quarterback down.
06:21Um, I'm excited for him.
06:23I'm excited for him.
06:24I know it's, he's been waiting for it.
06:25He's been in the lab working.
06:26So, uh, um, I'm excited to see how this agent works.
06:30Sidney, we appreciate it, man.
06:32Enjoy the experience over there and good luck on Sunday.
06:35Good luck to you, brother.
06:36I appreciate it, guys.
06:37Take care.
06:37Sidney Brown there.
06:38Falcons defensive back, uh, will be out on the field at times.
06:43Um, obviously was, was in the game on, uh, on Sunday against Tampa.
06:48Uh, and look, I mean, they're going to, they're going to be using a lot of different DBs in
06:51the game.
06:52Obviously the, uh, the Bengals have a ton of firepower on offense, especially in the passing
06:56game.
06:57And he's going to be one of the many players on the back end of the Falcons defense that
07:00are charged with trying to stop it.
07:01Yeah, man, it is, it is, man.
07:03This, this, this, because they're, they're so sudden, so explosive.
07:06I mean, they look like crap the first half of Buffalo, I mean, Baltimore, and then score
07:10five damn touchdowns, Andy.
07:11Yeah, man.
07:11You know, that's, that's the, the, the thing that he is.
07:13And he's actually like, because teams are taking or, or rolling coverage and doing all
07:17they can not to let Jamar, I mean, yeah, uh, let Jamar Chase get off.
07:22You are seeing more throws at T Higgins and everything.
07:24And he's right.
07:25You know, he, he, he, he can handle it.
07:26You know what I'm saying?
07:27Like a lot of times when your best player is being taken away, your best receiver is being doubled
07:30a whole lot and you're only going to get them straight targets.
07:32But one thing Zach Taylor does great is they move Jamar around so much.
07:36He's never just going to be outside.
07:38He's going to find ways that they can get the ball.
07:40And he is one of them.
07:41He is one of the best run after catch receivers in ball.
07:44And I'm talking, I mean, he'll take a hitch and go 90 with it.
07:48And so that's how special he is.
07:49And again, the quarterback, man, Joe Burrow is Joe Burrow.
07:52He's one of them dudes, man.
07:53He's, he's one of them dudes and they don't rely as much on his brothers.
07:57Brothers, more of a slasher, smaller, uh, scat back type runner.
08:01But they don't like, they were talking today, they said, um, they were talking about places
08:06for Jonathan Taylor, right?
08:07And somebody said, the Cincinnati Bengals.
08:09I'm like, that'd be great for them.
08:11They're not going to use them like they used them in Indianapolis.
08:13You got nine.
08:14You're going to take throws away from that.
08:15Right.
08:15That's the thing.
08:16Like it would be, it's always great to have a player like that, but they just wouldn't
08:18use them.
08:19They wouldn't use them.
08:19They wouldn't lean on them at all.
08:21No.
08:21Joe Burrow is going to throw the ball 40 times a game if they have the ball and they're not
08:25turning it over.
08:26Um, and, and Chase Brown, again, uh, Sidney Brown's twin brother, which is,
08:30I didn't realize they were twin brothers and they're like identical twins.
08:33They look the exact same, um, is, is really effective.
08:36Like he had a thousand yards rushing last year at 11 touchdowns between rushing and receiving.
08:41Like he's a player.
08:42He's an effective player for sure, but he's kind of perfect for what they do.
08:45Yes.
08:45Right.
08:45You don't have to sit there and get up, getting, getting tight formations and hand them off
08:49the hand, the ball off to them 20, 25 times a game.
08:52There was a, I heard some, again, this all rumblings and rumors and stuff.
08:55People projecting just because injuries happen and guys are like late in contracts, whatever.
08:59But I heard some, some thought that maybe the Ravens would take some calls on Derrick Henry.
09:04Like the Giants.
09:05Yeah.
09:05Wouldn't that be interesting?
09:06I know Harbaugh coached him there.
09:08Like call him up.
