00:00As the fourth day of general debate unfolds at the 81st United Nations General Assembly,
00:06we go live now to our colleague Jorge Gestoso, who is in New York with all the latest information
00:13on everything that is happening in today's journey.
00:18Alejandra, the most important two issues of this fourth day and the general debate here
00:25at the United Nations in New York City, security and healthcare, security.
00:32We're talking about many of the countries of our region, the Caribbean, that says we need security,
00:39especially Haiti needs the reinforcement of security in terms of security of the police
00:48and increase of the armed forces presence because of the gangs,
00:53creating most definitely death and chaos.
00:56On the other hand, the other parts of the world also talking about security.
01:02And in that case, we hear Lebanon talking about what they expect for this meeting and the future,
01:11talking especially an area that has been hardly hit by Israel bombings and occupation.
01:17And exactly the representative mentioned all these issues in these words.
01:26Lebanon's future
01:29will not be decided on its behalf, nor may its security and stability become the price
01:34of settlements concluded in its absence.
01:37Third, our position on the war has been clear from the outset.
01:41We want it to end. We want the ceasefire consolidated.
01:44We want Israel to withdraw from all Lebanese territory up to our internationally recognized borders
01:49in accordance with the 1949 general armistice agreement and as affirmed by resolution 1701.
01:58We want the release of all our detainees, the safe and dignified return of our people to their villages
02:06and towns and the reconstruction of what the war has destroyed.
02:17Mostly a big issue here, as I was mentioning, is health.
02:23And at this very moment, still it's going on a high level meeting regarding preparedness, readiness,
02:33prevention and answers to pandemics.
02:36And that is the second time that a meeting at that level takes place.
02:41Last one was in 2013 with the purpose of having the world better prepared to face a chaos
02:50like the world lived with the pandemic of COVID-19.
02:54So the answer of that meeting is we are going to live with the coordination of the world countries
03:02to how we plan to react in a much more effective way in such a way that it doesn't cost
03:10as many lives
03:11as as many nightmares that happen throughout the world.
03:15And especially because the global south was a part of the world that suffered the most.
03:21So those are the really the haylets security that has to do with the Caribbean and the rest of the
03:28world
03:29and health care so the world could be better prepared and having answers to the possibilities
03:36of another COVID type of pandemics.
