00:00Morning. Welcome to your latest Met Office update. Let's take a look at the weekend weather.
00:05For many, it's going to be a fine day on Saturday. There's some rain to tell you about for tomorrow.
00:10And it's not completely dry today. We've got showers coming in on a fairly brisk wind over northern and western
00:15Scotland.
00:16They'll come and go through the day. Had a little rain overnight across East Anglia and the southeast.
00:21That's cleared away. But leaving a legacy of cloud this morning, it may take a while to clear away.
00:25But once it's gone, we'll see sunny spells. Also a bit of mist and fog around first thing again.
00:30That should clear by mid-morning. And a few showers could just drift in from the Irish Sea into Cumbria,
00:36Lancashire.
00:37And we'll see some afternoon showers for Northern Ireland. So sunny spells and showers here.
00:41The old shower may be getting into southwest Scotland. But I suspect much of the central belt, much of the
00:45east coast of Scotland, dry and fine.
00:47And certainly the vast majority over England and Wales.
00:49Seeing plenty of September sunshine, which will lift the temperatures, although not as high as yesterday.
00:56We should still feel fairly warm for the end of September, getting into the low 20s across the southeast in
01:02particular, elsewhere mid to high teens.
01:06Feeling cooler than that, though, with a freshening wind over northwest Scotland.
01:09More showers coming in here this evening. Some lively ones packing in, too.
01:12Again, whizzing through because of the strength of the wind. One minute a downpour.
01:16The next minute it's dry.
01:17Many other places there will be dry for most of the nights.
01:20The wind's picking up in all western areas.
01:22But while we've still got lighter winds over central parts of England and the east, temperatures will fall away.
01:28Maybe down into single figures in rural spots.
01:30And there could be some mist and fog patches forming, too.
01:33But certainly further west, with more cloud and the breeze picking up, it'll be a milder night than the one
01:38just gone.
01:38But notice there's a couple of areas of rain, a kind of pincer movement, if you like.
01:43This first one sinking its way slowly south into western Scotland in the morning.
01:47The other one pushing rain, and some heavy rain possibly, too, to northern Ireland, west Wales by the end of
01:53the morning, and southwest England.
01:55They kind of come together to form quite a wet picture for a large part of the country during tomorrow
02:00afternoon.
02:01So much of Scotland, northwest England, Wales, and southern England as well.
02:06A bit of uncertainty about how fast this rain creeps into the east.
02:10Much of eastern England may well stay dry until quite late in the day.
02:14Northern Ireland might get a bit brighter as we head into the evening rush hour.
02:18But as well as that wet weather, which will, as I say, be heavy in places, the breeze will be
02:22picking up also.
02:23But with some sunshine hanging on across the east, we could again get over 20 degrees.
02:2723, 24 is possible at one or two places.
02:30Again, it depends just how quickly that cloud and the rain comes in.
02:34But it could get quite gusty with that wet weather and feeling quite a bit cooler for Wales and southwest
02:38England, certainly.
02:39And some of that rain pretty heavy on this front as it clears away.
02:43It could linger in the southeast into Monday morning.
02:45But for most of us, high pressure moves back in for Monday, bringing by and large a fine day again
02:51with light winds.
02:52But out in the Atlantic, we're watching developments quite closely.
02:55Quite an intense area of low pressure, likely to spin itself up to the west of Ireland.
03:00But that could generate a few things.
03:03Firstly, some heavy rain as it moves in, but also some strong and gusty winds by the time we get
03:07to Tuesday, especially Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
03:10But look where the air is coming from, wafting up some warmth as well.
03:14So some quite interesting weather, likely, as we go through next week.
