00:09Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're counting down our picks for the 10 hardest
00:13bosses to square off against in Game Boy Advance games.
00:22Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:27the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:32Dark Mind, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
00:43Leave it to a Kirby game to provide an ultra-punishing boss battle at the end of the game.
00:48This three-parter is not for the faint of heart. While Dark Mind's first phase is a pretty
00:53straightforward boss battle, with this version being able to be decimated quite quickly,
00:58it's actually phase two and three that really upped the ante.
01:01Phase two sees Kirby battle a massive, fiery eyeball, whose attacks are as devastating and
01:06creepy as its visage. Plus, the arena gets flipped at one point, leading to even more challenges,
01:12especially as that laser fires away at you. And phase three basically turns into a vertically
01:17scrolling shmup, where Kirby must pummel Dark Mind with various star attacks.
01:22It's a lot to contend with, but provides a satisfying finale to this great GBA game.
01:36Egg Saucer Sonic Advance 2
01:44Chasing down this circular, rolly, robotic craft controlled by Knuckles is a real doozy.
01:49No matter how many rings the scrolling boss area throws your way, it never feels like enough,
01:54as you get punched, smacked, and bamboozled by the massive robot hand that takes up loads of real
02:00estate. Timing and momentum are critical here in this boss fight. Since things just keep on scrolling
02:05and moving forward, you need to ensure Sonic has enough speed and momentum in order to then,
02:10hopefully, time your jump attack to land on Knuckles' shield control panel box thing.
02:15Doing this is immensely hard, since if you don't land your hit perfectly,
02:19you will get pummeled and sent backwards, having to then regain composure and momentum. Best of luck.
02:32Seven Force Gunstar Superheroes
02:42Gunstar Superheroes is essentially an intense action platformer combined with a bullet hell.
02:47This point is extremely evident during the Seven Force boss battle, itself a battle that basically
02:53feels and plays out like a grueling, albeit very short, mini boss rush gauntlet. Moving from one boss
02:59form to the next in rapid succession gives you little room for error, meaning that you need to be
03:04constantly on guard against fresh attacks and new movement patterns. It's honestly a lot and can
03:09be pretty overwhelming, especially since each boss form from Seven Force takes up a massive chunk of
03:14the constantly changing, always moving boss arenas. The boss fight is certainly awesome and keeps you
03:20thinking and planning ahead, but it's in no way easy to master, and often requires trial and error if you
03:26want to make it out alive.
03:35Vati's Wrath, The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
03:46While yes, it would have been easy to just include Vati's other pre-wrath forms, namely Reborn and
03:52Transfigured here, and yes, those two forms are still quite challenging, it's really Vati's final
03:57form, Wrath, that feels truly punishing in this game, worthy of a place on this list. The toughest
04:03part of this entire fight is planning, charging, and lining up your Link clones in order to smash
04:08back the four energy balls all at once to then smash the four smaller eyes, something that then
04:13stuns the boss target in order for Link to dole out some punishment. While the earlier part of the battle,
04:18where you must use the Minish Cap to shrink down and enter the stunned dark orb arms of the boss
04:23isn't easy by any means, it's really those Link copies that require perfect timing and mastery.

04:43screen. Kakleta's Soul, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
04:56The final showdown against Kakleta's Soul is appropriately harrowing and intimidating,
05:01and no, not just because of the ominous fire and brimstone boss arena. There's just so much to manage
05:06during this battle. Knowing what bros moves to use, when to use solo moves, when to dodge, when to jump,
05:12when to heal, etc, etc, etc, the list goes on and on, can really be overwhelming and demanding here.
05:17Yes, it makes sense it's going to be this challenge, and given it's the end of the game,
05:21but it all honestly feels more like a battle of attrition than anything else,
05:25testing Mario and Luigi's prowess from everything they've learned thus far in the game.
05:29It doesn't help that Kakleta's Soul has both self-healing and regeneration effects,
05:33meaning much of your damage can be undone in just a matter of seconds.
05:49Dracula, Castlevania, Circle of the Moon
05:59We thought about putting the equally grueling and difficult fight against Julius Belmont from
06:03Aria of Sorrow in lieu of Dracula from Circle of the Moon, but I mean, come on, it's freaking
06:08Dracula in all of his ominous, terrifying power. Plus, Circle of the Moon is the hardest of the GBA
06:14Castlevania crew. If Circle of the Moon happened to be your very first Castlevania game, then you could
06:20easily get hoodwinked by Dracula's final, more terrifying form. His initial form is incredibly
06:25easy to put down, in fact. However, his second version is filled with blood mist attacks, powerful
06:31laser-like beams, and swarms of supernatural bats. It's final climactic battle worth its salt and sheer
06:37difficulty, to be sure. It can be made somewhat easier by using the Rockwing ability to avoid some
06:42attacks, in tandem with some in Thunderbird, to call down loads of lightning to dole out some serious
06:47damage, until the final coup de grace that ensures Dracula bursts into flames.
06:59Nightmare Metroid Fusion
07:10This ooey gooey, fleshy green alien monstrosity that's housed in a shiny robotic exoskeleton is both
07:16creepy and intimidating in equal measure. For its lumbering size and lanky robotic arms, it's able
07:22to just dart about the minuscule boss arena with ease, blasting Samus with its powerful lasers and
07:27pummeling charges. Samus' energy can be decimated within mere seconds, if not careful. It's a crazy
07:33difficulty spike that many Metroid fans simply just didn't see coming. Taking potshots at Nightmare while
07:38simultaneously staying out of harm's way isn't at all easy, requiring pixel-perfect precision. Then, once you
07:45finally think you've defeated this hooligan, you must face down its quick-moving core slash nucleus
07:50type thing before the boss battle is truly complete.
07:59Base GS, Mega Man Battle Network 3. Battling Base GS is so difficult because he has loads of HP,
08:06powerful attacks and extremely aggressive movements. His attacks can cover large portions of the
08:11battlefield, making it challenging to find safe spaces while simultaneously dealing damage to you.
08:16Base GS also punishes mistakes severely here, as getting caught by one attack can quickly lead into
08:22a devastating combination that leaves little opportunity to recover. Defeating him, therefore,
08:27requires not only a well-built folder and navigus setup, but also precise movement, strong knowledge
08:33of his attack patterns, and patience. Just make sure you select the right chips and learn his patterns,
08:38and you should hopefully at least come out as the victor.
08:49Shinryu Final Fantasy 1 and 2 Dawn of Souls
09:00Now, this one is infamous as one of the toughest encounters on the GBA because Shinryu hits brutally
09:05hard, moves quickly, and can punish even well-prepared parties. It's the reason Shinryu is our penultimate
09:11pick for this list. With devastating attacks and a mountainous health pool, the fight can turn from
09:17I've got this to why is everyone dead in just a few turns? Winning requires serious preparation,
09:23powerful equipment, smart party composition, and a healthy supply of healing and defensive magic,
09:29making the battle feel more like a final exam than a random boss encounter.
09:32For a handheld RPG, Shinryu delivers an impressively intense test of strategy and endurance. And
09:39defeating that terrifying blue dragon is the kind of victory that makes you put the GBA down
09:43and proudly say, okay, now I can finally breathe.
09:57Dullahan, Golden Age, The Lost Son
10:08Dullahan, Golden Age, The Lost Son
10:13Dullahan, Golden Age, The Lost Son
10:15Dullahan because it combines enormous overwhelming HP, punishing physical attacks, powerful synergy,
10:21and the ability to exploit weaknesses in an unprepared party. And dramatically disrupt the
10:26strategies you may have spent the entire game developing, it's crazy. While his ability to
10:30recover HP makes mistakes and prolonged battles increasingly costly and grueling. Surviving the
10:36encounter therefore requires far more than simply having high level characters. You need carefully chosen
10:41gin combinations, strong equipment, effective healing, smart summons, and the discipline to
10:46recognize when attacking aggressively could actually leave your party vulnerable.
10:50As the ultimate optional challenge of The Lost Age, Dullahan doesn't at all play like an ordinary RPG
10:55boss, but instead more like a comprehensive final examination of everything this game has taught you.
11:01Which is why defeating him remains one of the most satisfying, and of course,
11:05notoriously difficult, accomplishments available from the entire GBA pantheon.
11:16So, what did you think of our picks for this list? What GBA bosses do you find to be the
11:20hardest?
