00:00But the Bears, I want to talk a little bit more about the Bears because, John, like you said, and
00:04as I've said, this was a really good night for Ben Johnson's offense and his system.
00:12But I feel like it wasn't just that.
00:15I want to talk more about this defense, and I know you said it's not a good defense, but I
00:21felt like they played incredibly well tonight.
00:24And I don't think it's the Eagles' offense being that bad.
00:28I think the Bears did a lot of good things.
00:31I mean, Philadelphia had three turnovers.
00:33They picked off Andy Dalton at the goal.
00:35We didn't even get to that.
00:37The Bears doctors, it felt like the Bears doctors held them in the tent.
00:42It was perfect.
00:43It was a perfect timed interception.
00:47It's like, Jalen Hurts, ah, maybe he has a concussion.
00:49We need to take him to the tent.
00:51They take him to the tent for just the amount of time that they need for Andy Dalton to throw
00:55a pick at the goal line.
00:57I don't know.
00:57What did you think of that?
00:59In that particular instance, by the way, you got to call a timeout.
01:03Oh, yeah.
01:04If you're the head coach, when it gets the third down and then it gets the fourth down and you
01:08know you're going for it,
01:10you got to call a timeout and you got to get caught standing at the huddle like the Giants coach
01:15did last year.
01:16When he's like, hey, is he coming out?
01:18They're like, get out of here.
01:19You got to do that because at that point in the game, they got stuffed three times running the ball.
01:26And I knew they were going to pass it and I was on my couch.
01:30So the fact that they threw a pick wasn't really shocking because Andy Dalton, as your backup, you're kind of
01:37in trouble anyway.
01:38And so with that taken into account, I thought the Jalen Hurts interception was just kind of, he knew where
01:46he was going.
01:47I think Troy Aikman did a great job calling that particular play.
01:53He knew where he was going with that ball.
01:55So did Edwards.
01:57And he looked at Jalen Smith the entire way and that's where he was going.
02:01He got picked off.
02:01So I did, again, I watch every Bears game, like closer than I watch most games, obviously, because I'm from
02:08Chicago.
02:09And so tonight's game, this defense, they just got the turnovers that they haven't gotten in the previous game that
02:16they lost.
02:17When they get turnovers, they get that offense.
02:20They get Ben Johnson more bites at the apple.
02:23This is why I thought the Rams defense would be historic, which it didn't make their offense historic.
02:27Because if you give these head coaches with this much offensive firepower and brainpower, more bites at the apple on
02:34offense, they will cook you.
02:36And I thought tonight with those extra interceptions, Ben Johnson was able to cook.
02:41That's how the bird got deep fried tonight.
02:43Because if you think about it, it was seven to nothing.
02:46And Ben Johnson should have went for three.
02:47He didn't.
02:48Yeah.
02:48And then the Eagles ended up scoring right before the half.
02:51We're looking at a seven to 10 game.
02:52And if the Eagles would have been able to find their way after halftime, they could have had the score
02:57on the first.
02:57They could have had the lead after the first possession.
03:00And so I take my hat off to the Bears defense for getting those turnovers because you've got to take
03:04a turnover.
03:05They're usually not given unless it's Drake May.
03:08But they did what they had to do.
03:11And they ended up sealing off the game.
03:14But tonight, again, tonight is about Ben Johnson.
03:17Ben Johnson punched his ticket into a very select room with about five guys in it.
03:22And so, you know, if you can win with any quarterback, you're going to be all right as a head
03:26coach in this league.
03:27And I think he proved that tonight.
03:28I completely agree.
03:30After that Eagles late first half touchdown, Chicago forced two straight three and outs coming out of that half, which
03:37was huge for them.
03:39They did have some mischances.
03:41Like you said, they were stopped on fourth and goal in the second quarter.
03:43They settled for two field goals.
03:46And they, you know, listen, Philadelphia's defense, like I think you said it, or Tim was talking about their secondary.
03:54I mean, they had that busted coverage on that Raymond touchdown.
03:57They had two penalties that extended Chicago's fourth quarter scoring drive.
04:03And the takeaways, I mean, Austin Booker had that Tank Bigsby fumble.
04:08They had the TJ Edwards interception.
04:10So, I mean, it was just, I think, a collection of two things.
04:14But I think I'm going to give Dennis Allen and that defense a little bit more credit.
04:18I think they deserved a little bit more credit for how they played.
04:22And they did a great job at containing Jalen Hurts and his mobility.
04:26Like, I, you know, when he would get out of the pocket, they had someone there ready.
04:31But here's the thing.
04:32There should have been three interceptions tonight because TJ Edwards dropped that exact same pass a couple of series before
04:38that.
04:39I think that's why he was able to bring this one in because he had read Jalen Hurts the first
04:43time.
04:44And now he caught him again.
04:46So, I thought that, you know, guys made, individuals made plays tonight.
04:50But at the end of the day, the Bears' unit, as a defensive unit, held up tonight when they absolutely
04:56needed every man to respond with Caleb Williams being down.
04:59And they absolutely did that.
05:00And I'll say this, too.
05:02This, and I've said this about many early week games here, this could have ramifications down the line.
05:08I'm just putting it out there.
05:09You don't know if the Bears are going to be in the wild card.
05:12You don't know if the Lions are the Vikings.
05:13You don't know if the Eagles are.
05:14You don't know what seeding is going to look like down the line.
05:17So, all of these in-division and in-conference matchups that you play early on in the season could pay
05:23dividends for you down the line.
05:25And getting a win with your third-string quarterback, people are saying backup.
05:29This is their third-string quarterback in Case Keenum at home against this Eagles defense and against this Eagles team
05:35is huge.
