00:01It's a big morning for Rockhampton. We've had Australia's chef de mission Anna Mears come to town alongside seven-time
00:10Paralympian Angela Ballard. They were here to unveil the third component of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics emblem. We had the
00:20first two components unveiled in Cairns and Townsville earlier this week.
00:25Now we don't actually know what the emblem is. The first two components were these long flame-like figures and
00:32today they unveiled a circular piece with a small conclave. So speculation is rife. Some people are saying it's a
00:41sun. Other people are saying it has a relationship to the Great Barrier Reef. Anna Mears, who was born and
00:47raised in central Queensland, speculated that it might be a frill-necked lizard.
00:52It has thrown a lot of us, but I actually think that this is a part of the face and
00:58the frill of the bearded dragon or the frilled-necked lizard. I know that as an athlete firsthand coming from
01:04this region, the support that I had as an Olympian, a young athlete aspiring, I was very grateful for this
01:12community and I know that they will take this opportunity to host a home games here in Rockhampton or a
01:20piece of it with great pride.
01:22Rockhampton has been under intense scrutiny over the past months from the media and some sporting bodies questioning the suitability
01:31of the Fitzroy River in hosting an Olympic event.
01:34Namely, the criticism.
