00:00First, we go back to one Corey Majors to tell us about the happenings with Christian Parker.
00:07Kevin, this is the first tweet I saw from Joe Hoyt, who likes to be called Joe, not Joseph.
00:13So, let's go with that.
00:17Boundary Eraser, he thinks he fits great in the system.
00:21Boundary Eraser, that sounds really cool to me.
00:23It does.
00:24I always say the apex competitor.
00:27That's what Mike Maddox used to say about Max Scherzer.
00:31And I always like using that because it just sounds so cool.
00:34So, Boundary Eraser sounds just awesome.
00:36This is from Abby Jones.
00:38She says, he fits well.
00:39This is the quote from Christian Parker.
00:41He fits well.
00:42He's a high-leverage cover player.
00:44He has a lot of experience against a lot of high-level receivers.
00:49T. Higgins and Jamar Chase, you can immediately go to those guys.
00:53Zay Flowers included, plus some other guys that he's played against.
00:55So, we have evidence of how he does in that environment.
00:58So, we're excited about having him.
01:00And then he said he mentioned he's been familiar with him since Penn State.
01:04And he's a player he's kept an eye on over the years.
01:06So, those are just a couple of things.
01:08He says he's really excited about having this player, this acquisition on the team.
01:13He said, I'm always trying to add more to the player.
01:15So, I don't think that that ever stopped when it comes to what he's looking to add to a Boundary
01:22Eraser.
01:23I'm really excited about the move.
01:25Again, here's why.
01:28We've asked them to do things.
01:30Please, like, don't just sit there and wait around and be like, I don't know.
01:34We could have done something.
01:36We could have gotten Derrick Henry.
01:38You know, all those things.
01:39We've asked them to do it over and over.
01:40And they have.
01:41They went and got a guy who could be one of the top, a fringy top ten cornerback in the
01:46league
01:46to add to this for what it seems like, Kevin, this year is an important year to the Jones family
01:52and to Brian Schottenheimer.
01:54And so, they went and added things to it to say it's time to win.
01:58And they haven't won the first three of the first three games.
02:03They've only won one of them.
02:04And so, they're saying that's not good enough.
02:07Instead of just sitting around going, well, we'll see.
02:09They said, let's go see if we could add some more to it.
02:12Yeah, that is interesting.
02:14And I like hearing his insight on that.
02:18And then he said, what does Joey Porter need to do in the next 48 hours and need to pick
02:22up?
02:22Quote,
02:22Quote, as much as humanly possible.
02:24I don't think you can really put a limit on that.
02:27So, get ready, buddy, is what I want to tell him.
02:29Okay.
02:30Yeah.
02:30I kind of like that, actually.
02:32I like that quite a bit.
02:33As much as humanly possible.
02:36That's from Jane Slater.
02:37All right.
02:38Go ahead and give me cut number seven, will you please?
02:43And let's talk a little bit more about them Texans.
02:47Shotgun for Stroud.
02:49Step.
02:50Fire.
02:56Now, a lot of focus in on Nico Collins this week.
03:03I think we'll learn a lot more today about how that progression continues since he was limited yesterday.
03:12So, we'll see how that goes.
03:14Because him and Alshair are probably the two players who were kind of up in the air that we're curious
03:22about seeing how that's going to play out.
03:24Nico Collins has been dealing with a grade one hamstring injury.
03:28And then Ingram, who we talked about earlier, is recovering from a groin strain.
03:33I would be willing to bet that Jadavion Clowney is not going to play.
03:37Even their head coach is like, look, he's probably more week to week.
03:40But, if Nico Collins can play in this game, I wonder what that's going to do for a Texans offense
03:51that has really, really struggled so far.
03:55Yeah, and it continues to be offensive line woes are still a problem for them.
04:00Yep.
04:00Even though they've committed to it, it's still like they don't know if they can run block or pass block
04:06most of the time.
04:07And I'll answer the first one for them.
04:09They cannot run block, especially the interior of that offensive line.
04:13If you want to interior pivot to the right side, they have had a hell of a time getting any
04:19kind of gaps developed for their running backs.
04:21Yeah, oh, absolutely.
04:23I do fear C.J. Stroud in this respect.
04:26If the Cowboys aren't pass rushing well...
04:30Which they have not.
04:31Which they have not.
04:32And that's my fear.
04:34So maybe I fear him less than I fear the Cowboys lack a pass rush.
04:38But if they are not pass rushing well, then he can make throws.
04:44When C.J. Stroud is at his worst is whenever teams are around him.
04:49He doesn't like people being near him.
04:51He fears it.
04:52And so whenever he drops back, if he's comfortable in the pocket, he can deliver dimes on you.
04:57And so you can't let that happen.
04:59You can't let him sit back and just be comfortable in the pocket by any means.
05:04So, see?
05:05He is upset about this.
05:07Alright, so let's talk some more about C.J. Stroud.
05:10C.J. Stroud is one of three quarterbacks in the NFL with a minimum of 75 pass attempts that have
05:17no interceptions this season.
05:19He also...
05:21Obviously, there's going to be a big exception at the end of this.
05:25He also has the second most passing yards in the AFC behind only Patrick Mahomes.
05:30And even then, he's only 16 yards back.
05:34However...
05:34Told you that was coming.
05:36C.J. Stroud only has three touchdown passes this season versus seven for Dak.
05:41And the Texans have trailed at the half of each of their games this season.
05:47Hence the need for all of the passing.
05:49So, I appreciate that he's not turning the ball over, Stroud, that is.
05:52And that he's thrown for a lot of yards.
05:53But that's essentially been necessary because they've continually found themselves in a deficit.
06:00What I think is really going to move the needle here...
06:03How much can C.J. Stroud run the ball?
06:06He has just 54 yards rushing through three games.
06:10So, he's averaging only 18 yards per game.
06:12Which is notable because you're going up against a Cowboys defense that has allowed 176 yards rushing to quarterbacks this
06:21season.
06:22That's 59 yards per game.
06:25That is bad, bad, bad.
06:27So, as much as I think Stroud throwing the ball, especially with Niko, could be a difference maker.
06:34If he can run the ball against this Cowboys defense, that might lend itself to a long day.
06:39Yeah.
06:40No, it's when the play breaks down is when the concern is for the Cowboys, right?
06:45Like, as soon as the play breaks down, you start fearing, who's even close?
06:51Because Quinnen can pursue with all his heart and soul, but like...
06:56I think he can chase down Stroud.
06:57Okay.
06:58Lamar's tough to chase down.
07:00Sure.
07:00For anybody.
07:01And it was actually pretty awesome to watch him try to chase down Lamar because I was like...
07:05I appreciated the hustle.
07:06And don't forget, remember when he ran his 40 time, he ran a great 40 time because of Oreos.
07:12He had Oreos for breakfast that morning.
07:13I do not remember that.
07:14You remember that, Alec?
07:15Alec remembers that.
07:16Yeah.
07:17So, I think that that's going to be...
07:19I think that just when the play breaks down, who's close enough?
07:23And I think Quinnen can do it.
07:26All right.
07:26In terms of targets, his favorite...
07:29Stroud, that is.
07:30His favorite target so far has been Dalton Schultz.
07:33Dalton Schultz has the second most receptions, 19, and the fourth most receiving yards, 205.
07:39Ciao.
07:40This is the X factor in the game for me.
07:42And the X factor might well be, hey, does Nico play or not?
07:46Watch out for Xavier Hutchinson.
07:49He is averaging seven targets per game.
07:52Oh, yeah.
07:53That's a lot.
07:54Most of those passes are not connecting.
07:57He is only catching 43% of those balls.
08:02Now, some of them are off-target passes, but he's also had a couple of clutch drops.
08:07If Nico Collins goes, will they scale it back?
08:11I mean, he still had six targets in that first game against Buffalo.
08:15And I think maybe you should just take a break for a minute.
08:18And we're very concerned about Corey's throat.
08:23He should take some advice from Nancy Reagan.
08:25And in the meantime, what?
08:28You don't know what that means?
08:29All right.
08:30So he's still got six targets in that first game.
08:33But watch him.
08:35To me, Alec Hutchinson is my pivot offensive player for the Texans.
08:41Because if they're connecting on that, you're going to be in trouble.
08:43If the passes are off-target or he continues to struggle dropping the ball, I don't think
08:47this passing offense is going to go much of anywhere.
08:50It's not going to go much of anywhere because it hasn't at all this season.
08:53If you're tied in as your leading receiver through three weeks, it's because you're doing
08:57dump-offs.
08:58Right.
08:58It's because you need a security blanket.
09:00And the joke this week down in Houston has been Jalen Knoll, one of their other backup
09:05receivers.
09:06They're calling him safety Jalen Knoll because it seems like he is in the same spot as another
09:12receiver every other play, which means somebody is miscommunicating.
09:17So the communication issues that you're talking about here in Dallas and here on special teams
09:22and whatnot, they're having those just as much on offense because they're relying on
09:27guys that haven't been put in these positions before, like Hutchinson, like Noel.
09:32Those guys have not been good for them.
09:35And still, because of some of the issues that we've talked about with their offensive line,
09:39mainly the interior of that offensive line, which is why you need to watch out for Ed
09:43Ingram, how that looks on the injury report today to see how that trends back.
09:48Yeah.
09:48And just because they've been so bad there, that's why I'm like, even with Nico Collins
09:52back, I'm like, yes, he is a very, very good wide receiver.
09:57CJ Stroud does not have a lot of time to process because that stat I gave you yesterday, Kevin,
10:02is pretty wild where they're not, opposing defenses are not even intentionally pressuring
10:08CJ Stroud, but he is still getting pressured six most in the NFL this season on his dropbacks.
10:16And he's only seeing four rushers most place.
10:19It's so interesting too, because we talk a lot, especially in sports about the concept
10:23of best on best.
10:24This game is really going to highlight a lot of worst on worst.
10:27And it's going to be a get right game for, well, surely for one of the teams, but also
10:36for some of these specific positional units.
10:38And so we'll see how that actually like translates to the game.
10:45But I'm sure we talked about this yesterday.
10:47I'm sure the Texans are looking at the Cowboys at this potential to fix a lot of what they
10:52has ailed them and vice versa.
10:55And then for the defense, I know the defense has a great reputation.
10:58They have been fine this year.
