00:00Amy, do you like the direction that they've gone with their number one overall pick?
00:04Obviously, the early results are in that, you know what, having Kirk Cousins and having a veteran guy brought in
00:10so that the young kid could sit behind and basically watch the guy perform and how to perform.
00:16And as you know, Amy, you know, being drafted into the NFL, and I've known this and I've went through
00:21this myself, it's one thing to be a pro and learn how to prepare.
00:24It's another thing to understand the game, too.
00:27So this may be the greatest education that Fernando Mendoza is getting, watching a veteran like Cousins.
00:33I do like it.
00:34And I said at the time the team announced or stated publicly its decision to sit Fernando.
00:41I said at the time that I liked it, I do like it.
00:44I think they made a terrific decision to bring in Kirk Cousins.
00:47Not only did I say that Kirk would help them on the field, and he is, I said that he
00:54will help develop Fernando.
00:55I think they made a really good decision bringing in Kirk, knowing that they were going to have a quarterback
01:02coming to join them as a rookie.
01:04Look, Patrick Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith.
01:08That worked out pretty well now, didn't it?
01:10I love the decision to sit him.
01:12And, you know, look, there may be games sooner rather than later where they put him in for a little
01:17bit.
01:18They put him in for a series here or there.
01:21There may be games where they put him in a little longer, and eventually he'll get big chunks of time.
01:26But I like the decision to sit him initially.
01:29Amy, how about the fact that when you get the position right at quarterback, look what it does to players
01:35like Ashton Gentry, players like Brock Bowers.
01:38I mean, it kind of syncs it all up together, right?
01:41I mean, last year Ashton Gentry looked a little lost.
01:44Bowers was out there kind of by himself.
01:46But when you get a quarterback like Kirk Cousins in there, it kind of puts it all together, and it
01:52shows you the importance of getting that position right.
01:56Well, I love your use of the word or the phrase synced up, because the better your running game is,
02:03the more freedom you're going to have in the passing game.
02:07Because the better your running game is, the more the opposing defense is going to have to focus on stopping
02:12the run, and that's going to free things up for your quarterback in the passing game.
02:16Similarly, the better your passing game is, the more freedom your running backs are going to have to take off.
02:22And so, they're all connected.
02:25The better the running game, the better the passing game, the better the passing game, the better the running game.
02:29The Raiders also made an improvement on the offensive line, and I think that's a very, very big deal.
02:36Last year, they gave up the most sacks in the league.
02:39Number one, you can't do that no matter who your quarterback is.
02:42But number two, you certainly don't want that to be the situation when you're going to eventually be starting a
02:48rookie.
02:48So, I love the improvement to the offensive line.
